New York jail jihad update from the New York Sun, with thanks to Ruth King:
Extremist remarks made by the head imam of the city's jail system are generating alarm about whether inmates are being recruited as Islamic fundamentalists.Mayor Bloomberg announced yesterday that the city has suspended Imam Umar Abdul-Jalil of the city's Department of Correction until officials can get more information about his remarks and determine whether he violated any regulations.
"We can't prejudge but we are going to look at it this afternoon," Mr. Bloomberg told reporters yesterday. "Having said that, this morning, so that he would not go back into the jails, we put him on paid administrative leave at least for the day."
The move by the city came after the New York Post reported that Mr. Abdul-Jalil declared in a speech that the White House is run by terrorists and that Muslims were tortured in Manhattan prisons after the World Trade Center attacks.
He also reportedly urged Muslims in America to stop letting "the Zionists of the media to dictate what Islam is to us." The Investigative Project on Terrorism obtained a recording of his speech, a senior researcher with the organization, Tamar Tesler, confirmed yesterday.
The imam, who has been with the department since 1993 and has been overseeing all clergy members at the agency since 2004, could not be reached yesterday. He did, however, publicly deny that he was promoting extremist views and said his comments were taken out of context.
The director of Simon Wiesenthal's New York Tolerance Center, Mark Weitzman, said, if true, the statements are cause for worry about possible recruitment of Islamic fundamentalists in city jails.
Yep.
Extremist remarks made by the head imam of the city's jail system are generating alarm about whether inmates are being recruited as Islamic fundamentalists.
Duh, no -- that's impossible! It could never happen, not in this country anyway.
Go back to sleep, everything is under complete control ... complete control ... complete control ... comp SNIP
Hopefully American history books will someday reflect upon how allowing Islam into this country was a grave mistake that was eventually corrected.
If they don't ...then we have ceased to exist as a Western nation.
Oh noooo, things are getting out of context!
From the article,
"He also reportedly urged Muslims in America to stop letting "the Zoinist of the media to dictate what Islam is to us."
Now, I know that he's not talking about the "mainstream U.S. media" that's too cowardly to even print 12 harmless cartoons from Denmark.
This madam was caught in normal Muslim doublespeak.
Now what do you think Mohammed El Baradai says to the Iranians in closed sessions ?
And they wonder why they are looked viewed the way they are

It can be argued either way whether or not, as a custodian, the government should have religious officials in its employ.
But, if the government chooses to do so, then it is a responsibility that none of the state-sponsored religions is actually an organized crime ring.
"He did, however, publicly deny that he was promoting extremist views and said his comments were taken out of context".
In his ideology the views he expressed aren't extremist. He's just being a good little Imam preaching the Koran and vilifying the infidels.
Perhaps we should ship the moron to a turd infested tent on the Pakistani border, there he'll feel at home with his like minded throat slitter's.
Nice comment witness!
Says it all.
Prison recruitment is very huge in the Islamic dawah scene. At my college, the MSA chapter devoted resources to these activities.
However, I think that the imams should be screened in terms of not involving themselves in political manners.
If they are allowed to make contact with prisoners, they should only be allowed to speak on spiritual manners that are not laden with political content. Allow them to only offer a sanitized version of Islam, one that is filtered by the censors.
However, I think that the imams should be screened in terms of not involving themselves in political manners.
How can he do that? After all, Islam is not a religion, it's a political ideology, and a predatory one.
So, if he's non-political then he's not a Moslem. And, if he's not a Moslem then he can't be an Imam.
"He did, however, publicly deny that he was promoting extremist views and said his comments were taken out of context."
Of course all non muslims are stupid, jump to conclusions and do not understand the esoterics that the most high and unasailable religion of Islam profers to those who believe.
It's about time the lies, smarmy platitudes, indignant afronts, intimidation, crying racist, rape, murder and all the other evil acts perpetrated by the Islamists where rammed back down people like
Abdul-Jalil's throats with the words....
your time is up, now get out.
Hear, hear, Martel360. By allowing the criminal enterprise called Islam (or, Surrender in 7th century Arabic) into into our jails, the government is promoting violence against innocents. To wit:
Killing disbelievers is a small matter to us.
--- Tabari IX:69
Allahu is all about me and you. This is why I keep a copy of the Noble Koran at my toilet, where it belongs.
He did, however, publicly deny that he was promoting extremist views and said his comments were taken out of context.
Sure, he was taken "out of context." Is there an extremist or liar who hasn't been.
When, O when, will we get an honest statement that isn't served up with a pile of warm, steaming, stinking 'taqiya'? Couldn't I at least get to choose what flavor mine is?
"We can't prejudge..."
I suggest we might just want to start when it comes to Muslims. Perhaps our better selves are preventing us from understanding how deep this Muslim cesspool in our midst actually is... And what about this filth stained Imam's acolytes and fellow Imams? What about them? Apparently not a peep from them... no signal to the rest of us that something was amiss with this hate spewing Muslim bigot, as usual...
For our very lives and continued survival we must somehow bend our noble and precious forebearance, our well developed pluralistic inclusive desire to refrain from resorting to the basest instincts and prejudices...
We MUST begin prejudging Muslims! We must begin to make the assumption that they might be our enemy until they are sufficiently proven not to be. And the onus must be largely upon them to prove that they are not our enemy. We owe them nothing at this point... It is they who owe us.
It must be the easiest thing in the world to for Moslems to recruit from the prison population:
1) They can tell the inmates that they themselves are victims at the hands of an unsanctioned, illegitimate (i.e. non-Sharia) legal system
2) They can tell the inmates that they need not reform, they need not learn to control their appetite for violence or lack of respect for the property of others. They only need to redirect it to those outside the Ummah. For the time being, this provides a large hunting ground
3) They can further assure the inmates that they have friends on the outside, waiting to help them when they get out.
In short, it's just like organized crime, only it's recognized as a religion. No wonder the imams are working the prisons to such benefit for their cause. This is a rat hole that needs to be stopped up.
islam Has more in common with ringworm than a crime ring.

Hmmmm ... Yes. And, in the mean time, deport all of them.
Yep Yep - Yep Yep Yep!
Terrorist the extremists - follow them with a tape recorder.
Your secret is safe with me!
Sorry
Terrorize the extremists - follow them with a tape recorder!
Asylum Inmate; My opinion, unfavorably. I know there are good muslims out there, but again, unfavorably.

Hello? Time to wake up. And in NYC too boot.
Send him to Iraq and hang him.

Reminds me of the O.J. Simpson trial, where O.J. was heard by a prison guard shouting "I did it! I killed my wife!" while Rosie Grier was visiting him in prison. The Dream Team explained to the judge that the guard didn't hear the words that O.J. whispered just before that, that put it in context: "I can't believe they think...."
I still get a kick out of that one. Thanks, Johnny Cochran, you were a credit to your profession.
"and his comments were taken out of context" I'm about 5 foot 5, 118 pounds and a proportional ass. Oh wait, my ass might be taken out of context.
As far as I am concerned we would be much better off putting the Seventh Day Adventists, or the Mormons, in control of the jails, and I am a Lutheran.
Well said, jsla.
OF COURSE his remarks were taken out of context: The context in which we infidels exist only to be robbed, raped, and slaughtered.
Too many Muslims are morally indistinguishable from Klansmen...and should be treated as such.
"Too many Muslims are morally indistinguishable from Klansmen...and should be treated as such."
We tried dressing one like a Klansman in Abu Ghraib, and the world howled. Terrorists are people too!
