Afghans rally during a demonstration in the northern city of Mazar-i-Shariff, Afghanistan March 27, 2006. In the first protest over the case of Afghan man, Abdur Rahman who converted from Islam to Christianity, several hundred people led by clerics demonstrated in Mazar-i-Shariff, demanding Rahman be tried under Islamic law. Ladies and Gentleman,
Our enemies.
Do these people ever work?
Am I the only one visualizing the effect of a few 250-pounders in the middle of that mass of soft pudgies?
Once in the Stone Age always in the Stone Age. I could envision MANY 250 pounders.
Naw, a MOAB would just blow out their eardrums in that context... or their lungs...
But 250-lb frag bouncing between those stone walls would have a magnificent effect (speaking as a targeteer) on that mob.
When does the Bible- and cross-burning start?
We are a religion of peace but if you leave you die.
If the world hadn,t put pressure on the Afgan government he would have been killed, the good thing to come out of this is the same as the cartoon affair muslims being exposed for what they are an intolerant cult.
freewoman: Do these people ever work? Why bother? They are needy and supported by our tax money. This is our tax money at work.
That's just terrible when a kind gentle faith can't pull a person apart and hang a person, just terrible!
I hope someone at a bunkered screen was saying:
"Predator drone... check."
"GPS co-ordinates... check."
"Arming Hellfire missiles... check."
They want Sharia?
Then we should simply name a new multi-purpose weapon in our arsenal: "The Sharia", and let murderous marchers like these enjoy its effect: Expunges Larval Tyrants.
(Something like an air-exploding shell of gel-spray -that mixes a beard depilatory, nausea-causing agent and whatever the strongest panic-inducing hallucinogen is in the beakers.)
Nice to see they're all holding hands in a sign of peaceful solidarity, solidarity that Abdur Rahman must be killed. Too bad this is a still photo without any audio. I'd like to hear what "Kumbahyah" sounds like in Afghan. Of course the words might lose something in the translation:
"Kill them all, my allah,
Kill them all,
Kill them all, my allah,
Kill them all"
As an agnostic I must sit and laugh at these Moslems. The Christians get around the bible by saying it was "divinely inspired" Thou GOD did speak directly to Moses. Moslems believe (completely and totally believe) Allah spoke to the angel Gabriel and (he, she, it) passed the words on to Mohammed. This is hearsay evidence. How do I KNOW Allah actually said those words?? I hear all the time that unless you read the Qur’an in Arabic you cannot understand it. Arabic is apparently the only language that cannot be accurately translated and all translations of the Qur’an in other languages are wrong. HOW do I know that when Allah spoke to Gabriel in Allah speak (which apparently angels understand), and Gabriel translated those words to Arabic for Mohammed something was not lost in the translation? Thus the Qur’an is hearsay and not the exact words of Allah, and the whole house of cards that Islam is built upon come tumbling down. If the prosecution cannot produce Allah on the witness stand to confirm his words than Islam is nothing more than a "Jim Jones" cult and the world should treat it as such.
Ahh yes. religious tolorance "Muslim" style. Gee, I can not only see the tolorance, but I can feel it. All of the love. Umm, quite lovely.
Islam the "religion of peace."
Now, why can't Christians get together like this?
Meanwhile, in Yale:
From LGF:
Source Document: The Pitch for Yale's Taliban Student
The group who facilitated Taliban spokesman Sayed Rahmatullah Hashemi’s funding and acceptance to Yale is The International Education Foundation, and here’s a PDF document from their web site that shows the fuzzy-headed fluffy bunny reasoning behind it: International Education Bridge: The Pitch for Hashemi. (Hat tip: gs.)
OUR PLAN
...is to create a learning bridge between the people who “blame us” and the people “we blame”. Learning about them as they learn about us – international education. The first phase is modest: to take one former Taliban government official from Afghanistan and get him into a top university in the United States and support his education – and understanding.
And, while at that university, this Afghan will teach about the perspective and logic that led up to the Taliban playing a part in the action against us. Behind every action is a unique perspective and rationale. When this person returns to the political world in Afghanistan – he will be changed – those who met and listened to him – they will be changed.
Rahmatullah Hashemi was the chief translator for Mullah Omar who was the head and founder of the infamous Taliban of Afghanistan. At the age of 21, he became a roving ambassador under the foreign minister – Wakil Ahmed Muttawakil - and traveled to the west as translator and ambassador. In the spring of 2001 he came to the U.S. for a series of talks to try and bridge the growing gulf between the moderate Taliban and the U.S. government.
Rahmatullah’s education is unique and extensive. His formal school education ended in the 4th grade. He speaks four languages, is married with two small children, and his hobby is “gravitational theory as it applies to astrophysics.” Only a top educational institution would consider even talking to such a unique potential student.
Meanwhile in Iran, radical clerics are actually encouraging students to study in the United States and Canada, because they know it will only harden their beliefs. (Hat tip: Penraker.)
Many of Mesbah’s former students hold places in the Revolutionary Guard’s ideological and political section. The cleric encourages students to study in Canada and the United States, which critics say does little to soften their views. Most eventually return to Qom.
I'd like to hear what "Kumbahyah" sounds like in Afghan. - special_guest
Best followed by "My Sharia" to the tune of "My Sharona."
I believe that you have this picture wrong. This is the Mazar-i-Shariff mass morris side attempting to break the world record for either the Lancre Stick and Bucket dance, or possibly a molly like Russell Wortley's Maggot. If you don't believe me google those names. Something like this http://www.silurianmorris.co.uk/gallery.htm
I'v said it before, I'll say it again. Hundreds of "men" against one MAN because he became enlightened. Wow, I'm very impressed. c.a.i.r, aren't you proud of your heritage? If I decided to convert from Christianity to islam, do they want me dead?

