The Christian Science Monitor has chosen to print parts of an article by Mustafa Abu Sway originally printed in the Palestinian daily, Al-Quds, perhaps in the hopes that it may convince the kidnappers of Jill Carroll to release her. Needless to say, we here at Jihad Watch are not holding our collective breath.
JERUSALEM – Anyone who is familiar with the Koran and the traditions of the prophet Muhammad knows that kidnapping civilians and harming them is absolutely prohibited. Those who do kidnap civilians defy the Islamic code of ethics. This ethos applies to every kidnapped civilian, including Jill Carroll, the freelance journalist on assignment for The Christian Science Monitor, who worked in Iraq until she was kidnapped early last month. I appeal to her kidnappers to immediately release her and to stop kidnapping civilians altogether...I have chosen, because of the cultural background of this nation, to present the Islamic position regarding kidnapping, which opposes it. We must get rid of this negative phenomenon that does not serve us in any way.
From the perspective of the Islamic sharia, the al-Mustamin is "the foreign person whose safety is guaranteed." Such a person is protected, even if his or her native country is in a state of animosity with Muslims. Animosity is a temporary state, and, further, not all Western citizens necessarily support the foreign policies of their governments.
The Muslim must understand that the person who obtains a visitor's visa enters into a contract with the country that grants him the visa. The state, as an institution, does that on behalf of its people. Despite those who look with suspicion at the state, especially if the ruler lacks legitimacy, the visa should be recognized as a legitimate agreement for guests of our countries to move freely about without harm...
If wishful thinking made something reality the mainstream media would have already solved this little jihad problem. From memory, what about Qur'an 8.012, 9.005, and 47.004?
Would someone in charge please learn something before I have the Qur'an memorized?
.. to present the Islamic position regarding kidnapping, which opposes it..
Who is this guy kidding? Not me. The Quran thinks kidnapping is just fine. Taqiyya for the ignorant.
"Those who do kidnap civilians defy the Islamic code of ethics."
The islamic code of ethics? Too funny!!
"We must get rid of this negative phenomenon that does not serve us in any way."
Another sick-minded apologist. "We must get rid of this negative phenomenon," he says, not because it is wrong, but because "it does not serve us." Disgusting.
Was Jill Caroll ever declared to be and "al-Mustamin "? As for "The Muslim must understand that the person who obtains a visitor's visa enters into a contract with the country that grants him the visa. The state, as an institution, does that on behalf of its people. " This entire insurgency is based on the belief that a democratic goverment is always illegitamate! The people who kidnapped her don't believe in the legitamacy of her non-believing exsistence, let alone her freakin' visa. How dim is this dhimmi?
I am in despair reading articles such as this -- The fantasy of our own omnipotence in the West is staggering -- When we see persons from the Right Wing such as the US President, to Left Wing organs such as the Christian Science Monitor fantasizing about instructing Muslims on the "proper" interpretation of Islam -- you know we're in deep trouble..
The notion that we non-Muslims can exert any convincing influence or pressure to dissuade or persuade Muslims to interpret Islam in a way that we would find more satisfactory or comforting is ABSURD!
I think our paternalism and smugness also comes through loud and clear every time we hear our mass-media journalists bandying about terms such as "the Shiites" and "the Sunnis" as if they know the slightest things about these sects. They use these terms to simplify the working parts of an extremely complex and murky world -- they utilizer these terms as if they are chess pieces which can be moved about and contemplated clinically and mathematically -- It is all very arrogant, very deluded, and very dangerous.
Although I am saddened by the kidnapping of this or any other journalist, I think incidents such as her kidnapping reveal how powerful the Islamic tactic of terrorism really is -- and rather than exploring honestly and incisively why such tactics are being used -- what the ultimate goal of Islamic terrorism really is -- why the Muslims are doing these things -- and how they fit into the historic framework of a much older Islamic Jihad -- we see the Christian Science Monitor impotently attempting to hold a public class on the proper interpretation of Islam --
Could anything magnify the out of kilter, deluded, and weak position they find themselves in?
