A Muslim pop singer has been forced to hire bodyguards to protect her during a visit to Britain next month after she received a string of death threats from religious extremists.US-based Deeyah is due in London next month to promote a new single and video, released tomorrow. But the track "What Will It Be?" has already outraged hardline Islamists here as it promotes women's rights.
Her performances with a clutch of male dancers and revealing outfits have also deeply offended many Muslims. In one scene in her latest video, the singer drops a burqa covering her body to reveal a bikini.
That has attracted vitriol from some quarters. The 28-year-old singer claims that in the past she has been spat upon in the street and told that her family would be in danger if she did not tone down her work. The situation is now so bad that Deeyah feels she cannot visit Britain without protection. "I can no longer walk around without specially assigned bodyguards," she told The Independent on Sunday. "I would be lying if I said abuse from religious fanatics didn't upset or scare me."...

How about "piss you off"? Where the hell are the anti-muslim riots? How about a few gatherings of angry white europeans to burn arab flags and chant death slogans to islam?

I am not familar with this pop singer but I wish Deeyah much success in her career. Like Danish cheese and Legos, I will buy one of her tapes as a show of support, and pass it on to one of my children. We don't need another artist whose life is ruined, financially and physically, by the followers of the religion of peace.

Obviously, this is insensitive and disrespectful toward Islam. This is an Islamophobic act; it is racist. All she's doing is gratuituously offending Muslims. Does she really need to put on this performance? Doesn't she know that some Muslims will kill over bikinis*? Why can't she just write a description of her performance? Why does she have to engage in this reckless, irresponsible provocation of Muslims? Why would she fan the flames of hate? This act simply reflects the underlying colonialism, inequities in the power structure, and systemic sexism of western culture. I think we will now have to send her to cultural sensitivity training. We need to educate the public as to what Islam is really all about. Let's schedule a media conference. She has really misunderstood Islam, but no doubt the Americans are behind it, and the Zionists are pulling the strings...
The only reason what I just said is not being said about this performance is that the performer self-identifies as a Muslim.

Seriously though, I applaud this singer, a brave artist, and I appreciate that pop singers do have a lot of influence on the youth, so this is good. Anything that weakens the grip of the hard-line Islamists is good.

Well its good to see that even The Independent is getting the message.
The quote marks around "loyal" are from The Independent.
We need to know what that declaration of "loyalty" means. Does it mean a willingness to enroll in the armed services, and carry out missions -- for example, in Iraq? Does it mean participating, if the government of Great Britain deems it necessary, in an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities? It must mean, it has to mean, that a Muslim will place his "loyalty" to the Infidel nation-state above his loyalty, about which we are all now well aware, to Islam and the umma al-islamiyya? That is the only kind of "loyalty" that makes sense for Infidels to consider. A mere assertion that "I am loyal" or "I feel loyalty" to Great Britain is otherwise meaningless. Or rather, both meaningless and dangerous, because it will keep Infidels soothed, keep them thinking there is not a permanent problem of Muslim loyalty, when there is -- there is because of what is in Qur'an, Hadith, and Sira.
How could it possibly be otherwise? Do Muslims a favor and take their texts seriously, the same way they do. Take them just as seriously. Observe their behavior. Observe the things they say, and how they say them. Observe what they avoid discussing directly, or what they quickly change the topic from. Observe how an outward amiability, a touching desire to be "friendly" so it seems, to those very people, Christians and Jews, about whom the Qur'an tells Muslims "do not take them as friends for they are friends only with each other," so that such cosmetic friendliness is justified in Muslim doctrine by being one more way to protect, and promote, Islam -- and for no other conceivable reason.
This powerlessness I know many of us feel will lift away once our leaders finally give in to the inevitable and confront this evil. War is sometimes necessary. This is definitely one of those times.
Islam has festered on this planet for far too long without a reckoning. So, what will it be...now or later...it's going to spell the same result. Conflict.
At least we can drop all these silly illusions that we respect and can tolerate and get along with Islam. What a complete farce.

I think it's just as likely that the rest of the world is scared to annoy us on man to man terms on our own soil. It's one thing to fly planes into 2 towers, but it's something else to try to kill civilians on city streets with handguns or knives or even bombs in the United States. That risks getting torn limb from limb or shot or hung.
Don't forget: to most of these foreign zealots America is the land of Hollywood Cowboys, Mobsters, Rambo, Texas Rangers and the U.S. Marines. That kind of psychology goes a long way in the minds of such superstitious people.
And the true grit of Americans is far greater than Hollywood, if just a little more controlled than the movies.
The only reason Muslims are quiet in the U.S. right now is that there are not enough of them. If they did not constitute, at most, a mere 1% of the population(i.e. 2-3 million) but, say, 5% or even 3%, all hell would have broken loose. Dreamy beliefs that "we do things diffrently here" and that they are all so well-integrated ignores the nature of Islam as a belief-system. Neither educational level nor high salary guarantees anything. What counts is commitment to Islam. And that commitment may be renewed for all sorts of reasons, including personal setbacks of the kind that Infidels can blame on any number of things, but that in so many of those who call themselves Muslims becomes a matter of blaming the off-the-shelf guilty ones, that is -- the Infidels.
It is purely a matter of numbers. One more reason to watch Europe's evident distress, and vow not to permit any growth in the Muslim population, and to encourage policies that will reverse that growth. It can be done. It will take cleverness. But if it becomes exceedingly difficult to obtain government support, and if private boycotts of goods and services take place, and if further the atmosphere continues to be one in which the real contents of Qur'an and Hadith and Sira may be studied (outside of universities since in so many of them the apologists for Islam, most but not all of them Muslims, have seized control in so many places), then Muslims may find this country will not turn out to be quite so welcoming to those whose aim, after all, is to undo the laws, customs, manners, understandings of an Infidel nation-state founded on principles, and a view of the importance of individual freedom, that is anathema to Believers and to Islam.
Several singers of Rai, or Algerian folk music, have not only been threatened (music being forbidden in Islam), but killed, including at least one who was Berber, and a great celebrity in the Kabyle. I cannot remember if he was killed in France or in Algeria. It hardly mattered to his killers where they ended his musical career. Similarly, the Taliban has forbidden the folk musicians in Afghanistan whose performances used to enliven wedding celebrations.
Why not? Islam says no to music. No to music it is. And if the singer is a woman, and dressed unislamically, she is asking for the death sentence. Well, isn't she?

