Feb. 12 -- U.K. security forces have thwarted three terrorist attacks since the failed London bombings of July 21, Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown will say in a speech tomorrow, as he seeks to raise his profile beyond financial matters in his bid to lead the nation after Tony Blair.``The terrorist threat has not diminished and will not diminish until we defeat it,'' Brown is due to say, according to excerpts the speech released by his office. ``Let us be in no doubt that three attack plans threatening Britain have been thwarted since July 21,'' when four bombs placed on London subways and a bus failed to detonate.
He will pledge more money to combat terrorism and will call for a ``British solution'' to finding the right balance between security and liberty, according a Brown aide. He will speak in London to the Royal United Service Institute.
Brown, 54, is beginning to address topics such as national security and national identity that are the traditional terrain of the prime minister. While Blair has said he wants to serve a full third term, which could last until 2010, political analysts widely expect he will step down in the next 18 to 24 months, with Brown succeeding him...

Brown is so lacking in charisma, there's a chance Cameron could get the Tories in next time. I hope so. Cameron is an unknown quantity, but he's saying some sensible things about terrorism:

are to follow the historical precedent of holding Italians during WWII in case they were to aid the enemies of freedom.
However, locking up 30 million people in europe is not feasible so I support a mass deportation.
This is not so comfortable to the western mindset, however, the muslims will be quite at home with it beceause there is also the historical precedent of the jews being expelled from many middle eastern countries.
Isn't this the same David Cameron who was considering dropping the Tory policy of imposing a cap on the number of asylum seekers Britain can accept. He opposed the 90-day detention bill, and one thing we don't need in today's world is a flip-flopper. And Gordon Brown reminded us that some of these terror figures can have up to 120 aliases, and we know that the Tories got rid of 6,000 customs officers.
Until police start saying "Islamic threat" instead of terrorist threat, we're all just spitting into the wind.

Of course we have to wait for dour old Gordon's speech to find out who planned the three thwarted terrorist attacks. ("Thwart" is a lovely word, and underused.) Perhaps it was disgruntled Quakers, or grounded yogic flyers from the Natural Law Party.
Sooner or later, this attempt at euphemism will backfire and everyone will understand that "terrorist" embraces "Muslim". "Muslim terrorist" will be a tautology.
I have little faith in the prospect of any Labour government doing anything serious about Islam. Labour has pandered to Muslims ever since it took power, and nearly managed to muzzle criticism of Islam with its religious hatred bill. Blair is too influenced by his silly, silly wife, the jilbab-enabler. I know Cherie Blair is a QC, but she is stupid in the way that intelligent people often are.
For all his faults, Cameron rightly singles out the Human Rights Act as being a major obstacle in the fight against "terror" = Islam. And he rightly sees ID cards as a red herring.

We've had a lot of muslim visitors and we're getting a lot of previously uninterested people starting to think about islam and its sordid past...
At the end of the day, the biggest impediment to stopping Islamic terrorism and preventing Iran etc from getting nukes is the mindset of the British people themselves - the result of reading too many newspapers, listening to too many apologists on 24-hour news and listening to so-called experts who know very little. We have a BBC which undermines the fight at every twist and turn - terrorists are called anything but - they get called insurgents, militants, fighters, activists etc, and when terrorists do get blown up, the innocent civilians chestnut gets piped through the speakers of our TV sets. Likewise, we read the same pap in the newspapers. Dhimmitude is entrenched in the fabric of British society, a fact illustrated to me when a stranger called me a fascist two or three weeks ago after they overheard me criticising Islam, and saying that terrorism is driven by the texts of the Koran, Sira and hadith. We really need to look at our own population, because out of every 100 non-Muslims in Britain, it is doubtful if five of them know anything about Islam, and what they think they know will be horribly wide of the mark. Notwithstanding the fact that there is little appetite amongst the British people to do anything other than appease 1930s style. People want easy painless solutions to every problem - and that includes the problem of Islamic terrorism, and are deluded into believing that if we would simply negotiate with Al Qaeda, then they would leave us alone, and, sadly, one of the biggest lessons of the post-911 world is that Governments which take on terrorists quickly become unpopular.
That's why I posted the link above. We need to get people thinking. I've already brought quite a few people on that message board to the conclusion that there is something seriously awry with our present thinking on islam. Now they will spread their knowledge. It is doing things like this which will spread the desire to find out and eventually stand up to islam. Oak trees begin as acorns.
We need to be out proselytising. We need to show that we are not extremists, racists or hate mongers. That we have real, legitimate concerns about islam. Get on the message boards, get arguing in pubs, every opportunity tell people in a way that won't make them back off. Get people thinking...
I hope Brown's read his koran a little more closely than Blair. Cameron's yet to say anything of real substance; he seems more man of the minute than of the moment. Reminds me of Python's "Upper Class Twit of the Year". And Davis is a bit of a Gumby. They should've stuck with Haige. There does seem to be more awareness from some Tories though.

I have to admit that she used a previous appearance to roundly criticize Saudi Arabia's treatment of women, but nonetheless.... let's not let our hearts all break at once, fellas!

Hands up those posters who have got Excel or any other spreadsheet package on their computers. Now lets have a spreadsheet lesson. In one of the cells, say B1, enter the digit 1 (representing today). Then in the cell below enter the formula =B1+(B1*3%) - for Excel users. Then replicate this sum down 50 or more rows.
The object behind this spreadsheet exercise is the fact that the world's Muslim population is increasing 3% faster annually than the world population as a whole. This exercise will tell us that if the present trend continues for 24 more years, the proportion of Muslims as a global population will have doubled, then trebled after 37 years, and quintupled after 55 years. This is a rather nasty portent for our grandchildren, indeed anyone who will be alive in 2061 or thereabouts. This is why Islam has to be attacked and forced into enlightenment or implosion, and the PC brigade who attacked those cartoons and prevented them from being published will have such a lot to answer for by the middle of this century.

The rise in world population ain't rosy... In the letters page of this week's New Scientist, a reader writes concerning climate change:
"The world population has doubled in my lifetime. Less than three centuries ago, the world population was three-quarters of a billion.
