From AP:
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — Pakistani security forces arrested hundreds of Islamic hard-liners, virtually sealed off the capital and used gunfire and tear gas Sunday to quell protests against caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad.Authorities in eastern Pakistan had banned protests after riots killed five people in two cities last week.
Elsewhere in the Muslim world on Sunday, demonstrators with wooden staves and stones tried unsuccessfully to storm the U.S. Embassy in Indonesia, while tens of thousands rallied in the Turkish city of Istanbul and complained about negative Western perceptions of Islam.
Troops patrolled the deserted streets of the northern Nigerian town of Maiduguri, where thousands of Muslims attacked Christians and burned churches Saturday, killing at least 15 people during a protest over the cartoons. Most of the victims were beaten to death by rioters.
In Saudi Arabia, newspapers ran full-page apologies by Jyllands-Posten, the Danish newspaper that first ran the caricatures in September. The newspaper's Web site said businesses placed the ad on their own initiative, using an apology issued by the newspaper late last month. It did not identify the companies or say if they were Danish...
This is an obviously transparent attempt by the Muslim fundamentalists to depose Pervez Musharraf through chaos. Chaos is the friend of the Jihadists. If they cannot rule then anarchism & chaos is their second choice. They are going rabid over those Pakistani nuclear weapons. So near yet so far.
Jihadists want those Paki nukes, that is their number one goal.
Apologize? No. Not here. Not ever.
Oh yes, speaking of Saudi Arabia -- I think the following is germane to this article because guess what is going to happen in the States in the not too distant future?
THANKS GEORGE; AND THANKS FOR THE PORT DEAL TOO! YOU ARE A TRUE PATRIOT!

More than 10,000 students from Osama bin Laden's homeland are attending U.S. colleges and universities this year, thanks to an agreement between President Bush and King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz.
While U.S. universities welcome the Saudis – especially because Riyadh is paying 100 percent of their tuition and enrollment costs – some critics see potential security problems associated with the tremendous influx of Muslim students from a closed society that virtually invented Wahhabism, the radical brand of Islamism that spawned al-Qaida.
the more protests and killings the more the muslim are telling the world what a bunch of losers they are! they are destroying property and killing people totally innocent of the cartoons....seems they can't even follow the part of their koran about killing innocents.. they went right over to the part about killing infidels.. keep on the riots and you keep reminding the complacent Westerners that you are not to be trusted!
Wow. I hate to admit it but I just watched Pat Robertson on the Christian broadcast news or something Like that and he is the first american that i have actually seen speak the truth about Jihad and Islam. At least someone with a large audience is speaking the truth (none of the mainstream media will do it).
cant be too big as surprise, the house of saud is the bush's best buddy.now,if i knew somebody who's school, religion called for my death,i sure would'nt by frtiendly with em.but of couse i'm not a press or former press,so i gues they know better, bush's are idiot's

