It's too bad they can't get the whole $1.5 billion back, but this is a good sign. It's also too bad that they didn't ask for this $50 million back right after it was given, when sermons carried on the official Palestinian media called for terror attacks against American soldiers. WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States has asked the Palestinian Authority to return $50 million in U.S. aid because Washington does not want a Hamas-led government to have the funds, the State Department said on Friday.The money was demanded as part of a full review of all U.S. aid for the Palestinians that began soon after the militant group Hamas' surprise victory in elections last month. A Hamas-led parliament was set to be sworn in on Saturday but it could take several weeks for a Cabinet to be formed.
State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said the caretaker government of President Mahmoud Abbas agreed to return the money, given last year for infrastructure projects after Israel's withdrawal from Gaza and parts of the West Bank.
"In the interests of seeing that these funds not potentially make their way into the coffers of a future Palestinian government (made up of Hamas) ... we have asked for it to be returned and the Palestinian Authority has agreed," McCormack told reporters.
A Palestinian official confirmed Washington had asked for $50 million in aid to be returned. "The Palestinian Authority promised to comply," the official said.
Over the past decade, the United States has given about $1.5 billion in aid to the Palestinians, mostly through aid groups.
how come we throw aid at these loosers that fill their lives with hateful and murderous passions?
How come we keep giving aid when it the place stays like some 7th century cesspit?
Why don't we start giving aid to the Armenians in Nagorno Karabakh, or the Karen and Karenni in Burma or the Nuba tribal peoples of the Nuba Mountains in Sudan.
I don't get this crazy world. The self proclaimed "free" west gives money to hateful murderers and gives land mines and weapons to the enemies of peaceful peoples in Sudan and Burma and Karabakh, and the rest.

Since Egypt has failed to fulfill a single one of its solemn commitments, not one of which amounted to anything like the requirement on Israel to relinquish the entire Sinai, together with three new airfields, oil fields, and roads (not to mention St. Catherine's Monastery, which like all Christian sites can only be guaranteed by Israeli, and not Egyptian or other Muslim control), and since the carefully-controlled Egyptian press and television, instead of encouraging an end to hostilities with Israel, has instead whipped them up on every possible occasion -- a television series based on The Protocols of the Elders of Zion does not exactly fulfill the requirement of "ceasing to engage in hostile propaganda" that was imposed on Egypt by the Camp David Accords, the money that started to flow, as a way to insure compliance with those Accords, was given by the Americans, and pocketed by the Egyptians, wrongly.
And since, further, the same Egyptian media that has whipped up more anti-Israel hatred has also managed to do the same with the American government, why should not the Americans ask back for the $60 billion?
That $60 billion could be applied to solar and wind energy, which together have received additional funding, according to the State of the Union address, of less than $100 million, or 1/60th that amount. $60 billion can do us a lot of good, while sending it to Egypt has done us no good whatsoever.
Foreign aid should be subject to return, if the recipient fails to show that it has put that foreign aid to good use, and that good use should include, in the first place, encouraging gratitude, and friendship, toward the giver of such aid. In Egypt's case, there has been none.
American taxpayers want that money back.
What Congressman will demand that this be looked into. Whether or not anything comes of such a demand is not important. The mere making of it, publicly, should get Egypt's attention. The next stop is to start tallking, publicly, about the concept of the "Jizyah" and how very like the Jizyah our foreign aid to Muslim countries, all Muslim countries, that take that aid for granted and are astounded when we make noises about cutting -- much less ending -- it. But we should end it. We need that money. We do not need to give it to those who hate us (see Qur'an, see Hadith, see the Sira, to find out for yourself what Muslims are taught about all Infidels, and what fate, in the Muslim view, lies in store for those Infidels.
We are those Infidels. That fate is what they have in store for us. Why are we supplying them with money?
The question is why are we giving any money to any Islamic nation? They all hate us so vehemently. At every opportunity they have, they have attacked us. Even today they are attacking everything American in Islamic countries, for cartoons published in Denmark. If the day comes that they could destroy us, they would do so without any compassion even thought we have given so much aid to these savages over the years.

Did We forget, we do have a Declared War, on and by, some advocates of Islam rage, rape & terror. I do believe this War is still blessed by Allah's very own words, The Quran, a true Arabian Terrorist Manifesto, and Islam's Road Map to Victory over Kaffir with conversion options. I believe that covers just about 99.9%+/- .1 of all Muslims.
