New Delhi - Police found a cache of explosives Saturday at a railway station in Mumbai, India's financial hub, four days after a series of deadly blasts in a holy Hindu city blamed on Islamic militants.Officers discovered explosives and components for making an explosive device inside a bag on a commuter railway station platform in central Mumbai, said city police commissioner AN Roy.
"Some explosives and some parts which can be used for making an IED (improvised explosive device) have been found at Byculla railway station on top of a toilet block," said Roy.
"It contains about two kilogrammes of explosive."
He said the explosives were found during a security sweep that was put in place after 23 people died Tuesday in three blasts in the northern holy Hindu city of Varanasi, two at a railway station and one at a crowded temple...

And what does Indian government do? Nothing.

I disagree. A lot of what the intell guys do is never public. India watchers now expect renewed trouble for pakistan in their rebellious Balochistan province as payback and a warning to Pak sponsored jihad in India.

Fair enough. Why is it the world's problem? India is 'soft' state but its law enforcement is true to 3rd world methods - beatings in custody, mysterious 'encounters with terrorists/gangsters' etc leave jihadis dead in the 'crossfire', the hangman's noose awaits at the end of a reasonably impartial judicial process etc. A jihadi captured in Delhi will go through a LOT more pain than one caught in Brussles or in Baltimore. And maybe thats not such a bad thing.
Its time the Indian Government wakes up and control these elements with iron fists.

.....But alas, secular India, does not want to see or hear any evil, even when it manifests itself loud and clear, as in Varanasi. Cartoon bombs do not go off, but live bombs do! Which is worse? And, are blasts in temples thronged by devotees during auspicious days and hours, less blasphemous? The cartoons may have hurt feelings, but the bombs killed and maimed scores. And Varnasi is as holy to Hindus as Mecca is to Muslims. The sight of blood and gore of the victims on the temple Praharas and the teeming security men in places of worship were all grim reminders of where secular India has finally arrived.

If these bombs had gone off, that would have been a lifeline for the Shiv Sena, which has just split. They would have done a re-run of 1992 on the Muslims, and there isn't much the Congress would have been able to do about it, since they would then have been perceived as punishing the victims, rather than the terrorists.

I was in India during 1984 and know India's judicial system very well.I have commented this before: Indian police, though largely incompetent and corrupt, are ridden in religion and superstition. Islamic terrorists will seldom get arrested or trialled. they'll simply be slaughtered and buried in a rura spot somewhere and the police won't intervene. Terrorising any 3rd world nation is high risk for islamists - impoverished indians have nothing to lose, but a lot to be angry about
