Notice how they blame Israel publicly but privately admit it's trouble in their own ranks. Peace In Our Time Update from the Jerusalem Post, with thanks to Mackie:
Palestinian Authority officials on Saturday expressed deep concern over the growing state of anarchy and lawlessness in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, warning that the PA was rapidly losing control. Some Palestinians compared the situation to what's happening in Somalia, which is divided by fiefdoms run by clan leaders and warlords.
"The situation in the Palestinian territories is very dangerous because we are no longer in control," a senior PA official here admitted.
He said the latest cycle of internal violence, including the kidnapping of foreigners, attacks on public buildings and installations, and gun battles between rival gangs and clans, raise serious doubts as to whether next month's parliamentary elections could be held on time.
Gunmen belonging to the ruling Fatah Party over the weekend issued several warnings to international monitors against arriving in the Palestinian territories to observe the elections.
On Saturday, a group of gunmen stormed a hotel in Nablus and kicked out a number of foreign monitors who had arrived in the city to prepare for the vote. More than 120 monitors from different countries are expected to oversee the vote.
The gunmen, who identified themselves as members of Fatah's armed wing, the Aksa Martyrs Brigades, said they were determined to foil the PA's plan to hold the elections next month. Another Fatah gang in the Gaza Strip said it would prevent foreigners from using the Rafah border crossing with Egypt.
In a surprise move, Fatah activists from Jerusalem announced that they would boycott the parliamentary elections. The activists claimed that the move was in protest against Israel's decision to "ban" Arab residents of the city from voting.
However, Fatah officials privately admitted that they were unhappy with the make-up of the Fatah list for the elections, accusing the party's leadership of failing to place Jerusalem representatives at the top.
"We will boycott the elections and we won't allow any elections to take place in Jerusalem," Hatem Abdel Kader, a top Fatah leader told The Jerusalem Post. "This means that the elections will have to be postponed." Abdel Kader and other Fatah candidates in the city announced that they would not run in the elections.
The Enlightened Western world wanted Israel to get out of Gaza --part of Judea during Roman rule, part of the Jewish National Home recognized by the League of Nations. The Enlightened world wanted to give free rein to democracy and self-determination, and allow terrorists and suicide bombers to do their thing. This is the fruit of Sharon pulling Israel out of Gaza. Let's not forgive him.
What constitutes "control" in that culture? Some people simply do deserve shari'a. This is yet more proof that the Islamic ideology is nothing more than a primative tribal warrior code. By all means, let them have a state of their own to demonstrate to the world all the wonders of the Islamic system of political, social and economic institutions. The sooner they start living their dream of dwelling in the 8th century (anno Domini), the sooner we'll have peace in the manner of our ancestors who managed to confine this diseased ideology to the most uninhabitable corners of the globe by running around its edges with ships laden with cannons.
I think it's an excellent stratagy. Now the world can see what is really going on, rather than these "Palestinians" hiding behind the lie of Israel being an occupier of their lands.
That was how they managed to get world support (along with spin from pro-palestinian media)
What have they got to hide behind now? Now Israel is fully justified launching defensive attacks.
I guess some would rather have more IDF and citizens killed, be seen as occupiers and instigators, rather than give up a little to gain much more in the long run.
Haven't you noticed how much opinion has changed Eliyahu?
Israel won't let any attacks go unanswered now.
We can see that the "Palestinians" are going to ratchet up their attacks, follow their stated goal, which is to destroy Israel completely.
That will result in their own destruction.
The excuses have been removed, appeasement has been tried as demanded by the UN and EU "Palestinian" supporters. There is only one option left now. Plus there is the added bonus of the "Palestinians" killing each other, total collapse of any sort of self government. The terrorists will take complete control, and make that final fatal mistake. They won't get much sympathy from the UN anymore either, now that they are blowing up their UN pals.
Mullah,
The rockets have been landing closer to Ashqelon now that the Jewish villages in the northern Gaza Strip have been destroyed. The rockets are still hitting Sderot, where mostly poor people live. So the world doesn't care about them as it cared about the death of Rafiq Hariri in Beirut whose chief merit for obtaining international mourning over his demise was that he was a billionaire.
And I know a girl who was forced out of her home [her employment as a teacher in Gush Qatif terminated] by her own government. Counterattacks and punitive or preventative attacks on Gaza were always justified, whatever the UN or EU believed. If Enlightened Opinion or the UN or EU believed that Israel was occupying parts of the ancient Jewish homeland --and of the internationally approved Jewish National Home-- then it was the Israeli govt's duty to clarify the history, not to make Israelis suffer because the EU is pro-Arab [actually financing the palestinian authority].
