South African court bans the country's Sunday newspapers from reprinting Muhammad cartoons

Plus economic threats from Iran. Cartoon Dhimmitude Update from WND, with thanks to Robert:

A South African court banned the country's Sunday newspapers from reprinting the cartoons.

Iran's president ordered his commerce minister to study canceling all trade contracts with European countries whose newspapers have published the caricatures, the official Islamic Republic News Agency reported.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the caricatures showed the "impudence and rudeness" of Western newspapers against the prophet as well as the "maximum resentment of the Zionists (Jews) ruling these countries against Islam and Muslims."

WND reprinted the cartoons in this piece. Human Events has reprinted them also, in conjunction with an article of mine.

Yes, it's true. Last week friday night, the Jamiat-ul Ulama Transvaal council of theologians brought a successful application in the Johannesburg High Court to STOP the Sunday Times and other Johncom media publications from publishing the cartoons.

I live in South Africa, and was keenly waiting to see whether today's newspapers(05.02.2006)would publish the cartoons, or if they would cave in to the external censoring.
Alas my wait was in vain, and not one newspaper printed the cartoons. It was very dissapointing to see the newspapers being dictated to about what they may or may not publish.

One of the sunday newspapers, called The Sunday Times, and which decided not to publish, said in one of their articles today, that "no credible newspaper can be held to ransom by the beliefs of a section of a population. We are obliged to reflect the world that we live in -not just a part of it- for the benefit of all out readers." I find it ironic that they say this, but at the same time they were intimidated into not publishing the cartoons.

If you would like to tell them how pathetic their actions were, here is their email address. suntimes@sundaytimes.co.za

O Globo in Brazil ran some of the toons on Friday. I wonder if this will effect THEIR trade with Muslim countries.

Who the hell cares is MSM doesn't have the guts to show them? The cartoons are all over the Internet and there's a blogswarm around them.

If the entire Infidel world were to publish:

1) the original cartoons, in all their anodyne obviousness and

2) the cartoons forged by Muslims themselves to whip up further rage and

3) the audio-visual material routinely disseminated in the Arab and Muslim world, beginning with those videotaped decapitations of Western Infidels believed so impressive and inspiring that were proudly made, and are proudly used as recruiting aids

it would be a good thing.

And as a Belgian commentator said, such cartoons should be published routinely, until Muslims in the West either acclimate and reconcile themselves to Western ideas of freedom of speech (and many other freedoms as well, including the freedom of concscience which would allow those born into Islam to jettison that belief-system if they so choose without fear of punishment), or do not -- in which case they should be asked, promptly, to leave countries whose basic laws and understandings they oppose, sometimes -- often it would appear -- violently.

The Western world has no need to tolerate any of this. Routinely, in history -- the last example in the West was the forcible removal of ethnic Germans from Czechoslovakia (the Benes Decrees) and Poland and other countries of Central Europe just after World War II -- populations deemed a mortal threat have been moved out.

The countries of Western Europe have allowed, over the past 30 years, large numbers of immigrants to enter their countries. All of the non-Muslim immigrants -- the Chinese, the Vietnamese, the Hindus, the Sikhs, the black Christians from the Antilles and the British West Indies and sub-Saharan Africa, the Latin Americans (including the Ecuadoreans in -- have managed to adjust, in one way or another, and to accept the basic tenets, and the legitimacy, of the nation-state.

One group, and one group only, has not integrated, and shows little sign of being able to integrate -- the Muslim immigrants. And the source for their permanent anger, hostility to the Infidels and to the forces of order and to the government, come from the tenets of Islam itself. No matter how hard the governments and peoples of the West try to appease, try to offer all the benefits of the welfare state -- free education, free health care, free apartments -- they cannot and will not win over all but an infinesimal number of those Muslims, and those they win over will be won over precisely because they wish to distance themselves as much as possible from, the hysteria and hate that the tenets, attitudes, and atmospherics of Islam itself inculcate in so many, including those who never visit the mosque but nonetheless pick up, from the air in Muslim communities, where everything is fixed by Islam and communicated with or without benefit of clergy, i.e. the imam's grim khutbas.

What is to be done? A halt to all Muslim migration. An insistence on refusing to yield to any Muslim demands that would lead to changes in the laws, customs, manners of the host Infidel nation-state. A nationalization procedure that would require, on the model of, but far more extesensive than, the questions now required of would-be citizens in Baden-Wurtemburg, so as to make clear that loyalty to the Infidel nation-state, and to those laws, customs, manners, can be and is given -- and any subsequent sign that those assurances were falsely given should be grounds for stripping people of their citizenship, and deported.
]
That, and other measures to ensure that the dream of Muslims, that "Islam is to dominate and not to be dominated," are a start. Other measures may be necesary, if enough of those True Believers do not take the hint.

This new policy has to be undertaken now, not in ten or twenty years. And those of Yesterday's Men -- all those who have worked so assiduously to appease the Arabs and Muslims, both within Europe, and without, should be removed from all their positions of influence, whether at the BBC, or the assorted ministries of foreign affairs, or in the bureacracy of the E.U. They are agents of influence for Islam and enemies of Europe -- though European. It is they, and not those Danish cartonnists, who should be on the run.

