I'm not sure why this is news now, since as far back as December the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Louise Arbour, was poking into the controversy. "Danish Muslims sue over Muhammad cartoons," from the TimesOnline, with thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist:
Danish Muslim groups are to report Denmark to the UN Commissioner on Human Rights for failing to prosecute the newspaper that first published controversial cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad. The 27 Muslim groups also plan to sue the newspaper, Jyllands-Posten, for defamation in a Danish court, according to their lawyer, Michael Christiani Havemann.
"Denmark is obliged through the UN to secure the civil rights of its citizens," Havemann said by telephone. "The national prosecutor won’t pursue the case and, therefore, acts as a barrier to justice to the complainants."
In a related article, hat tip Michelle Malkin, Pakistan is seeking a worldwide ban on websites. And the UN should get control of the root servers?
The UN Commissioner for Human rights should not be woken up. He is too tired from his waking hours of denying that islamic nations have NO human rights.
God forbid that he have to look at a cartoon. This cartoon stuff is serious work. This was what the UN was created for, that is the sum of his life, the reason he went to college. I mean come on he needs more important stuff like the cartoon, instead of dealing with people dying with no rights in muslim countries.
"how it could prevent access to such objectionable material on the internet worldwide"
Now this is truly chilling. Anti-Dhimmitude thrives to a large extent because of the global free exchange of information on the internet. If muslims gain control of the web, then things really starts to look gloomy....
Intellectual terrorism
What is meant by that statement? Is it that muslims are being intellectually challenged by the kuffir? Is it that being bombed with knowldege, thought and concepts that are not contained in the one little book that contains all one needs to know for all time will cause fear and panic leading to a complete breakdown of the societal order?
Now let's be fair -- If we're allowing our citizens to sue Arab nations and Muslim rulers for funding and sponsoring head choppings, the flying of planes into buildings, burnings, bombings, and bombardments of our citizenry, shouldn't we allow Arabs and Muslims to sue us for publishing a bunch of cartoons?
For of you who are upset at this I ask: "Where is your sense of proportion and fairness?"
Geez -- no wonder the Arabs are always so upset with us -- no wonder they are filled with such venom and hatred for the West -- they're truly treated like 2nd class citizens in this white man's world.
The UN controlling the internet? Oh no. This is black helicopter paranoia. I haven't read the link above, but no one in their right mind could envisage the US going along with that.
I see the pathetic fight over the responsibility for the Jyllands-Posten cartoons as primarily being about trying to discourage others from doing the same thing, and probably also as jihad - the Mohammedan must do everything he can to rectify the perceived blasphemy, or else he will have something to answer for before The Man on Judgement Day. If a lower court throws out their case, it must be appealed, all the way 'up' to the UN.
Nothing will ever put a stop to the Satanic Cartoons that circulate on the internet. On the contrary, pressure leads to counterpressure. People who otherwise would never have bothered fire up Photoshop and let their creativity flow. By far the best work I have seen are the Mo (peace from him) pictures on the Dutch retecool.com site. Truly inspired stuff.
anti-uffe
I won't clog this thread with OT text, but read this story, just one of many that appeared this past October and November. The UN control is more than just black helicopter paranoia, it is a very real and intentional power grab. The UN and the EU both see the free flow of data on the Internet as vast wealth to be taxed to death, and countries like China, Iran, and Pakistan know that controlling root serves can shut down "offensive" websites worldwide, so that their censorship becomes extra-territorial.
Mr. Havemann must not have knowledge of the legal system in Denmark, or have other motives. Once the diector of the public prosecutor have ruled that no Danish law have been broken, it's final and unappealable. Jyllands-Posten will not now or ever be put on trial in this matter, whether Mr. Havemann and the muslim plaintiffs take the issue to ECHR or UNHRC or any other international body!
There's no need for them to go to the UN, the UN has already agreed with them...
According to Jyllands-Posten, UN special raporteur regarding modern forms of racism, racialdiscrimination, xenophobia and intolerance, Mr. Doudou Diene, critizes the Danish government for refusing to take an official stand on the cartoons and for breaching/violating 3 paragraphs of the international treaty on civil and political rights...
The UN, along with the EU, can henceforth kiss my hiney.
Ofcourse, Doudou Diene is most likely a muslim himself, since he's from a muslim country, Senegal. Makes sense he'd be pissed about the cartoons.
What would make sense is for mohammadans to stop
using the net. Just break off all connections, declare that any access is illegal, etc., etc.
I'm waiting for the next shot to be fired by us.
Who will draw the next big motoon? How about a
cartoon from those South Park guys, with perv
Mo molesting Ayesha. Yes, that's disgusting, but
I'm talking South Park. Scientologists are an
easy target, aim for the 'Mo.
Will the public prosecutor in Denmark bring charges against these "Danish" Muslims for sedition? Will they be permitted to remain in Denmark, or expelled? If permitted to remain, on what theory, on what grounds?
There have been stories about bringing charges on the some of the imams, but I don't think anybody will make such a charge unless they're pretty sure it will hold water, as a failed charge could seem like a vindication of the imams. The reason for them to remain would be that they have become Danish citizens and Danes doesn't expell Danes even though they are contemptible! (almost as important a principle as the freedom rights!)
But even if they are permitted to stay they will be actively frozen out of any official policy making and countered in other ways... and thus hopefully being relegated into irrelevance.
I meant to add, that the Public Prosecutor doesn't usually bring up charges on his own, somebody have to file charges before he will evaluate whether or not there is a case to be presented in the court of law!
I like the part about the cartoons being "Intellectual Terrorism", I wish they would switch to that tactic. It would then be a matter of better arguments, and as we see here at DW and at JW, our arguments are better. We win!
Why is the UN wasting it's time with cartoons while people are being slaughtered in Sudan??
Quite simply, the UN with it's supposedly loftly ideals is not interested in justice and peace, just another organization attempting to grab more and more power.
Mr. Havemann's legal practicing license should be revoked for 'mal-practice' and expelled from Denmark for 'treason'.
Man, that's like one of my kids having a little temper dance and then wanting me to hear them out after the damage was done.
My response is always that if they want to discuss something which they feel has put them in the wrong, they can do so in a civilized manner.
What these Mohammedans need is a good kick up the arse. Where's Father Ted when you need him?
My take is that they are going with the momentum and moving full speed ahead, not stopping for anything until they have conquered the world.
What are we going to do about it?

On the grounds that if sent back to their home countries that they will be tortured. Oh and in the name of Third Worldism, multiculturalism, tolerance, dialogue, recompense for the Crusades, blah blah blah.