Does it matter? I mean over 1 billion folks believe it, and imagine the percentage of these folks who only know what they know because some silly imam told them so. A huge portion of these people get the "word of allah" third-hand, but that matters little to someone living someplace that gets hardly any rainfall, you haven't taken a bath for over a year, and your belongings consist mainly of the clothes on your back.
Convincing these folks with a "hearsay" argument is impossible, because they've never known anything else. Any other teaching is illegal, and listening to anything else is a punishable offense. You'd think that they'd wonder where their "merciful allah" is, when they are barely surviving with the water and food that they have, but apparently things haven't gotten as bad as it can get.
One more matter regarding the Bible vs the Koran is that the Koran came from the mutterings and sputterings of one person. The Bible is the result of dozens of different people, many of whom who did not have any contact with the others, but it still all fits together. Mo' often times can't get his story straight all by himself.

I can imagine the effect of a few 250-pound NFL linebackers running full-tilt into that mass of soft pudgies. They'd send all of them running for their lives.

They are vindicated, as it is Freedom and democracy in action.
Conversion is not allowed in a Muslim country. Abdul Rahman must be deemed mentally unfit or a traitor. Either way it will be painful for him.
A good article
It's Not Islamophobia When There Really Is Something To Fear:
Volokh goes on to juxtapose the attempt by Muslim officials to silence critics of Islam in the West with these attempts to murder an apostate. This represents the logic of thought control; not only must you not "change your mind" about Islam if you are a Muslim, but you must not think poorly of Islam if you are a non-Muslim. This is totalitarianism and is the greatest danger facing the West today.
http://volokh.com/posts/1143234185.shtml
but you must not think poorly of Islam if you are a non-Muslim, or we will kill you.
For those unclear, bombs dropped from airplanes start at 250 pounds, then 500, 1000, 2000, usw.
A 250 is small for a building, but for soft pudgies (aka people) in tight bunches, an ideal weapon.
I guess it takes a cartoon or the rest of the world holding people accountable for human decency for some Muslims to band together in protest. I don't remember them demonstrating after 9-11 about how the hijackers also hijacked their tolerant and peaceful ideology.
Regarding the comment about no one being able to truly understand the Qur'an since you have to know Arabic. I found this gem on the USC Muslim web site:
"Note that any translation of the Qur'an immediately ceases to be the literal word of Allah, and hence cannot be equated with the Qur'an in its original Arabic form."
http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/
If that is the case then the majority of Muslims (only 18% live in the Arab world), not literate in the "original Arabic form" (and that includes most MODERN day speakers of Arabic who have not a clue about “Quranic” Arabic) are misguided, since they are not reading "the literal word of Allah."
In my mind it's generally another smoke screen to hide behind and ward off any sort of critical analysis or accountability for an ideology of intolerance and death.
Do I need to comprehend Bayern or Austrian colloquialisms to get the gist of what Hitler was driving at? Ich denke nicht.
All the best,
Mac

