It's Friday afternoon, and here in the Jihad Watch offices in lovely Secure Undisclosed Locationville, we are relaxing with some Danish treats in solidarity with the free people of Denmark and free people everywhere. (Hugh loves the havarti, which comes from the beleaguered Arla Foods.)
Danish beer? Of course -- but a little later.
I hope there is a similar scene on your table tonight.
For a child's present, how about Lego?
I bought some Danish cheese last night. Delicious! I also bought some butter cookies and they are quite good. Buy Danish!
I too am buying Danish products. I have to say I am a little taken aback by the price of the cheese. Nonetheless, I bought it. I prefer Swiss, or "American style Swiss" or provolone, but hey, Havarti works. Since I am relatively short drive from Legoland, I suppose its time for another visit.
PALESTINIAN CHRISTIANS TO BE SCAPEGOATS FOR DANISH CARTOONISTS?
Gunmen from Islamic Jihad and Fatah announced their intention yesterday of attacking churches in Gaza in protest against the cartoons of Muhammad
published in Denmark last September. But the newly elected armed Islamist group Hamas publicly rejected the targeting ofchurches over this
issue, even offering to provide military protection for one church building.
A growing movement of Muslim protest around the world since the cartoons appeared has gained strength this week as the cartoons were republished in six other European countries and Jordan. Amidst economic boycotts, demonstrations outside embassies, burning of the Danish flag and calls for a “Day of Anger”, Christian minorities in Muslim countries have begun to be
targeted. The threats to Palestinian church buildings follow attacks on Iraqi Christian students and bombs outside Iraqi churches last Sunday.

Since I am danish, I do tend to buy a lot of danish products :)
Im not big on chesse, but to make up for it there is about a million other things available thats also produced by danish companies.
Hmm, I just thought about this whole "Buy Danish" campaign. And while I think its a nice idea and thank those that choose to follow it, its not really going to make a difference. That whole boycot thing is really very minor compared to what we really have at stake here, and Denmark is a rich country which sells most of our exports within the EU or to the US anyway. The boycot is not going to really affect us in any serious way, so thats not really the problem that needs to be solved either.
What we need most is moral and political support from high places. We need your president to get up there and say that freedom of speech is a right that cannot be set aside by any responsible government. We need your newspapers to print those damn drawings and detailed stories on the real Islam. We need people all over the world to put on T-Shirts and bumper stickers with pictures of Mohammed and a message supporting free speech.
Denmark has troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, and we just doubled the commitment in Afghanistan. No other country has more soldiers that us on peacekeeping missions under the UN flag when measured pro capita. And we need our allies in the UK and the US to get 100% behind us and let the muslim terrorists know that you will be there for us, if they want to keep escalating this.
But anyway, enjoy your chesse and later your beer. You are doing a good job with this site and deserve a little luxury!
Hmm,
I don't usually buy those cookies until Christmas time, but I suddenly hear my sweet tooth talking.
Those Danish Butter cookies are very nice; my Mother in law often has a tin in stock for my visits.
Damn this dairy allergy!
Quijybo
I remember them from when I was still a child. My mother sometimes bought them, they're delicious with a nice cup of tea or a glass of cold milk!
Why couldnt a Norwegian paper have originally published the cartoons? I wouldnt feel bad about not buying lutefisk; these Danish butter cookies are making me swell.
Anyhoo, Im wondering if the violent muslim protestors around the world realize that the Danish cartoons were making fun of violent muslims?
Stereotype in the flesh, and they seem not to realize it.
While enjoying the tasty Danish treats. Listen to some Islamic music - Enjoy

