AN ISLAMIST terrorist sold poisoned burgers from a street-corner van and planned to contaminate beer at a football stadium, the Old Bailey was told yesterday. The alleged extremist, one of seven on trial for plotting to blow up British targets, was also said to have suggested poisoning takeaway food and sabotaging BT.The claim was made by an American supergrass said to have links to al-Qaeda, testifying against his alleged former accomplices. He said another defendant attended a talk given by Abu Hamza al-Masri, the jailed cleric, where “video wills” made by the September 11 attackers were praised.
In his second day of evidence, Mohammed Babar described his first meetings in Pakistan with three of the men, accused of conspiring to cause an explosion in Britain.
He said his initial contact with Waheed Mahmood, 34, from Crawley, was via the internet. Babar’s e-mail address was pleasureofallah. yahoo.com.
Babar, the key prosecution witness, then met Mr Mahmood at the latter’s house in Pakistan, with other British men including Salahuddin Amin, 31, of Luton, and Anthony Garcia, 24, of Ilford, East London, who are also on trial.
Fired up for jihad (holy war), the men were said to be keen to fight in Afghanistan but were told by Mr Mahmood that this was not possible — the country was closed to foreigners.
Mr Mahmood, who worked for Transco National Grid, then allegedly gave examples of possible British targets to his accomplices. Some were intended to cause maximum financial damage by hitting utilities or telecommunication plants.
The court was told that other suggestions included taking a job as a beer-seller at a football stadium, smuggling in poison in a syringe. Babar said Mr Mahmood claimed that he had already sold toxic burgers from a mobile van.
Another plan was to distribute leaflets for a fictional take-away restaurant, then deliver poisoned food to houses.
That's it. No more kebabs for me!

Something doesn't ring true about Mohammed Babar's evidence. It's all too too amateur, too juvenile -- a double-bluff perhaps, as if he's deliberately making it all seem far-fetched in order to discredit his own evidence and secure an acquittal. Just a hunch...
Yet another reason why I always advise people to NEVER, EVER trust a Muslim regardless of how nice and thoughtful they may seem.

The term "supergrass" was used in Northern Ireland to denote police informers who obtained immunity from prosecution in exchange for information.
A police informer is generally known as a "grass". This, of course, is Cockney rhyming slang - grasshopper = copper.

In the USA, instead of the word "supergrass", in the American English it would known as the word "snitch".
A year or two ago; there was a big to-do about a line of tee shirts that had the words, "Don't Be A Snitch". A number of local police officers complained that those products were seen as keeping people who needed to help them out to fighting crime from reporting or giving witness related information. This is exactly the reason I stopped going to my favorite Chinese food restaurant. They employed two middle eastern men. They came into the eating area of the restaurant and glared at the women customers and spoke unintelligible language to each other. My bleeding heart liberal husband said I was being silly for not wanting to go back. But I proposed to him, why would these men come here to this country just to wash dishes?
Back in the 90's I read a story in a computer magazine (PC Magazine?) by somebody who travelled to Pakistan. He reported encountering Muslim shopkeepers doing a brisk business selling pirated software. (The Koran says stealing is wrong, but it's okay to steal from infidels.) They kept a separate stock of software disks to sell to infidels; those disks contained viruses. (The Koran says harming strangers is wrong, but it's okay to harm infidels.)
Isn't Islam a wonderful religion? Isn't Pakistan a wonderful, civilized country? Just chock-full of peaceful, respectful, tolerant folks?

I do not believe this story. Waheed Mahmood was lying to make himself out to be a big jihadi murderers, which he was not. There are three things as wrong as a three-dollar bill about his story. First, Britain as a country is very sensitive to food poisoning scares. Any time that an abnormal number of people suffer from food poisoning, the story ends up on the front page of every paper. Waheed Mahmood would indubitably have been tracked down and convicted if he had done any such thing, like one kebab shop in East Londond that did actually turn out to be selling infected merchandise and gave several dozen customers (mostly local Muslims, in case you wondered) very nasty tummy-aches. Second and worse, Waheed Mahmood was an employee of Transco, the British Gas grid corporation. Any employee of Transco could easily find a way to murder hundreds of people - by gas poisoning by faulty appliances, or by deliberately engineered explosions - without having to go through the expense and nuisance of buying an expensive burger stand, buying and carefully poisoning hundreds of individual meat patties, and trusting to luck that the police won't shut you down before you even started. Because, third point, mobile food sellers have to be licensed in this country - that was another thing that was brought in after a scandal about unlicensed hot dog stands. Did Waheed have a license? If he did not, he could have been visited by Health and Safety people and/or the cops and been shut down on the spot - after which his product would have been sent to the labs and any poisoning would have been detected.
Do let us be serious. This was a hate-ridden but foolish man ignorantly fantasizing aloud, and trying to sound bigger than he was. Fishermen brag about how big was the one that got away; Muslims about all the Nasranis they killed. Not that these guys were not out to kill, but the way they were caught (to use another fishing metaphor) like tunafish in the net, with the police and intelligence services recording their conversations for months before they arrested them, hardly suggests that their cunning matched their hatred.

