Swedish government funds Malmö mosque repair

From our Feeding the Hand That Bites You Department, via The Local, with thanks to Fjordman:

The Islamic Centre in Malmö is to receive three million kronor in government funding for rebuilding and repairing damage caused in the latest attack on the mosque.

The government said that the donation was based on the fact that the Islamic Centre is important and contributes to creating the image of Islam in Sweden.

"The Islamic Centre is a significant player in integration work and its work, religious, social and cultural, reaches many people in southern Sweden," said Lena Hallengren, minister with responsibility for religious issues.

Seems like jizya from the Swedish taxpayer to me.

http://fjordman.blogspot.com/2005/10/another-arson-attack-on-malm-mosque.html

Another arson attack on the mosque in Malmö, just a month after the
previous one. Will we see more retaliatory attacks, as Sweden's third
largest city continues its spiral into religious clashes?

http://gatesofvienna.blogspot.com/2006/03/war-against-swedes.html

The wave of robberies the city of Malmö has witnessed during this past
year is part of a "war against Swedes." This is the explanation given
by young robbers with immigrant background on why they are only
robbing native Swedes, in interviews with Petra Åkesson for her thesis
in Sociology. Almost 90% of all robberies that are reported to the
police were committed by gangs, not individuals. "When we are in the
city and robbing, we are waging a war, waging a war against the
Swedes." This argument was repeated several times. "Power for me means
that Swedes shall look at me, lie down on the ground and kiss my
feet." The boys explain, laughingly, that "there is a thrilling
sensation in your body when you're robbing, you feel satisfied and
happy, it feels as if you've succeeded, it simply feels good."

"The Islamic Centre is a significant player in integration work and its "work", religious, social and cultural, reaches many people in southern Sweden," said Lena Hallengren, minister with responsibility for religious issues.

The psychological word manipulation continues.

And a free knife-sharpening thrown in!

To paraphrase a great European poet:

'Where are the Swedes of Mecca?'

Mosques: Centers of sedition & subversion.

Swedish politicians: Suckers for Mohammedans

Burning mosques: Somebody doing something about it!

Government funding for repairing mosques:

Abusing taxpayers money to fund self-destruction.

And yes: Where are the Swedes of Mecca?

In no islamic country does the state provide for the buildong of churches. In fact even the churches that have beeen destroyed muslim rioters are nto allowed to be reapired.

Sweden seems to be busy immolating itself.

Islam must never be granted a place in the public square for that is its main goal.

I often ask myself why European governments continue to fall over themselves to appease people who don't even respect our cultural freedoms, let alone respecting the legally appointed political parties.

The only thing I can come up with is all of our government officials have got their eyes on that honey pot in the federalist republic of Europe, or the European parliament in lay terms.

The European parliament is more Left wing than a hippie at Woodstock. Any politician speaking against the current fad in the EU HQ would quickly find his invite filed under B, for Bin....

I'm against islamism and for non-muslim countries taking legal measures to stop immigration of anyone who wants to live under sharia law, and to deport people who promote sharia law.

I'm also against mob and vigilante violence and attacks on property. This is not the way to promote the cause for freedom, democracy and state/religion separation.

I think that Lena Hallengren should be canned and someone responsible to Sweden's well being should be hired for that position. You Swedes better hit the voting booths and quick. Get involved in the election-get involved.

religious clashes???

Give me a break. How about racist, jihadofascists targeting innocent swedes for fun and profit. Jeez.

Hey folks:

I went to friday jumah at my mosque last week and saw a very interesting thing: a section had been set up with chairs for non-muslims to sit in and observe the sermons. If you wanted to have a real impact on any of the mosques in your community, maybe your local blue-scarf chapter could set up a similar arrangement? This would likely have a substantial impact on any mosque that likes to preach "fire and brimstone", pro-jihadist sermons. The key would be to have people showing up every week, you could convince local "peace activists" to do so if you didn't feel safe doing it yourself.

Jehana says

"This would likely have a substantial impact on any mosque that likes to preach "fire and brimstone", pro-jihadist sermons".

Thank you for admitting that this type of activity goes on in the mosques of western countires. And why pray tell me, aren't members of the mosque capable of reporting this to the authorities Jehana? Is everyone scared of each other? That's very sad, and explains why we never hear a peep from the mythological moderate muslim.

At any rate, I'll pass on watching your cult perform it's rituals. Nice Dawa try though.

Calm down, folks. The mosque and the imams in Malmö belong in the more rational end of the muslim sect. In fact our danish folk hero, Abu Laban (you know, the liar who took part in inciting the cartoon rage) had plans to start his own alternative mosque in Malmö because he felt the imams over there were not living up to the muslim standards. The response from the swedish muslims was that he was not welcome and that they dont want his kind over there.

Its sad to see that so many people are too busy creating more enemies instead of looking at who can help fight the real enemies. Internal disagreement within islam can only help with the ultimate victory over those who want the caliphate, and we dont need to push even more people in that direction by blindly proclaiming them to be enemies.

ExpatriateDK. You are right.