I agree this is just a symbolic gesture, and a fincial drop in the bucket. Still, it beats shrugging our shoulders and saying, "Well, what can one do?"
Kafir Nonbeliever, th eprice of freedom is higher than th eprice of Danish cheese so go for it!
LiberalNotQuisling, what time is it tomorrow???
Can we at last wave Danish flags? They would not let it today. By the way, have you seen the footage on BBC news tonight? On one hand incitement to violence and murder by the bloody Muslims and on the other hand the policeman ordering in a very dictatorial way this poor man, who had lost his temper and was trying to convey a few words of truth to those lunatic Muslims, back into his car!
just bought a DAK canned ham
I bought the light and the jalapeno. A most excellent product
I've been buying Lurpak butter for years. And it doesn't melt in my mouth.
"Danish cheese..."
MMMMMM.........GOOD! I am going shopping....
Hey wait --- in the reflection I can see the office address on the door -- just kidding.
Hey Kaffir buddy
Deli cheeses are expensive here. It's not like back home where we used to buy cheese by the kilo. I swallowed hard my first visit to the grocery store when I thought I could buy a big lump to last me for a week. I measure my moving up on the economic scale in the U.S. by the kinds and quantities of cheese I can buy. I knew I was no longer lumpen, penniless when I was able to buy my first fresh --cow's milk--mozzarela. Buffalo mozzarela is still beyond my means.
Don't forget the Carlsberg Special Brew. It's strong enough to take away the nasty flavour left by the diet of dhimmitude we're being force-fed by our politicians these days.
If we follow the principle of reciprocity, how
should we in the West respond to the burning of
churches and attacks on Christians by the
followers of the 'pedophile for profit'?
Just a thought...
"If we follow the principle of reciprocity, how

By telling the truth about their religion and culture. That seems to hurt them harder than if you went and killed a million of them.
Up here in the Sierra foothills my local supermarkets have the cheese but not the beer. Exactly backwards according to my lights. But when I drive down to So. Cal next week I think I might stop by Solvang and pick up some Danish products - well, at least the beer and maybe a flag or two. Out here in the woods I can safely fly them (under the American one, of course) but would not feel safe displaying one in the SF or LA regions.
Lovely picture, but Robert, Hugh, et al, I hope that none of you are watching your weights.
Talking about legos, I bought some some weeks ago. Also had bought one of those massive Kirkland Danish butter cookies during Chrismas.
Anyway, enjoy.

How do you know that? We have not yet tried the
latter option?
Sorry to sound nasty, but I fear that in the end, it
will come to that. I agree that the cartoon weapon
is great, but it ain't over yet. You should be willing to consider harsher options. I don't want
to be the proverbial dork bringing a knife to a
gunfight.
I went to the small market tonight to buy dinner. They had Lurpak butter, but only the unsalted, so I did not buy. Asked them for any other Danish items and they pointed me to the Baklava. My husband was PO'd at me, not the stupid clerk at the store.
Danes, if you are reading... IMPORT MORE TO THE USA. We will buy your products and will literally crush the muslim boycott in a matter of 10 days.
Danish cheese? ~
Mediterra Danish Feta Cheese Cubes in Oil with Herbs & Spices (Arla Foods) is, as they say in my neighborhood, the bomb!
Place a bowl of it in the middle of your favorite greens scattered on a platter, surround with your favorite olives, some cucumbers, tomatoes, scallions/onions, etc. Have some good bread or your favorite crackers on hand. The possible combinations endless, the result always fabulous with this Danish cheese.
I get it in my local supermarket. Hope you can, too! ...I wish you the Danish equivalent of bon appetit and I wish the Danes good strength.
Annakita.. sounds scrumptious. I drooled on me keyboard.
Just_Linda ~
It is good. It's not inexpensive, but with your favorite surroundings it is a delicious meal.
You may want to ask, depending on your market, if they can stock an item of your choice. It's worked for me.
...Maybe we should all recommend a Danish Festival to our supermarkets?
annakita
I've been wondering about those cubes. Never bought them. Now I know, thanks to you.
Sincerely,
Ov.
Ovidius,
"I knew I was no longer lumpen, penniless when I was able to buy my first fresh --cow's milk--mozzarela. Buffalo mozzarella is still beyond my means."
Indeed, cheese is expensive. In the last years I was able to move away from a packet of Monterey Jack or "lowly" cheddar. It's not that I dislike those, it's just they are not my favorite. I recently developed a taste for Armenian string taste. It's not cheap at the stores that sell it, but then again like you said, you get very little. I always liked Kashkaval from Hungary, Romania or Bulgaria. My new love is Havarti.
If I may ask Ovidius, are you by chance from Constanta, Romania, where the late poet Ovidius died?

