Qaradawi to Arla Foods: Good dhimmi!

Of course, Arla had nothing to do with the cartoons in the first place, and should not have been victimized. But now that they have kowtowed and apologized, Qaradawi is magnanimous in victory. "Qaradawi lifts curbs on Arla products," from The Peninsula of Qatar, with thanks to Interested:

DOHA: Islamic scholar Dr Yousuf Al Qaradawi has stated that curbs imposed on Danish firm Arla will be withdrawn. The firm had been blacklisted by retailers in Qatar following the uproar over the publication of offensive cartoons against the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) in a Danish newspaper.

Qaradawi made the announcement at an international Islamic conference being held in Bahrain. He praised Arla’s stand for stating that there was no need to publish such cartoons unnecessarily. Because of this stand, he said that curbs should be withdrawn and the company’s position would enable the opening of the avenues of dialogue for further such initiatives.

The company had announced its position in a 52-page insert in an Arabic-language magazine. Further, representatives of the firm also interacted with the Bahrain conference attendees and made their opposition to publication of such cartoons clear....

Qaradawi had been at the forefront of protests against Danish products followingthe publication of the cartoons. Addressing a congregation in Doha on February 3, during Friday prayers, he urged people to boycott Danish goods. “Today is the day of anger, a day to express our fury on behalf of Allah and His Prophet (PBUH),” Qaradawi had said.

Buying Danish was and still is the right thing to do, but time to drop Arla from the shopping list. They'll resume getting their sales to the Arabs. Oh, and resume looking at waistlines, if you need a decent excuse.

In a publicly traded company, it is the Board of Directors' obligation to optimize stock price. This criterion is blind to politics; the only constraint put on the pursuit of stock price value is to not act unethically or break the law.

Until it is made clear in the jurisprudence that Islam is illegal and unethical, extorting publicly traded companies is an open highway for the Moslems to pursue exalted status and cultural dominance. And the scowling Moslem leadership fully understands this.

NOW DAMMIT I DEMAND AT LEAST A MILLION FRESH MOSLEMS IN USA NOW MO MO

But that won't happen. In fact, with the eager assistance of the MSM, fraudulent professors, a corrupt judiciary, and a bleary eyed permanent government, it's nigh impossible.

Affording a shifty army of your sworn enemies the rights of citizenship is a sure recipe for disaster.

MO MO MO MO MO MO MOSLEMS MO MOHAMMEDS MO CRAVEN DHIMMI POLS MO MO

Isn't a grave situation like this where politicians are supposed to come in? Where are they? Probably down at the mosque weeping quietly at the holiness of it all and accepting reverse campaign contributions.

Up off your knees you craven pols you! Here's the program: a) crack a book and dock your boat in Reality Harbor, b) apologize abjectly, and c) go away. You're no good for freedom or the USA.

Odin, that is a fair point. I drew attention to this item as a criticism of Qaradawi, rather than of Arla.

Our company has Muslim customers. I would much rather they put their money our way than towards dawa or terrorism.

odin, I'm not advocating a boycott of Arla. I'm just saying that while those of us who have been going out of our way to buy Danish (I bought a lego set for my kid, but unfortunately, it was marked Made in Denmark/Made in Austria - dhimmi Austria) did the right thing, we ought to stop doing that for Arla. If we normally buy Havarti or Lurpak, it's one thing, but if we are doing it to show those marauding Mohammedans the bird, that isn't going to be achieved by going out of our way to buy Arla.

Oh, and I'm all for boycotting products from the Islamic empire. While some, such as gasoline, is more difficult, others are easy - anytime you see a shirt "Made in Bangladesh" or a toy "Made in Malaysia", look for an alternative.

I'm not so sure. Oil money is a transfer to Muslims of unearned wealth, but goods produced by the sweat of their brow? Honest labour is good for Muslims - it keeps them out of trouble.

It is more important to stop jizya payments in the form of aid to Muslim countries.

Regardless of how it's earned, they are required to pay the zakat, which usually winds its way into terror coffers.

In case of Malaysia above, it's earned by the Bhumiputra system, which is their apartheid. So in this case, it's more than simply their sweat - it's the Infidel sweat, and their horning in on the action.

Agree with you on the jizia aid payments.

Arla isn't a publically traded company, it's a "limited responsibility partnership", owned by Danish(and Swedish, I think) milkproducers(farmers).
The owners of Arla(the farmers) are split on it's appeasement strategy. Some are outright pissed, others are extremely grateful. Some even advocate getting the hell out of the muslim world.

Furthermore, Arla is risking a boycott at home for its kneefall, as it's being seen by womens advocacy groups as an acceptance of the oppression and abuse of women in the muslim world.

lthink Arabs just missed all that real good Danish food! they cannot do without all that Western food and other goodies from the West!! l say put an embargo on Western supplies to Arab countries. let them grow and process their own food!

Ya know, am I the only one who thought Arla's havarti was a pretty poor excuse for havarti? I've eaten smoother erasers in my time.

ARLA IS SWEDISH!!

And you all know by now that Sweden and Denmark differ in many respects, most importantly with respect to the way we interpret our freedom of expression. Dhimmi Orwell lite vs. a frank exchange of views.

Long before the Mo controversy Arla was extremely unpopular with many consumers in Denmark, because of the way they treat smaller dairy producers. Many Danes have boycotted their products for years. When the Arab boycott started they gained a brief popularity, as many consumers made a point of supporting them in this difficult situation.

The sympathy they gained may well have evaporated following their advertisements in Arab media, abjectly begging for Muzzies to forgive them, as they, Arla, understand their feelings. What has outraged many here is their claim that Islam stands for tolerance and forgiveness (so won't you please, please buy or skimmed milk and cheese again, pretty please?).

I am now boycotting Arla products, and I strongly urge you to do the same.

Qaradawi was the Islamic scholar who preached hatred against Jews and gays.
