Mr Howard today stood by his comments, first made in December and before the Cronulla riot.

"There is a small section of the Islamic population in Australia that, because of its remarks about jihad, remarks which indicate an extremist view, that is a problem," he said.

I find Mr. Howard's comments disgraceful. How can he say that this "is a small section of the Islamic population"?

I just had a bad thought. Australians help me out please: are there signs of islamic recruiting among Aboriginals?

There is that word again "Islamaphobia".

If anyone mentions their treatment of women or other intimidating ways - they shout "Islamaphobia". In other words no questions or criticisms are allowed – just as it is in every Islamic State the world over.

Islam's biggest argument is that it is being attacked - but world wide it is doing the most attacking. Aren't those young Lebanese going around in rape gangs and raping Australian women and girls?
[Their Koran also gives them permission to rape a woman if she is not wearing the hijab.]

Whereas the Lebanese Christians there are moving up in society and getting along just fine.

In an attempt to assuage the feelings of such minorities, and deflect accusations of racism or religious discrimination, the government falls in with demands which it should be resisting. The law on inciting religious hatred, for example, was brought to parliament not because it was needed, but as a way of appeasing Muslims. Sharia law is on an altogether different plane. The government must not even think of allowing it to have some sort of official status within our legal system...

It would be inconceivable to allow to flourish in this country a law under which women can be stoned to death for adultery and petty thieves can have both arms amputated; or a series of laws that places women in a permanent state of inferiority and supplication while giving men overwhelming power, including the right to perform acts of violence on their wives.

No doubt this is a temporary aberration, and The Guardian will be full of its usual Bunting cant (to be said in a broad Cockney accent) before long.

Not nearly enough. What is it that makes Downer stress that it is a "tiny minority of the Islamic community," and makes Howard put inthat adjective -- a "small" section of the Islamic population.

It is not a tiny minority. It is not small. Only 40% of Muslims polled in England expressed opposition to the imposition of Shari'a (with 40% in favor, and 20% no comment, which can certainly be assumed to be "in favor"). The Shari'a means not only that Muslims rule, but that the Holy Law of Islam, the Shari'a, by which Infidels are permanently condemned to a status of degradation, humiliation, and physical insecurity (which has always characterized their fate under Islam, over 1350 years, wherever Muslim rule was secure enough, and the Infidels weak enough, as eventually happened everywhere that Islam remained, and outside Western powers did nothing to prevent it).

Howard and Downer should ask themselves how it is that they know that only a "small section" or a "tiny minority" support Jihad, given that the duty of Jihad is incumbent on all Mulsims, sometimes as a collective duty, and sometimes as an individual one. The spectacle of world-wide Muslim delight at 9/11, at Muslim rage at the Danes daring to practice freedom of speech guaranteed in the Western world, and refusing to treat Muhammad as Muslims insist he be treated by everyone, Muslim and non-Muslim alike, the displays of malevolence and violence toward Infdiels all over the world, and the astonishing silence of Muslims -- no demonstrations, no signs of loyallty and rallying-round the Infidel nation-state anywhere, not after the bombings in Madrid, not after the killing and death threats to Dutch political leaders in Amsterdam, not in any distancing from the Danish imams who worked so hard to damage Denmark in the Muslim world, the same country that had given them supposed "refuge" and generous, unstinting support, and left them completely alone -- but it is not enough to note the danger.

What Howard and Downer have done is not enough, even if it is much more than has been yet stated in other Western countries. For they have to stop pretending that it is a matter of a small group, and have to engage in the effort to educate their own population as to what Islamic tenets are, so that the necessary lack of loyalty to Infidel laws, customs, and manners, which is not so much an individual choice but rather insisted upon by Islam itself, by what it inculcates, should be discussed.

Perhaps Howard and Downer have not yet studied Qur'an, Hadith, and Sira. But everyone in the Western world whose duty it is to protect and instruct others must do so, so as to understand what prompts Muslim attitudes and, when they think it possible to get away with it, Muslim behavior.

An unpleasant task. No doubt, one would wish that those words "small" and "tiny" in fact met the case. But how can anyone, reading more and more in the texts, and reading more and more the accounts of historians and even of Western travellers, from the 19th century on when they became more common, of how non-Muslims were treated, especailly in North Africa and the Middle East, but in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa as well -- how can anyone think that this is not a problem intimately connected to Islam itself?