In the United States the trend toward assimilation is real, and lamented by Muslim religious authorities. Raised in the permissive American youth culture, corrupted by it whether their parents wish it or not, Muslim assimilation is proceeding apace. It is not simply a matter of numbers. Our culture is vastly greater than theirs. The superiority is manifest. Deeyah feels safe in the United States because young Muslims who have assimilated our values, as the great majority have, would rather enjoy her than destroy her. Against the power of femininity Islamic religious authority is impotent. Unless women are strangled, if not in the cradle, in their pre-adolescence under veil and guardianship, Islam will prove to be impotent against them.
I've looked over Deeyah's site, watched her video, and read the comments on her Myspace profile. Yes, she is a Muslim artist who is not intimidated, unabashedly flaunting her sexuality. But to me she doesn't look just sexy, she looks like victory.

True, but don't underestimate the role of the 2nd Amendment. A substantial number of predatory sociopaths admit that their worst fear is encountering an armed American citizen, and with good reason.

Islam is designed for conflict (with 'Religion of Peace' as a cunning smoke-screen), regardless of the ground-conditions. Islam is designed to conceal, camouflage and cover-up the hostilities, until the time is right. So deceptive and devious is the design that time is no consequence. That explains Bin-Laden's depth and patience. Another cover for the hostilities is the 'poor victims' front. While the world pities the 'poor victim' Palestinians, those same Palestinians have a virtually endless supply of funds, resources, weapons, cash, vehicles, gas products, timers, chemicals, people to continue the war agains the same western fools who 'donate' aid of billions of tax-payr dollars without as much as peeping about accountability (that would be so 'insensitive') even when the same aid is used to buy arms, dig tunnels, get vehicles, timers, video equipment and other terror gadgets. And while the 'poor Palestinians' were granted virtually unlimited aid, their numbers (the key-word) exploded, in the background of which, Arafat's threats 'We will overwhelm the Jews with out numbers' make perfect sense.
It is a matter of time before Muslim numbers reach a critical mass and then, the true colors will come out (much like what you see these days, in Europe).

Quite possibly, but even if they are it makes no difference. It would only make them more enraged. The conflict is not only between them and the rest of the world but within themselves - and the blame for sexual feelings, drug-taking, and any other perceived impurity, hence source of shame, can easily be shifted onto the surrounding culture which thereby proves it is deserving of destruction:

We've seen examples of this from a long parade of well-educated Islamic apologists. (It must be noted that there are exceptions, including radical reformers, but these are rare). Here is another example of a well-educated Muslim, in this case a professor of Islamic law, who is trying to argue that Jyllands-Posten should be prosecuted according to Danish Law.

Not to brag or anything, but when Nigeria was to host the Miss World contest in 2002 it was a young Miss Denmark (Masja Juel) who took the first step by refusing to participate due to the inhuman death sentence that was imposed on a Nigerian woman for having a child outside marriage.
Makes me proud to live in a country where even a young blond beauty queen has more sense than most international politicians. When all those other beauty pageant contestants are blabbering about wanting to save the world it kind of pales next to this girl who actually did something instead of just talking about it.

Another reason Muslims in America are apparently quiet and docile: the sociocultural complexion of American cities and towns has tended -- at least for the past 75 years -- to resist the Third World-ization that creeps into European cities and towns. In London and other English cities, you will find whole sections that look African or Indian or Asian: you do not find that in the USA (except briefly and temporarily, during Leftist "world music" fairs and such) (the USA used to have more of a Third World flavor, before it had undergone its radical, astonishing, wondrous, historically unprecedented progress in culture & infrastructure throughout the 20th century). Islam is a Third World culture par excellence, and exemplifies pathologies of the Third World, par excellence.
PS: I've read that Dearborn, Michigan, is apparently acquiring that Third-Worldization in Islamic form, though I suspect it still doesn't reach the proportions and extent to which cities and towns in the UK and elsewhere throughout Europe have been Islamically Third-Worldized.

I think the whole uproar at that contest started when a journalist, commenting on the fact that Muslims were upset about the beauty contest, said that the prophet himself would have taken the beauty contestants for himself.
