Tehran, Iran, Mar. 29 – Radical Islamists in Iran’s western province of Lorestan were invited during a ceremony on Wednesday to enlist in garrisons to carry out suicide attacks against the United States.The People’s Headquarters in Continuation of the Path of the Martyrs in Lorestan, a newly-founded government-backed group, began enlisting “martyrdom-seeking volunteers” to “confront possible threats by America and the West” against Iran.
The government-run news agency Mehr reported that the organisation comprised of “religious delegations” and “martyrdom-seeking garrisons”....
Another state-organised group, which avowedly trains suicide bombers against “Western infidels and Zionists”, recently announced that it had enlisted 53,900 people to carry out “martyrdom-seeking operations”.
The Headquarters to Commemorate Martyrs of the Global Islamic Movement, an organisation set up by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps in 2004, offers volunteers three choices: To carry out suicide attacks against “the infidels occupying Iraq”, against Israel, or against controversial British author Salman Rushdie.
Given the muslim tendency to over exaggerate numbers, they might have had 1 or 2 sign up who were serious seekers of martyrdom and the rest just were just showing off their zeal. The total was probably 53, not 53,900. They probably put conditions on their bravery.
I will be a martyr if the following conditions are met:
The Americans come here, to my country, my street, and my house.
I have absolutely no chance to surrender.
My country has already turned into a radioactive hellhole and I am slowing dying anyway.
My Imam has someone threatening my wife and kids if I back down.
I do like the fact that they advertise for martyrs publicly. I would love to know the chances of a young Iranian male getting a visa.
OT: Looks like Jill Carroll is free, I'd bet she didn't enjoy her time in Iraq.
I'd bet she converted or she is pregnant.
Ms Carroll has stated that her captors treated her well and did not threaten to hit her.
If this is so then what was that video about where she is crying and pleading for her life?
Patriot2 - actually, once Kember himself spoke, he was rather less arrogant and more grateful than his associates had been. He spoke of the four months of captivity as having been "stolen" from him, and seemed to have rather less benevolence for jihadis than for the allied troops who carried out the immensely dangerous and complex operation that led to his liberation. Perhaps a man can learn, even at 75. Or perhaps he just has better manners than some of his younger friends.

Unfortunately I think you might be right, considering the muslim doo-rag and body "skirt" she was wearing in an interview after her release. When I first read about her being release I was very excited and then I saw the picture of her, read her words, and with a heavy heart put 1 + 1 = 2. (Kidnapped by Islamists) + (Good treatment) = muslim or knocked up. OK as for this Iranian thing, what a bunch of wishful thinkers. How on earth are they going to suicide bomb the US, on rubber dingies? I really hope the world starts waking up big time to this whole muslim thing. One of my good friends put it best when describing the 'radical' minority, "for a minority they sure are a pretty F****** big minority." Well in any event, hate will never overcome love, but love can overcome hate and sins. peace out.

Yes, without good manners and in the absence of intelligent rhetoric, this site might be plagued, as are so many others, by the bigoted scribblings of mean poseurs and uninformed dilatants; who, when challenged to leave their comfort zones, resort to adolescent ad hominem, impotently hurling epithets such as “dolt” etc. Fortunately for us all, with gentlemen such as Paolo to lead by sterling example and courage of conviction, we are all blessed.

Oh, for God's sake! Americans have been too cowed, too quiet, too polite, too unaware, too apologetic, too self-depricating, too weak, too in-denial, too misinformed and too complacent for far, far too long.
I can't help but wonder what the world will do when the American people actually do get righteously pissed off. If we see Iranians blowing themselves up in U.S. shopping malls, I'd wager we're going to find out. Chew on that thought, any of you jihadists that are reading. It's always quietest before the storm....
One must only read the histories of the American Revolution, the War of 1812 and the Civil War to understand that real American metal is never that far from the surface. And patience is finite.
Unfortunately, when dealing with Iran the US is up against precedents that America itself set. The Iranian government has a reasonable belief that it can make threats and even carry out low level attacks with impunity. The US embassy takeover, Iranian supported Hizbollah and Islamic Jihad attacks against the Marine barracks and embassy in Beirut, the more recent documented activities of Iranian special ops troops in Afghanistan. These and many more examples show the Iranians that the US government is willing to tolerate a substantial volume of violence without tangible response. All the threats by blog posters notwithstanding. They've been getting away with it for a quarter century, why stop now.