How do YOU know there weren't cases of people who suffered effects from his poisoning effects?
What makes you think anyone would assume it was food poisoning? Poisoned food is NOT the same as the bacteria that causes food poisoning, therefore they wouldn't be looking at street vendors as the source.
Think a little. The guy worked at a gas company, what was his job? A janitor? there isn't much a janitor can do if he doesn't have access to material and equipment, is there. Therefore, you must ask yourself what did he do at this companybefore you make and statements as to what he was capable of doing.
Was he even smart enough to "engineer" an explosion? What sort of "explosion" would you engineer with natual gas anyway? Other than starting a fire, and maybe blowing up a gas company building, It's doubtfull He would be able to cause much phyisical injury, which is the goal of sick, twisted Jihadists.

Whether what this guy says is true or not, it goes to show the extent of the islamist infestation's "war" methods. If there is a means by which people can be killed, regardless of who they are, or what they believe, it is "jihad," which of course is the highest calling for the members of the islamist infestation.

Thats almost funny and almost true. I would substitute the word 'trained' rather that 'taught'. Teaching requires the taught to understand something...Training requires little thought, just put the round peg in the round hole. 'Atrophy', is more of a medical diagnosis where innability to create much of worth is a mental deficiency. Islam creates psychotic episodes in believers. People in psychotic states of mind usually create nothing but trouble. So what you get is Ali Baba and the Fourty Thieves at their worst. 'Open sez me' can be translated into 'Allahu Akbar'. I have a different type of supergrass that I recommend that all Mohammedans make a stable part of their diet. It's grown in farms in Berkely and available for free in the drug-free zone on Telegraph Avenue

Justamom, next thing the fast-food joint owner would be up against a huge lawsuit for 'racial discrimination'. I'm not disputing that terrorists shouldn't be serving food (or in any other responsible job), but this is what would happen.
I think Paolo might be right - an adolescent, boastful attempt, the guy would rather go to jail than lose face! But nobody here disputes that people like that are dangerous, especially when the terrorist planners get hold of them.
I also don't think that he was telling the truth about the poisoned burgers. For the simple reason that the pitches of burger vans and the like (anybody remember the ice cream wars in Glasgow a few years ago) are so strictly run by the local criminal "firms" that any rogue van suddenly appearing would be chased off within the hour.
To succeed, and I can believe them capable of any type of murder, would mean finding an area run by a Muslim gang and getting them in on it. Which is not impossible but the more people know, the likelier it is to fail, hence the use of the cell system.
If it has been tried then he can't have made many people, if any, particularly sick or it would have come to public attention. People who eat at burger vans, especially those at football matches or rock festivals tend to have very good immune systems. I lost mine with middle age.
However this is good reason to exercise caution.
Whatever maybe the competance of this group of Jihadis, it is not the act that is important. The purpose of all islamic terrorism is to make the target society or nation live in a state of psychological fear. This fear is enabled and encouraged not just by the Jihadis but by the "moderate" muslim leaders who advise us, that if this or that islamic demand is not met, it will further enrage the already angered muslim young men.
The whole purpose is to make the Infidel nation ever mindful of muslims in their midst, and thus become paralysed. When that has been achieved, dhimmification is complete. The larger muslim population may or may not agree with this, but as they are silent, their silence helps the muslim leaders to achieve their objective.
The exaggerated claims or otherwise of this group of Jihadis serves that purpose, even without committing the terror act.

If they can afford to come over here, I would think they would have a better job. How could they immigrate to our country if all they had to offer was to wash dishes?
And on top of that.....how can they afford to live in Phoenix if all they can do is wash dishes???

Yes, that is a perplexing quandary. How is it that all these dishwashers are making it into our country and at what seems to be an alarming rate? And how many of them are illegal immigrants?
It is unpleasant and repulsive to go where one isn't wanted but how is it that we who were born here are the ones being rejected in our own towns and cities? We can be discriminated against in the name of tolerance but say something against Islam and the incessant whining begins.

I'm new here, but I totally hear what Isabellathecrusader is saying about us native Brits being discriminated against.
There seems to be the bizarre ideological standpoint amongst the British people that there is no such thing as racism against whites. Muslims can say whatever they like about us and if we complain then it's not PC to do so. However, if we dare to speak out against some of Islamic ideology (such as sharia law, honor killings and the like), we are deemed 'racist'.
I don't see a problem with muslims being allowed freedom of religion, I do see a problem when they wage jihad on our culture. The muslims claim to be here because they want a better life, which considering where they come from is a very understandable thing. HOWEVER, what they fail to consider is that our success as a country is due to our culture, and should they destroy that culture then they will create the same problems here that they were fleeing from in their native homeland.
Doing nothing about the massive immigration of muslims into the UK is ethnic Darwinism on our part. The muslims breed much faster than whites (or anyone else for that matter, as their religion prohibits contraceptives measures), and the most likely result will be the eventual demise of not only the UK, but Europe as a whole:

The leftists have brought into the whole 'all cultures are equal', and yet simultaneously claim to be pro-human rights. How anyone could believe such conflicting statements is beyond my capacity to understand. After all, how can a culture that does not respect human rights be equal in value to one that does? There is another nitpick I have about PCness, you either have freedom of speech, or you have restrictions of what one can say so that nobody is offended. It is not possible to have both. Some places now sell 'holiday trees' instead of christmas trees... in case it offends muslims.
Appeasing the enemy does not work, and mark my words, our people are under attack. The worst of it is, most of the British people do not even realise that we are right in the middle of a racial war, and that we are sorely losing.
I am not racist against muslims, but I wish that the PC crowd would wake up, and I wish that the muslims would stop trying to destroy our culture and start to embrace it. After all, they could have chosen NOT to live here if they were that opposed to our way of life.
