India rail, temple blasts kill 15

Hmmm. The bombers seem to have targeted Hindu worshipers. Now who would want to do that? From CNN, with thanks to all who sent this in:

NEW DELHI, India (CNN) -- Three explosions in the holy Indian city of Varanasi have killed at least 15 people and wounded dozens, Indian authorities told CNN.

The first blast was in the Hindu Sankat Mochan temple on Tuesday, according to Indian Home Secretary V.K. Dugal.

The other two blasts occurred at a railway station where an express train was boarding, police said. There were casualties, they said, but the number was unknown.

Officials said they expected the casualty count to rise.

The blasts were aimed at "soft" targets "to create tension and disrupt communal harmony," Dugal said....

Several parts of the Indian city in Uttar Pradesh state were cordoned off, police said, and temples in the area -- and as far away as New Delhi -- were on high alert....

The idols at the temple, which are busiest on Tuesdays, were safe, police said.

The shrine is usually crowded at dusk with devout Hindus making a nightly offering to the monkey-god Hanuman, AP quoted police inspector Madan Mohan Pande as saying....

Varanasi is Hinduism's holiest city and is ordinarily filled with pilgrims visiting temples and bathing in the holy waters of the Ganges River, which runs through town. It is also a popular spot with foreign tourists, especially backpackers, according to AP.

Nice Muslims... Is anyone in doubt how Iran will use the Islamic nuclear bomb? I personally wonder how long would it take Pakistani clerics to pass a nuclear bomb to Kashmiris.

I can hear Zarqawi, Bin Laden, or the local imam railing on and on about polytheists, idolaters, Crusaders, Zionists, Rafidite dogs, Whores, infidels, kufr, shirk, yadda, yadda.

After reading from the link to Rick Steves' article in the Seattle Times on a DW thread, I wonder how he would justify his nothing to see, folks, just ignore this stance that we should not be concerened about this act of Mulsim terrorism against Hindus. Would it be, to use one of his stock lines, a cultural cliche along Islam's bloody borders?

Islam uses a pin prick here, a pin prick there to see what response they get and when the response shows no strength, and then it is a sword thrust.

It is frightening that the response across the world is that it is just a few bad apples doing this.

The old adage "A single bad apple will rot the barrel if not removed."

I haven't seen Islam removing the bad apples and the barrel looks to be fairly rotten to me.

When are the civilized governments of the world going to smell the rot and toss out the barrel?

The Texican,

Freedom, the only choice at any cost.

Thank goodness it wasn't worse - not for want of trying on the part of the terrorists:

An eyewitness, Siddharth Suri, told the BBC that thousands of people were at the temple at the time of the blast.

Tuesday is a special day at the Sankat Mochan temple and the explosion took place just minutes before the main worship. ...

The complex would have been packed with worshippers and the fear is the explosion was timed to have maximum impact ....

That particular quote is from the BBC -

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/4782618.stm

- the story is all over the media now. Varanasi is what used to be known as Benares. Here is the high priest on the atrocity:

"The Sankat Mochan temple is loved, respected and revered by so many people as a place of religious worship and ritual. I am so pained," the priest said.

Now let's not rush to judgement here folks. It has not been established that it was a Muslim group that carried out these attacks. Based on the law of averages, it could just as likely be a group of Methodist terrorists operating in India. Note: the bombings happened in the most holy Hindu city, Varanasi, and they happened in a Hindu temple. They were timed to maximize the number of civilian deaths. Many of those killed were children, including little girls. Whoever carried out these attacks has little respect for the Hindu religion.

My favorite quote from this version of the bombing story is:

Meanwhile, Kamal Farooqi of the Muslim Personal Law Board has appealed to all the political parties to stay calm and not to ignite communal passions.

"At this juncture, we must get together and we should try to create an environment where peace and harmony is not disturbed," he said.

----It is frightening that the response across the world is that it is just a few bad apples doing this.---

Texican we agree. Sadly it is most (but no, not all) of the rotten apple tree, not just a few bad apples.

The only bright thing in these dark, non-Western aimed, acts is that eventually (hopefully not too late) it won't be JUST The West sitting up and really saying 'It's time for Islam to radically change into something far far away from what it is, or be cut back to absolutely nothing because the rest of the WORLD will not live under the threat of your violence anymore'

According to Kamal Farooqi, passions should not be inflamed when Hindu innocents, little girls nonetheless, are murdered and one of their most sacred shrines defiled by Muslims. the Infidel must get with the program, this is not Islam, so whait is Islam? Should the Infidel dare touch a Koran with unclean hands or make a stick figure and call it Mohammed, then let the inflamed passions of the Muslim horde seethe with ultra-violent anger for death and destruction are for the glory of Allah! This is Islam!

