Three Melbourne men have been charged with terrorist offences in relation to an ongoing counter-terrorism operation in the city.The Australian Federal Police (AFP), ASIO and Victorian police have all been involved in the arrests.
A 21-year-old, a 25-year-old and a 26-year-old from the city's northern suburbs were questioned at the AFP's headquarters in Melbourne.
They have been charged with intentional membership of a terrorist organisation and intentionally making funds available to a terrorist organisation.
The two older men have also been charged with supporting a terrorist organisation.
Methodists?
Giving money to the Methodist Church is now terrorism in Austrilia???

The headline says "Melbourne trio." I thought they might be like the Kingston trio. But you are right, it definitely says "Melbourne men" in the article-not Quackers or Quakers. The Weekend Australian reports the trio were "devotees of alleged terror cell leader and self-styled radical Islamic cleric Nacer Benbrika, who was one of 19 Sydney and Melbourne men arrested in November in the nation's biggest counter-terrorism operation.
Majed was arrested at his home in the northern Melbourne suburb of Coburg while having dinner at 5.30pm yesterday. His wife was in tears as her husband was taken away in handcuffs. "His mother is really upset," a relative told The Weekend Australian in Arabic.
Bassam and Majed were charged over a scuffle with the media outside a Melbourne court late last year after a hearing for some of the 10 Melbourne terror suspects who had been arrested days earlier in the joint state and federal police raids."
That doesn't mean to say they weren't Methodists, or Rarotongan animists, or that the CIA, Mossad and Easter Bunny had no hand in all this.

Oh boo hoo! Are those violins I hear? Why does the media continually show us the "upset" mothers and wives of these scumbags? The cops arrest some drug dealer or suspected murderer or attacker and rarely, if ever, does the media annoy us with what the family thinks. But any arrest over Islamic wannabe-murderers and we have to put up with soundbites of their supposedly upset family members. Family that obviously weren't so concerned about what their dear hubbies and sons were getting up to as to put a stop to it. They're upset that their dearies were caught before being able to commit mass murder on a bunch of people and had their heavenly whorehouse reward taken from them.

Get this, I was just watching the channel 7 coverage of this story and police media spokesman pointed out, and I quote," that the charges are related to CRIMINAL ACTIVITY, and NOT related to any particular religion." That was just after they mentioned the jihadis middle eastern names, and pointed out their connection to jihadi spiritual leader Nacer Benbrika.

'During the initial raids last November, more than 400 federal and state police swooped on 22 properties.
Police charged 10 Melbourne men; Abdulla Merhi of Fawkner, Hany Taha of Hadfield, Ezzit Raad of Preston, Aimen Joud of Hoppers Crossing, Fadal Sayadi of Coburg, Amer Haddara of Yarraville, Ahmed Raad of Fawkner, Izzydeen Atik of Williamstown North, Shane Kent of Meadow Heights and Abdul Nacer Benbrika of Dallas; with knowingly being members of a terrorist organisation between July 2004 and November 2005.
Abdul Nacer Benbrika was also charged with intentionally directing the activities of a terrorist organisation.
The AFP yesterday laid additional charges against Melbourne men already facing terror charges as a result of last year's raids.
An AFP spokeswoman said the charges were laid after evidence collected in the raids was examined.
She said two of the men; Shane Kent and Aimen Joud; were charged with providing support to a terrorist organisation'.
Some of these 'men' are the same scum who attacked photographers outside a Melbourne court recently. Pity we dont have the death penalty any more.
