Mofaz remembers that there is still a war on, and isn't fooled by all the soothing rhetoric about Hamas now being "moderate."
From AP:
JERUSALEM - Israel's defense minister said Tuesday that the Islamic militant Hamas group's prime minister-designate, Ismail Haniyeh, is not immune from an Israeli targeted killing.Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz told Israel's Army Radio that Israel's policy of pinpointed killings has proven to be effective, and will continue.
"There is no question about its efficacy," Mofaz said. "Look what happened to Hamas in the years it conducted an untrammeled suicide bombing war against us. When we started the targeted killings, the situation changed."
"We will continue the targeted killings at this pace," he added. "No one will be immune."...
Asked if Hamas' prime minister-designate would be a target if Hamas were to resume its attacks on Israel, Mofaz responded: "If Hamas, a terror organization that doesn't recognize agreements with us and isn't willing to renounce violence, presents us with the challenge of having to confront a terror organization, then no one there will be immune. Not just Ismail Haniyeh. No one will be immune."...
Salah al-Bardawil, a Hamas spokesman, denounced Mofaz's comments.
"This statement and Israeli practices on the ground reflect the bloody, inhumane and inflammatory character of the Zionist enemy," al-Bardawil said. "We are not seeking immunity or mercy from Israel. We are in a confrontation. The side that is most steadfast is the side that will survive."
Indeed.
So the line has been drawn.......
"We are not seeking immunity or mercy from Israel. We are in a confrontation. The side that is most steadfast is the side that will survive."
Are you kidding me? I can feel him shaking up here in the Pac. Northwest. Probably going to hurt his neck looking around for Israeli Army Apaches.
Ismail Haniyeh, is not immune from an Israeli targeted killing... I cannot see any reason why not either and the same can be said about the "thug in chief" in Iran too.

Muslims can't be trusted. Even the socalled moderate european muslims are gradually being radicalized (or, should I perhaps rather say, returning to the roots of their faith):

In Denmark virtually noone in the immigrant community supports the government:

So can Hamas be trusted? Never.

Tactically this is a good plan. They are playing by big boy’s rules; no consideration is made to their feelings. No attempt to have a dialogue among equals. No calls for “tolerance and understanding” they just attack their lines of communications, they expect and counter their propaganda and cause the leadership to consider what effect their actions will have on themselves.
I think they have figured it out. The terrorists are the “good muslims” they follow that evil book to the letter. True, all readers of the koran do not commit acts of terror but as long as they do read it any of them could potentially fall under its spell and turn violent. We have to punish those who push the ideology. I don’t believe the muslim math but consider this, they claim 1.2 billion (I have seen higher numbers) and one percent are terrorists. Ok, so we have 1.2 million of them running around. How many Imams teach hate, how many web sites preach hate, how many books, flyers, whatever teach hate? How many see it? Can they increase their numbers by 2%, 5%, 10-15%? We really do not know how many potential terrorists are out there. Israel’s plan to destroy the leaderships has merit. It is easier to find them than to determine who will listen to them.
Until we stop the ideology from being used to motivate and recruit we will continue to see stories about, peaceful muslims who went bad. If we started arresting those who push the agenda, closing mosques used to teach it, deporting those who support it and tell the truth, terrorism is not the problem, the problem is the instruction book that started the entire thing. We have had many cults over the years and as long as they set up little camps and stayed to them selves we allowed this, once they armed them selves and turned violent we went after them. Why the kids gloves with islam, what am I missing? What do I not understand? I tend to believe their own spokespeople when they say we will be conquered and converted. I don’t believe they will win but I see them trying it. I don’t see us recognizing the threat or responding to it, at least not here at home. Sites like this must really worry them. I see they have people who counter and respond to the posts but I consider most of it as propaganda and ignore it. Truth is a powerful weapon. I see no truth in islam.

Thanks for that link. The footage is chilling and despite the breezy cosmopolitan atmosphere in the city centre, the infiltration of Saudi-sponsored Wahhabism in Bosnia clearly bodes ill for the future of Bosnia. I also suspect that with increasing Arab influence over Western news organisations, we are less likely to see investigative reporting like this from British and American broadcasters.