I'm sure it was some enraged Jain. Couldn't
possibly be a Mohammadan, no, no Mohammadan has
ever harmed a Hindu without provocation.

Scumbags. Isn't this typical, just like the attack
at Diwali last year? I think a lot of Hindus do
fight back, good for them!

If twenty million Hindus moved to the US, we'd be a
better country for it. If twenty mohammadans move
here, we have to allocate resources just to make
sure they don't blow real people up. What a
vile cult it is!

I would like to send condolence and solidarity to our Hindu friends in India over this vicious, outrageous atrocity. We all stand or fall together in the face of such Islamist evil.

Davey F. says, "The only bright thing in these dark, non-Western aimed, acts is that eventually (hopefully not too late) it won't be JUST The West sitting up and really saying 'It's time for Islam to radically change".

Well, our Hindu, Sikh, etc. Indian friends have been stoutly resisting such Muslim aggression and atrocities for 100s of years, so it's actually we westerners who are new to this dire threat (with the notable, noble exception of those who beat back the jihadist invaders at Vienna and Tours, France).

Muslim Extremist Don't Care about Muslims

I think its important to realize that the attacks are meant to provoke a violent Hindu response against their Muslim neighbors. The terrorists want to destabilize India as much as possible. Hindu-Muslim violence is exactly what they want. They don't care about their fellow Muslims. Most extremist groups in India still receive funding and training from Pakistan which itself (and Bangladesh) arose out of the violence fomented by Jinnah and other fellow Muslims. The extemists want India to be divided up further.

Bloodshed and Chaos is what the terrorists want. Lets hope that Hindus don't fall into the trap.

The shrine is usually crowded at dusk with devout Hindus making a nightly offering to the monkey-god Hanuman......

I have a lot more respect for this monkey god than for the concocted Allah of the false prophet Muhammad

Robert, you miscreant! How dare you spread communal propaganda in India!

So India's got another wake-up call. Apparantly, the Diwali bombings weren't enough, as wasn't the attempted attack on Ayodhya last year. Now Varanasi. While the Bajrang Dal kar sevaks are responding, they might want to take care of Aurangzeb's mosque in Varanasi - one of the 3 mosques that Hindus had been demanding.

All of India has been put on red alert - see attached stories. I didn't link the individual stories, since at the time of writing, there are a bunch of them.

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/?

Memo to Manmohan Singh - impose President's rule in UP.

Benares was the subject of her big book, her travelogue-to-tenure book, by Diane Eck, a great Defender of the Faith -- that faith being Islam -- at Harvard, and especially at Harvard Divinity School. She, Dean William Graham (whose removal remains the unfinished business that Derek Bok will have to conclude),and Leila Ahmad are the three who stand athwart any attempt to hire real scholars of Islam, as opposed to the apologists of the Omid Shafi or Khaled Abou el Fadl school, and as they continue to do so, while their candidates can be blocked, no legitimate (i.en non-apologist) candidates can be appointed. One or two scholars of the severe Germanic Habilitation background, have been appointed. Their interests are forbiddingly narrow, or at least appear to be. They are not fools, and sensing the Eck-Graham-Ahmad axis, and its power, they are not about to speak freely of Jihad and dhimmitude. And no one teaching Islam or related subjects at the college is about to do so, either. The problem is not unique to one or another university. It is everywhere. What one waits for is a sufficient number of non-apologists, finally fed up with their own practice of taqiyya, and feeling their loyalty both to the truth and to their own, Western, Infidel civilization, will begin to speak out, to denounce the Islamintern infiltartion and domination of MESA Nostra, will leave MESA Nostra altogether to form a rump group.

After all, other than Muslims, no identifiable group has ever been known to practice taqiyya with the polish and elan of seemingly docile, not-yet-tenured junior faculty. At a certain point, they may decide currying favor with Muslim colleagues, and the confirmed non-Muslim apologists, is simply not worth it.

Pull up a chair and watch where this slight rebellion off Madison may go.

it could just as likely be a group of Methodist terrorists operating in India.

How frightening it must be to go to the namrket or to a temple and wonder if you are going to be murdered.

I can only imagine what terror that these innocents living under Islamic terror go through each day. Our prayers go out to them.

At what point will the masses arise.

Is America ready for this?????

