Counter-terror experts 'take off kid gloves'

I haven't worn my kid gloves for, I don't know -- weeks. From WND, with thanks to all who sent this in:

Take off the kid gloves and wage all-out war against radical Islam at home and abroad. That's the message organizers of a symposium on terrorism plan to give the U.S. and its leaders through an all-star roster of speakers.

"It's time for all concerned Americans to wake-up, roll up their sleeves and take a stand - talking and disseminating e-mails is not enough," said Jeff Epstein, president of America's Truth Forum and organizer of the one-day event.

Scheduled for April 29 in Arlington, Va., the symposium will feature globally recognized journalists, academicians and counter-terrorism experts "to inform the public of the reality of the threat of radical Islam to every man, woman and child within the United States."

"This evil must be crushed decisively in all of its manifestations throughout the world, including mosques and Islamic centers within the United States," the promoters say.

The organizers say the event is timely, "with increased anxiety over demands for a pullout from Iraq, the nuclear developments in Iran and North Korea, the failure of our government to secure the borders and our country's fledgling, incomprehensive effort at homeland security."

Epstein believes the majority of Americans disapprove of both the "cut-and-run policy" proposed by many leading Democrats and the "compassionate conservative" approach of the Bush administration, favoring instead a "firm and decisive military action with no apologies to Russia, China, France, Germany, Saudi Arabia or the United Nations."

"I am convinced that the threat we are currently facing from radical Islam greatly surpasses that which was posed by the Third Reich," Epstein said.

Epstein said anyone interested in attending should contact America's Truth Forum at the website or by calling 866-709-3474.

The event offers the following speakers:

James Woolsey, who previously held presidential appointments in two Democratic and two Republican administrations, served as the director of the Central Intelligence Agency from 1993 to 1995.

Kenneth Timmerman, author of "Countdown to Crisis: the Coming Nuclear Showdown with Iran," has been nominated for the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize.

Daniel Pipes, director of the Middle East Forum and a prize-winning columnist for the New York Sun and The Jerusalem Post. Pipes was one of the few analysts who warned of the threat of radical Islam to the U.S. before 9-11, writing in 1995, "war has been unilaterally declared on Europe and the United States." The Boston Globe stated, "If Pipes's admonitions had been heeded, there might never have been a 9-11."

Robert Spencer, director of the weblog Jihad Watch, is an author and researcher who has studied Islam for more than 20 years. His book "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (And The Crusades)" spent four months on the New York Times best-seller list. Spencer is an adjunct fellow with the Free Congress Foundation and has written a selection of critically acclaimed books on Islam. He has appeared on CNN and Fox News and has been heard on Vatican Radio.

David Horowitz, president of the Center for the Study of Popular Culture is the author of "Unholy Alliance," which contends America's Left is giving aid and comfort to its enemies in the terror war, and "The Professors: The 101 Most Dangerous Academics in America."

Richard Miniter, author of two New York Times best-selling books, "Losing Bin Laden" and "Shadow War," and an internationally recognized expert on terrorism.

Walid Phares, professor of Middle East Studies, Ethnic and Religious Conflict at Florida Atlantic University and an expert on terrorism and jihadism.

Whalid Shoebat, a former Palestinian Liberation Organization terrorist, converted to [Christianity] and now warns of the imminent threat of radical Islam to Western civilization.

Harvey Kushner, noted author, lecturer, professor and internationally recognized authority on terrorism. Kushner has advised and provided training to numerous agencies, including the FBI, FAA, INS and U.S. Customs. He is a frequent guest of all major television networks and often is quoted by news media worldwide....

Bruce Tefft, founding member of the CIA's Counter Terrorism Center, has trained more than 12,000 law enforcement officers and first responders and has served as the New York Police Department's counter-terrorism and intelligence adviser since 9-11.

Brigitte Gabriel, a former anchor for world news in the Middle East and a prominent Arab-American journalist, survived a bombing in which her family's home was reduced to rubble by radical Muslim forces.

Laura Mansfield, an author and counter-terror analyst, uses her knowledge of the Arabic language and Islamic culture to investigate jihad and jihadis in the U.S. and abroad.

Joe Kaufman, chairman of Americans Against Hate. He also is an investigative journalist for Frontpage Magazine and host of "The Politics of Terrorism" radio show.

Paul Williams, award-winning journalist and author of "Al Qaeda Connection," "Osama's Revenge: The Next 9/11," and the forthcoming book, "The Dunces of Doomsday," has served as a consultant for the FBI, editor, adjunct professor of humanities at the University of Scranton and correspondent for WorldNetDaily.

