Great news, when will the UK & US papers follow this good example of the free press and publish the Mohamed cartoons?
If the muslims dont like it, they are free to leave the West. In any case we never invited them over here. They came of their own volition to the secular west. They cannot have it both ways.

I have been following this whole ‘cartoon outrage’ for what seems like forever now and I’m disgusted. I was disgusted by the hypocritical, holier-than-thou, indignant, repulsive fundamental and fanatical Muslims and their two-faced actions for quite some time, but this is absolutely absurd. It’s laughable that they’re in such an uproar over silly little cartoon pictures of some Arabian guy labeled ‘Mohammed’ in them. You can’t swing a dead cat around in Islamic countries without hitting several Mohammeds, so why isn’t there an uproar over the theft and overuse of their prophet’s name?

Even more amazing is just how tame these images are. Sure, there’s a guy with a bomb for a turban. So what? Why is that so awful? Isn’t martyrdom a good thing that all good jihadists aspire to? God forbid there ever comes along a REAL blasphemous picture that portrays good ol’ Mo in a totally evil light …as he probably should be portrayed in the eyes of anyone who’s ever been attacked by any of his legion of followers throughout the ages.

Hey -! What do you know …? I’m ‘illustr8rg8r’ and, like my moniker may imply, I’m an illustrator and I have just put the finishing touches on my most evil, repulsive, and most blasphemous piece of artwork that is certainly guaranteed to make the drawings of good ol’ Mo look bland by comparison! Don’t believe me? Well …if anyone wants it, I’m looking for recipients. No strings attached, no copyright, no nothing –feel free to use it, to spread it, and to get across to the masses of sleeping infidels that we are being invaded, attacked, and overrun by a death-worshipping cult of boiling hatred that wants to take away our freedoms and, those who don’t submit, dead. Put it on t-shirts, put it on billboards, make posters –I DON’T CARE! The only thing I have to offer in the struggle against Islamic Jihad is my ability to draw and that’s what I’m contributing. I have a God-given talent (honed somewhat through many years of schooling and several more in the real word professionally) I have an open mind, and I have the freedom of expression and I will use all of those things to the utmost to convey my thoughts. I’m not an especially religious person, but I know ‘evil’ and crimes against humanity when I see it. If there is a Muslim anywhere that doesn’t like the fact that I see these things and wish to convey them through art, he can go pound sand. If he or she is upset or angry, he or she can get over it –no one living or dead is above scrutiny or insult. If you’re on this planet, you’re a perfectly fine target of ridicule. If you have beliefs, that’s fine, but when your beliefs are confronted and made fun of, you need to grow a thick skin and just let those insults slide off your back. Take comfort that you have a belief system that others may not, believe what you believe, and to hell with everyone else if they don’t like it –you don’t throw tantrums like a child, kick and scream, demand apologies, and expect to be treated as an equal especially when your own kind have been guilty of just as blasphemous actions. This is the 21st century, modern times, not the 7th century.

The infidel jihad is on! The cartoon jihad is on! Holding mirrors up to the evils inflicted on mankind by his fellow man is happening right now In Denmark, Norway, and now France, Italy, Spain and I am calling on anyone who wishes this plague removed from societies the world over to join in and draw, pain, create, and make works of art that offends the delicate Muslim sensibilities. Let them show their anger to the world as the world simply laughs at them in return –we can defeat their smug self-righteousness by parodies and by expressing our freedoms (those things they know nothing about under their oppressive systems) and let those pictures be worth a thousand words and let thousands upon thousands of pictures be created and unleashed upon the Muslim word until their Allah-worshipping heads pop!

I can only offer one viewpoint that I totally respect and admire about the Muslims: their devotion. The only thing wrong is that I feel their devotion is for the wrong God. That’s what started my idea for the picture…

no news yet on whether any UK paper will publish them though - but since this getting so big, i wouldnt be surprised if a number of them publish the cartoons tommorow.

