I've come acrss this article in Foreign Policy which suggests that over 50% of Muslims support terrorism. The article also suggests that Muslims in general consider themselves victims. That is why many British Muslims, who have every privelage and right that other Britons do, and who benefit greatly from social assistance, free medicare and Muslim-friendly immigration policies, nonetheless support extremism against fellow Britons.

JW regulars know that deeply religious has a totally different Islamic connotation than with regards to any other belief. Deeply religious, in the minds of people who know not much of Islam or regard it as just another religion, conjures images of Mother Teresa or Dali Lama or processions of Bhuddist monks or Orthodox Jews praying at the wailing wall or Rastafarians sititng on the beach in Jamaica passing a bong around with sonme Reggae in the background, ya mon. When applied to Muslims, deeply religious means fanaticism and fatalism, not piousness.

Not precisely on topic, but related, David Aaronovitch's very interesting piece in the Times On-line on Guantanamo and the absurd film made about the poor trio of Muslim lads from Tipton who went off to attend a wedding in Pakistan (typically, these celebrations take months) and made a side trip to Afghanistan to do "aid work" only to be captured by the Northern Alliance and handed over to the US authorities and transferred to Guantanamo. The filmaker omits to tell viewers that the trio was viewed as suspicious as they were attendees at the Binori Mosque, described as "the alma mater for jihadis" and that they were present in Karachi at the time of a bombing incident or that their local imam was Sheikh Abdullah al-Faisal, who was imprisoned for calling on Muslims to murder Jews. This does not make the Tipton Three members of the Taliban, but it does suggest that authorities had reasonable and probably cause to treat these men as suspects.

Students huh, any chance terrorism is just homework? I did like the deeply religious part of the article. Driving home today I saw a 4ft-crusader statue in front of a home. It made my day, yes I did stop to find out where they got it but no one was home. I left my number. I think we should all get one, tacky, provocative and blatantly disrespectful to muslims sounds perfect doesn’t it? It seems the muslims always call our military “crusaders” it seems only right I encourage their studies in historical conflicts.

It is fair to assume that this demographic growth rate is mirrored in the muslim community in Europe, and the West in general.
From the table one can surmise an average rise of 3.5% or a doubling of the population in 20 years. Assuming a muslim population in Britain of 5 million, muslims will reach parity in 50 years or so. Long before that I predict civil war and partition.
Oh what a legacy to leave our grandchildren.