The Texican.

Freedom, the only choice at any cost.

The Muslims exploded a bomb at an India festival or holy day, just last year - killing a lot of people there.

These people don't respect anyone - but are the most sensitive about everyone respecting it.

It is crazy, because almost every chat room is saying the same thing.

It must be only Islam that can't see that it is violent.

Our governments try to jump in and protect the religion - and how do the Islamic people treat this good gesture - they see it as an opportunity to advance their political cause.

So as our governments or social institutions go to protect the Islamic peoples from all those Bad Bad critics and Islamaphobes – the Muslims view this as the perfect occasion to ask for Shar’ia Law to be implemented in their areas.
__________
Remember the story of the Frog and the Scorpion:
__________
There was a frog and a scorpion that needed to get across the river. And the frog thought that this scorpion wouldn’t sting him; because they both had to get across the river – right? Well, midway across - the scorpion stings the frog and surprised the frog asked, ‘why did you sting me?’ Then the scorpion answers – because that is what I do.

Islam is like the scorpion – attacking us and our way of life – is what it does and will continue to do.

Looking at it positively - maybe this is just the ‘BAD BOY’ period for Islam; but in the meantime we have to guard ourselves against it.

No.1 with knowledge and a better understanding of what we are up against.

I was shocked when I heard this story and there was one muslim political leader of India who said that this is linked to the latest Indo-US nuke deal and went on to say that if India keeps siding with the US such attacks might increase.

Then it is all the more reason to have nukes in India, to keep Pakistan at bay.

Just so the visitors of Jihadwatch remember...

"Pakistan has a fantastic economy. They import aid. And they export terrorism."

It is the numero uno rogue state in South Asia.

This is despicable. But the apologists will always say, 'It's a fringe.' Easy to say since it only takes one to set off a bomb. Then you reply, with sarcasm, 'Yeah sure, it could have been a Buddhist or Quaker terrorist. They have criminal elements too.' But the apologist usually won't listen. He'll just tune out or come up with some other cheap excuse, of which there are an endless variety.

I saw a depressing example of that recently. Among news-websites that are more or less 'liberal', I did enjoy Slate. They seemed fairly gutsy, provocative and free of PC. Then the Mohammed cartoons came. I watched in dismay as they tuned out (except for Hitchens). They switched to fluff, and my respect for them evaporated.

i've seen chimps up close. i would not want to make the monkey god angry.

the islamofascists are making a mistake; attacking other third world types. these people are not hindered by liberal/multiculturalist/self loathing. they will do something ugly in return.

So? If someone wants to commit "suicide by cop"
by coming at a policeman with a knife, should the
police not kill them?

I think the hidden assumption you make is that the
"vast majority" of Muslims strongly disapprove of
this.I bet you're wrong. Maybe most wouldn't do it
themselves, but I think most support these actions
as a way to assert islamic dominance. Look at how
rapidly the infidel populations in muslim lands
decline.

I think we'll be reaching a point one day where
the talk of "Benes Decree" and the like will
seem mild.

There is a chance the terrorists were Communist rather than Muslim. India and Nepal have a problem with Communists. Communism is not as dead as some people think.

Hmmm... I have to disagree about the communists. Indian communists are rather typical Indian democratic (albeit corrupt) politicians. They maybe Islamic apologists, but not terrorists. They participate in the political process of India just as any other Indian does.

This is something from across the border. The usual suspects... Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed etc... Trained on Pakistani soil... Funded by Pakistani ISI... Or some other group that is linked to one of these two.

As usual Pakistanis must be crying like babies which didnt get candies during Bush visit. Just as one pakistani news paper said... "Bush didnt give Pakistan even a lollipop"... Yeah right... And so now go blow up the others did get it.

But it is too early to say, but there are usually no surprises in such incidents.

And I must add, the naxalites of India come from various religious backgrounds and the maoists of Nepal are simply against the Nepali King's policies. They attack the establishment (i.e. government buildings etc), but not religious places. This smells simply like LeT or JeM or someone linked to them.

l wonder when the boiling point will be reached, and countries will have to outlaw the cult of islam.
can it come to this..? can we demand safety within our own country? if the pc culture doesnt kill us first, we will need to outlaw this cult!

I think we'll be reaching a point one day where
the talk of "Benes Decree" and the like will
seem mild.

Interesting information.

special_guest quoted :

Good pick up special_guest.

After each terrorist attack by muslims their spokesman will come and say such things. They wish to appear, that they as muslims are concerned about peace and harmony. It was the same in NY, Madrid, London and Delhi.