And while we are at it, let's hope at the Oscars all those Brave Defenders of Freedom will speak out about attempts all over the world to employ economic boycotts, severing of diplomatic relations, and even death threats to Danes, the right of a newspaper in tolerant easygoing Denmark, a Western country, with Western standards of free speech.

Indeed. At this point there is no way they are going to get their demands fulfilled. The only thing they achieve from now on is that their attempt to impose censorship will be challenged more and harder.

This could end up being one of those turning points in history, since eventually the various muslim governments will have to decide whether they want to take this to the extreme and isolate themselves completly from the west, or back down and accept that other countries have a right to choose their own laws.

So far I havent seen any calls for boycotts against all these new countries. A pretty clear sign that they are smart enough to realise that its one thing to boycott a small insignificant country of 5 million people, and something completly different to boycott the major powers in the EU.

Also, in the Netherlands, the newspaper 'Algemeen Dagblad', normally a very leftist newspaper, critisized the Muslim cartoon rage, with a cynical column of Hugo Borst and an interview with Afshin Ellian. I did not expect such a thing from the A.D., to be honest.

The BBC has not published them but does have a Have Your Say "debate", about them. I use the word debate advisedly as the forum is heavily moderated, and we know what that means with the BBC.

However all the most recommended comments are in favour of publication, and that Islam has to get used to free speech. Now it seems that 50 recommendations is the point at which a comment critical of Islam is removed. This is the most recommended at 51 at 6.30 on a cold evening in the UK.

I know this might not be the right place to write this, but I have a little information from the danish TV2/Lorry news that I am watching right now.

They are reporting on an incredibly stupid suggestion that in order to attempt to solve the conflict, the danish state should give the muslims a mosque in Copenhagen (something they have wanted for many years). Amazingly the suggestion was made by a prominent jew, Herbert Pundik, who is the chief editor for another major danish newspaper. Its currently being supported by the mayor of Copenhagen, Ritt Bjerregaard of the Socialdemocrat party.

Thankfully, there has also been statement from more intelligent people saying that this would be a very bad idea since it would been seen as a subservient tribute paid to the superior muslims.

There was also an interview with a danish muslim, who said that he found it was a bad idea. But that was because he felt it was not enough!

I am fairly confident that our government is smart enough to deny any talks about paying this kind of bribe/tribute to people that are threathning terrorist actions. But only time will tell.

I would be very surprised if any British newspaper published the cartoons, though I may be wrong. For one thing, Parliament just passed the law against religious hatred; this was not brought in in the form the governement wanted but would probably catch the publication - though it may be the law will not come into force for some time.

To some extent this is all a pity. It is certain the new law was brought in to please/appease Muslims. Blair's reward to them for I don't quite know what. It would have been interesting to say the cartoons appearing all over the EU - and legally attackable in Britain! Might have helped put paid to the law.

archduke, I fear you are too optimistic. Recall those stories where people, mainly Christians made remarks deemed homophobic, and then were visited and interrogated re possible crimes by the police. And then dear Iqbal Sacranie said the same kind of thing (or worse) and nothing happened.

If there is anything left of the law, it will be used against those saying anything to hurt the tender sensibility of the Muslims, who for their part can say what they like.

I'd still be delighted if the cartoons were published tomorrow. Perhaps a little hope from the Telegraph or the Times?

simple solution for Britain and the USA:

Write to your local newspaper where Moslems live and hate and say that if they do not publish the cartoons you will have to start burning korans in public... You could further suggest that if Islam is the religion of peace then there will only be peaceful protest to such an act. You could go further and say that if the god they worship existed why would he need them to punish someone who offends him...

They can burn danish flags and say they should be killed. Burning a few books is not at all offensive in comparison. (If you are civilised that is)

You can download a PDF copy, too. I wish someone would print thousands of copies in full color and distribute them to infidels everywhere.

so to sum up, it is likely that saying "all muslims are terrorists" would be illegal. whilst "mohammed was a paedo - its in the koran" would be ok.

this is an important distinction - it allows you to be highly critical of a religion, but not to tar everyone in that religion.

curiously, the law extends to ALL belief systems - including atheism.

trouble is , a mullah reading from the Koranic verses where it says "kill the jews" or something similar , could technically be arrested for this, as he could be viewing as stirring up hatred against all jews - even though he is quoting directly from the Koran.

