At least 27 Shi'ite Muslims have been killed in a suicide bomb attack on a religious procession in northern Pakistan.The attack in Hangu came on the day of Ashura, Shia Muslims' most important holy day.
Five people were also killed in Afghanistan in clashes between Shi'ite and Sunni Muslims.
In Pakistan, Maulana Khurshid Anwar, a leader of the Shi'ite procession, said one of the blasts was near a stage from where he was about to address the mourners.
Angry Shi'ites rampaged through the town, which is about 200 miles south of Islamabad, burning down a bazaar.
Pakistan has suffered Islamist sectarian violence for years, most of it directed by majority Sunni Muslims against Shi'ites.
Ashura marks the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, a grandson of the Prophet Mohammed.
Tensions tend to rise during the month of Moharram, the 10-day period ending with Ashura.
Shi'ites take to streets in big processions during Moharram, beating themselves with sharpened chains to mourn the death of Hussain, Mohammed's grandson and Ali's son, in a battle in Iraq in 680 AD.
In Afghanistan, clashes broke out in Herat between Shi'ite and Sunni Muslims.

Hello, I just wish to re-post my comments in regard to Jihad Watch’s February 8th article entitled ‘Sheikh Al-Qaradhawi Responds to Cartoons of Prophet Muhammad: Whoever is Angered and Does Not Rage in Anger is a Jackass - We are Not a Nation of Jackasses’. My comments explain why Shiites and Sunnis are constantly at each other’s throats but more importantly, my letter exposes the very folly of Muhammad’s intent, which was to unite all Arabs. Here is my letter once again, enjoy:
We are not a nation of jackasses, I’m sorry to tell you but you’re dead wrong! The Arabs spawn from the nation of Ishmael and in Genesis 16: 11-12 it says the following:
16,11 And the angel of the LORD said unto her: 'Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son; and thou shalt call his name Ishmael, because the LORD hath heard thy affliction. 16,12 And he shall be a wild ass of a man: his hand shall be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the face of all his brethren.'
Now you tell me, does the bible account lie? There’s something to this because even before Muhammad’s time, the Arabs had continuous infighting and jockeying for power through clan on clan brutality. There was never any peace except in Mecca, which became neutral ground where the various Arabian tribes would have their treasured pagan idols housed in the Kaaba. Yes you heard correct—the Kaaba, that tent which Moslems now bow down towards, everything old is new again. The Kaaba was just a tent that contained the mystic ‘Black Stone’ which fell to Earth, no doubt it was just a plan ordinary run of the mill meteorite. But the ancient and very superstitious Arabs thought it was a piece of the heavens, so they erected a tent around it. But later in history, somehow the Arab tribes began filling up this tent with various idols, each representing the god(s) of the different Arabian clans.
But wars for the scarce resources in the sands of Arabia were constantly being fought over, there was no such thing as sharing, just plain out right ownership of water wells, women, camels, land, etc. The only thing Muhammad changed was to throw out all the idols from the Kaaba, the “Black Stone’ remained but now he forced all his followers to bow 5 times a day to this tent! Muhammad’s entire belief system to unite all the Arabs into one super tribe called Moslems was all in vain. The Ishmaelites can’t change their genes, they were born to be wild asses, getting into everyone’s faces, taking what they want without ever sharing. They demand total control of the world while expecting absolute obedience from all challengers to their logic, power and greed. And as a result, for every action, there’s an equal an opposite reaction; that’s why the bible says his hand shall be against every man and every man's hand against him. This type of behavior leads to entrenched ignorance, stubbornness and constant battles with outsiders who challenge this very type of infantile emotional reactionary group think that is attributed to tribal societies.
After Muhammad’s death it didn’t take long for his followers to split apart and go on killing sprees over who should lead this new nation called Moslems. The entire split of Shiite and Sunni Moslems came about as various parties jockeyed for power. Because women had no power, their only power came by bolstering their males to represent them in their cause. The two girls in this case were Fatima, Muhammad’s daughter and Aisha, Muhammad’s child bride. The feud began because Fatima wanted her husband, Ali to become the next caliph while Aisha wanted her father, Abu Bakr to take over the reins of power. The Arabs that sided with Fatima’s cause became the Shiites while those Moslems that preferred Abu Bakr became known as the Sunnis.
But the bottom-line is that it never really mattered who became the caliph because the Ishmaelite heritage of all or nothing was too great. You can take the tiger out of the jungle and try to domesticate it but you can’t fight thousands of years of genealogical behavior (Roy, the magician learned that the hard way). You can’t tame Ishmaelites, their genes of being wild asses is too ingrained in their culture. This recent cartoon fiasco demonstrates this principle, this Imam Al-Shafi' said, “Whoever was angered and did not rage is a jackass. We are not a nation of jackasses.” See what I mean, their first response is to violently express their collective message to outsiders, to actively lash out against anyone who doesn’t respect them. But how can you respect a culture that fights for dominance with absolutely no concept on power sharing of views, thoughts, ideals and resources. The answer is you can’t!