Perhaps Howard and Downer do not yet know, or do not yet think the audience is ready. The audience is ready. People are eager to learn. They want to find out the truth, rather than be fed pabulum and pap. "Islam is to dominate and is not to be dominated." Islam is not merely different from all other faiths; it is the only true faith, and its founder, or putative founder, was a warrior who insisted on raiding, killiing, setting out rules for the division of the booty, and who exhibited features that we, the Infidels, may find horrifying, but that Muslims are taught are part of the life, and works, of the Perfect Man. Abu Akaf, Asma bint Marwan, Aisha, the Khaybar Oasis, the decaptitation of the Banu Qurayza prisoners -- all parts of the Sira, the Life of that Perfect Man.

Or will Infdiels, after the whipped-up Cartoon Days of Rage, enter a world where in order to "show respect" and not to be "provocative" (that word used to shift blame to the Danes for the reaction of frenzied and violent and death-dealing Muslims), be re-educated so as to carefully refrain from discussing (such discussion might show a "lack of respect" that has just been discovered to define the limit of the practice of "free speech" -- which must always show, when to comes to a belief-system called a "religion," such "respect"), what they learn about Islam by reading Qur'an and Hadith and Sira? In other words, the entire world will be bullied into silence, dissenting Muslims and would-be apostates from Islam by death, and Infidels joining them, forced to remain silent or to bleat only quarter-truths, as they wait for the end.

Meanwhile, the Jihad to spread Islam until it takes over more and more of the Lands of the Infidels, sometimes through acts of terror, sometimes through seizure of the main organs of information (the press, radio, television) and of supposed study of Islam (the infiltrationand seizue of power in academic departments supposedly educating young Infidels in the tenets and history of Islam, but everywhere preventing those young Infidels from receiving anything but a sanitized view, beginning with a sanitized Qur'an and avoidance of the Hadith, and with reading-lists so carefully stacked with the Maria-Rosa-Menocal "convivencia" notion, along with the endless victimhood business of Edward Said and his "post-colonial" epigones, the smooth equivocations of Fazlur Rahman or Khaled Abu el Fadl, the sly taqiyya of Tariq Ramadan. And at the same time, the members of this Islamintern International, in whose hands the innocent Infidel studens are putty, to be carefully molded, carefully avoid mentioning, or mention only to heap scorn upon them, the books that offer scholarly study of non-Muslims under Islam (the dhimmi) by Bat Ye'or, the testimonies by ex-Muslims (Anwar Shaikh, Ali Sina, Ibn Warraq), the text-based analyses of Islam offered by Robert Spencer, the collection of both authoritative Muslim commentators and of Western scholars of Islam on the necessity and centrality of Jihad to be found in "The Legacy of Jihad," the reports from the front -- the islamization-of-Europe front -- offered by Bruce Bawer in "While Europe Slept," and so much else that the students, who have no idea what MESA Nostra is all about (if you are a student, a hapeless Infidel now thinking of taking a course to "find out about Islam" -- please first google "MESA Nostra" or "Mark LeVine" or "Khaled Abu el Fadl" and "Hugh Fitzgerald" to find out a little more before you sign up for a course that will offer you a guide to nothing and nowhere).

No, Howard and Downer have taken baby steps. But that is more than the other leaders of the Weswtern world, save for Anders Fogh Rasmussen, have taken -- as they stand there, paralyzed with confusion and timidity, not knowing what to think, what to say, how to act, what to do.

Gary, there are indeed signs of islamic recruiting amongst Australian Aborigines, this mostly occurs in gaol, where there are high concentrations of both Aboriginals and Arabic Muslims (mostly of Lebanese origin). A very prominent Aboriginal convert to islam is the footballer turned boxer and all round loudmouth Anthony Mundine,who infamously proclaimed on Australian morning television that the United States "deserved" 9/11 because of injustices he alledged the USA to have perpetuated against Islam. He was of course roundly condemned by right thinking Australians for these comments and made a hasty public backdown. Hard men turn to Islam to cope with jail

In the Southern Tablelands, in the country's most secure jail, violent men with little to do and nothing to lose are turning to the Koran. Muhammad has come to monsters who may never go to a mosque.

