Gee, ya think? Good thing these secret service guys are earning their keep. What an astounding revelation!
From The Guardian, with thanks to A Thinker:
The Iranian government has been successfully scouring Europe for the sophisticated equipment needed to develop a nuclear bomb, according to the latest western intelligence assessment of the country's weapons programmes.Scientists in Tehran are also shopping for parts for a ballistic missile capable of reaching Europe, with "import requests and acquisitions ... registered almost daily", the report seen by the Guardian concludes.
The warning came as Iran raised the stakes in its dispute with the United States and the European Union yesterday by notifying the International Atomic Energy Authority that it intended to resume nuclear fuel research next week. Tehran has refused to rule out a return to attempts at uranium enrichment, the key to the development of a nuclear weapon.
Yippee!!!
The day that Iran starts violently threatening Europe with nuclear destruction will be a most amusing day instead.
"Oh gee..." the dumb Europeans will say, "We did not see that coming... now we're in deep shit..."
Don't worry you guys, you can just build yourselves nuclear underground bunkers and live in them instead.
Oh wow... I wonder what those dumb european twits will do after Iran starts shipping its nuclear weapons to terrorist groups.
(Brainwave!!!) Oh I know!!! They will engage in "negotiations...". Yes that will be effective. Just like their negotiations with Iran, and the pre-WW2 negotiations with Hitler.
The 'word' seems to be Israel will assess the West's intent by the end of March, then take matters into their hands. Iran knows this and is actively seeking to acquire a bomb prior to year-end, fearing a strike against them. I'd say the Israelis will strike by the Summer of '06, if not sooner, unless some western coalition occurs first. But eitherway, I fear blowback towards our US troops(not to mention British troops in the South of Iraq). Of course, who will get the blame for US deaths in Iraq or the Brits in Basra??? No, it won't be the 'youths' protesting all over the world, it will be the Jews, for provoking the arabs, for having the chutzpah to defend themselves. Turkey will be bribed to get involved for the passage of US plames ect, apparently their 'price' will be a greenlight to bomb what they view as Kurd sanctuaries within Iraq. I actually like the goon in Iraq, cause he's making life so irritating for the 'peace left.' It's not like there's a lot of subtle issues in his language . . . wife Israel off the face of the earth, no shoah in WWII, ect. ect... or how he was bathed in the holy light during his UN speech, with the worlds leaders unblinking eyes wide open. There's no nuance with him. He's the religion of peace unfrocked, unplugged and unhinged a bit as well. Maybe the Israeli strike will cause the arab street to rise, maybe as far away in Paris, where "dissaffected youths" start to burn cars again. Pat Buchanan had a dhimmatude puff peace calling Bush to do a Chamberlin and scoot off to Tehran to put the toothpaste back into the tube. I'm aware of Pat's past rap vis-a-vis the Jewish people, but this comment shows suprising stupidity . . . I'm not expert on Islamic issues, but dhimmitude never works. I personally favor the Osirik example, brutal, nasty and very quick. The best past to put the toothpaste back into the bottle is to stomp it.
On the subject of Iran. Does Israel have to have air attacks via planes? How bout sub launched missles? Can they have bunker busting materials? I've read various things about how an Israeli attack on Iran would be more difficult than on Iraq since their program is spread out. I've even read that the Israelis might have a three pronged attack with missles ICBM with conventional payloads, air attacks as well as diversionary ground components, coming from(speculation mine)Kurdish controlled Iraq. The element of stealth is key. The enemy of my enemy mantra works in Israel's favor here, since the Saudis, Turks and Joradanians all might protest an Israeli strike, but none would lose too much sleep over a successful Israeli strike! Now, if Israeli successfully desroys the Iranian capability, how will the Iranian thug in chief be receieved by the Mullah elite??? That will be interesting. He will catch blame IMHO since many will then with they had stayed with 'a Khamani' with his smiling, benign, pro reform BS than a what you see is what you get approach of the current Maji lover. I'm not sure, but he could get initial support from Iran's populace, but embarassing questions will rise in Iran, causing more questions, even protests by students, ect.
Geez, really, what a surprise. Well, not for us, that's for sure, but I'll bet my right arm that Europe's politicians will downplay the severity of that particular problem to no end, especially now that you can safely assumed that any talk with Tehran about the nuclear issue is nothing but a waste of time.
