“Why will we protest against people who seem to be the only ones addressing our greviences in these days?”
Well, I’ve been given fair warning. I just received this email:
You are knoledgeable about Islam and the world of politics, I take it. If so then you know that you are spreading lies and falsehood on your site. I am emailing you to announce that in response to the call of duty as a Muslim and a thinking citizen of the world, I have began a blog which will counter your website and provide thinking opposition to your material. The website is: http://thecallforthought.blogspot.com/. You are free to come on the site and oppose my views as well, as our ultimate goal is truth. However, everyday everything you post will be challenged. This is fair warning.
And it’s true, folks: I am happy to announce that Jihad Watch has arrived. For the first time, we actually have an entire website dedicated to exposing our errors and enormities.
And it’s a good one, too. I took a look over at Javier Novoa’s website, and I found a great deal of interest. For example, Mr. Novoa takes great umbrage at my statement here: “British Muslims are set to protest the cartoons, but have never quite gotten around to protesting against bin Laden, or Omar Bakri, or Abu Hamza, or any of the other exponents of jihad violence.” Mr. Novoa’s response:
Robert, why will we protest against people who seem to be the only ones addressing our greviences in these days? Don’t get me wrong, I am no supporter of extremism or violence, and disagree with many of the views of the aforementioned people, but we must say that these people are the only ones doing something about our grievences today. It is unfortunate that it has come to this, that only the people who believe in violence are doing anything these days. This is because the doors of political dialogue have been shut.
He said it. And for the record, Javier Novoa describes himself as “a simple University student in Texas, US.” Yes. Well, I have been warned indeed.
