We are already in the midst of the third world war. The 9/11 attack on the World Trade Centre marks the beginning of this war. It is going to be a long-drawn out affair. The Islamists are waging a multi-pronged attack. The most important facet is violence/terrorism as demonstrated in Spain, England, Indonesia, India etc. The other one is changing the demographic character of any region, wherever they manage to enter. An imam (I forget his name) has made it very clear recently in Denmark that they intend to take over Europe eventually. There is no answer to this strategy. Time is on their side and ultimately they can be expected to win, particularly because the population in the Western world is dwindling.

WWIII began long before 9/11. Ir started with the Iranian hostage crisis, and continued on with attacks such as the Beirut Marine Barracks, the '93 World Trade Center Bombing, the Khobar Towers, the African Embassies, the U.S.S. Cole, Black Hawk Down and of course, Isreal. It continued on after with events such as,the murder of Theo Van Gogh, Bali, Beslan and the 7/7 London bombing. It's just that the West is still asleep. One of the few meaningful couterstrikes was on Flight 93, when those "burger eating cowboys" fought back and defeated the defenders of Islam and caused the plane to crash in an empty field in Pennsylvannia. Will somebody give the West a meaningful alarm call?
The Bush Administration fails to see this. Instead, it wastes American lives, hundreds of billions of dollars (which, had it gone into alternative energy projects, would have done far more to diminish the power of Islam, and the ability to support the various instruments of Jihad, world-wide than would any conceivable outcome judged a "success" by the Admninistration, on its own innocent and obstinate terms, in Iraq).
There is a world-wide war. It is not a war to promote Islam. It is a war to undercut the ability of Infidels to resist the spread of Islam. Terrorism is not its only or even main vehicle. When that idiotic phrase "war on terrorism" stops being used, and instead the war of self-defense against the Jihad -- a war to stop the Jihad -- is properly named, confusion will lift. The "war" is not mainly one of military force -- though that can be brought to bear, repeatedly, as the occasion demands, to insure that Muslim states do not acquire major weaponry.
The main problem is that of men's minds. The minds of Infidels have to be filled with knowledge about Islam, its origins, its texts, its tenets, its attitudes, its atmospherics. The minds of Muslims have to be filled with the realization that taqiyya-and-tu-quoque will not work, that the world is learning too much about Islam for the mixture as before. And the further change in Muslim minds will have to come from within, and will occur slowly, as the conditions are created -- by the removal of Infidel aid and Infidel military, financial, diplomatic, and all other kinds of support -- that will force Muslims, bottled up as much as possible in their own world, to have to make the connections between the nature of Islam as a belief-system and the political, economic, social, intellectual, and moral failures of Muslim states and Muslim societies -- precisely to the extent that they follow Islam. That realization will take a long time. It can best be accomplished by removing or diminishing the false props -- such as OPEC oil money and foreign aid -- that delude Muslims into thinking they are succeeding. They are failing, and failing not despite Islam but because of Islam, and its habit of mental submission and inshallah-fatalism.
Let that become clear, the way members of the Communist Party in the Soviet Union began to make the connection between the Communist system and the failures of the Soviet Union.
Not to get too picky about terminology but a few years ago I read an interesting paper by someone in the U.S. military. He stated that we had already passed through (and won) WW III which was the cold war and he termed the current war on Islamic fascism WW IV.
As long as our leaders and the useful idiots on the left keep bleating on about "Islamophobia" and the religion of peace, building bridges and appeasement in return for oil, we are on a hiding to nowhere and will see armed insurrections all over Eurabia with the willing participation of the blinkered fools who are supposed to be our poliical masters, the media and the soft liberal left. Thank you patriot2, I still stand by what I said. I lived in Germany for 4 years out on the economy with the citizens, and yes while there are many hunters and whatever, it's the average citizen that I am speaking of. I read a study put out by the FBI back in the eighties that put a conservative estimate of between 4 and 8 weapons per average american household, they wouldn't even attempt to guess at how much ammunition because of reloaders and people who love to stockpile. Having only lived with German's and having asked them these questions, these things are very tightly controlled and licensed out the wazoo. It's not a fantasy and it's my God given right to protect myself, my children, my home, my property and my country.
This is our time to show to Islam that we are not weak. I think this will be our great wake up call. Eradicate Islam from west countries, before Islam eradicate you. The world is certainly changing. Not many people are calling it a World War yet, but they didn't call the first or the second that for a while either. In my lifetime, I doubt not that civilians will have to be armed to defend themselves against the jihadists who will cetainly be wandering the streets, ready to kill any non-Muslim they encounter who refuses to convert. By the end of the century, the entire world will be nothing but a battle ground for this "holy war" already being fought in the Middle East.

I think that what we are facing is not so much war as what might be called grand policing - forcing law down millions of unwilling throats, and trying to put an end to a virtually infinite amount of low-level violence. The anti-war party in the US make a fuss about having lost 2000 soldiers in two years of Iraqi occupation; in a real war, that is what you would reckon to lose in hours of a serious battle. At the battle of Cannae, Hannibal, with no more advanced technology than swords, killed 73,000 Romans in eight hours. What is going to have to happen - and I have said this time and again - is the re-colonization of the Muslim world. Increasingly, Islamic nations are losing their independence, having to answer to Western governments for matters such as religous policy, internal order, and even the basic principles of their own laws, on which any independent country would not tolerate suggestions. The fact that Abdul Rahman has been forced out of the grip of Afghani law, and will probably soon be smuggled out of Afghanistan, in the face of the united will of Afghanistan's "classes and masses" is a harbinger of things to come. The abuse of Christians and Jews, and eventually of Zoroastrians and Baha'i, will become more widely known - as it already is in Italy - and pressure from Western public opinion to act more serious. And the more the Arab and Muslim rulers lose power from below to their extremists and madrassas and militias, the more they will lose it from above from Western "allies" concerned at disorder and the fostering of terrorism. This war truly began in the mid 60's. The PLO started targeting US and Israeli citizens in airports and cruise ships etc. We have let these barbarians pull their sh** too long. Just to add to the stockpile. But last week I noticed the price was up about 50 percent. Looks like we've been using a lot overseas. And copper (hence brass) is at really high prices. I guess my inventory has appreciated, a nice side benefit to the preparations.

Paolo, I did not know this. I knew guns were prohibited in Britain and I thought they were also banned in most of Europe.
I guess the reason I thougt this is because whenever the idiots at the UN start muttering about "gun control" again, they always seem to be directly addressing America. I figured we were the last bastion of uncivilized, gun-toting, homicidal outlaws left besides the Islamic world. I would like to see the UN take their guns away.

JewishGirl, I think basically you are right. I grew up in Germany, and am not aware of anyone I knew owning a gun. Having read about the gang rapes in Sweden and France, I wish every woman in those countries carried a gun!

I have found that when I bare bear arms or is that bear arms in the bare, the flashs can be very baring so generally bare arms without being bare unless your like exposing your shots.
To those who say that this is World War 4 instead of World War 3; World wars 1 and 2 were hot wars. The cold war doesn't count as a world war because it was a cold war, so you can't call it World war 3. This is now world war 3, and it will definately be a hot war.
