Students To Protest UNC's Reluctance To Label Pit Incident Terrorism

Protests are to be held at UNC today over the predictable reaction of dhimmi officials to Mohammad Taheri-azar's jihad attack in Chapel Hill. Of course, to label it "terrorism" is only to go partway toward where we need to go. It needs to be labeled "jihad."

From WRAL.com, with thanks to all who sent this in:

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Protests are planned for Monday in the same area of campus at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where, authorities said, a former student plowed a sport utility vehicle into nine people Friday afternoon.

The College Republicans, Americans for an Informed Democracy and the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies are sponsoring the event, scheduled for 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday in "The Pit," a central area of the UNC-Chapel Hill campus. The event is open to the public and free of charge.

Police said Mohammad Taheri-azar, a 2005 UNC-Chapel Hill graduate, admits he acted to "avenge the death of Muslims around the world." UNC police and local authorities, however, say they have not taken a stance on that interpretation, but are simply repeating what the suspect has told them.

UNC-Chapel Hill student leaders said that Monday's protest is aimed at the reluctance of the university to label Friday's incident as an act of terrorism.

"This is innocent people being attacked by an SUV, driven by a man who was doing it for retaliation for treatment of Muslims around the world," said Jillian Bandes, with the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies. "To me, that spells terrorism."

it spells it, it smells like it and it tatses like it. all bitter. Good for the students, they've got mmore balls than the people in charge.

It is not terrorism.

It is Islamic terrorism.

The label must fit the act.

The counter-demostration will be covered by the MSM. 'Islamophobia' will be the headline on CNN (if they even take notice).

howdy,

i'm sure all the local leftists are outraged. he should have been driving a hybrid.

So what is the difference between using airplanes ala 9/11 with the intent to kill peaple and using an SUV?

Who cares whether it's labeled "terrorism" or not?

The outrage isn't in what it's called, it's in the fact that it's proof of Jihad on US soil, organized or not.

We should move people away from using the word terrorism as a gentler synonym for Jihad, not toward it.

All the news that will be making news this week is in my regular feature, Monday Morning Coffee, at The Dumb Ox.

http://thomistic.blogspot.com

Note, we are not trollers or spammers, but we read Jihad Watch religiously and link posts to JW all the time. We share the same concerns, if not always the same opinions. Kindred spirit stuff.

Terrorism, jihad, or institutionalized sociopathy, I don't care what it's called.

Functionally, practically, we need to be concerned with the Muslim belief warfare is eternal, incumbent upon every Muslim, focused on world domination, and need not concern itself with the rules of warfare or human rights.

Was he yelling "Allah huakbar" when he drove the SUV into the crowd?

A friend who lives in Chapel Hill told me this: "Chapel Hill is a very upscale area that refuses to acknowledge any kind of crime problem. If news leaked out that Chapel Hill had a crime problem, UNC Medical would lose millions of dollars in tuition and government grants. Affluent people would start to leave the area and property values would drop. After all, rich people don't spend money to send their children to schools that get attacked by terrorists. Chapel Hill/UNC Medical will be crime free. That means no terrorists, no problems. Just a nice safe environment where your kids can go to get an education. That is why the school doesn't want to label this as "an act of terrorism". Nothing to see her folks, so move along. No terrorism, no Muslim fundamentalists, no Islamists. Smile. Be happy. It's business as usual."

It was just another fine example of what Islam can do for you.

lets see how many acts of terrorism was ignored by other governments, ie Clinton etc... the USS Cole, Twin Towers in early 90's, the embassies, the Marines in Lebanon, and it was topped off on 9-11.
now you have a SUV driven by a mad Iranian thug student stating he wanted to avenge muslims attacked by the US...how many times will people put their heads in the sand?

The Qur'an, the real thing, especially Sura 9, should be required reading for UNC students, especially now.

Then one might better understand why fellow students and colleagues were run over by an SUV: They are infidels, belonging to the faceless class of those who are damned to hell by Allah, the people-demons who deserve the harshest treatment if any action against Allah and Islam is undertaken.