Vester Fernando, of Walgett, got life for rape and murder eight years ago. Two years later he killed his co-offender while both were in Lithgow jail.

Ronald Priestly, of Moree, was in the prison art room when Vester stabbed his cousin, Brendan, to death. Two years earlier, Priestly was charged with murdering a drug dealer in Goulburn jail.

Jimmy Paulson, of Taree, organised a riot with Priestly at Goulburn three years ago. Paulson used a didgeridoo as a pile-driver against a guard's skull.

Peter Buchanan was blamed for attacking a prison officer at Lithgow a month after the Goulburn riot. Four years earlier he had been accused (then acquitted) of stabbing and bashing another prisoner to death at Long Bay. Like more than a fifth of NSW prisoners, Buchanan, Paulson, Priestly and Fernando are Aborigines.

All are jailed under A1 security classifications - one below the AA rung reserved for terrorists.

Housed in the High Risk Management Unit, or Super Max, at Goulburn jail, each has abandoned any notion of the Dreamtime when, spiritual Aborigines believe, the patterns and cycles of life were set.

Fernando, Priestly, Paulson and Buchanan have converted to Islam. In Super Max they bow to a fellow killer: an international fugitive, associate of terrorists and makeshift imam, Bassam Hamzy.

Each has shaved his head, grown a beard, and prays to Allah loudly enough for other inmates to complain. Their custodians keep mug shots taken before and after their conversion.

Watching on bemusedly in Super Max are backpacker killer Ivan Milat, contract killer Lindsay Rose and political assassin Phuong Ngo. Like Fernando, each is in jail until the day he dies.

Under the ethnic clustering ethos of NSW jails - in which Asians, Arabs and Islanders are separated - Aborigines are generally allowed to mix with other races. Their enemies are often Asian and their closest associations are with the Lebanese.

At Super Max their brothers in Islam include the alleged terrorist Faheem Lodhi, triple killer Michael Kanaan, his fellow gang members and killers Rabeeh Mawas and Wassim El-Assaad, killer Mohamed Rustom and pack rapist Bilal Skaf.

Three years ago Kanaan's brother was detected transferring money from Kanaan's bank account into those of Vester Fernando and Bassam Hamzy.

About a third of the three dozen inmates in Super Max are Muslim. Kanaan and El-Assaad were criminal gang associates of Saleh Jamal, who has been convicted of subversive activity in Lebanon.

The commander of security services in NSW jails, Brian Kelly, recently told Four Corners he had seen evidence of "efforts to convert inmates to Islam for probably the wrong reasons".

"We haven't really had evidence for terrorist purposes in itself but when it's for the wrong reason, and when it's targeting violent people, it is a concern," he said.

The Corrective Services Commissioner, Ron Woodham, told Four Corners he was worried about Aboriginal inmates serving long sentences converting to Islam. "Some of these people, ah, convert - in their mind they convert and they convert back," he said. "But we're worried where certain prisoners that are doing very long sentences, as an example, denounce their Aboriginality for Islam.

"We monitor them very closely … To us they're not terrorists in the real sense but they talk the talk. So if we had somebody who was recruiting in a prison … we keep them away from people that might be susceptible to the conversion."

Some of the alleged terrorists arrested in Sydney last week are on remand in Goulburn but not necessarily in Super Max. Most others are at Lithgow, some at Silverwater and Omar Baladjam, shot in the neck during the raids, is in Long Bay's hospital.

If convicted, they will each take one of the 40 unused places in the 75-cell Super Max, already on its way to becoming known as Goulburn's super mosque.

Muslim missionaries -- those of Hizb ut-Tahrir and freelance -- are hard at work on the captive audience of prisoners. For where else has there been gathered in one place those who are already alienated from society, resentful, economically and very likely psychically marginal, who would welcome some Total Regulation of Life and Complete Explanation of the Universe.

The problem for Infidels is that they appear to beleive that this kind of activity -- the most important part of the Jihad to spread Islam until the number of Muslims is sufficient (it need hardly be a majority, just as in the early Muslim conquests very few Muslims were able to conquer Infidel lands and establish, through the immediate installation of Muslim rule, a situation in which non-Muslims were quickly terrorized into submission to the Islamic rules, and to their own loss, here rapid and there less rapid, to the islamization of their own countries, and their submission to the status of dhimmi). In some places it was immediate; in others the local non-Muslims held on for centuries (the Copts remained the majority in Egypt until the mass forced conversions of the 13th century).