I'm afraid that I must agree with you. Just think about the french newspaper editor who got sacked by the Egyptian owner of the paper because he published the Muhammad cartoons. Chilling indeed.
Speaking of Israeli targets, how about Iran?
http://www.arutzsheva.com/news.php3?id=99700
Apparently there are Israelis involved in a covert operation in Iran. Why this would be publicized is beyond me, but there is the article.
Ronin,
1% of 1.2 billion=12 millions. There are more terrorists or potential terrorists than one can ever imagine.
The scum's last comment is however correct: the side that is the most steadfast is the one that survives.
As some Repubs taunt the Dems as suddenly discovering security and profiling in the Dubai standoff, they are poised to underwrite their (and our) defeat at the polls.
Failure to understand that the 'good' Muslim is our sworn, lying and implacable enemy.
The inattention between making sure your kid has enough for college and going back to your golf game.
The side that is the most steadfast etc......
There are no moderate Muslims. Even those that are not doing the actual acts of violence that say they are moderate have not shown they are really outraged about how their 'brothers' are rioting, killing and beheading innocent people.

Forecasts for the American Expedition to Iraq – the Sequel.
I'm not necessarily recommending any thought in this piece - just pointing to it as an interesting discussion of the current situation.
libbysmom,
Whether it's true or not, Iran will have to react. The U.S. and Israel will carefully study Iran's reactions in terms of security, or I hope so.
I thought we'd fight foreign jihadis trying to enter Iraq, not in the cities.
"We are not seeking immunity or mercy from Israel. We are in a confrontation."
Of course, these words are spoken by a coward who will hide in Damascas, or make sure he his constantly surrounded by women and children wherever he goes. Israel must not let either of those circumstances deter them. Political feathers will be ruffled, and that's fine. Innocents will die, and that is tragic, but cannot deter Israel from using this most effective counter-tactic in the "war on the terrorist tactic".
Sorry - OT again - but this looks like a big story:
Indian holy place bombed: at least 12 killed.

So by his definition, it is only inhumane when a Moslem terrorist is killed, when a Moslem terrorist murders Israeli non-combatants, well that is just part of the conflict.
Well Mr al-Bardawil, if you are not seeking mercy or immunity, then why all the whining?
Destroy all Islamic terrorists the same way the Nazi's were destroyed. Drop the "war on terror" phrase and call this what it is, a war against islam.
Note the blend of Islamic jihadist and Leftist, Stalinist rhetoric in the spokesman's words:
"the bloody, inhumane and inflammatory character of the Zionist enemy,"
How did the jihadists acquire this facility with Stalinist invective?
Moreover, it's typically cute of them to threaten to destroy Israel and then accuse Zionists of being "inflammatory."
Another thing: he uses the word "inhumane" -- being concerned with humanity and being humane are not part of their Hassan al-Banna and Sayid Qutb's heritage. The word is an absurdity in a Hamas spokesman's mouth.
I hope the army carries out Mofaz' warning. And they shouldn't stop at Haniyah. Mahmud al-Zahar looks like a suitable candidate to me.
By the way, there's an election campaign going on now in Israel. Maybe Olmert and Mofaz would like to influence votes. Most people would like to see the whole Hamas leadership dead.
Truth4u,
Did you read the entire feature at BBC? The article you posted is part of a larger page called "Muslims in Europe". The one you posted is the best article, not the worst.
All leadership and membership of Hammas should be killed, they are enemies of the state, and are legal targets. They have sworn to kill all Isrealie citizens even outside of the country, so they are legitimate targets.. bombs away!
"inhumane and inflammatory nature of the Zionist army"
How can this man say such a thing and not be laughing hysterically. They really are the most amazing people these islamic terror-mongers and people are supposed to take what they say as for real !!!!!!!!!!!!?
Read this:
At about 12:15 am on June 5, 1968, Sirhan Sirhan shot presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy in the kitchen of the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. Kennedy, who was leaving a campaign rally, was mortally wounded and died the next day. Sirhan was an Arab who had emigrated to the United States in the 1950s and was reportedly disturbed by Kennedy's pro-Israel positions. After a 1969 trial lasting nearly four months, Sirhan was convicted and sentenced to death. That sentence was commuted to life in prison and Sirhan has been in prison in California ever since; his repeated applications for parole have been denied.
Almost forty years ago, the jihad began here in the U.S., when they killed Bobby Kennedy.
Look how long we have kept this "terrorist" around paying for his welfare. I hope that won't happen here again.

Sure they can vote for whom they wish, I just find it amazing that their support for the opposition is so massive. It shows how much religion means to these peopel and it's chilling to think about what would happen to my country if they ever got a decisive influence on politics. Their support for western style democracy is only skin deep, if they could have it their way, Sharia-law would soon be introduced here.
Defender of Islam, Israel will still exist, but the Israelis are withdrawing from much of the West Bank and will put an end to the era of settlements, by evacuating most of those which still remain.
Eliyahu,
Ironically, the USSR was one of the first major countries to recognize Israel before the United States when the country was first created.
Political assassinations will only make matters worse, it would only ensue with more terrorist attacks inside Israel.