If things happen to continue with rash reasons to pick on Muslims it will get out of hand and we will have pogroms all over Europe. That is what our governments have a great fear of.

At that point the Jihadists will have achieved one of their aims. The real clash of civilisations or the clash of civilisation with Jihadist barbarism.

Everyone has to keep their eye on the ball and smoke out the real villains.

It is a major issue because it is really difficult to pick out a moderate Muslim.

I have got the following as a simple defintion for the layman.

1. Does not believe that Sharia should be applied in this day and age.

2. Does not see Mohammed as the perfect man who they look up to above their parents as a role model and wish to emulate him in every way possible.

Which gets back to the knotty question that if they meet that criteria they are unlikely to be a Muslim.

Voltaire used this as his justification at the recent Free Expression rally in London, that some Muslims journalists who were moderate and cosmopolitan said that they saw those cartoons were a racist attack on them.

My attitude was if they see that as a racist attack on them , then they are most definately not moderate Muslims, perhaps one of them was Faisal Bodi, a journalist at the Guardian, who wrote an appalling piece on Abdul Rahman.

But anyway, vigilantism is not something I would support, leave it to the police, the army, the security services and the courts, though I wish they would do a better job of it..., it seems like they are unable or unwilling to protect the people for fear of upsetting Muslims, oh dear...

Well seems Sweden really are in the abyss, atleast the British muslims have said that freedom of expression should be allowed aslong as it does not hurt or offend. So now when they choose to express themselves by blowing themselves up, I presume they will do it in the privacy of their own homes.

Why doesn't the Swedish government just buy dog collars for themselves and begin walkin around on all fours kissing the Mohammedan's ass's and kissing their feet? Oh, sorry, they just did!

Do they not realize how they're being played with? Guess not. Mork, mork, mork!

PJ

The more you help the muslims, the more they will want!

A number of people seem under the impression that the Swedish government has anything to do with Christianity. I tried to explain a while back that this is not the case, and that the long-term strategy of the European left and of Sweden's ruling classes is to diminish the proportion of Christians in their countries. They want to destroy even the memory of Europe's Christian origins - remember Chirac refusing to mention Christianity in the so-called European constitution? For this reason they want enough Muslims in Europe to make a strong minority; otherwise, the clash is always between Christianity and dissenters from Christianity - and dissenters always lose.

The game is being played across Europe. In this context, the miseries of one Swedish town do not even begin to count. Sweden is ruled by a very tight, club-like upper class which does not encourage disagreement on principles or politics, and tends to squash dissent. The unfortunate Swedish citizens of Malmoe are on their own; their government is perfectly ready to sacrifice them on the altar of their Grand Experiment, with the applause of the other anti-Christian groups in Europe.

I know it's not Austria, I'v said it before, the hills are alive, with the sound of satanic chanting. Ah ah ah ah.

insane

I've tried to teach my children that rather than listen to what "religious" folk say, they should watch what they do. By their works shall you know them.

Paolo I couldn't quite understand whether you think the controlling Left wingers are trying to crush only Christianity or were after the bigger goal of crushing all religions?

I have to believe that the controlling powers can see what is happening about them, rising tensions and upsurges in violence, and therefore have to believe that they are trying to trigger something big.

A mighty clash between Islamic and Christian (well people perceived to be Christian, whites) peoples might very well be the catalyst for serious 'reforms' to law.

How many times have you heard someone say 'the world would be a better place without religion'.

Maybe someone at EU HQ has heard them too. Maybe it's just a paraniod thought. But it is a thought.

To MP

An extremely good point. I wish I could hear more people say that.

Daffersd:

"1. Does not believe that Sharia should be applied in this day and age.

2. Does not see Mohammed as the perfect man who they look up to above their parents as a role model and wish to emulate him in every way possible."

These guidelines seem pretty simple and straighforwards to follow, so why is it so difficult to pick out moderate Muslims? Apply these protocols to MP's advice of checking people's actions, vs their words and you have a workable formula.

I'm doing what I can to organize moderates in my community. What are anti-Jihadists doing to leverage this?

"I'm doing what I can to organize moderates in my community. What are anti-Jihadists doing to leverage this?"

Unfortunatly, too many of them are busy pointing out that anyone who fits those guidelines for being moderate are not really muslims at all. So those moderates that do exist are then scorned by both sides, making their lives harder and helping the jihadist cause.

By viewing this as a matter black or white where there are only two extremes and everyone must choose one of them, we only risk pushing more people towards the wrong extreme.

Xeno: the EU was established by Catholics (Adenauer, De Gasperi, Schuman - all three, not only Christian Democrats, but genuinely devout, too), and for a very long time was unpopular in Britain and Scandinavia for that reason. Believe it or not, it was widely regarded as a Papist tool. I am told that if you visit Ian Paisley's website you will find the old arguments there still, including an extraordinary item about how the EU flag of twelve gold stars on a blue background was borrowed from traditional figures of the Virgin Mary. For much the same reason, Socialists and Communists had no good idea of it either - they regarded it as a conspiracy of bosses and priests. Then came the sixties, Britain was (in a very bad day) let in, Denmark followed, and the left and the anti-Catholic groups decided to hijack the EU instead of trying to destroy it. After all, it was the same strategy they were trying on with the Church itself.