"while tens of thousands rallied in the Turkish city of Istanbul and complained about negative Western perceptions of Islam."
-- from the article above
Turkey will not be admitted to the E.U. and it should not be. The assault on Kemalist attempts to bottle up Islam everywhere, the low cunning of Erdogan as he pushes the Islamic line while pretending to still be working for some kind of fake "convivencia" that modern Turkey supposedly demonstrates, the outrageous comments by highly-placed Turks about the American soldiers in Iraq being "worse than Nazis" (with neither an official apology nor even official distancing), the popularity of "Mein Kampf" (a Turkish best-seller), the popoularity of a new Turkish film, the most expensive in history, that shows those Nazi Americans in Iraq torturing and raping and doing those things which those American troops are so famous for doing everywhere, which is why the expenditure of tens of billions on schools, hospitals, and other infrastructure seems such a strange thing for those worse-than-Nazi American soldiers to be doing), and that adds, by way of lagniappe, to the list of dramatis personae a Jewish doctor who specializes in reselling the organs of Iraqis killed by those bestial Americans to rich people in New York and Los Angeles. And not a word from anyone, from any of those so-called Turkish secularists, about the brainwashing of the Turkish public.
Turkey did not permit the Americans to enter Iraq from Turkish bases. Nor has Turkey given any sign it would allow the Americans to use such bases to attack Iran's nuclear weapons sites.
The Cold War is over. Turkey was happy to receive enormous amounts of American aid. It was happy to be allowed into NATO. After all, Russia was and remains the historic enemy of Turkey. iN 1915, Russians talked of seizing Tsargrad (Constantinople), and had the war gone differently for Russia, and had there not been a revolution, perhaps it would have, and not only the Ottoman Empire, but European parts of Turkey, subtracted from Muslim rule (in 1914, half the population of Constantinople consisted of non-Muslims; non-Muslims now constitute 1%).
We do not need Turkey. The E.U. does not need Turkey. The secularist beneficiaries of Kemalism need to come to their own rescue, rather than trying to fob off the problem of Turksih Islam onto all of Europe, hoping that somehow this will make their own lives easier (and so it will) even as Turkish membership in the E.U. would make the lives of Europeans much more unpleasant, expensive, and physically dangerous as a result of the free movement of Muslim Turks (and of other Muslims more easily passing through Turkey into Europe, and blending in with the Turks) throughout Europe.
But it is now that the Turks -- the secularists -- need to be informed that they must fight for their own gains, and the Turkish army has to once again, if it wishes to survive, be the defender of Kemalism.
And if the Turks want to find someone to blame for their failure to be admitted to the E.U., they should be persuaded to look at the behavior of Muslims -- oh, let them concentrate on non-Turks, and put the blame on all those Muslim Arabs, who have "given Islam such a bad name."
In that way, the secularists can help damage the cause, and image of Islam, can blame Muslims themselves for behaving in a fashion that damaged the Turkish cause. Because there will be a need to blame someone. And if those same secularists, who have been the chief beneficiaries of Kemalist constraints on Islam (if Ataturk had not come along, Turkey's population would still be as benighted as that of Iraq, or Syria), do not carefully direct popular anger at a Muslim target, then it is obvious that Erdogan and his ilk will be attempting to blame "Christian" Europe and darkly mutter of a "Christian club" (the kind of thing that Muslim leaders like to talk about as they attend meetings of the only religion-based club, the "Muslim Club" of the O.I .C. But then irony is not their strong suit).
Turkey will not be admitted. The peoples of Europe have now, in a short time, had a good look at Islam, at Muslim mobs, at Muslim treachery, at Muslim violence and threats of violence, at the treasonous behavior of Muslim imams in Denmark and elsewhere, showing their willingness to work to endanger Danes and other Infidels in whose lands they have been allowed not merely to settle, but to receive all the generous benefits supplied entirely by Infidel taxpayers.
No longer. Turkey cannot conceivably be admitted -- not under any theory. The Turksih secularists who thought that they could off-load their own problems with the local Islamic movement onto European Infidels, will have to confront and deal with the undoing of Kemalist reforms themselves. Whatever harsh measures they take, including the use of the army, will not be worrisome to Infidels. They now understand, as they did not even a few years ago, the menace of Islam, and the need for measures would have been seen as harsh.
But the secularists have to plan, have to be as cunning as the members of various Islamic groups. They must, incessantly, write about how those "other" Muslims, especially the "Arab Muslims" (the contempt and hatred for Arabs is one of the first things that Turks like to reveal to Westerners -- a way of signalling, "we're not like them" and "don't confuse us with them"), have spoiled the chances for Turkey's admission to the E.U. And then they should explain that Islam itself, as "currently intrepreted," is a drag on Turkish development, Turksih prosperity, and so on.
And never let up in this campaign, so as to restore the popularity and efficacy of Ataturk (keep up the Cult of Personality, for the Turksih masses will either worship Ataturk or Muhammad -- and better the former than the latter).
Can the American government cease to push for Turksih admission to the E.U. as it has so idiotically done? Can it cease to view Turkey through the lens first ground during the Cold War, with the prescription never having been replaced since? Can there be just a little eensy-weensy planning ahead, for that moment when the Turks are formally turned down, or when they realize that their candidacy is hopeless and withdraw it voluntarily so as to avoid embarrassment? Can that planning be based on the most obvious of ideas, videlicet: to exploit the rejection of Turkey to make Islam less rather than more attractive, by carefully demonstrating that the blame is not to be placed on supposedly "Christian" Europe (how devout in his "Christianity" was Pim Fortuyn? Oriana Fallaci? Ayaan Hirsi Ali?) but on those "other" Muslims, chiefly the Arabs and Pakistanis, who take their Islam so seriously and do not know how to behave.
That would help the cause of Secularism in Turkey, and also help to push Turkey further away from the Arabs, and not further into their expectant lap.
Now correct me if I'm wrong here. Isn't Nigeria where the newly freed slaves settled after President Abraham Lincoln freed them during the 1860s? Now I'm thinking that the freed slave were expose to Christianity before they went back to Africa. Thus the faith that they were praticing when they moved there. Up until this point there wasn't anything heard about religious strife until these Islamofeces went crazy over some cartoons about the pedophile false prophet. like I've said before, Muslims make fun of Jews and Christians all of the time. Nothing is said about it, or if there is anything said, Christians get hit with the "freedom of expression" line. But now the shoe is on the other foot and the Muslims can't take it!!! They're crying, looting, burning down churches, and killing people. In Pakistan, it Muslims that are getting killed while protesting the cartoons!!! Now isn't that something special!?
Christians have yet to do anything as far as the insult to their faith is concerned. And may never will. Christianty can stand on it's own merit. Islime can't. That's why Muslims riot the way that they do. They can't handle the truth!!! Anyone or anything that can't stand up to srutiny of any kind needs to be ridiculed. Muslims kill any and all that don't convert to Islime. Christians don't. Hindus don't. Zorasters don't. Shintoes don't. Only Muslims kill when not provoked!!! History bears this out. Now Muslims are losing it over some cartoons. They need to grow up. BIG TIME!!! The Christians in Nigeria had nothing to do with the Danish cartoons. But yet here they are victims of the pratitioners of the "religion of peace". These Muslims sure gave the Christians a lesson in "religious tolorance".

