A welcome bit of anti-dhimmitude from Washington. Let's hope it lasts. From Reuters, with thanks to JE:
THE United States has ordered its diplomats and contractors to cut off contacts with Palestinian ministries after a Hamas-led government was sworn in, the State Department said today.A directive, distributed to diplomats and other officials in the region by email, instructed them with immediate effect not to have contacts with Hamas-appointed government ministers or those who work for them, whether they are members of the Islamic militant group or not, officials said.
Hamas is formally committed to the destruction of Israel and is classed by the US government as a terrorist organisation. It won a landslide victory in Palestinian parliamentary elections in January.
"We will not have contact with members of Hamas, no matter what title they may have," said State Department spokesman Sean McCormack.
No direct contact is allowed.....but indirect, third party arrangements will continue with terrorist states. We have seen this many times in other parts of the world.
Opportunists (Russians, etc.) who think they can manage Hamas through economic entanglements will soon see that the Palestinian terrorists are immune to economic bribery. The dough just winds up in a Swiss bank account and the terrorists go on their merry jihadist way. "Thank you very much for your jizya payment Mr. Western Infidel. Now don't bother me I've got these pesky Jews to exterminate."
It remains to be seen whether US diplomats will in fact refrain or avoid contact with Hamas officials, or with persons appointed by Hamas to be officials of the "palestinian authority." But if the US wants to seriously demonstrate its disapproval to the Hamas of their ideology and practice, then the US must forbid those "non-governmental organizations" which are so influential in shaping US foreign policy, from making contact with the Hamas. If these NGOs, such as Amnesty Int'l and the Ford Foundation, do not cease contact with the Hamas then Hamas will not feel any need to change any of their ways.
Watch like a hawk the efforts of the apologists for the "Palestinian" cause insisting on all the benefits to be achieved from dealing with Hamas ("two-state solution" etc.). No mention of the war against Israel as a Lesser Jihad, prompted --as the chants in the opening session of the "Palestinian" "parliament" (two sets of quotation marks were called for, for each word deserves to be called into doubt)-- will ever cross the minds of such people. They are in the business of promoting the Arab agenda, however they manage with such seeming sweet reason they disguise that undisguisable hostility.
There is Robert Malley of the International Crisis Group, who knows nothing about Islam and has no intention of finding out about it, for if he really did, and connected dots, he could not continue to promote the notion that more and more yielding of territory by Israel could conceivably lead to a permanent peace; it can only lead to a hudna, to be broken whenever Israel appears weaker, and the more territory it yields, the more likely it will appear to be weaker.
There is, at a still more sinister level of intrigue, Alistair Crook -- about whom you should google ("Alistair Crook" and "Jihad Watch") and find out all about this former British security operative who now runs a
"consulting business" in London having to do with the Middle East. Can you guess who his grateful clients are?
Some happy anti-dhimmitude news from the newly elected Harper government in Canada, which is withholding monies normally paid to the PA until such time as Hamas ends terror operations and recognizes Israel.
Part II of the shoe-dropping exercise will be when the plug gets pulled on UNRWA, which probably has a large contingent of Hamas members among it's 25,000 "Palestinian" employees.
Yesterday the Canadian Governemnt announced the cutting off of financial aid to Palestine for non-humanitary programs such a the political wing of Hamas.
Bravo, finally Canada gets a Government that will no longer send tax dollars to tyrants and terrorist based Political parties, several months back i posted a comment predicting a paradoxical irony for Palestine because when Hamas or any violent party came to power it would then default to a "Terrorist producing nation" according to the new standards for the War-on-terrorism .
The funding would be cut off and sanction would be enforced,so all those people rejoicing over the hamas victory will rue that day when they're going to bed on a empty stomac and can't get jobs in that evil Nation called Israel.
Just because the Hamas used democracy to come to power doesn't mean we have to agree with the peoples choices and continue funding this Government . If only Hitler and Germany was treated so swiftly for the rise to power as a facist Party that started a pattern of hate in 1934 and lasted to 1945 .
As a Canadian I'm glad we took this stand and hopefully our new Prime Minister won't cow-tow to terrorist like the Liberals did with the Khadr family that's now in Canada living off welfare while praising the 9/11 hijackers for murdering 24 of our Citizens that day along with 3000 others.
Good!
Now let's see them punch their way out of this paper bag!
