Abbas: Al-Qaida Has Infiltrated Gaza Strip

Mahmoud Abbas reveals what regular Jihad Watch readers have known since last August. Perhaps with the Hamas victory relegating him somewhat to the sidelines, Mahmoud is just now getting the time to catch up on his Jihad Watch reading.

From AP, with thanks to JE:

RAMALLAH, West Bank - Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas said in an interview published Thursday that the al-Qaida terror network has infiltrated the Gaza Strip and West Bank, which could have dire consequences for the Middle East.

Acting Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said in response Thursday that Israel was intensifying its "war" against al-Qaida.

Abbas said in an interview with the London-based Al Hayat newspaper that he had not expected al-Qaida would succeed in setting up operations in the Palestinian areas.

"We have signs of an al-Qaida presence in the West Bank and Gaza," Abbas said, without elaborating. "We haven't yet reached the stage of capturing them."

"The infiltration of al-Qaida can ruin the whole region," he added.

Priceless! Gilbert & Sullivan couldn't top this.

HA, and the region is a paradise now? Throwing dirt on a mudpile wont make much difference.

Enjoy!

OT but relevant
From newsweek, a delightful read.

The End of Toleranceis the somewhat misleading title Newsweek gives this story. But I'm hajaar heartened. If I were newsweek editor(and I'm having to think from those shoes a wee bit relating to a hoped-for research project), I'd name this piece "The Defense of freedom"..

Excerpt:
The world has long looked upon the Dutch as the very model of a modern, multicultural society. Open and liberal, the tiny seagoing nation that invented the globalized economy in the 1600s prided itself on a history of taking in all comers, be they Indonesian or Turkish, African or Chinese.
How different things look today. Dutch borders have been virtually shut. New immigration is down to a trickle. The great cosmopolitan port city of Rotterdam just published a code of conduct requiring Dutch be spoken in public. Parliament recently legislated a countrywide ban on wearing the burqa in public. And listen to a prominent Dutch establishment figure describe the new Dutch Way with immigrants. "We demand a new social contract," says Jan Wolter Wabeke, High Court Judge in The Hague. "We no longer accept that people don't learn our language, we require that they send their daughters to school, and we demand they stop bringing in young brides from the desert and locking them up in third-floor apartments."

I wonder if he's getting worried that the U.S. might start looking at his Pali rathole like its another Afghanistan? Has enough to worry about with those Sayerot Mat'kal boys causing mischief without the additional headache of SFOD-D and SEAL-6 shooters running around kicking in doors. I'd really like to see what color his hair is in a couple of months.

"We haven't yet reached the stage of capturing them."

Translation-"We haven't yet scraped together enough money to pay some patsies so's that we can throw them in jail for a few days, then release them, telling the world 'these weren't the droids we're looking for'."

"In a major shift in US policy, India will receive American nuclear know-how and fuel but won’t have to sign the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty. "

Don't worry Abbas! George-a-claus will rescue you; how about some American nuclear know-how in your stockings -- will that help in capture them?

Let's see, we could give you some American ports; a few gazillion in American money; dinner at the White House -- it all adds up Abbas.

You'll call us then? Okay we'll hold our breath but please take our offerings in the meantime as a gesture of goodwill.

Oooooooh, I forgot -- you don't celebrate Christmas anytime of the year -- dohh, there's that "C" word again.

Maybe we should just give Abbas the damn White house; then maybe if we are all good boys and girls and read our korans -- those no-good-nicks will be captured.

Yes, I think this is geramine to this article on a number of levels:

WASHINGTON – Two Americans believe they have spotted Adnan el-Shukrijumah, the al-Qaida operative identified at "the next Mohamed Atta" at a location near Bakersfield, Calif., but have been unable to get the FBI or Homeland Security to investigate.

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=49061

I can't help but think that our George invited him to the US for a damn job interview. Is that why the FBI is not interested?

Well, I think they should at least look into this and show a tiny bit of interest -- but then I'm from the old school.

Abbas is too cute for words. I'm sure A-Q has been a presence in Palestinian society for more than a few months' time, or does anyone else out there think that Zarqawi didn't have "associates" on both sides of the Jordan River, some who have been rude enough to blow up hotels in Egypt and weddings in Jordan?

Yup. Security in the "territories" has just gone all to pot because the Israelis pulled out of Gaza and Hamas won a majority in the PA in January. Nothing to do with 10 years of Fatah's administration that preceded those two events.

Abbas said in an interview with the London-based Al Hayat newspaper that he had not expected al-Qaida would succeed in setting up operations in the Palestinian areas.

D'ye see an green it the whoyt of me eye, Abu Mazen?

Tell that to another dupe. Like no one could have expected al=Qaeda's message to fall on fertile ground among the peace-loving Welfarestinians.

Darn, it, that should read: "D'ye see any green in the whoyt of me eye?"

Quote from James Joyce.

Harboring Al Qaida in Gaza? Then Bomb Gaza! Plaster that hellish sewer, that petri dish of Islamic terror and Arab hatred with blitz, bullets, and bomb blasts...

(Sorry -- in the post above I meant to write "Then Bomb the Piss out of Gaza" -- baad typing today -- worse than usual...)