Now, as the rockets keep coming, Sharon let the army create a buffer zone or no-go zone. But this is not really practical because as soon as the Israeli artillery stops pounding that area or as soon as EU and USA [read State Dept] pressure persuade Sharon to stop using aircraft to attack would-be rocket shooters, then the rockets will start hitting again. Now, Mullah, you know that the goons in Gaza are ruthless. They even attack their UN and NGO friends, kidnapping foreigners in Gaza, etc. What kind of mercy could we expect from them?
... or as soon as EU and USA [read State Dept] pressure persuade Sharon to stop using aircraft to attack would-be rocket shooters, ...
This is unlikely to happen too soon because now it appears that Rice and Wolfensohn are getting a lesson they would have missed had Israel remained in Gaza.
So far the Palestinians/Arabs are hanging themselves with the ropes they have been given. Let them prove the Quartet wrong about its dream of two states side by side in peace.
They still have to live up to their side of the Roadmap bargain that Bush gave them; instead he got egg in his face with this latest experiment in democratic behaviour. They just blew up a UN worker's club in Gaza. Nice!
What will Rice say to this (read the whole report):

Bishara also said that Syria was under major international pressure, spearheaded by the U.S., even before the assassination. He stressed that support and solidarity with Syria, especially in light of the American occupation of Iraq, must be expressed.
Conference participants signed a petition to UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan calling on the UN to not take advantage of the international probe into the Hariri murder to reap legitimacy for a military attack on Syria.
After the despotic rule of Syria in Lebanon those Arab politicians and religious leaders, even as they are /sarcasm on oppressed and subjugated in "Apartheid" Israel /sarcasm off, are telling Rice that she is the one causing problems for Syria, not Hariri's assassination and the countless other crimes.
She was one of the most vociferous critics of Syria's occupation of Lebanon.
They are exposing themselves for the hypocrits that they are and all their lies about the Israel in which they live. So to, the Palestian Authority is showing under the freedom Sharon gave them that they are incapable of governing and that the Quartet backed the wrong horse.
All this because because Sharon called the Quartet's bluff.
There's something of a conundrum for Western politicians here. In the absence of democracy, muslims fall back on their staple diet of Jew-hatred, misogyny, homophobia, honour-killings, bomb belts, and female genital mutilation. But when they get democracy, they choose... Jew-hatred, misogyny, homophobia, honour-killings, bomb belts and female genital mutilation. So what to do? The answer is simple, though increasingly hard to achieve: pretend it isn't happening. Pretend they're just like us, with the same pluralist values, the same live-and-let-live view of the world; keep pretending and pouring in more money, and maybe everything will turn out ok in the end.
With the false facade now gone the PA and Hamaas are left out in the open for the world to see and we see that it is not capable of Governing itself.
We see that as a free state rampant murder and destruction will continue as it always has, I wonder what they will want now???????
In "Sharon's strategy", a complete withdrawal from the Gaza was necessary to demonstrate and eliminate all possible Israeli-Palestinian sources and perceptions of friction, as well as gain international legitimization for the disengagement.
The Roadmap that everyone still pays lip service to, required the Palestinians to disarm the terrorists and end the violence. Sharon insisted that there would be no more withdrawals until that happened. And of course the Palestinians would not due what was called for on the roadmap. And this is what The "Sharon strategy" was counting on.
The Gaza strip has in fact become a "world stage" that demonstrates the true behavior and actions of the Palestinians.
This is of course is act one on that stage. So when the critics in the MSM rush to there labtops, how will they report (spin) on this world stage performance? Of course we are already reading some of there articles on the first performances by the Palestinians and the spin isn't coming easy. Even the Duranty times may have trouble spinning it.
Mackie: "The Gaza strip has in fact become a "world stage" that demonstrates the true behavior and actions of the Palestinians."
The current production appears to be an adaptation of William Goldings Lord of the Flies
PA officials are deluding themselves if they believe that they were ever really "in control".
"We will boycott the elections and we won't allow any elections to take place in Jerusalem,"
Great. Palastinians dont belong in Jerusalem anyway except maybe as tourists.
This problem with the Palistinians can be solved in short order. Its called genocide. If its good enough for the Jews its good enough for the Palistinians.
"Some Palestinians compared the situation to what's happening in Somalia, which is divided by fiefdoms run by clan leaders and warlords."
-- from the article above
This would be a highly satisfactory outcome, provided Infidel governments do not keep shovelling in the jizyah of foreign aid, or even pay much attention to the area. Let it be ignored as Somalia is ignored, but make sure that its population is also kept bottled up, and the shock troops of the Jihad against Israel, the "Palestinians" who are among the most fervent and fanatical of the Muslim Arab population, should not be permitted to settle anywhere in non-Muslim lands, where they are certain to bring trouble, and menace, and be more than a headache for the indigenous Infidels. A planeload of Sami al-Arians are not needed -- not in England, not in France, not in Italy, not in Germany, not in Sweden, not in Spain, not in Belgium, not in Australia, not in Canada. And certainly not in the United States.
I like that Lord of the Flies comparison, Caroline.