Everywhere in the Western world Muslims are greatly overrepresented in the prison population. In France, 70% of the prisoners are Muslim. Imagine the intimidation of the non-Muslims, who in order to get along will find it hard to resist becoming Muslims. Then, they will find it almost impossible to get out, and in many cases will find the instant "community" of fellow Muslims a source of support. Furthermore, Islam does not regard robbery or rape, where the victims are Infidels, to be crimes. As Bruce Bawer reports one Norwegian imam explaining to those in his mosque, stealing from Infidels was simply an "appropriation" of the Jizyah which should, in the conditions which by right ought to obtrain, that is Muslim rule, be handed over anyway. If the Norwegian Infidels still thought of themselves as under no obligation to pay the Jizyah, then taking it from them -- just as helping oneself to "their women" who were asking for it in any case by refusing to dress in a manner that Muslims deemed appropriate -- was islamically justified.

This is not an imaginary problem. The turning to Islam of a prisoner, now having his alienation and hatred of society justified by an entire belief-system, a belief system that turns him into not merely a criminal, but into a determined enemy of all Infidels, is a direct threat to the collective, and individual, security of Infidels.

That this is not recognized, that everyone is too timid to discuss this, and certainly no Infidel government has made it a policy to block the menacing work of those Islamic missionaries beavering away among the psychically most vulnerable members of Infidel society, who then become even more of a danger, for now their crimes are no longer seen by them as crimes, but as part of a struggle in which they are in the right, and can do as they wish -- or as they can get away with -- as far as Infidels and their silly Infidel laws are concerned.

The govenments of the Western, Infidel world should take a look at how this kind of thing would be handled -- ruthlessly -- in Japan, in Korea, in China. Are the Japanese, the Koreans, the Chinese, completely unacceptable in the way in which they choose to deal with perceived threats? Are we, the Infidels, to be rendered helpless by the mental handcuffs we forged ourselves, and then managed to close around our own wrists? These are mind-forged manacles indeed.

Monitor, limit, counterattack against all the efforts to spread Islam among the psychically and economically marginal, looking for The Way, The Total Explanation, the Complete Regulation.

Use whatever information is likely to lessen the appeal of Islam. The long history of Arab enslavement of blacks should be used for black prisoners, and black ministers should be supplied with whatever resources they need to fully teach about the history of Arab castration of tens of millions of young black males (start with the distribution of a popular version of "The Hideous Trade" by Jan Hogedoorn). Explain that slavery is a permanent feature of Islam, because it is recognized in the immutable text of the Qur'an, and Muhammad was a slave-owner -- and Muhammad was the Perfect Man. Thus slavery has only been abolished in response to Western pressure (and is still practiced in Mali, Mauritania, Sudan, and by some accounts, in Saudi Arabia, unperceived or miscomprehended by Westerners who know so little about that religious-police state).

Explain that once you are in Islam, you can't get out. Explain what Islam says about art and music. Explain that Islam, in its inshallah-fatalism, is a prescription for economic disaster -- and that the receipt of $10 trillion in oil revenues has created only a Las-Vegas like building spree, but no real economy. All the Muslim states are still dependent on wage-slaves from Asia and Europe to do their real work -- especially Saudi Arabia.

Explain to women prisoners what the real role of women is in Islam. The ideal is the Shari'a, and it is observed most closely in Saudi Arabia, Irna, and the Sudan. Explain what women can and cannot do in those countries. What does it mean never to leave the house except with a male relative as chaperone? What does it mean to be one of several wives, wives who if disobedient can and indeed should, according to the Qur'an, be beaten, but "lightly"? What does it mean to discourage at every level full equality of the sexes?

Oh, there is plenty to be said, to make the spread of Islam even among prisoners less attractive. Possibly a book of testimonies by ex-Muslims, describing how they discovered what Islam was all about and why they left it, a book such as "Leaving Islam" by Ibn Warraq, could be prepared and widely distributed.

