Cartoon rage protestors torch Danish embassy in Beirut

Cartoon Rage violence continues to spread. "Protesters Torch Danish Embassy in Beirut," from AP, with thanks to JE:

BEIRUT, Lebanon - Demonstrators protesting caricatures of Islam's prophet set fire Sunday to a building housing the Danish Embassy in Lebanon as security forces fired tear gas in an attempt to stop the protesters.

Thousands of protesters took part in the protest but only a small group of Islamic extremists tried to break the security barrier, prompting troops to fire tear gas and water cannons to disperse them, said the official.

Troops also fired bullets into the air and over the protesters' heads. Security officials said at least 18 people were injured, including policemen, fire fighters and protesters. Witnesses saw at least 10 people taken away by ambulance.

A security official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not allowed to speak to the media, said embassy staff had evacuated the building two days ago in anticipation of protests. Some 2,000 army troops and riot police were deployed around the building.

I wonder where I can get a sticker, no a 100, a 1000 stickers of the Danish flag.

Such stickers in public spaces everywhere would make powerful symbols of resistance against the Islamification of our minds, our spirit, and the dreams of our children.

OT. A Muslim has been stabbed in Norway as a result of these troubles.
No link. It hasn't been reported yet.

Muslims there have been given 48 hours to apologise for burning the flag.

What I want to know is: who do the cars belong to that the "demonstrators" are burning on their rampage through the streets of Beirut... Presumably some of them (all of them?) belong to their fellow Lebanese citizens... sigh.

It has been said, but I will put my 2 cents in.

Muslims calling for death to Danish Newspaper editors and Muslims calling for bin Laden to blow up Denmark.

Is the intellect of Muslim protestors so low that they can't see that the cartoon of Muhammand
with a bomb as a turbin is more truth that fiction.

Their actions reinforce the validity if that cartoon and ANYONE who apologizes for said cartoon is guilty of appeasement and not speaking the truth.

OK, now I understand about the cars... they are "demonstrating" in the CHRISTIAN area of Beirut, so here it is OK to destroy Lebanese property... what with the Christians being such infidels and all.

Still happy islam is such a peaceful religion, imagine where this would go if the muslims got REALLY upset about these cartoons:)

Can I please ask you guys to sign this

and spread.

Thanks

Just heard a Canadian who witnessed these riots in Beirut say on CBC Radio that the mob was stopping all foreigners and asking their nationality -- he described the situation when he was stopped as "very tense." I hope all Danes, and all Europeans actually, have long since fled Lebanon. And why return, ever?

These a$$heads and their governments keep demanding the Danish govt muzzle the newspaper in question. Maybe arab govts, by that logic, oughtta be held responsible for the vile hate spewed outta their mosque pulpits, eh?

Remember those pictures of Lebanese demonstrators waving Lebanese flags? How many of them were the Lebanese Christians, and how many were the kind of advanced Muslims whose existence, in Lebanon as in India, have managed to exist because of the softening, and civilizing example of, and need to find some accommmodation with, a numerous and until powerful non-Muslim community? The real Muslims, the Muslim Muslims, were not part of those crowds, and the celebration, in many quarters (see Krauthammer) of Democracy On the March in Lebanon, without realizing that democracy as mere head-counting, and not as the agreements between the political elites as set out in the carefully-constructed understanding that goes back to the immediate post-war period, is now being shown to have been premature.

The Muslims, in the end, will not permit the Christians of Lebanon to exist as equals unless the powerful West ensures -- as France once did --that they must be so treated. They will be under threat, as Copts are in Egypt (and saved only by the power of Coptic communities outside Egypt that can alert Western powers), as the Christians are in Iraq. At a certain point, all the propaganda of the quislings, the islamochristians so prominent until recently in the ranks of the "Palestinian" movement -- Ashrawi (whom Arafat used to call "the whore") and Naim Ateek (so very cunning an operative among Christians abroad) will be completely isolated, "Christians" speaking for non-existent Christians, for they will have left, not a few of them to find refuge in Israel, which all of a sudden, from being the "Zionist enemy," will look good indeed.

And the warning of Abdullah above, which shows either his real feelings, or the feelings he feels he must publicly feel, give an idea of the Muslim understanding of Western rights. The Western peoples have no rights to observe, in their own countries, free speech. They too must be subject to Muslim laws. The entire world must be careful not to offend Muslim sensibilities. No matter that the cartoons in question were almost laughably mild, with scarcely one or two even at the level reached by political cartoons in the West every single day, and no matter that the crowds that were whipped up had been fed other cartoons, made up by Danish Muslims themselves apparently, nor that many of the rioters spreading mayhem have never seen a single cartoon, either the originals, or the Muslim forgeries attributed to Danish cartoonists.