Another reason, understandably, is that they do not wish that kuffars strike back.

Now we will see yet again, the government will rush troops to protect...........No NOT the Temples but the mosques. Same as in NY, Madrid, London and Delhi.

I too will take the monkey god Hanuman over jealous, insecure Allah any day. I hope there's a pig god too, and a vengeful one at that!

David posted; They don't care about their fellow Muslims.

True, but they do care about islam. They do wish to see islam as the dominant religion in South Asia - and in that objective they have the support of all muslims.

Why is such happening only in Hindu religious places of worship ? The govt seems to appease minorites with majorities interests being compromised.Indian lawmakers have just fallen flat to those people for votes.
It is surprising that we hardly hear from any Muslim Organisations in India condemning the attacks when Muslim Terrorist outfits are involved. Does it indicate that vast majority of Indian Muslims tacitly support such anti-Hindu attacks ?
And now Mr.PM,MMSingh is being demanded by muslims to explain US nuclear deal to them. Why so ?If its a policy of a country, the citizens are ought to accept it.Why special
considerations to them ?
Indians demand an answer .

The long and sad story of Hindu appeasement of Islamism in India continues.. I agree with sutasuta that the present Congress regime has carried this sordid drama to new heights...those who want to see a full reports of this latest horror can see the extensive coverage by the Gateway Pundit below

Hammer_Time,the Western news media refer to the Hindu god Hanuman as the monkey god. This unfortunately perpetuates a caricature of Hinduism as a primitive belief system. In reality,it is a very catholic and syncretic spiritual tradition. Hanuman, a mythological deity from the Hindu epic Ramayana,is more akin to the wind-god of the Greeks. He also represents supreme devotion and courage. He is given the role of a Guru in several South Indian traditions, for his uniting Rama with Sita is likened to that of a teacher helping an individual soul realize the divine.See WIkipedia reference here

CNN reports:

"...Varanasi has a history of sectarian violence..."

and this:

"...Nobody has stepped forward yet to claim responsibility..."

One of the constant (and most obvious, and phoniest) themes of Muslim propaganda, of the kind much on display at Mosque Outreach Nights, and Muslim-Jewish "Dialogues" (where Muslims explain to Jews that they, the Muslims, are "the new Jews") and Muslim-Christian "Dialogues" (where Muslims explain to Christeians that they, the Muslims, have so much more in common with Christians than either Muslims or Christians do with Jews, who are to be treated as "the new Jews" just the way "the old Jews" were treated), is that Islam shares so very much with its "fellow monotheisms," its fellw "abrahamic faiths." Nonsense. Of course Islam incorporated, in quite disturbingly distorted ways, chunks of both Judaism and Christianity, and mixed it up with pagan Arab lore from the pre-Islamic period of the "Jahiliyya." That was only to be expected. Whether Islam is a Jewish sect gone haywire, or a Christian sect gone haywire, or simply a melange of things concocted to make palatable the conquest, by military means and by demography (which is coming to be revealed as an instrument of Jihad from the very beginning of the Islamic conquests), to both justify and promote that Islamic conquest of non-Muslims who were far more wealthy, advanced, and settled than the pagan Arabs who had come to live among them, in discrete communities, and then, inflamed no doubt by the alien and hostile creed of Islam, took control, and offered a belief-system clevery containing elements that Jews and Christians would find familiar, and with the whole thing packaged not exactly as the "new, improved" version of the two prior monotheisms but rather based on the uncreated and best version of the text, the one which both Jews and Christians either did not receive properly, or did not accept and comprehend properly.

In fact, Christians and Jews have far more in common with Hindus than they do with their fellow monotheists, Muslims. Hinduism may be perceived, or might once have been perceived, as an alien creed in the Western world. But Islam is not merely an alien creed. It is an alien and a hostile creed, and even if the "alien-ness" or "foreign-ness" somehow wears off -- thanks to all that media attention such as The New Duranty Times series designed to make Muslims seem so unthreatening, so full of the same hopes and dreams, etc. -- all that Family-of-Man sentimentality -- that we all are -- the hostility does not wear off, and cannot, and is forever renewed, forever replenished, like the ranks of those who wish not merely to support, but to actively participate in, the Jihad.

Islam is the odd man out. And all this talk of "fellow monotheisms" and the "three abrahamic faiths" simply pulls wool over Infidel eyes, and misses the point. Visit a Hindu temple if you can. You will not feel threatened. You will not be subject to taqiyya. You will not have an entirely false presentation of the religion -- as happens whenever one visits those mosques and talks to those imams, some of them apparently now being caught on tape saying quite different things, all over the world.

