Meshaal says Hamas won't change. Munem says it may. Before the learned analysts start talking on the networks about a rift within Hamas, let me caution them to look carefully at the first sentence of this AP article -- especially the part I have highlighted:
MOSCOW (AP) - The Palestinian ambassador to Russia said Thursday that Hamas might reconsider its stance toward Israel in order to advance the interests of the Palestinian people, a Russian news agency reported.Hamas "ties the question of recognizing Israel as a state with the necessity to end the occupation of the Palestinian territories," Ambassador Bakir Abdel Munem was quoted as saying in an interview with ITAR-Tass news agency. "At the same time, I think that Hamas may revise its stance in the interests of the entire Palestinian people."
Bridge for sale! Bridge for sale!
Yeah, and monkeys might fly out of my American butt!!!
"Views" or the religiously-sanctioned dissimulation of those "views" for a wilfully inattentive, ignorant, and gullible Western world -- choose one.
If it were ever necessary, hamas can easily explain, to their own constituency, this supposed change in position by the following:
Point to the (ridiculous) prior iranian suggestions that countries in Europe donate land to form "Israel", while the whole Land of Israel is handed over to islam. Such a fantasy might allow the muslims to "recognize" an "Israel", while islamising "palestine", as they say, "from the river to the sea".
Thus they would not even change their essential opposition to Israel in the Land of Israel.
It will be interesting to see which commentators in the media (e.g. idiots of the ilk of Thomas Friedman) swallow this crap from hamas.
Alchemists also claimed lead could be transmuted into gold... if you gave them a lot of gold.
Just keep building more predator drones.
And fit the Hellfire missiles with a porkfat-tipped nosecone ahead of the explosive charge.
Robert --
I suspect you have been reading "Caps for Sale."
And no doubt the Palestinian envoy to Russia will have the same benefit of instructions and moral support from his hosts that his late leader Y. Arafat could always rely upon.
Make sure you look behind their backs, they might be crossing their fingers ! Make them read their Articles of incorporation and have them amend thier views, then we can talk !

Hammas is learning real fast, from their old terrorist daddy "afrafat" tell them one thing, and do another! that way you keep getting money..and blame the killings you just had to do on the Jews! oh and l thought Hammas were honest terrorists!
Sounds like the beginnings of a 7-year peace treaty negotiated by Russia that will last three and a half years.
