At what point can he be removed from office? Is there not an oath of office in Israel similar to that required by elected offcials in the United States that requires elected officals to "uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States?" An office holder can maintain any personal belief he wants contrary to a country's constitution, but such belief must be subservient to the country's constitution, such that action taken in furtherance of such belief may have legal consequences. A threshold is definitely crossed when the rhetoric changes from amendments of the constitution (usually requiring a super majority of voter approval for adoption) to wholesale replacement with another form of government.

The Israelis have been far too patient and humane with these criminals. How far will they allow this to go?

Is this grounds for incarceration in Israel? How about here? -- After all -- if "citizens" support an altogether alien legal and social system, one which he/she hopes will subvert and supplant the one they're currently governed under, can't this be considered treasonous?

The US asks its visitors if they have ever been or are members of communist or Nazi parties committedc to overthrow the constitution of the US (or something like that). Some asked if this could be modified to include islam.

I think it is easy to do this. Just ask if they have been, or are members of any movement that wishes to replace the US constitution. That should do it.

I was thinking along the lines that as Islam requires all muslims who declare themselves to be so, are required by the koran to endeavour to establish sharia as the law of the land i.e., replace the constitution.

There is probably (I don't know for sure) a provision for impeachment in Israeli law. Mr. Sarsur could probably be removed from office upon a showing of an impeachable offense and an affirmative vote of impeachment.

Counting on his constituents to remove him would be absurd.

I think what it demonstrates is the limitations of democracy. Democracy as we know it has evolved within a Judeo-Christian framework. It doesn't have some universal, magical potency in the realm of human, earthly affairs. Neither do our laws. Just because a jury, acting according to the mandates of our laws, determines that someone is innocent or guilty in a court of law, doesn't ipso facto RENDER the person LITERALLY innocent or guilty. To make that assumption is to confuse JUSTICE with PROCESS. Our laws are human inventions. Our western laws are merely the least flawed process that human beings have devised to date in order to approximate justice. But we can't lose sight of the fact that these are merely imperfect human laws, forever in flux. They are merely (no more and no less) the best thing we (meaning the best minds that human civilization has so far managed to produce) have managed to come up with so far. And it's taken a bloody long time to accomplish even that level of earthly imperfection.

Now westerners are confronted with the manifest imperfection of what we have constructed, as we can clearly see that we are confronted with a bunch of folks who make no bones whatsoever about their intention to take these imperfect laws (both judicial and political) and turn them around against us and use them as weapons to DESTROY us.

But this is only a conundrum for people who somehow imagine that these western, human, imperfect laws are inviolable and eternal and perfect. Wrong. They were devised within a particular historical context, amongst people who shared a certain basic understanding of "things".

This is what westerners need to address. They need to address the fact that their judicial laws and their political processes are not universal. That they are merely imperfect approximations to justice on earth. I'm not a lawyer or a politician or an historian, or even particularly religious. Far from it. But this just appears to be common sense.

We have to see what IS. Not what we WISH things to be. That's all I know. And of that much I'm certain.

I once heard a Christian Preacher (Jewish) (who supports Israel) say that Israel is a “litmus test” for the world (meaning the “West” I assume). I heard him speak on Bin Laden long before 9/11.

His point was this – that the world tolerated terrorism in Israel (that is we turned a blind eye to her plight), and that terror would come to the West. It did.

Now we see Muslims using our parliament to get rid of that very parliament they infest. Just like the terrorism in Israel v’s terror in the World, the same applies here.

Muslims in the West are using the electoral system to get rid of it – and the pollies do nothing (in Australia there is some Islamic nutter who now has his own registered party “Australia’s Best Party “ – or something along those lines). Why did men and women fight and die protecting our systems of parliament, just so another generation can hand them over to Islamic nutters?

If we keep nurturing Islam in our countries we are inviting our own destruction. Yet people mock such notions (as was demonstrated by the mocking of federal MP Danna Vale in Australia this week).

And I don’t care about the so called “moderates” (can someone give a definition of what “moderate” Islam is?). If there are say 400,000 Muslims in my country and I believe my lying politicians that only a “minority” of them mean my family harm, well say what’s that? 1% if I’m being generous? That still leaves around 4000 Islamic nutters who want to kill me while their “moderate” brethren stay quiet about it (yes yes I know, they haven’t had time to protest the beheading of Christian school girls in Indonesia as they’ve had cartoons to worry about). 4000!!!! If we take it in the USA context, allowing for 1% of Islamic true believers, well that number gets up to around the tens of thousands. What’s that equivalent to? 2- 4 divisions of Islamic terror on USA home soil? Not even the Nazi’s and Jap’s were that successful at invading US territory in WW2.

I always appreciate being corrected. Feeling admonished or reprimanded irritates. The deliberate non acknowledgment 'posting above' is also insulting to resident posters who steer the course and put a lot of time and effort into the counter jihad.