But none of this will happen unless Western governments and churches (can they take time from their busy schedules of listening to "Palestinians" promoting anti-Israel divestment plans to consider checking Islam -- or do they not want, these churches, even to recognize or begin to hint at recognizing, what Islam is all about?) realize that the threat of Da'wa is at least as menacing to the future of Infidels in their own lands, as any acts planned by Bin Laden.

Never a hint of trying to assimilate into Australian society, rather it is always playing the victim of criticism. The fact is that Muslims refuse to assimilate because there religion teaches a complete and totalitarian way of living. And yet they still come with the determination that they can convert western countries to their Ideology. It is the most important thing for western goverments to understand that this is, and has always been their objective.

Even this is probably an exaggeration. It is certainly not true for the UK - other groups do have problems being "absorbed by [the] mainstream". Nevertheless, it is also true to say that no other group is as unassimilable as Muslims (for reasons that should not surprise anyone who has researched and thought about the matter).

But the integration of large numbers of people who don't share a common culture is always a difficult business. And the trouble here is that the political establishment in Western countries is politically ill-educated and defaults to the cosy and rather thin assumptions of the liberal ideology. They are, if you like, anthropologically ignorant.

Liberal ideology sees political organization in abstract and universalist terms and fails to see that it is also tied up with loyalties and other more particular and problematic matters.

The conservative philospher Roger Scruton, while making rather generous concessions to the Islamic position on the cartoons and similar images, makes this damning point about the liberal establishment:

Actually this has happened in this country in the matter of immigration. As we all know, the cost of expressing reservations about the growth of Muslim ghettos in our cities was, at the time when this might have been avoided, far too great to take the risk. Now we must live with the consequences, and they are only just beginning.

Enoch Powell many years ago, when mass immigration was only just beginning expressed just such reservations, famously alluding in a speech to the Sybill's prophecy in the Aeneid: "Like the Roman, I seem to see the River Tiber foaming with much blood."

The classical reference probably went over the heads of most of the politicians, reporters, and other opinion formers who chose to vilify him. He was damned as a racist and driven out of the Conservative Party. However, I've never seen any evidence ever to show that Powell was a racist. (Even Tony Benn admitted as much.) The fact remains that, unlike his ignorant and loud-mouthed critics, he was well-read in political science and knew that the seeds of conflict were being sown. And I'm sure, if he had lived, it would have given him no pleasure to point to the blood shed in London on 7/7 and say, "I told you so".

We can only hope that assimilation will be possible in the long run. But that ignorance and complacency should have brought us to this pass ...

Of course Mr. Roude is opposed to assimilation.

The countries of Europe must elect right to right-of-center governments who can find ways to weaken the power of the EU over their sovereignty. Part of the problem in Europe is that the EU's elitist cultural Marxism prevents the PEOPLE of the various nation-states (yes, we still exist!) from participating in self-government. I sat through a lecture from a number of Commissioners after France and Holland failed to ratify the Constitutional Treaty and they had the most condescending, dismissive attitude toward the populace: don't they know this is for their own good; don't they see we know best? It's as if the democratic revolutions had never happened. Brussels sets a very politically correct tone and implements absurd, unpopular "directives" that have nothing to do with people's actual concerns ("let's try to ban smoking across Europe!"). What happened during Austria's coalition government with Haider is proof of their intolerance to the people's will. It is they who gave political life to this multicultural ruse conjured up in academia; it is they who must be stopped first if the nations are to solve it. It is as if Europe were ruled by a fifth-column set out to destroy its culture and heritage, hostile to Christianity, obssessed with legalistic, abstract declarations of meaningless "rights." What we need is the right to self-government, something no Eurocrat will ever give us - we must fight for it and earn it. I can't wait to return to Italy and see what has happened over the last five years. I'm starting to see just how bad it is. Did we ever vote to import 20 Million Muslims? I certainly do not recall that election.

I think John Howard is one of the more impressive Australian Prime Ministers. Since he arrived at the top Australia seems to have become a much more credible and serious country

One of the many spokesmen, Ameer Ali, told us to "just ignore" these "extremists" and "they'll go away". Yeah, sure, Ali. Hard to ignore mass murders. Note how he doesn't condemn them, just tells us to mind our own business.