Close but not close enough, they are still afflicted by the specter of PCism when are they going to understand radical Islam is just Islam.

Call it out for what it is, unless they can do that we will never sort this thing out!

This sounds like a great conference. I hope you can get it on C Span as I would love to see it. The phrase "radical Islam" that Mr Epstein uses though is somewhat outdated, and indicates part of the PC problem. What exactly is the difference between radical Islam and regular old Islam?

Perhaps it would make more sense to use the phrase "militant Islam" instead, as militant islamists are those who have actually acted on or actually carried out the underlying ideology of Islam, while the rest of the Mohammedans have not.

We wish to express our thanks to these individuals for their courage in standing up for America and Americans against the violence and terror of Islam. Thank God for giving us such brave Patriots.

Freedom, the only choice.

Good stuff.

Will there be any discussion on how to reduce the influence of Middle Eastern lobbyists in Congress and the Administration?

Will there be any discussion of certain ex-Presidents acting as shills for Middle Eastern interests?

Will there be any discussion of the influence of foreign investment in the editorial position of Western media outlets?

This evil must be crushed decisively in all of its manifestations throughout the world, including mosques and Islamic centers within the United States

Muslims are not shy to tell us what they believe American society should devolve to. They publish this information everywhere, including the webservers of our great universities, such as the University of Southern California.

Muslims in this country tell us that our very system of government, where the powers of government derive from the consent of the governed, in itself is repugnant to Islam and can not co-exist.

Now for a shameless act of self-promotion. I posted this earlier today in response to a poster who thought we are nothing but hate. It is not hate to defend the freedoms that we love and cherish as inalienable rights of man.

Great Idea, especially the part where you tell everyone where and when all the "experts" will be located. Couldn't you geniuses have held the conference and then advertised it? I do support the idea and message just question the presentation.

Oops sorry about the double post, evil jihadi media types must be at work.

It's happening Reg!

Uh, Ronin, I'm no expert, but how exactly does one go about getting people to attend a conference if it remains a secret until after it has taken place?

Kind of like the Dubai ports deal.

Lol Mr Spencer, what I should have suggested was to invite the experts in private correspondence and afterwards post the results. Explaining the purpose and location in advance would make me a little nervous but I’m not the security consultant. At any rate, it is about time. Good luck and I will look forward to reading about what the new strategies will be and who will implement them.

Wow! What a great symposium!!

I wish Frank Gaffney (Center for Security Policy)was also invited. He spoke at my school recently and he was excellent.

You should have seen his eyes light up when I asked him about the the reluctance of the media and politicians to discuss the danger of the non-violent Islamist wing that promotes sharia throughout the world.

Also, I hope SOMEONE at the symposium (hint hint) discusses the passage Mr Spencer quoted to CAIR the other day, in reference to "Moderate" vs "Radical" Islam.

"If anyone changes his religion, kill him" (cf. Bukhari vol. 9, bk. 84, no. 57).

Ronin,

With respect I think it is giving in to keep it a secret, and totally Un-American. We should be bold and proud to say whay we are saying.

We cannot allow the threat of the Islamists chill our discussions, and make us afraid to advertise them.

In regard to the above quote, does this apply to women also? A reporter discussing the man in Afghanistan said the leaving islam resulting in death only applies to men. Is this correct?
Of course the women are then 'honor' murdered.

Congratulations, Mr. Spencer! This is exactly what we need. It looks like an all-star line-up. I wish I wasn't in Europe on this crappy internet connection so I could watch a webcast or something like that.

We need more and more of this, it seems like people are finally coming around to REALITY. I hope you really bowl everyone over and I hope the entire line-up leaves an impression on the audience and it gets a lot of good media play because people need to know about this so that less people need die before we confront this threat for what it is.

Good luck! Let us hear about how it went afterwards, I am sure you will post about it.

Do you believe that the media will report on this very important symposium? I hope they will, but I am not counting on it.

Inform the public of the reality of the threat of radical Islam to every man, woman and child within the United States.>

Km - you said it. There is just islam.

There are no extremist or moderate muslims as there is no extremist or moderate islam. Islam is the koran, hadith and sira, and they are not pacifist but extremely violent in thought and advocacy. Moderate muslims or ones of the Taleban type, are of the same opinion - Abdul Rahman is to be put to death for becoming a Christian. The only doctrinal difference is that moderates want to hang or behead him, and the extremists want to tear him limb from limb.

"I am convinced that the threat we are currently facing from radical Islam greatly surpasses that which was posed by the Third Reich," Epstein said.