Had the Nazis kidnapped one of their journalists, would they have wasted even a single moment attempting to publish an exegesis of Nazi doctrine, attempting to prove to the Nazi kidnappers how they had misinterpreted the tenets of Mein Kampf, and Hitler's clearly stated goals of exterminating his enemies, and striving for World Domination under a Nazi regime? Replace Islamic for Nazi , and just about any Muslim leader in the Middle East for Hitler, and the Koran for Mein Kampf -- and you will see there is little or no difference between the two.
Sure, no hostages.
Evil book 9.005
Then, when the sacred months have passed, slay the idolaters wherever ye find them, and take them (captive),
***What does 'captive' mean?
I think that man ought to back to school and learn how to read.***
and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush. But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then leave their way free. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

I bet he/she never read the evil book.
l dont feel sorry for the fools who travel into muslilm lands, knowing kidnapping is the way to make money and or kill. there are no freakin islamic laws to protect innocent civilians.. look at how they kill their own children for God's sake! do l see any muslim uprising over their own killing of their children!! again l have no sympathy for Westerners going to muslims countries. you go on your own peril! if you go and don';t carry a weapon of your choice stupid does as stupid goes!
.. and what about fools who marry Muslims?
Prisoners of war are not "civilians" under Islamic Imperialsm's rules, they are captives to either be ransomed or beheaded.
The ransom demand was: free all women prsioners in Iraq.
It was ignored by the Iraqi and Coalition authorities (except for a few "who were already scheduled to be released"), so this article is more fatuous falsehoods pretending to be meaningful 'moderation'.
We ain't buyin' it, Jack!
Back to your disguised lovefest with Osama, weasel.
"and what about fools who marry Muslims?"
the catholic church has recently warned against that. there's a chink of hope there.
"...Anyone who is familiar with the Koran and the traditions of the prophet ..."
....would know that raids and armed robbery as well as kidnapping for ransom/or slavery is traditional Mohammedan business....
Baffles me how these BS-artists hope to get away with such obvious lies...
I don't put much weight into articles such as this but the one positive is that it was originally published in the Palistinian Al-Quds. If it can prevent one innocent from being kidnapped (or worse) than the article has been worth it.
NFI why it has been republished by Christian Science Monitor though...
"Anyone who is familiar with the Koran and the traditions of the prophet Muhammad knows that kidnapping civilians and harming them is absolutely prohibited"
NO SHIT!!!!! How come no one told me this before?
If any woman is stupid enough to marry a Muslim, she deserves what she gets. Remember "Not without my daughter". You canot say they were not warned. If they had eyes to see and were blinded, then it their own damn fault.
The writer of the article is simply a liar. There is no prohibition on kidnapping of non-Muslims. There is not even a prohibition against killing non-Muslims, unless they are dhimmis or slaves (i.e., property of Muslims). Any non-Muslim can be executed simply for saying something against Islam. Anyways, Islamists will pick and choose whatever parts of the texts suit their purposes, or will spin an interpretation that gives them permission to do whatever the heck they want.
Islam is a blody cult started by a camal-stealing murderous pedohile.
It must be eliminated.
Well, the writer's point, in one respect, is well taken. Jill should be considered a dhimmi and under the protection of the Muslim state. As long as she plays by Muslim rules (and doesn't draw pictures of Mohammed or commit other atrocities) she should be safe. Now, if she breaks any rules, all bets are off. (That is, to my understanding, what a dhimmi is: A second-class visitor who obeys Muslim dictates in all things; the non-Muslim who SUBMITS or risks losing his life).
But the devout Muslims in Iraq believe their government to be illegitimate and therefore Jill is NOT a dhimmi. She is a non-believer from enemy territory. Maybe she is learning about what happens to maidens that the right hand possesses as we speak.