That is why Muhammad reacted so violently to the Arabian Jews, they rejected him so he did what his culture had taught him, to lash out and dominate the outsiders! He banished most of the Arabian Jewish tribes, wholesale slaughtered others and took all their land, possessions and resources for his own. Then he redistributed his wealth among his newly minted tribe of Moslems. That’s why when Muhammad died, his followers fought among themselves, Sunni verses Shia to claim absolute dominance of the Moslem tribe. But this brain damaged religious schism demonstrates the absolute folly and downright illegitimacy of Muhammad’s utopian vision of a united Arab society.
The ultimate example of this schism, clan on clan violence and utter intolerance is epitomized by the Abassid clan verses the Umayyad clan. The Umayyads were the more liberal Moslems, experimenting with progressive ideas and were the clan responsible for that so-called golden era of Islam. It was the Umayyads that expanded Islam’s reach into the heart of Europe all the way westward to Cordoba in Spain. They’re the clan responsible for those magnificent libraries in Spain and for entertaining the idea of mixing Islam with modern European culture. Whereas the Abassidians began a puritan rebellion in Mecca and Medina not unlike the present-day Saudis who took over all Arabia for themselves under the religious guidance of the intolerant and autocratic Wahhabi sect. The Abassid went to war against the Umayyads and in the end massacred every living male Umayyad caliph from Egypt to Spain. Why, you ask? Because of those pesky Ishmaelite genes, they couldn’t help but act like wild asses and kill other Moslems. For the Abassids, the Umayyads were treated like outsiders even though they were Moslems because the Abassids saw Islamic adoption of liberal European ideals as threat to their religion. The Abassids assassinated all male Umayyad caliphs and all their immediate male descendants in order to maintain a pure form of Islam. Doesn’t this remind you of our modern-day world with the various forces of Islam struggling to fight for their vision of Moslem dominance and religious purity?
One hand you have the Saudis who are puritanical Sunnis fighting to fund Jihad and building fundamental Wahhabi mosques in as many countries as possible. They are also financially funding their own brand of terrorism in order to bring about a Sunni utopian world that includes the elimination of Judaism, Christianity and Shiites. Whereas the Iranians are Shiites, praying for their long lost leader, the Mahdi, the last line of Ali to miraculously appear in order to eliminate Judaism, Christianity and Sunnis. See this is the sheer stupidity of Muhammadism, these followers are trying so hard to pretend that they’re civilized but when push comes to shove, their true Ishmaelite genes burst through the surface. There can never be unity of the Arabs because of their entrenched Ishmaelite culture. The Sunnis and the Shiites are both saying the same thing, we’re entirely civilized anybody can see that and once the world follows exactly our thinking there will be peace. But see, that’s being an ass because there’s no way in hell you can make the world be all Sunni or all Shiite unless you kill everyone that opposes you and then you really will have hell on Earth.
That’s exactly where we are today both Sunni and Shiite are fighting each other for Moslem dominance, killing one another as well as killing as many Jews and Christians as possible. Now don’t dare tell me that these descendants of Ishmael aren’t still wild asses, striking his hand against every man and as a result, every man is striking back at him. Thus, today’s Moslems dwell in the face of all people and nations as a result of Muhammad’s followers trying to pretend to be something that they’re not-- a nation of jackasses!
The bitter irony is that Iranians are Persians, meaning non-Arabs descents of Ishmael and yet they are fighting for dominance in order to run an Arabian religious cultural and political apparatus. The Iranians keep saying to the western press, we’re not Arabs so stop labeling as Arabs. But if you’re not Arabs, then why should you care about bringing back an Arabian Messiah? Why do you pray in Arabic? And most importantly, why are you bowing down in the direction of the Kaaba, an Arabian cultural voodoo mystical tent? Talk about insanity! Talk about jackasses—let’s begin with the Iranians. See unlike the Saudis, the Iranians want ‘The Bomb’ in order to bring about the Mahdi! The Iranians are so fixated on fantasy that they are willing to institute a third world war in order to eliminate all Jews, Christians and Sunnis so that the Mahdi can rule the world of just Shiite Moslems! Now that’s asinine logic, which goes to demonstrate that once Ishmaelites invade a culture, that society soon becomes to resembles wild asses too. And thus, Iranians have become like Ishmaelites, as long as their will is to destroy most nations in the world, these nations in turn will be against Iran. And as long as Iran plays this doomsday card, they will forever dwell in the face of the civilized world, which just wants to be left alone and live in peace.

A Caliph is the fellow who took up Mohammed's mantle and spiritual AND secular ruler of all Moslems.
The four "rightly guided" Caliphs were Abu Bakr (the father of Aisha [Moh.s youngest wife]), then Omar (I think he was also a father-in-law of Moh.), then Othman (who compiled and wrote down the Koran), then Ali (who was Moh.s cousin AND son-in law (did he marry Fatima?). Ali first fought off a challenge from Aisha Moh.s widow. Then Ali's son Hussein (or was it Ali then Hussein)failed to fight off a challenge from ___, the 5th Caliph.
Here! is where the Shi'ite/Sunni division begins. The Shi'ites didn't think the new Caliph was legitimate, and even though there is no longer a Caliph, they still kill each other.
Wy not give the Kurds, turkomens and assyrians either one state together or one state each in northern iraq. That would create longterm allies for the west in the middle east.
