This is a group that up until a few years ago celebrated on its website its murders of civilians on buses and in restaurants as jihad victories. Was that website designed by the Israelis? From AP, with thanks to Mackie:
ISTANBUL, Turkey (AP) -- The exiled political leader of Hamas said Friday the world has the wrong image of the Islamic militant group and he urged the international community to stop viewing it through the eyes of Israel."We believe that most of the leaders in Europe, in the West, have ... a wrong image about Hamas, because this image doesn't reflect us. It reflects how some people, especially Israel, see Hamas," Khaled Mashaal told The Associated Press, surrounded by bodyguards on a commercial flight from Ankara to Istanbul.
"We want the world, and especially the countries in the West, to understand us, to understand Hamas well, to understand the will of the Palestinian people, the national goals of Hamas and the Palestinian people."
Yes, they're lovable fellows. Just ignore all those murders and keep the money flowing.
Waiting to see if they follow through with a full PR campaign: Oprah sits down for a chat with Hamas, Khaled Mashaal cries in an interview with Baba Wawa, and there appears a flurry of commercials in the "Don't Hate Us" genre, produced with the experience and know-how of Big Tobacco:
*cue piano music*
Because it's all just a big misunderstanding, and they don't want us to "misunderstand" ourselves to death like the other infidels they had to whack.
*sound of needle scratching record*
The wrong image...yeah we no longer consider any Muslim to be peaceful or moderate.
Shinoliite
The PR campaign is already in full-swing here in the UK. Last night, BBC News 24 repeatedly broadcast an interview with Edward Abington, a former US consul to Jerusalem and now paid foreign agent for the PLO (of course, the BBC didn't identify him as the latter).
Abington whined about how the US must accept the democratic elections in the Palestinian territories and engage in "dialogue" with Hamas to "understand their perspective on the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza". Of course, there was no challenge from the BBC interviewer on any of this nonsense including the lie that Gaza is occupied.
I phoned in a complaint to the BBC this morning noting that, 1) they failed to identify Abington as a paid foreign agent for the PLO, and 2) as a partisan for the Palestinians, the BBC should have balanced the interview with someone reflecting the Israeli POV.
I would encourage other Brits to register a similar complaint with the BBC by phone at: 08700 100 222 or by email here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/
Isn't that what they used to say to justify the bad or criminal behavior of young men. They were misunderstood and ignored. That is why they acted up or were petty criminals. They were only acting up to get attention.
I guess we should send Hamas to Boys Town or an episode of Scared Straight.
VICTIMS.....VICTIMS.......Poor Muslim Victims

What victim consciousness does to our relationships:
People with a victim consciousness in relationship are often found saying the following types of comments:
"Nothing I do is good enough for you."
"Why do you expect so much from me."
"You're not good enough. You're good for nothing. All you want is..."
"Why are you attacking me?"
"You are so critical. Why do you blame me for everything."
"If this happened, I'd only have myself to blame."
"You invalidate me. Why won't you listen to me?"
"... and so on. Does this sound like things you've said? If so, you probably recognize yourself more than you want to. But the reality is, you are becoming aware. You might become angry as you become aware. This is a normal process/reaction of victim consciousness. When the truth is exposed, they become angry. Recognize that this anger is a way of projecting the victim consciousness to the other party and thus creating a perpetrator."
The only thing wrong with our image of Hamas is that is is not in the crosshairs of a telescopic rifle.
Their war aims are declared. An Islamic global terror state.
If we value freedom, Hamas must be quarantined until they renounce their murderous ideology.
They cannot "reform" a call-to-murder. They can only become realists willing to live-and-let-live.
Or they can rot in their own venom, and disappear.
Islam faces the same dilemma.
Cut the death threats, or cut your own throat.
The PR campaign to rehabilitate militant Islam has support from our ever patriotic esteemed academic community. http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/7258E2EC-9308-46EB-BA3B-C7F7DE5D2734.htm
I guess it is okay for Christians to humiliate each other because that is the Christian tradition. And it is okay for Muslims to humiliate each other because both are Islamic. Cultural relativism at its best. And it is okay for muslims to attack non-muslims because of the WORLD-WIDE EUROPEAN / AMERICAN / ZIONIST conspiracy to defame, discriminate and subjugate the Islamic world. BUT it is NOT okay for non-muslims to question the violent, racist, sexist, homophobic, prostletizing fanatacism of the Muslim world. Why? Because of the WORLD-WIDE EUROPEAN / AMERICAN / ZIONIST conspiracy to defame, discriminate and subjugate the Islamic world has no legitimacy because we are Islamophobic. Such tautological nonsense reminds me of Edward Said.
They're murderers (Hamas and its members). What else is there to understand?????
Zilch, that's what. Sorry, you guys at Hamas. We have your number! (666, maybe?).
Don't you just love their reality inverting hypocrisy? It's almost hysterical, next they'll say they pioneered womens' rights or invented the steam engine.