In memory of these souls:

"The central theme of the Upanishads is to seek unity in the midst of diversity. 'What is it that, by knowing it, everything in the universe is known?' The answer is to be found in the Conception of the... Ultimate Cause. Since the effect is not different from the cause, it is possible to know the Universe by knowing the nature of the Ultimate Cause, -'As, by knowing one lump of clay, all that is then made of clay is also known; for the modification is but an effect ...of speech, ...or of a mere naming, and the only reality is in the clay.'"

-Madha-Vananda.

I have been watching India TV over here - and the officials are protecting the Temples.

They suspect a group called the Kashtar – which originates in Bangladesh – a Muslim country. A few Kashtar suspects have been shot by the authorities – whether they were involved is not clear at this moment.

Here in the UK we have one of the largest Hindu Temples in the world.

This is really an unbelievably nasty act.

I think that Islam is a jealous - and a destructive religion. Here is a religion that outwardly wishes to break everything down - that anyone has, which is not its own.

Then it is willing to go as far as the UN to stop people from saying things which it might find offensive. What a long list we might get !!

We know Muslims can make noise when they want to – so we have to take their silence - in these murderous acts and these incitements to murder (ie. of the cartoonists), as a clear indication that they support this type of behaviour.

Do they believe that acts like these are just punishment for being a non-Muslim?

Maybe Islam needs another God [this one is totally out of control] to give Muslims someone else to turn to.

We should not have to care what the Koran says - Muslims should be made to respect other people, regardless. They are demanding the most respect – but are giving the least.

Sorry -

The suspect was meant to be a Lashkar militant - rather than Kashtar - from Bangladesh.

"...Varanasi has a history of sectarian violence..."

Well the fact that all of Hinduism's holiest cities Mathura, Prayag (officially still called Allahbad "City of Allah"), Varanasi (a.k.a Benares) have more mosques (often upon sites of detroyed Hindu temples) is probably the biggest provocatio to Hindus.

I'd like to see those 150K+ anti-Bush Muslim protesters, turn up at todays protest. Nothing much will happen. Hindu memories thankfully for Muslim-appesers in New Delhi is very short. So-called "Peace process" (surrender to Jehadis) stays on track.

Anyways mark my word if those VHP/RSS idiots do show an uncharacteristic display of spine tommorow and have a go at Muslims, 2 years later Indian government will be setting up commisions exonerating Muslims from any role in the blasts, just like they have done with Gujarat riots. (Of 400 people on the train only the bogey carrying Hindu activists gutted fire in a Muslim-majority town by accident!)

These incidents are the bloddy harvest of the Muslim appeasement ingrained in India's political pysche. 150 Million Muslims of India vote en masse to Congress and its Left Front chums, which ofcourse gives them a greater bargaining power in Delhi.

Hello Chakravak and others,

I figured "monkey god" was probably quite a caricature of the actual spiritual entity mentioned (and not my caricature).

However, it made for such an inviting opportunity to ridicule Islam that I simply couldn't resist playing off of it for best effect. I apologize for any offense given or felt by our Hindu friends here.

I have no doubt that Hinduism is a very complex and deep spiritual system.

There's only one religion in the world I have a problem with, and that's the one which inspires its most scrupulous practitioners, legions of them, to subjugate or murder Non-Believers (i.e. Non-Muslims) in its name. Islam.

Some people think Islam can be brought out of the 8th Century (A.D. by the Christian calendar) and into the modern world to live side-by-side in peace with its neighbors. I doubt it but would actually love nothing more than for that to happen. But if it is to do so then it must withstand criticism and, yes, even ridicule, like every other religion and belief in today's world.

Muslims subscribe to many unyielding "truths" (chief among them: "There Is No God But Allah"), and that's their right to do so. It's when they try to force their beliefs on all the rest of us, through intimidation, threats, and violence, where the BIG PROBLEM comes in. So if they're trying to force me to subscribe to some belief, say, "The Earth is Flat", then I will resist. And if the threats, coercion, and violence is carried past a certain point, then I will fight back with everything in my power, including withering ridicule.

Many Muslims have gone so far past any semblance of civility and respect for others and other beliefs, that they cannot expect their intolerant faith to be out-of-bounds for counterattack. And yet that's exactly what they do expect. Astonishing!