As to whether these guys are anti-Catholic or anti-religion, I would say that with a few prehistoric exceptions such as Dr.Paisley, the ones have morphed into the others in Europe. The French anti-clericals may have some remote Jansenist or Huguenot intellectual descent, but all they have left of their ancestors' faith is the negative - "the spirit that denies for ever." In the situation we live in, there is no difference, since the Catholic Church is the only important, living and independent religious body around. You will hear them rant about the dangers of American-style evangelism, but that is a red herring - Evangelical congregations are scarce even in England, practically invisible on the Continent. The one body they really fear is the Catholic Church. That is my reading of events.

Jehena,

ExpatriateDK beat me to it, though I did suggest that at the end of my black and white definition, you see if any Muslims does not accept Sharia or the greatness of Mohammed, or question anything else he is an apostate and the extremists will deal with him appropriately.

Can a person be moderate if they believe that Sharia has a place in this day and age. Then anyone who thinks Mohammed is the perfect man and should emulate him has a screw loose or is one of those Muslims who did not read the Quran and is only a Muslim because its cultural.

Those cultural ones are the moderate Muslims I am talking about, a number of them are secularized and will drink alcohol and have non-Muslim friends, I happen to have met a few recently, which was a bit of an eye openner, they tend to have a more open mind, but will still drop into violent denial at times. I manage to get one to admit that Mohammed was not a perfect man, hard work though.

Many Muslims try to say that they are peaceful etc., but support Sharia and revere Mohammed, they are not moderate at all.

One way is to get them to talk and tease them out, don't go in all guns blazing to get them riled up, I honed my skills on some pro-Muslims first.

I'm Muslim, I pray regularly and also read the Quran. I would assert that it is misguided for Muslims to consider Muhammed as perfect, since there is the danger of elevating a human being to the status of God, which would contradict Islam's basic statement of belief.

Anyhow, you're welcome to question me here, maybe we can determine whether I truly am "moderate" or not, and what the actual definition of a "moderate Muslim" actually is. My hope is that whatever is learned could be a tool to be used against violent jihad.

I've said it before, but here I go again:

What we need are moderate muslims who are willing to claim islam from the hands of the extremists and reform it. And dont give me those standard lines about islam being unreformable. The christian church has committed its own share of atrocities and yet it has been reformed into an entity that no longer has the power to oppress people.

Just because the quran claims to hold the ultimate truth, that does not mean its inconcievable for a person to consider herself muslim and yet not take the books content to be the ultimate truth. Obviously the very first thing such a person would disbelieve would be the part about the quran being the ultimate truth.

What we need is a muslim version of the protestant church. A movement by a huge number of muslims who refuse to listen to the current religious leaders of islam and instead found their own church. But such a movement cant happen if we insist on pushing them into the arms of the jihadists.

"also read the Quran..."
-- from a posting above by a self-identified "moderate" Muslim who may, for all I know, be tied by filial piety, and not belief, to the ideology of Islam

Ever tried the Bible? Lots of poetry in it, and much of English literature is difficult to understand without a knowlede of the Old and new Testaments. It might prove of interest.

Been reading those since being a wee girlie, my momma told me to seek knowlege from the cradle to the grave. the Torah too, 'cause my Quran said those books were holy. Oh wait. That's not the "real Islam", right? I was just taking things out of context, or maybe I got the translations wrong. riiiight.

did a little more reading after that. Some neuroscience, a bit of history, and even some Game Theory.

Ever see "A Beautiful Mind"?

A mind is a beautiful thing to waste. Better to mind the rules of the games.

Jehana,

Have you read the Quran in conjunction with the Hadiths and tried to make sense of what verse is accepted and what is subject to abrogation and does that fit with your interpretation of Islam.

If so how do you feel about the verse "No complulson in religion", has it been aborgated in your opinion.

Have you studied the teachings of one of the more extreme Muslim scholars and tried to fit that within your own understanding and belief. And how did you feel.

Have you visited Ali Sina's site and read that with an open mind. http://www.faithfreedom.org/

Have you assessed what Mohammed actually did and compared it to how you would behave.

That should do to start with.

"Been reading those since being a wee girlie, my momma told me to seek knowlege from the cradle to the grave. the Torah too, 'cause my Quran said those books were holy. Oh wait. That's not the "real Islam", right?"

Mohammed wanted to convert Jews and Christians, so he needed a base which normal laymen would understand, knowing full well that most could not read and would pick up certain key stories preached to them by people who could, as he could not read he knew those stories. Of cause its in your Quran, why not, it would be rather stupid of Mohammed if he had not said that and Mohammed was definately not stupid.

thanks for sharing your beliefs about my religion. I have saved your questions and will be answering them individually over at JihadWatch, as relevant topics come up. Keep posted!!
