Mr. President, instead of unilateral displays of trust, why not try a course of specific accountability? Make very clear what behaviors the U.S. will not consider friendly: the teaching of the jihad ideology and Islamic supremacism; the oppression of non-Muslims; the denial of basic human rights such as freedom of conscience. Offer aid from the U.S. to countries that take concrete steps against these evils.
Right now, in contrast, next door to the UAE is one of the world's chief financiers of the global jihad, and it is a friend and ally of the United States. Yet it is the U.S. that needs to show Islamic nations that we will treat them fairly?
He is obviously worried about his post presidential employment possibilities as his father has monopolised the Saudi ones already.
He might be on the right side but I have seen him as an advantage to the real cause.

As far as I am concerned, Bush and his daddy should be deported to Dubai -- along with Hillary & hubby,Gore, Kerry, Albright, Rush, Dole, and all the rest that support pushed this thing on behalf of UAE -- including memebers of Congress.
I'll carry it one step further -- let them all go on a one-way flight on 747 piloted by their pal Zacarias Moussaoui.
Let them all live out their lives in splendor in their Dubai oasis while we get AMERICANS who care about America and act in the interests of this country and its people; instead of the cronies in foreign dictatorships.

Bush should be emphasizing the poor procedure of this deal that left him high and dry, and looking not only uninformed [read: uninterested] but weak.
Not his take on the supposed "anti-Arab" sentiment of the great-unwashed in America. (Suspicion of potential terrorists is not irrational until proved otherwise.- popular notion, post 9/11.)
Let the UAE recognize Israel before we fast-track any port deals with such "racists".
The lessons to be learned, Bush seems intent on missing:
Do these security-related business reviews openly, -or get a face full of political buckshot.
The tin-ears and the tin-horns seem to be growing together.
And somebody tell the President when our ports come up for sale to a foreign government. Particularly during "The Long War" [formerly known as 'the war on terrorism']. It might be useful for him to know, as Commander In Chief.
Blaming anyone is a bad strategy in failed deals.
Blaming his own people is especially cheezy.
Why not be constructive with the rubble?

Bush has done this to himself. He touts security, while leaving our borders open to an economic invasion from the south. He calls the alarmed citizens who attempt to stem the flow "vigilantes" (similar to his attacks on people who are concerned about port security). IF he had dealt with the border problem, his credibility on the port issue would have been much greater.

President Bush, you have failed Americans across American. You primary Constitutional obligation is to protect America and Americans from threats inside and outside of America and you continue to fail to do this.

The Dubai port deal was a threat to America and Americans and Congress was informed of this by a factor of 8 to 1 by Americans.

But should that be a reason to not finally demand accountability and honesty from Islamic nations? And that they accept our values in order to receive preferential treatment? If the issue involves the possibility of a security issue, I'd be just as concerned about the operation of U.S. shipping terminals by non-Arab Muslim countries as I would be by DPW.
If "portgate" had involved a company based in Afghanistan, would the administration have supported that, too? After all, they're allegedly one of our staunchest allies in this poorly named 'war on terror'.

This "human" is interesting. Stateing instead of doing. And what are we suposed to do? Stop watching ABC? "Carry out the demmands of the muslims"? I already do not watch ABC, CBS, NBC, etc, so how am I doing?
It really matters little what we do, Islam only knows attack and will do so as it wishes. Doing so will provide the jolt we need. That should be their concern at this time.

The UAE is a group that has a common interest with the U.S., as such we should proceed with them on those lines. The ports did not need to be in their hands to move forward with them. Having a goal in common with the UAE is different than calling them a ally.
In WW2, the Russians had a common interest in the destruction of the nazi, but they were not considered a ally. We worked togeather to reach that goal, much as we should with the UAE.