In my judgment Islam needs to be analyzed, criticized, ridiculed, and anything/everything else that shines a bright light on it. Yes, bright light on a dark, supremicist religion can only help illuminate THE MAJOR PROBLEM in the world today.

p.s. I've changed my type-key user name from Hammer_Time to Martyr-Maker. Ready to fight if need be.

Well Hanuman is not a monkey God, he is a a Human with monkey-like creatures.. or some thing like that. But factual correctness about India and Hinduism has never been an MSM forte.

Bloodshed and Chaos is what the terrorists want. Lets hope that Hindus don't fall into the trap.

- david.

.. and your take is what? not fall into the trap of standing up to barbarism? run like a rat? or hide like a coward? roll over dead? all of the above? pretend nothng happened?

@Vikrant... Factual correctness will matter only if we survive Islamism. And we are not muslim extremists who are incapable of settling issues thru educated debate.

It is time for us to unite against Islamic terror, not fight with our petty objections. And Indian culture adapted and survived 2 millenia of invasions, starting with the Greeks to the Muslims to English and yet retains its true flavors to this day.

Remember, by the end of this century Islam will be the largest religion with 2 billion followers. To counter the no. of extremists that might arise, we need to unite the rest, since the moderates in Islam (if they exist) are practically non-existent.

Dear Members of jihadwatch.

These bomb blasts have all the trails leading to islamic fascists.
A few days earlier, in Lucknow, Muslims who were part of an Anti-Bush rally asked Hindus to close their shops. The Hindus refused, following which, muslims attacked and vandalized Hindu belongings.
Four people died and 12 others were injured.

We are all in this together, as infidels, and together we shall prevail.

P.S
for those who want to know

Hanuman "the monkey god" is representative of ultimate devotion, inner strength, truthfulness and loyalty.
The deity is one of the representative characters from Valmiki's "Ramayana", written sometime between 2nd and 4th century B.C. His character portrays supreme devotion* to Rama(an incarnation of Vishnu, one of Hinduism's divine trinity(ultimately part of the singularity called brahman)).
*devotion is one of the ways of acheiving salvation in HInduism, along with duty and knowledge

Blueprint for tackling jihad in India. As with the west, this probably won't happen until it's too late...

http://www.indiacause.com/columns/OL_051120.htm

What response will break the back of jihad in India?

An effective and comprehensive approach toward tackling jihad has the following features: discredit the religious foundation of Islam, portray it as an entity incapable of bringing future to millions of Muslims and their children, and specifically for South Asia treat it as the ideology that is proven to convert Muslims into slaves for Arab conquest of India and finally, use force to destroy its power structure and leave Indian Muslims only one option: that of converting to Hinduism.

Articulate and identify Islam as an Arab-Nazi ideology (i.e. Islam is not religion; Mohammed was a military commander and not a “prophet”; “Allah” is his military creation; the Muslim “holy book” is neither complete nor accurate) designed for take over of land for Arab empires and offers no future for Muslim children of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, other than use them as slaves in a never-ending jihad. Also identify Islam as an ideological intoxicant. This articulation sets up the stage for a civilized fight back against Islam’s military installations and foot-soldiers in India.

Under emergency or martial law a decree is issued that no one is allowed to assemble in mosques or madarasas in India on the grounds that these are military installations for Arab expansionism in India

This is followed by demolishing all mosques and madarasas, thereby take away Muslims’ ability to assemble, organize and wage jihad

Indian Muslims’ access to internet or any form of communication is curtailed, with internet identified as mobilizing tool for jihad

Muslims living in Eastern states of Assam, Bihar, West Bengal or Orissa are to be sent away to Islamic Bangladesh as part of population exchange started by Pakistan/Bangladesh

Next, Indian military is sent to areas within India with large Muslim populations. Their orders are to “neutralize” Islamic terror cells within these communities with least casualty of the security forces and do so quickly. Any amount of collateral damage among Muslim population supporting these terror cells is allowed (very presence of Muslims in India after 1947 Islamic partition is a grievance). This is done to ensure that Muslim extremists do not use Muslim civilians as a cover to wage endless guerrilla warfare

As this operations go on Indian Muslims are banned from any form of employment, conduct business, lose voting rights and property rights unless they convert to Hinduism

Any Indian Muslim refusing to convert to Hinduism is subject to treason charges (on the grounds of being foot-soldiers for Arab conquest)

