The website of the Sweden Democrats (Sverigedemokraterna) reopened on Friday morning, after the far-right party removed drawings of the prophet Muhammad. The site had been taken down by its hosting company after requests from Sweden’s foreign ministry and security service, Säpo.The hosting company, Levonline, says its block on the Sweden Democrats’ site and that of its newspaper SD-Kuriren remains in place. The party’s secretary, Björn Söder, says the site has been reopened by moving it to another server, although the pictures of Muhammad have been removed.
“We have done this with the safety of Swedish citizens abroad in mind,” Söder said.
At the time of writing, however, the site was not loading.
And they tell us that shutting child porn sites is technically far too difficult, if not impossible.

As a Norwegian, I'm not happy with the way my own authorities have handled the cartoon issue, but Sweden is just beyond hopeless. Swedish authorities have now gone to the drastic step of closing down the website of a political party that featured a Muhammad cartoon online. Sweden has national elections this year, and the ruling elites are scared to death of any debates about immigration. Probably no other Western nation has more problems and less debate about Muslim immigration than Sweden, and the only thing the elites are doing about this is demonizing neighboring Denmark for "xenophobia":

Call it a failure of representative democracy. The current government have been elected on a distributive economic policy supported by the less rich half of swedish voters and 90% of the immigrants, but they hardly represent a majority of the people in any other issue.
Being a swede I have some dhimmi-solutions to hinder the long term muslim takeover of Sweden. Either we could give Danes or Americans double citizenships and thereby voting rights in Swedish elections or we could become the 51 state of USA. However it would require two won elections in order for the constitution to be changed so it is something of a catch 22 situation.
I doubt a portrait of Mohammed by this method would have been any more acceptable.

mo-zart: As an American, I cannot encourage you to make Sweden the 51st state. Much as we're screamed at for being imperialistic, our "Manifest Destiny" doctrine never went beyond the Arctic-to-Isthmus vision of the whole of North America. Also,it got whittled down until we see Canada as basically a benign neighbor rather than as an intolerable insult and rankling sore of our "unfinished revolution" (a dig to China rather than my own opinion--I'm of the Caada-as-neighbor rather than the "54-40 Or Fight" persuasion my own right-wing self). We also gave up on incorporating the lands to the south long ago--even to the point where we'd probably wave a polite good-bye should Puerto Rico's Nacionalistas win an election down there. Hence, any place in Europe is out of luck.
By the way, I'm curious: how do you Swedes look on the secessions of Norway, Estonia, Nyland--oops, Finland?

There is also a bill in the House to remove the US from the UN, HR 1146.
It would be interesting to see the muslim reactions on a modern art exhibition with muhammed as the subject. One of the most intelligent artistic responses on this cartoon affair has that theme. An artist and a muslim stands peacefully together watching a modern artwork made by the artist. The muslim comments: "great"!. Then the artist tells the muslim that he calls it "Muhammed descending a staircase". The muslim is totally outraged. He brings a shootgun out of his clothing and shoots the artist. End of story.
I believe you could create a muslim outrage with just a blank sheet of paper if you called it "Islams positive contributions to the world"

I can't say I have heard even one swedish citizen who have propagated for a recounqering of lost land. We have a friendly rivalry with our nordic neigbours in matters like sport but I believe that generally the relationship with them are very good.
I believe an exchange of land between different countries would be a smart move. Sweden could get an English caribeean island and Britain would receive a harbor in the Baltic sea.

Is it what made those Christian villagers in Lebanon "right-wing" during all those years of the war to fend off Muslim attacks? We demand to know, from this and all other publications and writers, on what basis, other than alarm over Muslim immigration, which such people as Oriana Fallaci, Ibn Warraq, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the late Pim Fortuyn, and a great many others who have never exhibited the slightest sign of being "right-wing" share -- what it is that justifies that epithet. The Local is an english language newspaper that Fjordman quoted,banned me for posting a few of the cartoons to their comments section,plus a few links from the illastrated pig thread depicting terror threats both to Sweden and Denmark,and some of the anti-jewish jokes