Europe, and Germany in particular (Berlin lies exactly in the new max. range of the Iranian ballistic missiles) will only wake up once the sword is at the throats of the infidels - and by then it'll be too late. Again (as in '39).
I just saw the following article and had to post it somewhere. It's a bit OT but I found it utterly amazing.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060104/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iran_abducted_soldiers;_ylt=AuFOpdNF8lLfzdprXsufNfhvaA8F;_ylu=X3oDMTA5aHJvMDdwBHNlYwN5bmNhdA--
The lead says that Islamic "militants" kidnapped IRANIAN soldiers. Aren't the Iranians militants? Who are the militants and who are the "moderates?" I have to say that this article brought a smile to my face. It absolutely made my day. The Iranians will certainly conduct an investigation of the kidnapping. I suspect that one way or another, heads will roll.
Biorabbi,
Israeli subs are German built diesel attack
subs , for coastal defense. It isn't likely that
they would be used to launch an attack on Iraq.
Bunker buster bombs are big, also not easy
when you consider the make up of the planes in
the IAF.
Not an easy task for Israel to take these
out.
Sorry, by "take these out", I was referring to
the fortified underground labs.
Howard/Fine/Howard-- my guess is that Iran's lack of support for the drug trade that provides funds the Pakistan/Afghanistan militants makes the Iranians not-militant-enough.
The moon-god needs his "smack." ;)
Since the onset of Islam's expansion (i.e., since they started killing), which was about 624 AD, Moslems have operated by careful measures of actual violence augmented with the constant threat of even more severe violence.
DISLOYAL NYTIMES DISLOYAL WASHPOST DISLOYAL CHITRIB DISLOYAL LATIMES
My guess is that the Mullahs running the Islamic Republic of Iran see the nuke-tipped missiles as a cudgel of fear. But, if I'm right, then they and their fellow Moslems (Saudis, Pakis, Libyans, et al) will need to operate a program of non-nuclear violence throughout the EU. Bombs and WMD gases, most likely.
What hath the Western Intellectuals wrought.
You Cheeky Humans!
Can you not all see that Iran needs a nuclear arsenal to convince the government to Denmark to institute and more correct form of free speech? Denmark is responsible for this problem. Now that they have caused mischief in the land, Muslims are justified, nay required, to resolve the issue, which is getting out of control. It is high time the Jyllands-Posten retracted their illegal slander of Zod's Apostle (PBnJ). When this problem, and other like it, are resolved, there will be no need to worry about the Islamic bomb. There is a clear path to being protected from it.
My advice to all those who are discomfited by the prospect of a nuclear Iran is to rein in those pesky Danes before Muslims are forced to act.
Quijybo
If Iran really wants nuclear bombs, perhaps we should just give them some...
It's a dreadful thing to hope for war, but Iran will put us in a position worse than war if we don't clean their clock soon. To stand by and do nothing is a fool's peace.
I fear that a real mess is on the horizon. Ashame that Carter didn't have any balls and dealt with Iran 20 yrs ago and then we wouldn't be in this predicament.
But to quote Rodney King "Can't we all just get along".....sigh
Strange that they would target Europe though, with Europe being so warm and fuzzy about Islam. And here we are, planning to take the kids to Italy within the next year! All those things we used to take for granted back when we were in our teens - the Grand Tour of Europe during summer holidays, or during our gap year. Now, that's such a risky adventure. I used to only worry about gypsy pickpockets or having my stuff stolen in the hostel. Nowadays you worry about having your legs blown off, or worse. Such a shame. Thanks Islam! Thanks for destroying many of life's little pleasures.
It's not so strange that Iran would target Europe. The European elites have shown themselves to be soft touches when it somes to dealing with Muslims, as recent events in France, Britain, and the Netherlands demonstrate. Already Europeans are in a state of semi-dhimmitude and are just begging to be liberated. Not only that, but European elites have welcomed into their countries millions of Muslim colonists. I can imagine Muslim governments using nuclear blackmail to paralyze European citizens from fighting back, thereby enabling Muslim immigrants gradually to take control of their host societies. It makes perfect sense.