800 years ago Muslim Arab sailors arrived here in teh Maldive Islands. They beheaded the Buddhist Sangha and created an Islamic country. Our 2500 year old heritage of Hindhu/Buddhist culture has been replaced by Islam, anything to do with our former religion vandalized and destroyed. Today Saudi petrodollar funded schools and medressas spew forth anti-semitism and intolerance towards all other religions, the arabic headscarf and burga has become the de facto national dress.
Now an Arab educated regime of Islamists run the country with Chief Mullah Maummon Abdel Gayoom as Dictator. Islam is his chief weapon in supressing and exploiting the people. Go to maldivesroyalfamily.com for details. And if they find out who I am, I will be thrown in jail and re-educated until I repent. I will be forced to undergo koran reading, prayers etc for me to get back to life here.
Unless freedom loving people around the world wake up and stand up to this threat, the whole world is destined to become like the Maldives which proudly calls itself a 100% Muslim nation. That means no pig, no dogs, no other religion.

@mistyhymen... That sounds exactly like the thinking of a muslim extremist. What we need is a way to stop the terror at the roots not the symptoms and that means stopping the cancer at the middle-east, Iran and pakistan; not pillage and plunder that characterises muslim conquests.

We can use our strengths to topple them. We believe in freedom and progress and the same can be used to topple Islamofascism. We need more spy satellites roaming over middle-east, Iran, Pakistan etc. We need to improve our technology that cuts the petrodollars. We need to make them come out of the dream that their oil is what keeps the world running.

Meanwhile, we should make sure to take out any nukes or dangerous weapons from falling into their hands. That includes taking care of Pakistan and Iran. We need a clear plan that will simply deprive them the opportunity to become terrorists.

I havent come across any Muslim condemning such acts in the country .Not yet atleast in this forum ! NOT YET !

csa bill!

Extremists require extreme solutions!

Deepest sympathy goes to all our Hindu friends at JW. I visted the huge Hindu temple (the Shri Swaminarayan Mandir) in North West London last year and had an enchanting day there. Building this amazing place was a labour of love, the atmosphere was so friendly and welcoming, the religious beliefs fascinating and I even got to have an excellent Indian lunch at the temple cafe (and took home some Indian sweets). I'm outraged by this latest atrocity and as Rajeev says - we're all in this together.

I have tried to refrain from commenting since I have nothing intelectual to add, only emotions. My blood is boiling and I feel so frustrated being so far away from all that is happening.

I won't write any inflammatory comments since JW should be kept away from being designated as a hate site, but I will say this, my cousin called from Benares this morning and told us that Hindus are donning the Saffron robes and preparing for a backlash against the Muslims, while the Government is trying to stop this from happening.

I only hope the RSS, Shiv Sena and VHP get involved, we need them now to send back a message to the terrorists and their Jihadis.

Jai Sri Rama, Bajrangbali ki jai.

There's CNN making up stuff again. Varanasi does not have a history of sectarian violence. None of the cities above -Varanasi, Mathura, Allahabad (Prayag), Faizabad (Ayodhya)- have Muslim populations anywhere close to the national average of 15%. Nonetheless, the mosques that do exist in these cities are simply kept alive for spite.

While we mourn those who died, thankfully the death toll so far has been limited. Sadly, the result of this low casuality rate is that this will be a story quickly forgotten, like the Delhi Diwali bombings last year, and nothing major will follow. It would take a major attack of far greater magnitude to get Hindus to force the government to stop tolerating Muslims doing anything beyond living their daily lives.

Like Gorkhali above, I don't want to write anything inflammatory. Note that we have been attacked, last year on Diwali, and now this year. Next time the question comes up on whether to conduct war on Muslim countries during Ramadan or Id, keep that in mind. And no time-outs!

One more thing. Communists, barbaric as they are, usually conduct guerilla attacks in India and Nepal on troops, government workers and innocent civilians. However, they have not been knowns to conduct terrorist operations like the ones above.

For this one, the LeT branch in UP is right now under investigation.

This may be old news already posted, in which case I apologise.
According to today's Times a suspect for this bombing has been shot and killed just outside Lucknow.
"Named as Salar, the man was believed to be a member of Lashkar-e-Taiba, an Islamic militant group which is fighting Indian rule in Kashmir."

Meanwhile the death toll is now 68 wounded and 28 dead, including several brides and grooms whose weddings were in progress. The device was probably hidden in a pressure cooker which trick has been used before.

A bad business, and at a place of worship.

@Granny Weatherwax :Now the question arises as where was the intelligence before the blasts ?It seems like a regular humbug to kill one in an encounter and claim him to be a terrorist. Why not catch him alive and investigate more ?
Many unresolved questions remains still....