What counts is not Abdullah's little performance as his son's father, expressing his sympathies in New Orleans and trying, trying, to win favor for the cause of Islam. What counts is, rather, his sickening statement above -- a statement echoed, do not forget, by that other great Muslim favorite of the American press and State Department, Hamid Karzai.

There are limits to what you can do with the raw material, when the raw material is Islam. Why our rulers refuse to see this, refuse to articulate it even cleverly, in synecdochic ways that naturally present themselves ("It's not Islam we are worried about, it's just those who believe in the Jihad to spread their belief-system until it dominates everywhere. That's all.")

Example 1: Abdullah's remark above.

Sorry, freespeech, but the site comes up with Internal Server Error, when I click to go to signatures.
These Muslims teach their own people from babies to hate the infidel, they burn, flags, rape, destroy temples, churches, bibles, and other religious icons, and they slaughter tens of thousands of non Muslims every year, and where is the outcry from Muslims, but someone does a few cartoons of Mohammad and they want to kill the world...
What a pathetic people, I know that their prophet is precious to them but so is our Jesus, which they have said terrible things about, and done terrible things to his people, but we don't go and call down fire on their heads... What a violent horrible race of people they are... and of course our spineless leaders will give in to them,,which makes these bullies realise that they can win with terrorising just as their Mohammad did..our leaders have lost us the fight with one simple act...with spineless leaders like this, Sharia law will be world wide within 10 years... ...Muslims time line to take the world is by 2020. and they are well on target.

Gaye,

I got the 'Internal server error' too. So, I tried again, this time, taking it slow (perhaps due to the server traffic) and I enjoyed the signing experience. I suggest you try again, this time going slow. There are over 9K signatures and some comments are worth reading.

Thanks FreeSpeech!

...only a small group of Islamic extremists tried to break the security barrier...
That's because the large groups of Islamic extremists were busy setting up impromptu checkpoints throughout the city looking for Europeans to kidnap and murder. This AP piece reads like a Pravda press release circa 1965.

Two quotes from above story make me wonder.

"a small group of Islamic extremists tried to break the security barrier"

"Some 2,000 army troops and riot police were deployed around the building."

It seems to me that there was enough security to insure that the embassy was not burned, so what happened?

This whole situation is quite astounding. If it were not so serious it would be laughable. Of course this shows the true nature of a so called religion that is really no religion at all. Any serious study of religion would show that Islam is a cult and should be against the law in a free society. This will not happen in the US until many more thousands if not millions die at the hands of this cult. To many like the ACLU around dictating what is right and wrong, so it will not happen until the damage is done and its to late. We cant even secure our Southern borders let alone isolate extreme religious groups (unless they are christian) The only thing more laughable than the cartoon mess is the way our Government is handling border security and Islamos.

RE: Any serious study of religion would show that Islam is a cult and should be against the law in a free society.

Evil is,
evil does!

Muslim outrage over some European cartoons.

No Muslim outrage over Beslan, over 3 Muslim beheaded Indonesian Christian high-school girls, over suicide bombings in Iraqi Shi'ite mosques and in Israeli pizzarias, and over the near 3000 Islamic terrorists attacks since 9/11.

We of the West and of Civilization should have it up to our head tops with this Muslim outrage and with Islam. We of the whole West and of the whole of Civlization have to come to grips with Islam and stop them for good- now, or become energy independent and get out of these Islamic lands and let these Muslims stew in their own 7th century society.

The world is presently headed toward a nuke showdown, and the resulting devastation and horror are not going to be at all pretty or pristine.

Richard

These rampaging Muslims are simply rioting for "Islamic peace" and "Islamic justice"... This is what we are inviting in our lands by permitting Muslims to live here, and proselytize for Islam here on our soil...

Perhaps this is the lens through which we should analyze EVERYMuslim pronouncement -- whether it's the Iranian President's claims for a "peaceful" nucelar program, "peace" in Iraq, claims that Muslim nations are our "allies" in anything, or claims and assurances from our local Muslim spokespersons in our "infidel" lands... All of their words must be treated with the most healthy skepticism and doubt...

The Alice in Wonderland, or more accurately Through the Looking Glass illogic of Islam, and the Muslim mind defies my senses of correctness, truth, and uprightness -- the Muslims remind me of a Hieronymous Bosch painting with all those frenzied diseased medieval maniacs writhing in hellish paroxysms of agony, rage, and insanity... They seem to suffer from some kind of mass hysteria - -some kind of malignant delusional psychosis... Dare I name it? Could it be...

