Hamburg police said officers found the head in a bag on a grass verge and arrested the man, who was in a confused state and admitted killing his wife.
The body of the woman, aged 39, was found in their nearby flat.
Hamburg police spokeswoman Ulrike Sweden said the man seemed "a bit crazy" and may have to see a doctor before charges can be brought....
She said police found a large knife in the flat in Eissendorf, in the south of the city.

A little girl "married" at age four to a 30 year old man and physically abused by his family for years in the most grotesque and hateful ways.
He wil get out of this. Between being a Muslim and rolling up in a supposedly confused state, the psychiatrists will have a field day. He will plead not guilty on account of diminished responsibility and his next wife wil have reason to worry.

The apparent religious significance of beheading in Islamic societies further supports the motive of an honor killing. An honor killing, or, as other comments have suggested, a "Henry VIII"-sort of moment on the part of the perpetrator.

On the larger issue of honor killings, Muslim's constantly insist that this phenomenon is a reflection of "culture" and has nothing to do with religion. We must confront such as assertion with one penetrating question: If adherents to Islam consistantly attribute all the cultural assets of the Muslim world to their religion, which they do, why then is the faith automatically exonerated when discussing cultural pathologies such as honor killings, spousal abuse, female genital mutilation, etc?

Reminds me of the headlines in the Tarheel Jihad caper: For example, though they were not alone, MSNBC featured the headline: "Driver charged after SUV plows through crowd." And their initial coverage contained no reference to "Islam" or Muslims, nor the fact that the perp was another Muslim run amok and spouting Muslim rhetoric to justify his crime.

I recall a psychiatrist's saying at Front Page Mag that these people are very literal: cutting someone's head off is a way of dealing with the source of thoughts with which one can't cope. Perhaps not always, perhaps not here; but it's an interesting and plausible suggestion.
He may be mad, but if he is the precise form his madness takes is not a small matter and not something to be rendered off limits for discussion because the word "madness" has been introduced (possibly in an attempt to do so). Are madmen not affected by culture in which they move, too?