Polish Infideless,
I am very sad at the moment because my closet friend just moved away from me to take a job in Washington D.C. She is Polish. While I don't miss her just for her food by any means, I reminisce about the Polish sausages and cheese filled pierogies (my favorite) we would have on special occasions. She would make them just for me for my birthday. I have no idea what cheese she used to make those, but oh my. Those were the days; we would down them with a Heineken. If I were lucky enough to have the same meal now, it would be with a Tuborg.
American, we haven't yet started telling the truth about Islam on a large scale. In the case of Islam, the truth does hurt and more than bombs. And we come out smelling like roses. Let us not be like the Muslim martyrs, wanting to kill others; let us speak our minds and watch them explode in anger. Perhaps they will make a few martyrs out of us, but better a Christian martyr than a Muslim murderer.
Columnist Michelle Malkin is writing extensively about the cartoon jihad and is running all the cartoons and photos on her website...
http://www.michellemalkin.com
Especially check out her January 30 column "SUPPORT DENMARK: WHY THE FORBIDDEN CARTOONS MATTER" which also re-runs the toons.
Pardon me if someone has already mentioned this but I'm gonna shamelessly plug my friend Michelle's site. It's well worth a look!
Well, on second thought - I will put a Danish flag bumper sticker on my car. It is the least I can do in support of these much braver editors. And if it gets defaced then I can report it as a hate crime.
Don't forget the Danish ham and pork products!

Havarti and ham go together beautifully.
I'm about 2/3 of the way through a block of Arla/Dofino havarti myself, happily sticking it to the jihad, slice after superb slice.
I too am buying Danish products. I have to say I am a little taken aback by the price of the cheese. - Posted by Kafir Nonbeliever
I was a little surprised, too, to pay $5 for a block of havarti similar in size to the one pictured above.
But not only is it a worthy cause; if you try it, you'll find there's real quality reflected in that price, rather than a "snob premium." :)
I'll donate some Lox and Bagels and cater some Katz' deli fare like corned beef on rye . . . I'm sure that will bring a twinkle to the Islamic eye.

I agree that we need to use the truth, and it obviously does hurt them. However, I am an
engineer, and I believe in using all of the
tools at my disposal. And, as much as I
admire your lovely sentiments, I don't share
them. Besides, self defense is not the same as
murder. Driving muslims out of our lands is self
defense. They've told us what they're about, we just need to listen!
I brought out the beer...except it was American...shiest!
My liberal sister called me tonight....told me she was shocked about the filmed reports of Muslim demonstrations to the cartoons...insisting they were "crazy" and reminded her of "animals."
I replied she was wrong. They are not crazy. They are not animals. They are just human beings so thoroughly indoctrinated in their religion/ideology that they are beyond our scope of comprehension.
But they certainly have a very rational goal...and that is to preclude an honest exposition of Islamic intolerance. Today, derogatory cartoons are the objection; tomorrow, it will be quoting the Hadith that documents the Prophet's rape of his child-bride Ayesha or his sanction of the murder of the Jewish poet K'ab because of the content of the latter's verse.
Hugh can be wrong at times, but he's absolutely right when he says that boots on the ground abroad mean nothing if we're compelled to validate Islam in our cultural discourse at home. How will we ever educate Muslims about the intolerance of their creed - the essential course in winning this war of civilizations, as long as we're validating the very same.
Surely the amount of fuss they are all making could be interpreted as another form of idolatry, something they are really keen on - Mohammed was just a prophet, Allah is the 'big cheese', so to speak. Do they really think he would want them carrying on like this? Surely a dignified silence would be more effective.
Ali Sina has also got into the act. Incidentally, his site has a remarkable photo of what a Danish tree thinks of the Mohammedans
http://www.faithfreedom.org/Announcement/602020226.htm
The infant on his home page has a similar message.
Maybe I should send my local mosque a DAK ham as a peace offering?
Even though it may not be the total solution, I think making an effort to buy Danish products can make a difference, especially if we notify lots of other people to do the same (via email & weblogs, etc).
Also, it is a good idea to look on labels to make sure that products are really Danish. Some things say "Danish" but they are really "Danish style"-- made in other countries (especially butter cookies, Havarti). The imported Danish item usually costs more, but I think if many, many people buy these things even for a few weeks it can make a difference.
If your supermarket doesn't carry some items (ex: Tuborg), sometimes if you ask the manager, he will order it.
Here is a list of some Danish products that are widely available in the U.S. (Some of these are duplicated on other lists, but many aren't & this may give people some more ideas of things to buy).
hello friends arounld the world
My doctor forbode me to eat cheese cause of my level of cholesterol (2.6 g). A torture for a cheese addict in a thousands cheese country.
BUT , i am planning to go to the scandinavian foodshop of IKEA store in Metz to find one of those excellent DANISH cheese and enjoy it .Plus cake , salmon (do danish produce salmon ? one of my favorish dish ..)
GOOD APPETITE
Think l will try Danish cookies.. a good excuse to a great treat! l have not tried Danish cheese, will try it of course! my sisters are going over to Europe March lst, attending a couple of dogs shows, one is near the Danish border in the Netherlands, l will tell them to go over to Denmark and bring back some great stuff!! a rather great idea, l can get this printed on a tee shirt without much effort. the words on the back or front "We are all Danish" Let Freedom Ring!", how about that eh!
I bought a pack of Carlsberg Beer for the first time and can recommend it as excellent. The best I have tasted so far. Like a lager with no bitter after taste. By the way how much do these people in the middle east individualy spend on danish goods anyway? A single westerner must have many times more spending power. Every individual westerner could make up the slack (in danish goods sold) for a whole bunch of raving muslim loonies.
I live in walking distance to Sam's Club. Hehehe-- In a while I think I'll just mosey on over there, using only "ten-toe-transpo", and pick up some ham and cookies!
I wish I had a tee shirt to wear, for my walk. I would cobble one together myself with an iron-on transfer, but I've yet to find a Danish flag that doesn't pixellate when I blow it up to tee shirt size. I will continue to search, though. :-)
Abscedere,
You could wear a blue scarf! Enjoy you walk and eat a cookie for me. : )
Quite similar, though I opted for the havarti w/jalapeno. Washed it down with some Carlsberg Elephant. It was a bit light taste-wise ( I prefer a very hoppy IPA) but does pack a kick.
Shouldn't the boycott work both ways. All Danish employers including the Government should lay off (fire) all Muslim employees. Muslims have taken collective (blanket) action against all Danes. So what is right for them should be right for us.
Lay them all off and deport anyone who causes any trouble. We dont need this scum amongst us. Cut off all benefits immediately, to Muslims living in Denmark.
We all support any action the Danish Government takes.
The next time you buy clothes, towels or anything else, (except electronics which seem to be all China) you should make a point of looking at the labels. Many clothes are now being made in Malaysia, Indonesia, Jordan, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Shop for clothes and everything else with this in mind. CHECK THE LABEL. This can work both ways. People just need to be aware.
It really would be a good idea not to have everything being made by other countries anyway. If we are ever at war in the future, and I mean all out war, where would you get the boots and uniforms? The electronics that soldiers need? Even the transportation and food.
Many a war was lost by not having enough supplies to hold out.
Independance is important for the survival of a country. This world is flat stuff is bad economically and for survival.
One of you asked how much money they spend on denmark in the middle-east..
Last report seems to indicate somewhere around
6-7.000.000.000 kr a year..
thats about 1.000.000.000 Us$
os its quite a impact on our export here in little old denmark
What can i say other than .. thanks for the support and wish us luck

