THE brother of a Victorian accused of terrorism has returned to Australia after studying Islam in Pakistan. Zaid Kent and his brother Shane grew up in a middle-class Australian family and both converted to Islam in the mid-1990s.Shane, who adopted the Islamic name Yasin, trained in an Afghan military camp where he allegedly met al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden in 2001.
He is now one of 10 Victorians facing charges of belonging to a terrorist group.
Zaid Kent returned to Victoria last month from a Pakistani Islamic school days before a deadline set by Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf for all foreign Islamic students to leave the country.
There had been criticisms that foreigners were being indoctrinated into Islamist militancy.
No allegations have been made against Zaid Kent, but he has been spoken to periodically by Australian security authorities.
"He has been under scrutiny for years, like anyone else who has gone to study Islam in Pakistan," a source said.

ANSWER: As the article attests (they went to instruction camps in Paki), the peaceful muslim organizations are completely successful in indoctrinating all converts properly in accordance with Islam's teachings.
Translation for the mentally challenged or those who have only a mediocre grasp of English or just have really dim senses of humor: Muslim converts are going exactly where "mainstream" Islam wants them - to the murder schools to learn hate and murder.
There is no such thing as a "moderate" muslim as the West fantasizes. "Radical" muslims blow up little kids. "Moderate" muslims find nothing wrong with that.

Any cogent person can clearly see that the more one immerses themselves in islamic doctrine as a matter of religious study (as opposed to academic), the more radicalized that person becomes. Whereas, a peaceful muslim is one who is essentially a complete apostate who would loudly renounce their affiliation with anything islamic if they could be assured they wouldn't be hunted down and murdered for having done so.

I'm a Canadian, but I am old enough to recall when Australia had very tight immigration laws that were used to keep people from Southeast Asia out when wars were raging in Vietnam and Cambodia in order to keep communists out of the country and were condemned by the usual suspects for this policy.

Yes, Zathras, but as awful as the Moonies and Scientologists are, I think both stop short of inducting people into jihad armies. With so many cults around that people could gravitate toward, I suspect that there's a specific profile that sends one type of "follower" lurching toward the non-violent ones and a special type of "follower" to the violent ones, and I suspect that the vital ingredient is a desire to identify with the greatest perceived victims of our time, which is what Phyllis Chesler and others have argued is why elements on the political left are able to find common cause one of the most regressive, myscogenistic, xenophobic and reactionary ideologies of all time while they condemn Zionism for its "racism" (conveniently ignoring that Judaism isn't a race and that many of Israel's Jewish citizens are brown-skinned).
WD52..Oh I quite agree about yr comment but remember I was not comparing these three, I was merely using it as an example as how some people just cannot exist in a freethinking world of open multiple choices unless they have their own choices reduced by an external agent , be it muhammad , the rev Moon or Mr Hubbard.