What we all can do is ask our local papers to publish the cartoons.Free speech is in danger .If possible pay for the cartoons to be in a paper as freedom of press issue. They cannot turn down revenue,if they refuse then it is censorship let sensorship be dammed all should know that the cartoons are the most censored item in the world today.

I scrolled down your site looking at the posts from the last few days but I didn't see the cartoons you are referring to. Perhaps I just missed them.

I disagree. I think it is important that the
cartoons get out on newspapers too. Besides, if
it's only the net, just wait until the UN gets
its little paws on the net. Bye bye motoons!

No, we need lots more. I'd love it if someone
took one of those Dutch Photoshop jobs of 'Mo
selling beer or Danish cheese and made a real product.

"Mo: Killing infidels and raping their
underage daughters is exhausting work!
When I'm done, I like to have a Tuborg
Gold! Sure, it is forbidden, but my sock
puppet Allah allows me to do whatever I
want. Don't you Allah?

Allah: Sure thing Mo! would you like to have
more wives too?

Mo: No thanks Allah! As long as I can just
bang whatever I see, I'll be OK. Wives are a
pain anyways!"

That kind of thing...

JadeD-

I have to agree with American.

The mainstream press is cowering behind the white flag of "non-offense".

If they dare not show a valid editorial image ( and explore the discussion started by the Danish artists: "Is it safe to make a politcal comment in a cartoon about the political side of violent Islam?") then the Western print media have castrated themselves -without a shot being fired (at them).

Which is what the Islamic fascistic death threats are meant to result in.

If you bow to a theocratic tyranny WITHOUT EVEN A SHOW OR RESISTENCE what is the meaning of a "free press"?

Zip. Nada. Zilch. Nichevo. Zero. Nix. None.

I was too was deeply saddened, and then angered by the cartoons. We Moslems are so deeply offended that I personally called UBL and asked how to assist the terror campaign. He called me back and told me to put a bonnet on my little girl's head showing solidarity with him. So my wife and I did just that. We went to Harrods and picked up the latest style of pink "My mommy and daddy love Osama, and so do I" bonnets. The selection was huge, but we finally settled on a bonnet that my wife thought was "cutest". You can see us in the photo on JW. My wife is the one wearing all black. I hope you did not catch her eyes in the photo since they are part of her body, as is her (my) vagina, but I digress.

At first, I wanted to take my frustrations out on someone in Picadilly, but then I thought, better yet, why not "Jew" York. God I need necks to cut for Allah. Does ebay sell nuclear devices? God I need one to detonate to show these Britons that I am mad at Denmark's government for allowing a paper to print cartoons.

So this is why I pray. Allah, the merciful, the most high cult leader, I don't know, this whole protest thing is just not satisfying my anger enough. Of course, bringing my child to the protests helps, as I am happy knowing I am raising a good child free from Western impurity. Please give me the terrorist tools I need to punish the infidels that give me welfare.

Mr. Boosh, I hereby demand that the US media not show these heretical pictures. Mr. B-Lair, you lied to us about Iraq, so I am sure you are lying about Denmark about something. I demand that president Bush not allow them shown in his country, and have all the cartoonists arrested (and tried in a Sharia court), since that is how I know governments to work. Isn't that how your Western countries work?

The cartoons were already printed in a Portuguese paper and the Portuguese president already said that there would be no concessions to freedom of speech. I also just watched the cartoons in at least a Portuguese channel, and from what I was told the leader of the Muslim community took a beating (not in the literal sense) from the journalist that interviewed him regarding this issue.

Not a bad day.

Cruzado, I've finished Os Lusiadas in the English translation. I'm sure that whatever our past differences, you share my hope that the self-assured girl (nothing like a billion dollars to make you self-assured) from Lourenco Marques, Ferreira Heinz Kerry, if she has a chance to influence someone, possibly her husband or George Clooney (who from one of Heinz Kerry's former houses, now his, at Laglio, can see those American academics lolling contentedly about in Old World luxe at Bellagio across the lake), will have stuck in her brain the general take on Islam as expressed by Camoens -- a take not different from that of Dante (see where he puts Muhammad), Shakespeare (see "Othello"), Voltaire (see "Mahomet") and, in fact, the take of every European writer for whom mental freedom was a desideratum, including Hume, Tocqueville, Bertrand Russell, and others not quite so easily assigned to the category "Christian right-wing fundamentalist Republican."

It is remarkable how easy it was to transition from the tyranny of self-censorship to the tyranny of state censorship thus effecting the de facto abolition of free speech. Since democracy cannot exist without free speech South Africa can no longer be considered a democracy.

The South African courts are pure poison, as bad as the Canadian ones. Evidently the predominance among the ANC leadership of former exiles brought up in daily contact with the worst of the European left - and of Desmond Tutu, who is theologically the worst sort of Anglican "progressive" - has reflected in the nomination of judges who understand their work as being a part of a social engineering project. The crazy bit is that the ANC's black electoral base is largely Christian and conservative. A lot of blacks are shocked even by the short trousers and shirts worn by white South African in summers, and have altogether traditional views about society, marriage, and sexual morality. How long this African majority can continue to be led, represented and governed by an elite of would-be black intellectuals sporting the morality of Berkeley or the Canadian Liberal Party is anyone's guess.
