Another indictment of official British dhimmitude in the face of jihadist activity on the Sceptered Isle. From The Telegraph, with thanks to Counterrevolution:
In the wake of the terrible terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, Britain drafted UN resolution 1373 which called on all governments to "Deny safe haven to those who finance, plan, support or commit terrorist acts, or who provide safe havens; and to prevent those who finance, plan, facilitate or commit terrorist acts from using their respective territories for those purposes against other states."That elementary measure was also a piece of blatant hypocrisy from the British government. For at least a decade, and possibly much longer, it had been covert British policy to provide, in Britain, a safe haven for radical Muslim terrorists to "finance, plan, support or commit terrorist acts".
That is why Abu Hamza - who was finally convicted of incitement to murder last week on the basis of evidence most of which was at least seven years old - was allowed to operate for so long from his mosque in Finsbury Park. It is also why the British government consistently refused requests to extradite known terrorists, not just from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the Yemen and Jordan, but also from our neighbours in France. To the understandable fury of the French and many of the governments in the Middle East, Britain knowingly haboured and protected some of the most dangerous Islamic fundamentalists in the world.
To give just three examples: the plots to plant bombs on the Paris Metro in the 1980s and 1990s were hatched in London; so was the assassination of General Massoud in Afghanistan, days before the 9/11 outrages; and so was the kidnapping of Western tourists in Yemen. The government and security services knew what was happening: they were frequently alerted by pleas for action by increasingly desperate foreign governments. But they chose to allow the fanatics to continue their deadly activities.
It is difficult to understand the thinking behind this transparently self-destructive policy. The idea seems to have been that if we left Islamic fanatics free to plot terrorism here, they would reciprocate by not blowing up people in Britain. The short-sighted stupidity of that policy was definitively demonstrated by the deaths of more than 50 people on July 7 last year....
Read it all. The piece goes on to say that the government must isolate jihadists from "the peaceful majority of Muslims in Britain." This will be extraordinarily difficult, and indeed probably cannot be done without the open, full, and sincere cooperation of that "peaceful majority." If such cooperation is not forthcoming, lip service should no longer be paid to this notion, and official indulgence no longer extended to those who are identified as part of that "peaceful majority."

As demoralizing as stories about the UK's blatant hypocrisy might appear -- I am encouraged these days... I know that Britain, the US, and the West in general all have a LONG way to go to successfully confront the Jihadis in our midst...
I firmly believe that the only way to prevail against Islamic terrorism in our midst is 1.) stopping the spread of Islam in the West, and 2.) drastically reducing the number of Muslims living here...
So where are we today? Somewhere between September 10, 2001, and #2 above... It will take a long time to get there, but I'm certain the Muslim trajectory will not change, and the elusive "moderate" Muslim will continue to remain elusive and inert...
Therefore, I am certain that Muslim violence against us will continue, and that gradually more and more Westerners will be forced by the Muslim monsters themselves about the ugly truth about Islam and Muslims... Eventually we will get around to drastically reducing the number of Muslims living here in our midst, at which point we will largely have won... As for the threat they continue to post in their Islamic redoubts and fortificatioins across Islam ---? There's nothing a flying wing can't contend with there -- At this later stage, I think we will also have long abandoned the notion that our blood and treasure should be expended on redeeming the irredeemable..
We will finally understand that Islam is a cancer which must be starved and surgically removed wherever possible...
Until the West jettisons its pathological obsession with multiculturalism and the self-inflicted repudiation of its own institutions and traditions, it will never come to grips with the situation. Never.
Heads should roll at a government level for this lack of action.

Lepanto, so true, Islam is very opportunistic and grows with our weakness, it could only have advanced at all because of the pathologies that have been ascending in the West over the last forty years.
If we survive, which I think we must and will, them our culture will have been strengthened. What does not kill you will leave you stronger.
Instead of continuously exposing the quagmires of Islam, we should expose and fully digest the idiocies and falsehoods within our society that have led to the present state of events.How did it happen and how must we change to stop it?
If we do not understand and deal with our own weaknesses we will be unable to confront the march of Islam.

Well the French did just that during the PLO's hijacking spree in the 70s, paying for protection which did not help much with the Entebbe incident.
It seems that their behaviour only stimulated Ghaddafi into using terrorist actions against French planes as well.
The realpolitik during the last century was basically shortsighted as well as immoral.
The two fanatics who went to Israel to blow up civilians seemed innocent enough until they murdered. The 7/7 terrorists seemed innocent until they murdered.
How the hell do we tell the difference? Not all the terrorists openly preach hatred before they detonate themselves.

Extraordinarily difficult is right. How many times have we heard that the family of the suicide bomber was "SHOCKED! SHOCKED! He was such a nice and quiet boy, so pious", they exclaimed in horror.
Now if this is to be believed as true, then one has to ask the question that if close family members cannot detect a potential Jihadi, how can we?
France is doing the right stuff. It is quietly deporting illegals (90% or more are muslims). If Nicholas Sarkozy becomse President of France, we will see an acceleration of this.