We at JW/DW have known this since 9/11. The threat is great not because Islam is a might military power as Germany or Japan were as outside powers, but by allowing muslims to settle in the West and giving all the privelages that only loyal citizens are entitled to. It is this that has immeasurably magnified the power of muslims to wage a war of attrition on civilisation, an asseet that neither Germany or Japan had, and with little or no cost to "their" side.

Good gravy! That roster looks impressive. I'm particularly heartened by the presence of James Woolsey, who is more "mainstream" than most of the others, yet seems to show signs of having a mind open enough to get with the program. He could serve as a useful bridge.

Television,

Woolsey is Co-founder of the Committee on the Present Danger. He is good...although he hasnt fully come around to the fact that "extremism" in Islam is at the roots of Islam itself.

Trupolitik,, without making a list of my concerns which might serve to give certain groups ideas. My concerns are not limited to just followers of old mo. Several groups could use this as an excuse to misbehave in an attempt to push their own PC agendas. I was thinking the conference attendees could get more work done without any potential distractions. Forgive me my paranoia.

It,s great to see a slow movment of people waking up to the evil known as islam but the left wing morons won,t wake up until the facists are in our parliments attempting to enforce Islam and by that point it will take a lot of bloodshed to beat them back.

Kudos for the conference.

Timely and vital if we are going to win. There is no choice.

If ever clarity and courage were needed, it is now.

l think the one main lesson l have learned on this site is that the so called extreme islam is not really extreme, but all actions taken by these so called radicals are actually taken right from the Koran. there is no real "moderate Muslim", those that want to change are called aposates, and labelled to be killed by the other muslims. only those who have rejected islam are the real moderates, as most normal people in the west would reject the teachings of the koran. Democracy cannot exist with islam, that is why in the long run islam will lose out in the end. Truth will uncover the koran as an evil cult.

I am glad that 4 1/2 years after 9/11, people are FINALLY starting to stand up to the threat that has been staring us in the face for years. Islam has taken full advantage of America's willingness to accomodate other cultures. I think it is time we realized that these people have abused our country's hospitality, we tone down the PC and stand up to this very real problem that threatens our freedom. If we back down and let thier threats scare us out of our freedom of speech, then we are giving up the very freedoms all our fathers fought and died for!

A major battle is forming next week as the senate is going over imigration reform. Key battles over bills of Frisk, McCain-Kennedy, and Specter bills.

Bottom line, take the bill the house passed, allowing about 10 million into the country in the next 10 years. Or, support the others that will probally allow up to 30 million in the next ten years. Senete bills argue allowing those here already to become citizens.

H. Clinton came out against the house bill as "too restrictive"

This is the front line battle next week.

Read about it at www.numbersusa.com

"This evil must be crushed decisively in all of its manifestations throughout the world, including mosques and Islamic centers within the United States," the promoters say.
--from the article

This is rather silly. "Radical" Islam does not need to be crushed, it just needs to be expelled, isolated, and demoralized. We don't need to raze every mosque here and abroad, because that is what we would have to do if we wanted to destroy "radical" Islam. How can Epstein tell the difference between a radical and a moderate mosque anyways? They all teach to spread the political power of Islam in the dar-al-harb and to hate the infidels. Every single mosque inculcates hostility towards non-Muslims. It may not happen every Friday khutba, but it happens often enough. The simple fact is that America and Europe by extension wouldn't have to fight all of these wars or pay all of this jizya to these Muslim countries if they just expelled their Muslim immigrants and made Islam harder to practice in the West. We don't need to empower "moderate" Muslims or support separatist movements in Muslim countries (they could help in some cases but they could also backfire). All we need to do is recognize Islam as the threat it is to our society and make it crystal clear to the Muslims that we are on to their double game and that their nonsense will not be tolerated. They are triumphant because they sense our weakness.

Tancredo sounds like the real thing. Except for the part where he talks about Unicorns and all. Could there actually be an express anti-Dhimmi politician in America? Is that legal? What does Barb Bush have to say about this troublemaker Tancredo?

I'll bet you a dollar to a doughnut he posts in here. Hmmm. Which of one of you...

Bravo Mr Spencer, what an amazing group of experts and scholars!

I have read and admired all their work.

I hope that you have a great impact on the policy makers.

We will meed this combined braintrust to help guide us through the difficult years ahead, all the way to victory.

Nothing less them the future of our children and grandchildren is at stake.

We will meed this combined braintrust to help guide us through the difficult years ahead, all the way to victory.