Sutasuta!

You can't keep every inch of the land under surveillance every minute of the day. When the islamists want to create havoc, they will. India has millions of soft targets. They are even prepared to die for spreading their religion. There is, thus, no point in arresting some suspects and then run the risk of some hostage-taking by other terrorists for the release of the earlier arrested colleagues. Best thing to do is to deliver instant justice to whosoever is caught. That's what has been done in the present case.

In the same spirit, I will refrain for now from using the name "Martyr-Maker" as my log-in. It sounds too eager for blood. I am not eager for blood or battle. My deepest wish is that people could live all over the world together in peace and harmony.

Unfortunately... such good tidings are completely worthless in the face of such evil the Islamic Supremicists carry in their dark hearts for ALL non-muslims.

So, regretably, reluctantly, but with firm and unshakable resolve, we will fight back. Not with violence against innocents, as the "brave" army of Islam does, but with all the other resources available to civilized people.

But make no mistake; if the 'civilized' way does not stop the relentless aggression of Islam against all of non-Islam, then we will fight fire with fire, and the "Dar-al-Harb" will pour destruction back on the house of Islam if necessary.

I am done with the endless atrocities that Supremicist Islam is perpetrating on the rest of the world.

Whoa mistyhymen! That Blueprint for tackling Jihad is just what the muslims would love to cite as an example of why they are under threat everywhere and also prove that others are no different.

The following is a very simplistic view of another possible blueprint for doing something about jihad.

If you see it from a modern muslim's perspective, he really has almost NO escape from this problem (not of his making or even his parents')from birth:

1. He/she is conditioned to view all others in a certain hostile or superior way. This is a common feature of almost all ancient societies. Most other societies have outgrown this and moved on to understanding and acceptance. One upmanship has prevented this from happening in Islamic societies

2. The religious and societal pressure to conform is so enormous that it is difficult to comprehend for most outside Islam. Apostasy still carries the penalty of death and it takes a very courageous person to disown islam even in the west. In muslim countries, it's more like suicide.

3. Each person grows up in an environment of submission and unquestioning obedience to whatever is publicly acceptable (ie comes from a power centre capable of enforcing his will). To others it looks like a robot or cyborg like phenomena, but to the individual it's a way of getting acceptance and respect in his society.

4. This personal humiliation is sublimated and becomes part of the individual's being, in something akin to Stockholm syndrome, where the hostages of a kidnapper or terrorist start sympathising with and justifying the action of their oppressor.

5. There's also an incentive in the ability to get away with crimes against others, even for purely selfish purposes, as there's sanction for this. Hence the great historical attraction to convert to islam among so many non-muslim rulers.

The challenge then is to help the modern muslims find a way out and also provide them with an option. Communism worked for a while with many, but the values of an atheistic (perceived as non-moral) life do not provide a comforting option to a spiritually devout muslim (and for that matter to a Hindu, Christian, Buddhist or Jew).

This is the crux of the matter and I am all for aggressive action to help the modern muslims achieve freedom from tyranny of their belief system. Violent responses to atrocities, at times inevitable, should really be a last action, avoided till nothing else works.

Dunk-- Thanks for an incisive and very thoughtful summary of the Islam problem. I have one quibble though. You lump all other major religions in one group. While I myself am broadly agnostic, I would suggest making a basic distinction: Religious creeds based on a book and a historical revealation--Semitic traditions, and those belief systems that basically call for a direct personal spiritual experience of "the ultimate reality" -- the Hindu-Buddhist traditions. While the former essentially claim to be "the only true path" and aim to convert outsiders to their faith, the latter see attempts at conversion as pointless. Although the former are hard to suare with a modern rationalist world-view, the latter can be consistent with it. As a Hindu, for instance, you do not need to take any book or dogma as true, but explore for yourself various spiritual paths such as Yoga, to discover " the Universal Self" which is claimed to be the immanent and transcendant reality. I think Muslims need to be offered an alternative that would be broadly consistent with a rarional-scentific world-view. I concede it is tall order! --Chakravak

Buddhism is a wonderful tradition, I am a Buddhist and my attraction to it is that the Buddha in his final sermon neither denied nor confirmed the existence of God. Buddhism is a faith without a diety.

The Asian religions are different from the Semitic religions because in Asia, religion is very fluid, doctrinal orthodoxy is not important, there are many paths to the divine, this tolerant stance permits variety which characterizes Buddhism.