By all means read the Qur'an, fellow Infidels at UNC, but do not read Sells' laughable commentary. Just the Qur'an itself, and take it dead seriously, which is what the Qur'an requires of you. Try to attend to the text just the way a believer would. And where do you find yourself in the text? How do you react to the extential choice: submission or damnation? What do you think you worth in the eyes of a believer who has submitted to the will of Allah and the message of the Prophet? What does the Qur'an say about you?

Considering these kinds of questions lead us behind the blank stare of the eyes that see right through you as if you do not exist. These eyes we have seen many times before, but have you understood what is behind them? Were thes the eyes behind the wheel of the SUV that aimed to murder your fellow students and colleagues.

Yes, read the Qur'an and see if you understand better the unthinkable, the unassertable, the unspeakable event that took place in your backyard.

Another case of people being too scared of insulting the guy's COLOUR to do anything about his RELIGION.

off the top of my head...

The guy who shot up the el al counter at LAX, the D.C.snipers, the halfwit in Oklahoma who blew himself up. I'm sure the people here could name half a dozen more incidents in the continental U.S. None had al queda membership cards on them. So the authoritys refused to call them terrorists.

It's like saying... "we don't know the name of the father" therefore my daughters not pregnant.

Where are the riots, flag burning, mosque torchings? Oh yeah....we're civilized.

In 2008 I will have 15 yrs in the Army and I am considering on getting out. I am considering this because when I read and/or watch the news all I see is how we bend over backwards to adhere to the people that come to America and we are slowly giving away our rights and traditions. These are my feelings........
I find it very hard to defend a nation that I am losing respect for. Please don't get me wrong....I am an American and I love my homeland. I guess I am at a crossroad where I'm not sure which direction I must take.

When I see and hear about things like this happening in the states makes me sick to my stomach. I am stationed in Ge and I will be back in the states before the end of the year and I can't wait. I just wonder where we will be sitting in 20 years.......

My thoughts exactly. All of these "isolated" instances show the same underlying ideology but the MSM marches on to the PC anthem. From what I have read from Kushner, Emerson and others...it is going to take another 9-11 or worse for even our politicians and bureaucrats to get it.

This way, they can pat themselves on the back and tell us again how they have stopped all terrorist attacks in the U.S. since 9/11. Nope, they didn't happen. It's time to loosen up our port security in the name of increased business with the Saudi emirates.

BTW, you didn't mention the 2001 anthrax attacks, which, since nobody went on tv and showed us his Al Qaeda secret decoder ring and declared "We did it, Allahu Akbar!", again it was not a terrorist attack and no-one mentions it anymore.

And I vaguely remember a 2002 bus attack where some guy chanting "Allah Akbar" stabbed the (Greyhound?) bus driver while it was going down the freeway, causing the bus to crash.

And the constant (through 2006) incidents of lasers being pointed at jets landing in Detroit, home to one of the largest Muslim populations in the U.S.

Don't worry, our leaders will eventually get this one right in spite of their best efforts. Maybe by then you won't have to be the one dealing with it.

Anyways, it's a problem with a (mostly) non-military solution. It really only requires education about Islam, and a protection of our right to discuss Islam (a.k.a. freedom of speech). It requires that we be informed about Saudi/wahhabi influence in our government and media. The best thing you can do is to lead a productive, happy life. That really p*sses the buggers off.

special guest~exactly. And the DC snipers. What ever happened to that bus driver? I haven't heard a word.

"I think (what Taheri-azar did) is extreme," said Dan VanAtta, a friend of the suspect. "But then again, I don't know what was going through his head. … Mohammed was a good guy."

They are always good guys, aren't they? Just like defending pit bulls, owners think they are all great until they turn. I wonder how his friend would have reacted if those people had died? Do you think he would still defend him to the death? Hm, Paolo?

1... they have no al queda membership card. therefore it is not terrorism.

2... they are incompetant, and didn't actualy kill anybody. therefore it is not terrorism.

3...the story never makes it to the national media. therfore it is not terrorism.

i give the feds credit. apparently they have stopped some horrible stuff. and i understand that i am not entitled to know everything that is going on. but i resent being treated like a child.