El Cid, you have dragged the practice of alarmed cynicism down to a level that makes even me blush with embarrassment. Thank you for letting me enjoy this inspiring moment.

This essay by J.R. Dunn, editor of the International Military Encyclopedia for twelve years, is interesting.

There is a lot of informed comment on the domestic threat from a military perspective. At the culmination he turns from technical survey to a rather moving statement of principle. To foreign ears he perhaps rather overdoes American Exceptionalism, but I think his expression of confidence in the basic decency of America's people is very much needful for the times:

When men start out with vicious tactics – the car bomb, the suicide bomb, the airliner as missile – a door closes behind them, locking them away from all other possibilities. That was a lesson the Anarchists, the historical group most similar to the Jihadis, learned in their time. Though they began in the 1880s challenging the kings and emperors of Europe, they ended up forty years later murdering payroll messengers in Massachusetts and secretaries and errand boys on Wall Street, only a few steps away from the scene of 9/11.

We are not as they are, and we never shall be. We are the people who go out to see what’s the matter when we hear sobbing in the darkness. This leads to much in the way of pain and trouble, but also to a share of glory that is ours alone because no one else, no empire or nation down the long ages, has ever quite done things the way we do them.

Sorry for the misspelled word.

Alarmed Pig Farmer, alarmed yes, a cynic no, I believe that we will win this, although there isn't anything certain in Life.

Sometimes I am a bit more alarmed then usual, I am just an average man, going on in years now, who realizes that he may not see the conclusion of this in what remains of his life.

I am not a scholar, or an expert as the many brave people of the ant-jihadi vanguard are, and it heartens me to see that a conference of this kind will take place. I see it as progress, as taking one more step towards defeating this totalitarian ideology disguised as a religion.

If I am alarmed. it's because , I wonder what kind of world my grandchildren will live in, My father ranted and raved about the dangers of a man called Stalin, whose heart was as cold as steal. I'm sure he wonder too, about his children's future.

Ah, a simpler time, and a simpler enemy, easier to spot and not hiding his threats in the cover of night.

APF, I am simple man, I don't have the benefit of the scholarly knowledge of the distinguished representatives in this coming conference, but I know enough to see that Jihad, Da'wa and Dihimmitude are evils that will not die easily,

I grew up hearing the stories of El Cid from my grandfather, they were romantic and chivalrous and dealt with a subject (reconquista) thought long dead. As Osama boasts of his eventual re-conquest of (Al Andalus) for Islam and Madrid was attacked on March 11, one must conclude that El Cid's struggle can not be relegated to the dustbin of history.

After 911, which I saw frist hand, El Cid's adventures have taken on new light.

"El Cid had a humble personality and frequently accepted or included suggestions from his troops. He remained open to input from his soldiers and to the possibility that he himself was capable of error."

"During his campaigns, El Cid often ordered that books by classic Roman and Greek authors on military themes be read in loud voices to him and his troops, both for entertainment and inspiration during battle. El Cid's army had a novel approach to planning strategy as well, holding what might be called brainstorming sessions before each battle to discuss tactics."

Brainstorming in the face of a determined enemy, I hope that this happens soon.

Please invite key people from European countries and other parts of the world

I will be attending this symposium. I sent in my reservations for both the party and the lectures weeks ago.

I'll be wearing a blue scarf!

Well I will be shopping for a new outfit for this great event.

Thanks to Jeff for all his hard work!!

Mr. Spencer: Looks like a great conference. I might even be tempted to attend.

Re: favorable press coverage.

I would suggest that the organizers make available a "limited" number of reduced price press tickets. Invite applications from friendly members of the press, and/or Vet the applicants attracted by advertising. A press release on the event could include info on the availability of such passes as a final cuttable paragraph, and would attract the attention of interested reporters and their editors and producers.

Provide press kits to attendees in advance, with book excerpts, advance quotations from the speeches to be given, and promises of opportunities for interviews with the speakers and some of the attendees (if you know of some interesting folks who will definitely consent, which folks can be invited/recruited/planted for the purpose).

Without friendly press people inside, the only stories to hit the news will be stories of the protestors (muslim and otherwise) that will be hanging around outside and providing lots of photo opportunities. You must get the press inside, where they can do you some good, and leave out those that will inevitably do you harm.

Promise the press a few exclusive interviews, set up a media room with internet connections, and stock it with coffee, soft drinks, and the usual cookies and pastries. Keep the press happy and have "handlers" to feed them stories along with doughnuts.

Just a thought or two.

Best wishes. Hope to see you there.