ISLAM???

Hi folks,

long time reader of Jihadwatch. but felt I really had to post now. I was reading the Irish Independent newspaper this morning while eating my breakfast and came across a piece about the muslim outrage over the cartoons.

What really had me pissing myself was that the writer of the piece who obviously well versed what the danger islam presents to the world quoted a UN report that pretty much stated the Arab\Muslim countries are "Intellectually sterile and Culturally stagnent"

Then later today I was on this site and clicked on a link that took me to the Arabnews website.Read the article and then had a nose around the site and saw in one of the dropdown menus a link to the Arab News Arts and Culture webpage........guess what???

It was blank!! :)

Could you imagine that in a newspaper anywhere else in the world?

Anybody know where I can get a bumper sticker with " I Support Denmark" on it?

Quotes from one of two Jordanian newspaper editors who published cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad and were arrested.

Clipped:
Jihad Momani and Hisham Khalidi are accused of insulting religion under Jordan's press and publications law.

Clipped:
"Muslims of the world be reasonable," wrote Mr Momani.
"What brings more prejudice against Islam, these caricatures or pictures of a hostage-taker slashing the throat of his victim in front of the cameras or a suicide bomber who blows himself up during a wedding ceremony in Amman?"

I think the media, domestic and foreign, should begin showing the beheading videos.

Freespeech-

Much obliged for the "petition" link.

Just signed it.

Thank you Denmark!

Free speech means the freedom to offend idiots.

Only true idiots don't understand it.

Back to Mecca with them for 1350 years of remedial logic.

With a minor in the humanities. (Since humanity is apparently almost non-existent within Islam.)

Ladies and gentlemen

Well we have had a very interesting day haven't we? I have a short story to repeat.

Imagine I was awakened by a phone call this morning by a frantic and scared 77 year old widower in beirut telling me he was "ok". "But uncle" I say, "why do you need to call me at this hour to tell me that you are ok"?..."well", says uncle, "you see I was on the way home from church this morning and a group of muslim boys attacked me and beat me up and tore my shirt, you know the one you gave me last Christmas"..."im sorry for that" says uncle. "im sorry too uncle, im so sorry".

Now, why do that to an old man muslim shit? I suppose you wanted to prove a point right muslim ass lickers? Way to go brave men of islam! Your shaitan prophet has taught you well. YOU BEAT UP A 77 YEAR OLD MAN!!

Why is it that these brave peace loving muslims feel it necessary to attack old people trying to live the rest of their lives in some semblence of peace & happiness? I suppose that the truth is they are all cowards. They have always attacked the weak...they can never fight the strong. The reason is simlple they try to demoralize the strong by inflicting cruelty and unwarranted violence on the weak.

Which leads me to this point. An embassy building is a lifeless stone structure, and i could not give a rats' ass about what happens to it. However, the muslim logic and mind set is a-lot lower than that of a monkey in the jungle. You see muslims, in their tiny, overworked, prophet loving minds, believe that this Danish embassy in Beirut is a weak link to the Danish government. Thus, by setting fire to a building that generally would house unarmed civilians carrying out their diplomatic duties they have just destroyed the Kingdom of Denmark! Well hooray guys well done! You have proved your point-----> you are all religiously pious people who are merely extolling the virtues of islam and canonizing the memory of your peodiphile, devil worshiping prophet, we understand.

Next we will see the danish government backing down and giving an apology to the muslim cud for what it has allowed to take place in bad bad denmark land!

In truth I believe that Syrian instigators in lebanon have once again shown their hand. They easily manipulated a few monkeys into a frenzy to start a free for all rampage. From what I have heard the security forces did just about everything they could save for actually firing into the crowd which would have been disasterous. However some of the trouble makers, so far about 70 Syrians along with about 30-40 palestinians(surprise surprise)were arrested. By the way guys, the palestinians are the ones the western media portray as poor oppressed people everytime Isreal takes out a bomber or rocket maker affilitated to palestinian islamic jihad or palestinian hamas. Nice people all round don't you think?

I would like to suggest a bright spot. The lebanese minister responsible for internal security has resigned. At least his actions will try to show the world that this wasn't state sponsored stupidity and we, as a nation, still hold a modecum of respect for the time honoured tradition of "political responsibility".

Oh by the way, don't worry Uncle...every dog will have its' day!

Regards;

Shunkleash (PBUH)