Now, you had a muder attack launched by a lone perpetrator under the guidance of a political ideology. The perpetrator announces the source and nature of his attack, but it still has to be a Magical Mystery Tour about the reason for the attack?

MORE KORANS MORE MORE HADITHS MORE SIRATS MORE MOLEMS MORE ISLAM MO

Given that the attack took place in the middle of a major college campus, here's a hint, UNC-Chapel Hill students: Forget about basketball for a few days and crack a book. The Koran would be a great start. If you wanna scare the living hell outta yourself, then the Hadiths. For comic relief, on to the Sirat. After all this reading, if you find yourself consumed by confusion and bloodlust, then move on to the various Sharia codes.

But, however your tour turns out, you'll why understand why the murder attack.

It was jihad purely and simply and must be realised as such.
Well done to the students for standing up and being counted.

Took a long lunch and got there an hour late but ontime for supposed speakers. Nice kids holding signs up. Lots of media. The kids didn't get hasseled much, if at all that I could tell. MSA didn't show up as promised.

Well then, how about labeling Taheri-azar's SUV attack Islam-inspired violence? That'll do it for me!

Someone might tell this wonderful Taheri-azar fellow that maybe the rest of the world would like to avenge the murders Islam has unilaterally (and unjustifiably) inflicted on the remainder of humanity...which must outnumber Muslims' grievances by (I'd say) at least forty to one. Two can play at his game and he may not like the outcome. As they say, "turnabout is fair play."

Any of you in Chappell Hill, carry anti-Jihad banners, and banners denouncing Islam. That way, the MSM preference to avoid the "T" word is respected.

Sorry, I overlooked the time of the event.

What ever happened to that bus driver?

Found an article. It happened October 3, 2001 in Tennesee. It was a Greyhound bus, and the veteran of the Muslim/Croat Army used a box cutter to slit the throat of the bus driver. But luckily it was not terrorism. Link here.

Another link talks about the bus driver, Garfield Sands, who survived with stitches to his neck, and who was told by Greyhound not to talk about the event. But it definitely was not terrorism.

"There is nothing to fear but fear itself."

Well, fear is definitely winning. What has happened to this great nation of ours? Have we become so watered down with spoiled-rotten rich kids and arrogant illegal imports that we no longer have the resolve that built the U.S.A. into the force for good it was and still could be?

I firmly believe that much of this can be put at the feet of our educational system. It is turning out liberal, cowardly, juvenile young adults that turn into spoiled, selfish, cowardly, lazy older adults. We'd better start speaking out on painful subjects that matter despite all these weak links or this nation will not outlast the century.

The UNC faculty decision to ignore the reality of that Islamic terrorist attack is completely predictable, but I am very pleased to see that a student body of anykind is actually becoming aware that their lives matter and that the enemy is real. This might just be the catalyst needed to start putting more useful thoughts into the heads of students on American college campuses. Let us hope the trend continues and that more students become just a tad more conservative.

It's funny, but when the real world slaps in the face, that's whenn you suddnely realize that you're not so liberal.

a retired member of the nypd coinded the name Ernest Desire the Clown from his realization of our culture's absence of an earnest desire to curb crime which also applies to our insufficient committment to wipe out terrorism. the agent of hate and ignorance behind the wheel who tried to mow down UNC @Chapel Hill students, staff, and passersby was gassed by the holy emorons from oil rich syndicates who have dispatched their pet clergy to fire up our guests without class to kill our kids. where is the vanguard of leadership in all our institutions not bent on lying prone when our termite vermin try to topple our beams of freedom? thankfully, the pockets of heroic americans in colleges nation-wide have to draw lines in the sand. mobilization against drivers of hate, ignorance, islamofascism has picked up steam. the lowest form of humans on the planet have drafted freedom loving americans new and old to pull together to fill the vacuum of leadership to suck the poisonous fangs from our bodies and minds. perhaps NASCAR can provide magnificent mohammed a hotrod and give him a headstart on the track and see how fast he moves and how long he lasts trashing our children, our freedoms, our country. after his self portait ends up on one of the hairpin turns, racers slow to a crawl and a voice from the loudspeaker says 'NEXT!'