Nazi book burning spree is before my time but I remember TV pictures of moslems burning salman rushdie books.

I don't think burning books is very clever, but the mere threat of it should focus the minds of the authorities but probably wont because they think islam is peaceful....

Also we have support from Hungary, the Hungarian Foreign Affairs Minister Ferenc Somogyi stated that freedom of speech is the foundation of European democracy and cannot be curtailed therefore the reaction of the islamic world is unacceptable.

Granny, I loved the Have Your Say comments. Did you see that all of the ones defending the Cartoon Rage debacle were written by Muslims in various countries?

These people blow me away, how worked up they can get over a depiction of their prophet. Maybe it is disrespectful, and maybe not, but how many times have we seen less than favorable depictions of Jesus in all sorts of media? Does this bring a response from the known world? Do Christians protest and make threats to those who have offended? I think not, Christians as a whole are far more accepting and tolerant, no matter what our haters of our culture say.

We allow complete and free expression of all religions in our western countries, while these people continue to oppress every culture and religion they come into contact with. Countries like Turkey which is always celebrated in the west for being secular and moderate, does not allow the Greek Orthodox Cathederal of Agia Spohia to function as as church to this day. It is only allowed to act as a museum. Can you believe this, this is the equivalent of the Vatican for Catholics and it is only allowed to act as a museum under Muslim rule.

How can anyone in their right mind say that Islam is moderate and peaceful, when its most moderate countries no nothing, but oppression of all that are not Muslim.

Listen guys, the issue here is that the bunch of artists who were indulged in such drawings obviously did it for the sake of money...I mean, this is what they do for a living and definitely they are sort of guys whose motto is “do it and think it over later”.

There is one reason I can think why US, Britain and Australian governments will not like to see these cartoons published. It is for the reason that they are waging a far more serious war in islamic lands. Britain has posted a large detachment of troops to Afghanistan. Thus the US and Britain are the most heavily committed in Iraq and Afghanistan. The situation is dangerous enough for our soldiers. It would get far more, if British or US papers published the cartoons, as it would not just be the terrorists but ordinary civilians who would be shooting at our soldiers.

And the future - only the US and Britain and with some help from Australia, are likely to be involved in the coming wars in the ME. They can only do so if they can convince the world and their own populations, that they have no anti-islamic views, and are doing so only to further democracy or some other noble cause.

birdseye, for a glimpse of how much muslims respect "other religions", read the Qur'an. If that doesn't enlighten you, proceed to the Sira, which should surely do the trick. These canonical texts will provide valuable insight into the character of the prophet and the dark and hideous nature of Islam. A word of advice: the Qur'an, unlike the Bible, is not rife with metaphor and allegory. What you read is what it means.

There is no equivalency between Islam and any other religion; it is in a league of its own.

Why do you keep saying the cartoons are hateful? They're mildly accurate. Mohammad wielded the sword. He had an angry expression. And the bomb on Mohammad's head? Well, that's a connection modern-day Islamists have made (My guess is that they combine verses like 4:66--"slay yourselves" in Allah's cause...with verses like 8:60--use whatever means are in your power, to the utmost, in Allah's cause). The cartoonist is merely reflecting and commenting on reality, on the association that some Islamists have, rather insistently, made, in linking Mohammad and bombs.

Of course, if they were really accurate, there would be one with Mohammad raping a nine-year-old girl, ordering the beheading of Jews, giving orders to his black slave, executing mockers and critics, etc.

What you are saying doesn't sound like it comes from a bird's eye view. Birds have very good eyesight. Some of them, such as eagles, have vision that is 8X as powerful in resolution as the human eye. And when they survey the terrain, they do so from lofty heights, surveying a huge territory. Some birds, such as crows, are quite intelligent.