I wasn't unclear about it. I just have a more vivid mental picture of a bunch of NFL-types, all decked out in their football gear, rushing that mob of 98-pounds-soaking-wet weaklings, and seeing bodies flying as if they HAD 250-pounders dropped on 'em.
Maybe it's my evangelical background, but dropping a MOAB on this confused crowd never crossed my mind. I am convinced a Daisy Cutter would be adequate.
JUST SAY NO to exile for Abdur Rahman, as he is entitled to live as a Christian in Afghanistan. Silly expectation? Absolutely, but this opportunity should be pushed to the limit. Either a man can answer the call of his God or not, and skipping away to America won't settle the question. The world needs to watch as the "little people" of the religion of peace show their true colors.
This is another opportunity to fully expose to a naive public the putrid underbelly of Islam.
.
Perhaps a link to Her Magesty Queen Elizabeth"s son so he can see what he must do if he is to be King of England and defender of the Christian faith.
I don't see any photo. Is it because I'm using Firefox?
Uncle Sam
I'm using Netscape 8 (a Firefox derivative), and no problems so far.
I'll try checking it on Firefox on my laptop.
Great !!, we found them - the long lost Moderate Moslems.
Look at them, holding hands and marching along in their pretty frocks and bonnets - what a lovely sight. No sticks, no fires, no AK-47s, none of the usual trademarks of the Islamic swarm.
They may be calling for the death of an apostate, but I'm sure they are doing so in the most moderate of fashions.
I tried IE but still don't see any picture...
Are these Muslims playing Red Rover?
Red rover......red rover .......don't send these Muslims over our border!!!!!!
IE bites, use Opera. Picture looks fine here (not speaking of content, of course).
There don't appear to be any women on the demo.
I can think of three possible explanations:
1) Women are separated from and tailing the men so we can't see them
2) The women are shut up at home
3) Afghan women don't agree with the demonstration.
I was wondering what other people made of this.
I'm feeling the luuurv and tolerance of the Religion of Peace.
If the convert moves to England, what is my bid in the fatwa for his immediate execution? Will he go for more than Salaman Rushdie?
Killing for the love of Allah! Why does a Moslem take such glee in killing an infidel who awaits a worse faith when the person is dead? If the apostate faces a worse fate when dead, does not torturing and killing him now in life, take some of Allah's merciful surprise of eternal torture away? Is it not idolatrous arrogance for the Islamist to think one is Allah's living punisher? Do Moslems think they achieve a special place in heaven for such conduct on earth? Psychopaths every one of them. Start building the hospitals to institutionalize them in.
yohannbiimu, haven't you seen all those al Qaeda training tapes played in endless loop on CNN and FOX? Them little weaklings are terrifying physical specimens... not... and ask any operator, their tactics suck, too. With you all the way.
Build a hospital?? Build a big fence around the M.E. and send them all back. Put a giant lock on the gate. Tell them if they want to kill, they can kill each other. Then pray for rain.
Mohideen, you been smokin' that camel-poop again? Or is it that black cumin seed up your nose?
Washed the devil out of your nostrils and the jinns out of your ears? And all that head-bangin' in the mosque,is that good for anything...?
I'm still having trouble with the oft repeated "small group of extremists" line. Oh, no, wait, I've got it! Look closely at the picture. Then at the pictures of similar demonstrations in other countries. They're the same guys! Yeah, they just shuttle around the world whenever a display of angry mohammedans is needed. See, there isn't a group of them in every country, just one group of dudes that are p.o.'d for a living.
Okay, my mistake.
Oh yeah, they tell me that "cut off his head" and "kill him" are just figures of speech in Arabic. They don't speak Arabic in most mohammedan countries you say? Aaaaah, we'll get back to you on that one.
"their tactics suck, too."

It is amusing to watch them hop into a room in those tapes like they're jumping out from behind a couch at a surprise birthday party. Concepts like 'fatal funnel' and 'dominating the corners' are completely lost on them. Personally, I'm glad they do that stuff. Its harder to unlearn bad habits than to learn good ones.

Well, the thing about these jihadist "martyrs" is that they're torn between two objectives--to kill infidels, and more importantly, to die in the process. I mean, islamic "martyrdom" calls it's adherents to die in the process of jihad, because it is the ONE "true" way for them to make it to paradise, and to avail themselves to all of those virgins and such.
So, living to fight another day is not such a priority. Personally, I wish they'd save us all the trouble by putting guns to their temples, and putting a bullet into it.
I get what you're saying, yohannbiimu. I just enjoy seeing that my enemies are less of a threat than they think they are, at least in a tactical context. Its hard to become a martyr when you're so incompetant that you're killed the second you and your opposition meet. I used to be in a Mech Infantry unit. Nothing was funnier than destroying all the other guys' Bradleys from a couple of km away just a few seconds after they left their FEBA. Their frustration was hilarious. And those opposition Bradley crews actually knew what they were doing.
PS-I would be willing to contribute to a fund for purchasing the head-shot ammo. I'm sure there are plenty of companies that would give them a discount.
Eisenhund wrote:

Hmmm...not being what you would call an expert on islam, I'm not sure if that is true or not. I mean, it may well be that if one's INTENT is to kill infidels, it may not matter if they're successful in order to become a "martyr."
I certainly hope that "intent" is a high priority among our jihadist foe, rather than being competent and thorough. If it is, then we can be certain that a lot more of "them" are going to push-up daisies than "we" will.
If you're still reading this, the picture worked even on Firefox.
It's probably something with your browser settings
