Syria Supports Iran in Nuclear Standoff

No surprise here. The Syria/Iran axis has long been established. The Alawite leadership of Syria owes a debt of gratitude to the Shi'ite mullahs for certifying the Islamic bona fides of the Alawites; the cordial relationship stems from that, as well as, of course, a mutual hatred of Israel. From AP, with thanks to Report:

DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) - Syria asserted Thursday that Iran had a right to atomic technology and said Western objections to Tehran's nuclear ambitions were not persuasive.

President Bashar Assad of Syria, a longtime Iranian ally facing its own international criticism, said he backed Tehran's moves toward nuclear power and wanted to strengthen ties.

``We support Iran regarding its right to peaceful nuclear technology,'' Assad said at a news conference with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the start of two days of meetings. ``It is the right of Iran and any other state to own nuclear technology for peaceful purposes. Countries that object to that have not provided a convincing or logical reason.''

How about this for a reason, Bashar: we wouldn't like to see the mushroom clouds over Israel that we know your friend Ahmadinejad wants to make a reality. Nor would we like to see them anywhere else.

Odd, ain't it.

The distance, as a nuclear blast flies, between Damascus and Jerusalem is a mere 217 miles.

What is Papa Assad's little boy thinking?

In the event that hostilites break out to terminate Iranian nucear and other ambitions, I wonder how and where Syria and Iran have decided to deploy Sadaam's wmd?

Thanks Mr. Spencer. You confirmed what I suspected. Forget Israel for the time being, it's a Shi'ite- Alawite love fest that strengthens the pencil necked geek son of the Stalinist Assad, the great leveler of Hama

When you think about it, a peaceful world would be a snap if we didn't have to deal with cultures that are a constant thorn in the side of the rest because they are under a Fascist ideology. It should amaze and appall us all that there still exist peoples in such a progressive world that are hellbent on the destruction of others, peoples that believe beyond any doubt that they are superior in some God-given way to the rest of us by sheer matter of faith.

This misguided aggressiveness is by no means only the realm of Islam, unfortunately. There are other powers out there in the world that are in alliance both knowingly and unwittingly with Al Qaeda and other "true believers" and I'm saddened to see how each bolsters the other over the course of time.

Nazis, Communists, Ultra-liberals, etc. -- you don't have to go far to find the current and future allies of our most dire enemies. I bet some live right in our own neighborhoods right now.

Could we be waking up soon to another McCarthy era? Would it be wrong this time? Think about that.

PRCS:

For an opthomologist, Bashir hasn't exactly dazzled the world with his subtlety of foresight lately has he?

Assad:"Countries that object to that have not provided a convincing or logical reason."

He's right of course. The countries that object are just picking on Iran for no reason. After all, the Religion of Peace is in control there, so there is little chance that Iran will do anything with this technology, except light up bulbs. The great leaders of Iran, are only kidding around about nuking Israel or punishing the US/west. They dont really mean all that stuff. It's just that Allah gave them an odd sense of humor. The prez of Iran, Aberdaberaba, or whatever his name is, is only joking about Mahdi, he quietly giggles everytime the west takes him seriously. The Religion of Peace would never involve itself in anything harmful, so why deprive it of nuke technology and equipment?
Assad may want some of it himself, someday. They got lots of bulbs in Syria that need lighting also. I think the west/Israel are overly paranoid or just being mean spirited for no reason. If you cant trust Aberdaberaba or Assad, who can you trust?...

The profound incompatibility between WMD and childish, murderous Islam is coming into sharp relief.

I wonder if all this will make it possible for a talking head --- preferably a know-it-all with a prestigious Ivy League credential --- to go ahead and admit that Islam is not a religion and that there is no such thing as a Moderate Moslem.

Post-detonation, of course. I realize that this makes way too much sense to happen pre-detonation.

When you stop and think about it, fundamental Islam loves explosions that purposefully target civilians. It's apparent in the battle style of choice. Islam also loves disguises, i.e. wearing a mask of "peace" while all along secretly desiring the 'big-bang' someday. The unfalsifiable nature of Islam (in other words never allowing criticism) along with written doctrine directing efforts to deceive non-Muslims raises absolute concern - along with the historical fact that Islam, over time, does not police itself - an outside authority has always been needed historically to keep Islam in check.