1. People at this site include Christians, atheists, agnostics, deists (I suspect, but won't name names), Jews, Hindus, etc., and even Muslims.

2. Again, how can you pass judgement on this without knowing the respective ideologies? Read the Gospels (containing the word of God according to Christians). Read the Koran (whole book is the word of Allah according to Muslims). Form your opinions on that basis.

3. If you are non-religious, why do you blindly say things like this "...does not mean that Moslems have to be ok with anybody who insults their Mohammad..."

They don't have to be okay with it at all. They just have to handle it in a mature fashion, and refrain from appeals to force including death threats. Do you follow? Do you grasp the difference between a CARTOON and a DEATH THREAT?

In a free democratic society, people are allowed to lampoon Jesus, Mohammad, or any other religious or political figure. No one figure gets special immunity from criticism. Why is this hard for you to grasp? What will happen if everyone in society is required to show undeserved unconditional respect is that those people who are the most aggressive and dictatorial and exploitive, with the weakest ideas, will prevail.

Let me add something here...Don’t you think we westerners should act logically and not to be driven by emotions since we are the nations that try to spread the concept of democracy...Or do you all simply want us to go backwards to where it used to say “when you fight the devil, be the devil himself”...I am not saying that the Moslem world are evil (and I really apologize if I did) but I am not defending them either...they are minority and we are majority...We need to approach one another in a better way other wise this earth will not last for a little while.

l have a great idea for anyone artistic, what would Mohammad look like if here were in the Winter Olympics? you could picture him going down the ski sloops in Italy with his bomb turban and sword taking care of his competitors the same way he did in life. you could do muslim women skating with their burkas! lots of stuff to do for the upcoming winter olympics in Italy!

The NRC Handelsblad in the Netherlands published one of the cartoons along with the following (loosely translated):

The 'Danish issue' now occupies the emotions outside of Scandinavia and the islamic world. That much is evident from the letter of this (and other) readers. The Danish newspaper Jyllands Posten publicized, now some months ago, a series of satirical cartoons of the prophet Mohammed which enraged muslims in- and outside of Denmark. The chief editor of that paper has apologized for the 'pain' that a lot muslims suffered because of this. Not at the time of the publication.

NRC Handelsblad published in the monday edition in the foreign section one of the debated Danish cartoons. One we found representative for the series. We have done our primary journalistic duty: to inform the reader. Also by showing what this is about.

The disputed drawings are according to us - although not quite all well done - within the cultural context of a newspaper from the Netherlands relatively innocent. Of course it is a pity when people feel hurt, but that's also part of our liberal-democratic society from time to time. Freedom of speech should also in this case be at the front.

Annoyance about the satirical drawings is by no means a muslim-only territory. Not all reads of this newspaper are happy wit hall satirical writings that they will find inside this paper. We recently received a lot of hurt reactions on a sour drawing by Kamagurka on the subject of 'cradle death'. Also for that goes: we understand those reactions. The reader can expect from us that we will keep in mind the limits of the allowed, but firstmost we want to ensure the freedom of the aritst by all means.

The Danish issue has because of the religious character of the cartoons an extra sensitive payload. Especially given the ealier affair surrounding Salman Rushdie and the murder on Theo van Gogh. The depiction of God or the prophet is a living taboo for a lot of muslims. We encountered this a few years ago when some of our deliverers tore the photo of the qur'an from the cover of the monthly magazine M.

The reader thinks that 'we' should react sharply. But what is sharp? This paper holds to the principle that artists, here as well as in Denmark, have a comparable freedom like people who write columns. Attempts to impact the freedom of speech because of high sensitivity should be disapproved of. But an organized action to cure the muslims through all European frontpages of that high sensitivity does not become a paper striving for objectivity.

Such a signal has a place in the opinion section where the opinion of the paper, our own column writers and artists can be found.

This is why this piece is also in that section.