Is it similar to "spin" in America -- the deliberate twisting of facts to suit your purpose? Is that the "spin out" he's talking about? The one where Muslims trigger acts of violence against "infidels" and then "spin" the story to depict themselves as the ultimate victims? This was the same putrescent drool they spit at us after 9/11 -- they got the media to believe that THEY were the victims in an imaginary "backlash" (it never materialized) The Muslims invented it and then amplified it -- but it was a nearly complete lie... There were very few acts against the Muslim community in America -- and many of those ended up being perpetrated by the Muslims themselves... Well, like any Muslim in Australia, Trad is adamant that the Cronulla riots were simply and solely an act of Aussie racism and that the poor Muslims are victims of that. The "spin out" he's referring to is this wide-held opinion that the Cronulla riot was a desperate reaction to years of Muslim racism towards non-Muslims, and that people had just had enough of police and politician deliberate inaction and of being abandoned to these thugs and their racism. This opinion is fact, the root cause of the Cronulla riot. Yes, it was ugly and embarrassing, but vigilante action is never civilized and pretty.

But of course, Trad and ilk, will never admit to that, and prefer instead to denigrate those facts as "spin out". You know, the "Jew-controlled media" and the Islamophobic Aussies twisting the facts to make the poor, oppressed Muslim look bad and suffer yet more "backlash" and "negative stereotypes".

They'd rather cut their own tongues out than admit any responsibility for the Cronulla protest.

Well, APF, the only problem I have with "Islamophobia" is that a phobia is an irrational fear of something. And in Islam's case, it is totally rational, normal and very wise to have a fear of Islam. Actually, it should be a 'fear and loathing' of Islam.

People who call us Islamophobes do so sneeringly, as if we're suffering from some silly fear of spiders or heights, and need psychological help to overcome it. But, since there's no other appropriate term, then yes, I'm proud to be Islamophobe too, given that the accusation comes from Muslims and their appeasers.

But the curtailment will have to be engineered with much subtlety and Howard is a master of the art.

Yes, chevalier, you're very correct in that observation. All the talking-heads are very Western in appearance. Very "moderate" looking. Note how that embarrassing, both-feet-in-big-stupid-mouth Hilaly is suddenly gone from the limelight. He was always front and centre, spouting the most outrageous things with his loyal lap dog, Trad, trying to assure us he was just being "taken out of context" or "mistranslated". Now it's almost as if he's left the country (we can only wish!).

In his place, we have all these nice-sounding representatives trying to make excuses, and harrumph in outrage at people, like Howard, who state the bleeding obvious. But it's difficult to fool us anymore. Our society looks at one's actions. Words are just words. Muslims don't seem to get that. They seem to think that all they have to do is tell us how it is and we'll stupidly believe them, and ignore all their actions that totally contradict their words. More and more people are seeing the reality.

I have written to Mr. Howard praising his anti-dhimmitude and asking him to look deeper and to protect the West against islam's creeping putrefaction

I have also emailed John Howard to tell him how thankful i am that he is at the helm in these difficult times. We could not have a better statesman as PM!

An individual had complained that the imam of Drummond Street mosque in Carlton had made comments vilifying gay people (MCV #156) to his congregation. But Gay and Lesbian Liaison Officer Melinda Edwards said she was "satisfied the matter has been thoroughly investigated - - - and there was no evidence to substantiate the claims" of vilification.

I would like to see a Royal Commission investigate just how much Muslim immigrants contribute to Australia.

I want to see a stock-take and an evaluation if there are any real benefits at all to Australian society: Are Mohammedans gainfully employed? Do they own and run businesses, are they paying taxes and how much, and how much is the 'ummah' receiving in welfare payments and benefits, (we know already Australia is paying a 100 million dollars p.a. for mosques and madrassahs, this must stop at once)

Are they an asset or a liability? (guess you know the answer to that one...!)

And how much do we need for security and for policing?
And what does it take to keep these infil-traitors under control so they will not do what they tell us they will do anyway: To make Australia Islamic, to out-breed us until they have critical mass so they can ship us out?

These people never get, it do they? They come into secular western countries with all their 7th century baggage and expect others to tow their line. Get a life or stay in your Islamic paradises. All other immigrants whether Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs & others intergrate well into these societies, but no - not the Muslims they want their own kingdom established.
