More indication of the grave difficulties Christians face in Pakistan -- which is why I keep insisting that any aid to this putative friend and ally should be predicated upon a complete ending of violence toward and discrimination against Christians. February 8 (Compass) – A crowd of Muslim women and a few men attacked a Catholic church in Pakistan’s Punjab province last week, injuring two Christian women – one 70 years old – and vandalizing the building.At least three men and 20 women attacked the Kawanlit village chapel on February 3, leaving 70-year-old Veero Mehnga Masih with broken legs and also injuring Saleema Mazir Masih, 50. The mob broke windows, smashed the altar and burned Bibles.
Despite prompt condemnation of the violence from church leaders across Punjab, police refused to file an official complaint. Kawanlit’s Christians told Compass today that they are powerless to pursue a court case and plan to seek extra-legal reconciliation.
On Monday (February 6), wealthy village landowner Mohammad Iqbal opened a case against eight of Kawanlit’s Christian’s for starting a fight that led to the church destruction. But according to Franciscan parish priest Bernard Bhatti, the eight accused “were not even there” at the time of the church attack. He said the incident stemmed from a property dispute with Iqbal, whose relatives were involved in the attack.
Interesting way to show respect for their "beloved prophet of Islam, Issa" (Jesus).
And a curious method of demonstrating their tolerance for other "People of the Book" that Muslims are always crowing about, from CAIR to a thousand websites promoting the "Religion of Peace".
I think this incident needs a cartoon, too.
Maybe Mohammad at the door of thew Church saying:
"No, stop! Cartoons about me may not be acceptable -because of the dangers of idolatry and iconography (although, the ones the Danes did were iconoclastic, so I don't think you got the message from either of us)- but damaging houses of Jesus, one of our prophets, is just insane!"
(He was a verbose guy, after all.)
This incident brings to mind a question I have long had regarding women and Islam. Could Muslim women ever take the lead on serious reform of Muslim societies? Women such as Hirisi Ali and Nonie Darwish give me hope that this could happen. Are the large masses of Muslim women part of the problem, participating in such violence as honor killings, supporting abusive child marriages for their daughters and acts such as mentioned above in the Pakistani Christian church. I must admit that the Muslim mindset and the disturbed societies that they live in make me doubt that women could do much to change the outcome or would want to be part of a positive change for themselves and their children.
Odd .. I thought that, according to Muslims, Jesus is a Muslim.
So, why attack what belongs to Jesus? Self-hatred?
Self hatred, and all the insecurities and social/spiritual decrepitude that go with it, seems to be the most consistent condition of Islam -- from its onset to current times.

The attacks to catholic buildings in islamic countries is worrying and the killing and menaces to clergy too, I think that the strong opinions respect Islam in the New Pope, could be an answer of this. I think that the attacks will grow and more catholics will suffer. It´s so difficult evangelizing in these countries. But Christ will help us.
I'm sure we will be reading in the papers soon about the international outcry and riots by Christians over the destruction of Bibles.

Pakistan and India should trade again. All infidels in Pakistan should get a one way ticket to India, provided that from India, all the ~140m Muslims get a one way ticket to Pakistan.
Problem solved. Pakistan would also get to overtake Indonesia as the world's largest Mohammedan country.
Why is this film called provocative? It will be embraced by the anti-religious as absolute proof, and dismissed as hyperbole by those who faith is strong. In the worst case for social discord, there may be some heated debate on both sides of the premise to convince the other of some fallicy of logic or fact.
My betting money is against Mr. Flemming doing a truly provocative movie denying the existence of Mohammed, or the image of Mohammed as the perfect man to be emulated for all time.
it might be difficult to send out all muslims out ofIndia. what they should do, is tell them to denounce islam or face being kicked out to their muslim country of choice. if the international elites complain, tell them if the saudi's can do this, so can India.. and forever rid yourself of the cult... this is a wish list for the Free India citizen of course.!

I dont believe this!!! The religion of peace do not do such things. Islam is a religion of Peace, they honour all the prophets from Abraham down the line. So how could Muslims even think of attacking the house of Isa (Jesus), who was a muslim anyway, like all the prophets before him.
Muslims never ridicule or publish cartoons of other religion's founders, they just behead, slaughter & terrorise per the "holy book, the noble Koran". They do no wrong, They just follow what the founder said and did. Is it not right to follow the founders decree? Thats part and parcel of the religion of Mohamed.
maryrose, I used to pin my hopes on Muslim women. The odd sane voice seemed to come from their women mostly, but I've given up such hope. Bad enough they attacked a church, but an elderly person as well. Disgusting. They suffer the same disconnect when it comes to compassion and respect for others - it doesn't include non-Muslims. Never will.
During the weeks after the cartoon rage, we kept hearing Muslims bleating about how they respect all prophets, including Jesus. We read about that a lot in papers and on the Net. Like everything that Muslims say and claim - their actions do not prove their words. As usual. But the papers won't report this story, to prove the Muslim hypocrisy. No, of course not. And millions of people will continue to go around, completely fooled, thinking that Muslims respect Christians.

Posted news stories like these do not suprise me because often in countries where Muslims are in the majority, non-Muslims are treated very badly. As a non-Muslim; I have read a number of reports on how Muslims have attacked non-Muslims. They are too many to mention, but it does include Christians, and when Christian believers are attacked, Jesus is not only attacked but dishonored. What suprised me is that Muslim women would do it, because they who bear the burdens of being Muslim, they would be the ones who would call for reform.
As far as being respectful of other faiths when it comes to cartoons, I have seen some very nasty cartoons that have been printed that are seen as being anti-Jewish or anti-Christian in a number of Arab/Muslim newspapers.
BTW, just want to let you know, Jesus was born and raised a Jew, not a Muslim. Islam was not around in Jesus's day. Just a few thoughts.

Of course they terrorise non-muslims in muslim countries; they publish crude, vulger cartoons of Jews and Christians in most of the middle eastern papers. They attack churches all the time. They claim Abraham to Jesus as Allah's prophets, therefore according to them, they were Muslim prophets.Every one other than a Muslim knows that Jesus was a Jew.