There becomes a big problem when the free press is unable to speak again for fear of intimidating. The press owes it, i repeat OWES it to the public to inform us accurately without fear of what Muslims around the world think. While i may admit this may not have been the most tactful way of analyzing the censorship issue, there remains no need for the dutch paper to apologize. i mean the attitude of muslims border on hipocrisy. First, Millions of dollars are sent in aid yearly by the EU to the palestinians, but those same people are among those boycotting the danish products. Secondly, the muslims have not once protested when people are beheaded, when people are kidnapped. are they saying prophet mohammed if alive would have looked kindly on the things they do in his name. Thirdly, if they cannot look at a situation like mature people, instead prefer resorting to violence, then sending any form of aid to the palestinians, would just encourage the apology for a hamas government to get away with violence and hypocrisy. While islam is a noble religion, most of the so-called adherents are an irony for believers. they do exactly what they preach against, drink alcohol more than anybody, sleep with women who are not their wives and treat their women in a lousy manner. so give me one good reason why the muslims think a special place should be earmarked for them in history. Did the christains fight or burn flags or kill themselves when that evil excuse for an iranian president made his offensive statements against isreal. Did the Isreali's kill anybody for that. The press has the right to its freedom of speech and expression without intimidation from anyone especially people who feel they can get away with murder but no one can talk bad about them. Lastly, the british people are paying the BBC for their license to watch TV, so have every right to see the pictures like anyone else. Any contrary action would reveal a deep fear by the BBC for the muslims.

Immigration is a good thing, unless the immigrants are 3rd world DEVOUT Moslems. I myself have immigrated to Sweden (beautiful country, beautiful people, kind people – but like that rest of the West, ignorant about Islam).

In the West, we assume that if an immigrant comes to our country that they will try to assimilate into our culture and accept our values. This is generally true of all immigrants except devout Moslems. They have been so brainwashed by their religion that they cannot accept a non-moslem culture. Please note that I am talking about the DEVOUT MOSLEMS. I am not talking about the Moslems who were only Moslem for fear of being put to death. They were religious prisoners in their old countries! Usually when they get to the West, they find the courage to leave Islam!

The good people (countries) of the West bring these devout Moslems in not knowing the truth behind Islam. Islam IS a religion of TERROR! It has been from the start!

I started learning about Islam after one of them murdered my mother by crashing a plane back on Oct 31, 1999. What I have learned is MIND BLOWING to say the least.

Before my mother’s murder, I believed what I HEARD about Islam. That it is a religion of PEACE and that they worship the same God that the Jews and the Christians worship. The people of the West and their governments also believe this and therefore believe that the Moslems should be able to become good immigrants.

I now know I was given INCORRECT information by UNINFORMED people regarding the Islamic religion. Here is what I have learned. As far as what I am about to say, don’t just take my word as the truth, study about “their prophet” and how their religion grew for yourself and you too will know the truth. You will soon understand that the God THEY worship is NOT the God we worship!

Now please understand that what I am about to say is purely a western viewpoint because the Moslems see it entirely different. What I have learned is that Mohammed was a murdering, sadistic, raping, thieving, lying, slave trading, warmongering, pedophile, who had no problem assassinating anyone who spoke up against him or against “HIS” religion. These ARE documented historical facts; find them yourself!

In short - Mohammed and his band of followers started out by ROBBING the caravans that traveled the desert. He KILLED the caravan people if they tried to defend themselves and sometimes even when they did not try to defend themselves, and he then took their loot for himself and his followers.

He would attack the villages around him and kill off the men, take the women and children as SLAVES for himself and his followers and of course he would take their possessions. Any female slaves he desired were then RAPED. The historical records talk about him desiring a married woman of a family of UNBELIEVERS, so he killed her husband and raped her that night! It is in THEIR book!

Even though he had numerous wives and many slave girls, one day he saw his adapted son’s wife in some state of undress and suddenly had an urge for her. He told his son to divorce the woman so that he could have her. The son complied and Mohammed took her. (In the West, we WOULD NOT consider this to be a MORAL man!)