Alawites are 12% of the population. In Alawite villages, each house has a picture of Miriam -- Mary, and the cult of Mary, spatchcocked onto a version of Islam, clearly reflects the syncretism of a place where Christiains continued to survive (and next door, in the mountains of Lebanon, even to thrive), despite the Muslim conquest. The "real" Muslims -- the Sunni Muslims -- have never stopped stropping their knives. The attack on the military academy graduation ceremony, back in 1980 or so, in which 82 Alawite cadets were killed by Muslim attackers, and a few similar incidents, led to the attack, by Syrian troops (Alawite-officered, but the troops themselves being Muslim, Alawite, Christian Arabs and Christian Armenians -- though perhaps in this case the troops were carefully chosen to minimize the presence of "real" Muslims) then razed Hama and killed perhaps 20,000 of its inhabitants. Lesson learned. But lesson applied only to far-seeing Father, not to short-sighted Son.

Alawite rulers in Syria have been reluctant to prevent Sunni Muslims from entering Iraq for the obvious reason: 1) if they were to prevent it, this would raise Sunni Muslim anger at the Alawites further, within and without Iraq (those flying visits to the money-men in Saudi Arabia) and 2) if the most determined Sunnis within Syria go to Iraq to fight and die, that leaves fewer such determined enemies at home to worry about.

The Americans should not be trying to overthrow the Alawite regime, but to destroy any military capacity it has for mischief beyond the bordrs of Syria itself. In one famous air battle decades ago, the Israeli air force engaged the Syrian Air Froce. Score: 82 Syrian planes downed, 0 Israeli planes. Surely the Americans have ways to inflict similar damage on Syria, and a thousand justificiations for doing so -- including a sample of what Iran will get, if it doesn't stop working on you-know-what. And the less powerful the Alawites are, the more they are going to have to concentrate on surviving at home. Would you like to be an Alawite in Syria today, knowing full well what the "real" Muslims -- the ones now building those mosques deliberately in the Chrisian part of Haleb, right between the churches (and in Alawite-ruled Syria, where the Christians are no threat at all, and are a source of support born of mutual fear of the "real" Muslims, government offices close on Christmas -- something unheard-of in the other Muslim Arab countries)-- will do to the Alawites, and their families, the first chance they get?

What troubles me as much or more than than the Syria-Iran nexus is the role Russia is playing, enabling Iranian ambitions by providing enriched uranium. Is this simply amoral technical services-for-sale or is it a Russian attempt to fight a proxy war or is it something different again?

Syria's disposition has never been too far removed from its present place. Russia's however went underground for a while. I don't like what I see resurfacing.

Islam has always loved stealth (disguised) assassination. Muhammad requested three assassinations and his lackeys carried them out.

What better mass assassination than an un-attributable nuke detonated in Israel or America. Not delivered by missile and with an indecipherable nuclear signature. All their Jihads lead up to such decapitation (assassination) strikes. Right now we see the minor version (50 killed at  a time) of mass assassination by bomb in Iraq. Islamic Jihadists like this example and want to make it much bigger

The distance, as a nuclear blast flies, between Damascus and Jerusalem is a mere 217 miles.

Golan Heights look down on a Damascus that's 12 miles away. Exceedingly easy for Israel to waste this city. The death of a thousand cuts by Islam is more difficult to counter

Syria and Iran in bed together. And here I thought homosexuality was banned under Islamic law. With Russia engaging in voyuerism. See what happens when relatives mate?

"Syria and Iran in bed together."
-- from a posting above

Alawites, of a Shi'a bent, and the manly fanatics of the Islamic Republic of Tehran, engaged in the old New England folk-practice of bundling. Geopolitics makes strange bedfellows.

And if the American government acts cleverly, it can do a little un-bundling. And save itself -- a bundle.

But according to all the Leftists its all americas fault...

So we shouldnt rush to judgment even after a mushroom cloud rises over europe..

After all How could you prove that it was committed by islamic terrorists...

/
Just because they
Said we will kill you
Were building bombs with iranian and syrian markings
Paid the families of the bombers.
Hid nuclear work from inspectors.
Provided money and transportation.
Created marterdomn videos.
Had a will explaining they were going to allahs whorehouse in the sky.

Just because you have all this circumstancial evidence doesnt mean that they actually did it..

These days even if you catch the islamic terrorists planting the bomb and smiling for the camera there will still be some leftist nut case
who still will believe it was a zionist plot..

/

And in the process, Syria has clearly illustrated how Islam is actually comprised of THREE PILLARS OF WISDOM (and not seven). Here they are:

Pillar ONE: BOMB.

Pillar TWO: Infidel.

Pillar THREE: Explosion.

"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

Oh yes, and, thank you Syria for showing us the reality that Islam is PIECES (OF DEAD PEOPLE).

