A professor posts the Muhammad cartoons on his office door...and ends up surrounded by a group of angry, shouting "youths." Perhaps like those "youths" in France we were hearing so much about not too long ago. "Lecturer stirs outrage after posting drawings," from CP, with thanks to Penkill:
HALIFAX—A peaceful protest turned tense yesterday when some Muslim students confronted a Halifax professor who drew criticism for posting contentious cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad on his office door.Peter March, a philosophy professor at Saint Mary's University, said he was merely trying to promote a reasoned debate when he suddenly showed up in the midst of 100 protestors.
"You can't do philosophy directly and honestly without causing inflammation," he said as the protest march was getting started. "It's one of the side effects, rather like surgery."
When students realized who he was, a group of angry youths started shouting, "Go away!" and "You don't belong here!"
But March stood his ground, attempting to debate some of them before organizers urged the students to ignore him and move on.

And it is reasonable to expect this same reaction against any academic who wants to openly discuss the cartoon rage by displaying the cartoons and asking a question as simple as "What's this all about?"
If this is not oppression of freedom of speech, freedom of thought, freedom of criticism, and the obliteration of Western academic principles, I don't know what is.
If academics throughout the United States, Canada and Europe start doing such things, the budgets for university police will skyrocket.

You know what? I've seen the all-blasted cartoons, and the more I look at them, the more I think something or someone is intentionally instigating mob activity to suit their agenda. Some say Iran, others say Syria, I say it's all too convenient to be by accident. While the world obsesses over why muslims are behaving badly because of series of stupid cartoons, what's happening on the homefront? What else is going on we should be paying attention to? Is this some kind of diversion?
I'm much less concerned as a muslim by a few poorly-drawn cartoons than I am about why our government won't release those pictures to the public taken at Abu Ghraib. I'm much more concerned about the mounting casualities and cost of a badly-misguided war. I'm also more interested in the rising increase in incidents of violence against mosques and attacks on muslims right here at home who've done nothing to anyone. Yet, all I hear about is a few sketchy cartoons?

Is Canada now under Shari'a law? Will Muslims, quick to take offense and apparently determined to cow anyone they wish to do as they demand, rule? It is true that Muhammad commands that "Islam must dominate, and is not to be dominated." But must the Western world hop to it with quite such alacrity?

Professor March shows courage because in Canada, not only will Muslims demonstrate against anything that critisizes them, but their leftist allies up here are even more willing to attack anything from the "dominant culture". Up here in Canada only one of our National newspapers, the National Post, has proclaimed solidarity with the Danish and has encouraged its readers to buy Danish products. The other major papers, such as the Toronto Star and the Globe and Mail, are so infected with the PC mentality that, although they are more than happy to demonize all the left's favorite bogeymen--Israel, America, and white-heterosexual-upperclass-Christian-ablebodied-men, when commenting on the the cartton controversy they have uttered the same canard that "free sppech must be excercised responsibly".