One wife he married when she was 6 years old. This is OK because there were many child marriages back then but there was NO sex until the girl well past the onset of puberty and so was 11 to 16 years old. In the West Mohammed would be defined as a PEDOPHILE because he strongly desired sex with this child bride. Finally when she was 9 years old, he had sex with her. It is written that at that moment she was playing dolls with her friends when the women came to take her to Mohammed. – Draw your own conclusions.

There are also stories of very SADISTIC acts carried out by Mohammed. For example, some man who committed some crime and when he refused to “repent” Mohammed cut off an arm and a leg. Day(s) later, the man still refused to repent and the prophet cut off his other arm and leg. Day(s) later the last refusal to repent lead to the burning out of the eyes, cutting out his tongue and dragging him out into the desert to die with the warning that anyone who tried to help this man would suffer the same fate. To which the Moslem “HOLY” book exclaims “Mohammed, the Merciful, the Just!” In the West we consider this to be SADISTIC!

FINALLY --- AND MOST IMPORTANTLY!!! Anybody who SPOKE AGAINST Mohammed was put to DEATH ! Anyone who SPOKE AGAINST ISLAM, was put to DEATH ! Anyone WHO LEFT ISLAM, was put to DEATH !

There is the story of 2 unrelated people, from the village that took the Mohammedans in when they were just starting out, who were shocked by what Mohammed and his followers were doing. They each wrote some kind of poem that painted Mohammed in a less than favorable light. The man was ASSASINATED in his sleep and likewise the woman was ASSASINATED in her sleep as well as her ENTIRE FAMILY!

The reason why this is so IMPORTANT is that, with ANYONE who spoke out against Mohammed or Islam, or even who left Islam once they had converted to Islam (or was born into Islam) being put to DEATH -- NO ONE SPOKE OUT ! NO ONE QUESTIONED ISLAM AND NO ONE TRIED TO LEAVE ISLAM !

People converted to Islam out of FEAR because people who were Moslem could not be killed by Mohammed’s army! They could NOT be made into slaves (only unbelievers could be slaves)! They could keep their property and they would have the protection of Mohammed’s army against the unbelievers. Covet thy unbelieving neighbor’s property – it is yours for the taking!

The Moslems excuse the killing, robbing and enslaving because he was waging God’s War against the nonbelievers! The Moslems say that if a woman is your slave, it is NOT rape when you have sex with her because you own her and she has no say in the matter. They say he was not a pedophile because the 9 year old was his wife. The Moslems ignore the other transgressions of Mohammed because AS God’s Prophet, there was ONE SET OF RULES that applied to Mohammed and ANOTHER SET of rules that applied to the rest of Islam.

The Moslems have been so indoctrinated that after 1,400 years, they truly believe BADMOUTHING Islam by ANYONE deserves death! They do not and cannot understand a FREE society.

Islam spread through war and rape. After Mohammed died, the various tribes started to leave Islam. The Mohammedan Army put a quick stop to that by killing the apostates. The Mohammedan Armies continued to wage war and Islam spread. The stories of how the holy warriors would move into an area, slaughter the men and place the women into harems are again – historical fact! Make a lot of babies with these women and soon Islam is the law of the land without question.

After the Islamists entered the Christian lands, the Christians fought back and stopped the Islamic advance into the West. And IN A COMPLETE REWRITING OF HISTORY, it is the Moslems who claim it was the Christians who attacked and waged a crusade against Islam! The Moslem wars against India saw incredible CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY waged against the Indian people! Historical FACT – just find it for yourself.

Christianity did not spread through war. Buddhism did not spread through war. Zoroasterism did not spread through war. Only Islam spread through war.

There is SO much more to this story, you need to find it and understand it for yourself. I believe that once the truth is known, Islam will be exposed for the terroristic religion it truly is! I know people here who were Moslem, who came to the West and when they found out the truth about their religion of “PEACE”, promptly left it knowing that they would not be put to death in the free countries of the West (although in reality, some have been murdered here for leaving Islam).

--An Unbeliever who now faces the death penalty for speaking the truth of Islam!