The headlines that you read in today's papers (at least the news that the media is choosing to show us) has all been foretold in Scripture and is unfolding quite nicely before our very eyes.

Read the following verses and tell me that you don't see a correlation between what is happening now and what has been foretold. My comments are between the {}

Matt 24:15-29

15"So when you see standing in the holy place 'the abomination that causes desolation,'{ A nuclear detonation in Israel perhaps?}[b] spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand— 16then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17Let no one on the roof of his house go down to take anything out of the house. 18Let no one in the field go back to get his cloak. 19How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers!{because of nuclear Fallout perhaps?} 20Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. 21For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again. {All out World War ensues as a result of Iran's nuclear bomb detonation} 22If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. 23At that time if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or, 'There he is!' do not believe it. 24For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect—if that were possible. 25See, I have told you ahead of time.

26"So if anyone tells you, 'There he is, out in the desert,' do not go out; or, 'Here he is, in the inner rooms,' do not believe it. 27For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.

29"Immediately after the distress of those days
" 'the sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light; {The result of a Nuclear Winter?}
the stars will fall from the sky,
and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.'[c]

Our political correct minded leaders are useless in preventing this from happening. In fact, because of all of their hem-hawing, under the table dealings, and outright denials, they will actually give Iran the time they need to finalize its nuclear capabilities and when that happens, you can be sure that they will use them against Israel and the West. They say that their nuclear ambitions are for peaceful means. BULLSHIT! Their own Koran teaches them to lie at all costs to obtain their objectives which the Iranian puppet president has already stated quick succintly for the media when he said that he intends to: "To wipe Israel off the face of the map" and even a lesser known statement in which he says he views a world without America.

It doesn't get any clearer than that!

To all people of my generation: It looks like we have front row seats to the Apocalypse. It's not going to be pretty...

Don't be fooled or play the ostrich but putting your head in the sand and think this is somebody elses problem or that it will go away. This will effect everyone on earth, including you, and very soon.

May God have mercy on us all

That is the trillion-dollar-question.

But,,,,, they've probably abandoned the "long range plan" Golitsyn warned about. They've already got us in the bag anyways(the USA is socialist), it's the muslims who are resisting, and who need to be pacified.
Ya never know, for all we know the Cold-War did'nt really end,or maybe a compromise was accepted. TRUTH IS ILLUSIVE.

Chatillon,
It was inevitable with the end of the cold war that the dipole simplicity of geopolitics would revert to pre-WWI-style complexity. And so it has.

The prior game (east vs west, with the modest ornamentation of non-aligneds playing one side against the other) has given way to a free-for all. The only thing that seems to unite the world is its view that American hegemony is bad. (Of course, for some, like Iran, American hegemony IS bad. For others, like France, it is bad only in that peculiar french sense of "bad:" that which does not aggrandize France).

So, you know, look at all the posturing and posing in the world--especially Europe (and, of course our own George isn't the most supple communicator)--and then put yourself in Putin's place. Even if you discard the notion that you can take the boy out of the KGB, but you can't take the KGB out of the boy, you're left with this problem: how can he look himself in the mirror every day if Russia become utterly irrelevant during his tenure?

And so the games: George critizes me in Chechnya, I criticize George in Iraq. George disses me in Ukraine, I diss him in Iran. One finds it hard to imagine that Putin is not aware of the fire he is playing with in Iran. But these things--the kind of game where two punks start punching each other in the arm to see if the other will wince--can and do frequently spin out of control. The Iran episode is Putin's way of pulling a knife. Granted, he's still being cautious in how he presents it, but nevertheless it is a knife, and we are still in act I.

The cold war was like a chess game that had come down to a stalemate. The few pieces could still move around the board, but every move was carefully analyzed, and after a while, both sides know where the checkmates are, and reliably avoid them.

But now we have a new chess game, and the consequences of bad moves may not be at all direct, and so the players, who are stupid, and can't see far ahead, feel confident enough to do any damned thing and trust in their stupidity to correct tomorrow the mess they may have made today.

Possibly the BEST way to head off this potentially lethal crisis for humanity (if not he only) caused by Iran and its terrorist henchmen is to employ the use of EMP weapons over Islamicized countries like Iran pre-emptorily. It is a virtual certainty the Islamic nations WILL attack the western nations. It is only a matter of WHEN they do it. This is the lesson of 9-11.

In addition, the western democracies, in particular the United States and its allies absolutely MUST begin an international program to recover and rebuild after they are attacked by EMP bomb weapons. This will prove daunting. But the world will have to look into rebuilding after Islam and the Communists jointly attack.

Which they will!