Aren't you thinking about Liberia?

Flemming Rose, in an Op-Ed in the Washington Post aka Bandar Beacon, observes that there has been no violence in Denmark perpetrated by the Muslim community and the imams who initiated this have achieved two things in Denmark: a) brought out the "moderate" and secularized Danish Muslims in protest against the cartoon jihad and the Islamists, and b) discredited themselves thoroughly as the manipulators and instigators that they are.

also interesting, from today's fpm Warblog, news of the "fake apologies" attributed to Carsten Juste, that have been printed in Saudi newspapers:
EVEN THE APOLOGIES ARE FAKED
Our friends the Saudis are publishing full-page advertisements in their government-controlled newspapers, containing a purported apology to the Islamic world from Danish paper Jyllands-Posten: Saudi papers publish Danish paper’s cartoon apology.
RIYADH (Reuters) - Saudi Arabian newspapers on Sunday printed an apology by the Danish paper whose cartoons lampooning the Prophet Mohammad have sparked deadly protests around the world.
“Allow me in the name of Jyllands-Posten to apologise for what happened and declare my strong condemnation of any step that attacks specific religions, ethnic groups and peoples. I hope that with this I have removed the misunderstanding,” wrote Carsten Juste, the editor of Jyllands-Posten.
The full-page advertisements appeared in Asharq al-Awsat, which is printed around the Arab world, as well as the local al-Riyadh and al-Jazira.
They were dated Feb. 5, but an advertising spokesman at al-Riyadh said it may have taken time for the papers, which are close to the government, to approve the announcement.
Just one problem. Jyllands-Posten says they did not take out these ads. (Hat tip: Liz Ard.)
The Danish newspaper that published the Mohammed cartoons said Sunday that it had not published an apology to Muslims in Saudi Arabian newspapers, but that these newspapers had simply republished an apology posted on its web site earlier this month.
Full-page advertisements appeared in Asharq al-Awsat, which is printed around the Arab world, as well as the local al-Riyadh and al-Jazira.
“Allow me in the name of Jyllands-Posten to apologize for what happened and declare my strong condemnation of any step that attacks specific religions, ethnic groups and peoples. I hope that with this I have removed the misunderstanding,” Carsten Juste, the editor of Jyllands-Posten, was quoted as saying. ...
Jyllands-Posten made it clear Sunday, however, that it had not taken out the ads in Saudi papers. Sunday, February 19,
RE: ironman hondo
Remember the fiasco about the Miss Universe contest in Nigeria a couple of years ago. There was rioting and other bad behavior over the immodesty of the contest. Yep there were a lot of problems in Nigeria before the cartoon jihad.
if memory serves me, wasn't Nigeria where the Biafran War was fought? so nigeria has some serious tribal conflicts that have been going on for god knows how long...
This is such a sad chapter... Apologize in a Saudi paper ?!? I hope not!
Where's the apology from the venom filled Saudis for turning their children into hatred their spewing Arab monsters and beasts? -- Where's the apology from the filth stained Saudis for causing the death of thousands in events such as 9/11, Bali, and Beslan? Where's the apology from the gutter dwelling Saudis for foisting the pollution of Islam onto the world? It is clearly the most toxic ideology of hatred and hopelessness -- a vile virus, an utterly malignant cancer for humantiy...
These Saudi filth must be dealt with harshly -- not apologized to! NEVER!
I will NOT EVER apologise for any cartoon or the right to say that islam is the biggest evil in the world.
There are cultures that should NOT reside together and mass deportation is the only answer.
It sounds harsh but send these creatures back to their countries of origin, revoke citizenship and get the world back on track.
Some good people would be hurt during this and it's a shame but the Wetsern world can no longer sit on its hands while they are smothered by the putrefaction that is islam.
Send them back with their children.....the whole lot it is the only way to remove the enemy within.
Please lets get backbone enough to do this and save our own children.
"while tens of thousands rallied in the Turkish city of Istanbul and complained about negative Western perceptions of Islam."
Gee, I wonder why there are negative perceptions?
I guess it's a good thing they don't realize how asleep most of the west still is.
Thank you Odin for the correction. My moms pastor is always talking about Liberia. I was just making sure that I wasn't getting the two mixed up. I did. Once again, thank you for clearing that up for me.
