BRUSSELS - The European Union on Monday said it was time for an end to "bitterness" between Europe and Islamic countries over the publication of caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed."We must concentrate on the next steps and future activities to reduce tensions and become more aware of what unites us rather than what divides us," Austrian Foreign Minister Ursula Plassnik told reporters.
Both sides must make a "real effort to put some of the bitterness behind us," Plassnik underlined. Austria is current president of the 25-nation EU.
Diplomats said a statement on the issue released by EU foreign ministers was the result of a compromise between governments like
Britain which wanted more conciliatory language towards Muslim countries and others, including the Netherlands, which insisted the bloc must not be seen to be apologising on the issue.The final statement voiced "deep concern at the events that followed the publication of cartoons" and said EU governments "acknowledged and regretted" that the caricatures were considered offensive and distressing by Muslims across the world.
German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said the 25-nation bloc strongly supported freedom of the press and the freedom of expression but added: "We regret that other people's religious feelings have been hurt."

There isn't anything that will unite humanity with Islamofeces and there never will be!!! Are they that totally removed from the knowledge of true Islam? Please, I hope not. The recent events in Islamofecesland should more than let them know that You can not negotiate with barbarians. They have not respect for no other point of view than their own. But yet the EU politicos aren't showing any kind of resolve in respect to their own sovreignty and rule of law. The Austrian Presidency should be telling the Muslims, if they're expecting respect for the false peodiphile prophet in Europe, they're going to be sorrily disappointed. And that they should go back to Islamofecesland if they want their demands met.
These Muslims must be made to realize that not all of us feel the same way about the false pedophile prophet that they do. And that we in the west have our own set of laws that we live by. Our own way of life. Our own God that we worship. And that we have the same resolve about our freedoms that they have in trying to take them away from us to enforce sharia law. This is a sad commentary on the state of the EU. The issue now isn't if but when and who will the first European country to impose Islamic law. Maybe the EU itself will impose it on all.
Those of you (and I know there are many) in Europe who value freedom better get ready to fight. And we in the US need to start supporting them every way we can and get ready, because we're next.

I've sent this particular blog to a friend who is a diplomat in Brussels so that he can get a good feel for responses especially on this site. There is no way we Irish are going to allow foreign domination again. Maybe some of us can knock some sense into their heads before they wind up being removed by those they are trying to appease.

Europe is going to be a real problem for the non-dhimmi world. I grew up in europe as a member of an American expatriot family and now, as an international airline pilot I spend a great part of my life swimming in the cultural waters of the EU. A former europhile, I now pass judgement on a hedonistic, culturally and morally degenerate civilization which seems determined to embrace its own extermination at the hands of its primitive muslim tormentors. Besides, on a geopolitical and cultural level, the pusillanimous twerps seem to either forsake or hate almost everything free men hold dear.
European contempt for the United States, manifest in virtually every expression of popular and media opinion, disgusts me and tempts me to dismiss them to their inevitable fate without so much as a second thought. Then I think of my children.
The children of todays pathetic, cowardly european dhimmi population (however few they may be) will be at the throats of my children.