Borg,
It might be a good time to start thinking about planting a Victory Garden.
I totally agree with Borg. Read the label before buying anything. In any case Muslim countries do not produce anything sophisticated such as computers and other electronic equipment. Most is clothing (labour intensive items). Why I do not buy anything made in Malaysia (the loud/foul mouthed Mahathia Mohamed ex prime- minister always makes it a point to attack the West). Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia (on a survey taken they all hated the west) so why support any of these countries. That goes to all other Muslim majority countries. Enough of our Tax dollars are given to them as Aid. Trade and help could not be one way, it has to be both ways.
In Canada.the Canadian Islamic Council ordered all Muslim Businesses to pull down from the shelves, products from Denmark. So all Muslim shops proudly display boards in front of shops 'we don't sell Danish products'.
But the Real loosers are the muslims- because, all the non-muslims,who used to shop in these shops, shifted to non- Muslim stores, after seeing these revenge boards. Moreover, Muslims in Canada constitute only 2 percent.! Now the Non-Muslim majority Canadians are so fed up with this revengful Muslims, who never allow others to lead a peaceful life, and go on creating one thing or the other to create truoble..So they all boycot all Muslim owned stores. The Bible says'Those who takeup swords, will perish by swords' Yes indeed!
Faqi said:"Cut off all benefits immediately to Muslims living in Denmark" -Well said Faqi.
These Danish people are proud about their Freedom of speech'. It is this attitude, that made it possible for these Muslims to migrate to Denmak. And see the way, how they are repaying that gesture. Now the whole Non-Muslim world came to know one thing- never ever help a muslim. If you do, you will be put into trouble by the same man you helped. It is like pouring milk to a cobra.
