Yes we did suicide attacks, but we are not terrorists

Bridge for Sale Alert. Hamas, evidently believing that it really could lose some funding from Western dhimmis, is now singing a moderate tune. All that in the Hamas Charter about destroying Israel? Empty talk! Killing Israeli civilians, which killings Hamas celebrated at its website up until a few years ago? Deplorable!

Only the most foolish and eager to be fooled will fall for this -- which probably includes the State Department and Downing Street.

From the Sydney Morning Herald, with thanks to JE:

Aziz Dweik, the Hamas-nominated Speaker of the council, sits in his office juggling mobile phones, all with a different piece of stirring music as the call sign. He has the air about him of a politician enjoying his victory.

Dr Dweik, by way of introduction - warm, smiling, welcoming - wants to make it clear that the Hamas cabinet consists mainly of people like him, professionals and academics, some of whom, like him, have studied abroad.

The idea, he says, that Palestinians are all ignorant terrorists is a lie cooked up by the Israelis and the Bush Administration.

Dr Dweik, a longtime Hamas member and leader, studied for his PhD at the University of Pennsylvania and has fond memories of his time there. He professes great affection for many Americans and says some are still his close friends....

He goes on to say that he does not want to throw the Israelis into the sea, not at all. He values human life and Hamas has stuck by its declared truce and will continue to stick by it.

If Israel came up with a deal that offered Palestinians a true state, that too would be considered.

"In the meantime, we have work to do, laying down the ground for real democracy and transparency and getting rid of corruption. That is our first priority. We want to repair our economy. Then we must give our people some measure of social justice. And we want to promote international peace. We want international support.

"OK, yes, it happened, we did suicide attacks but now there is a truce. We deplore any action where civilians are killed, yes, including Israeli civilians. We are a moderate Islamic movement. We are not terrorists. We are freedom seekers. Please, tell your readers, please help us secure this goal."

"For a believing Muslim, to create is a rash and dangerous act." -- Daniel Boorstin, The Creators, p.69.

I don't remember anyone calling them ignorant.

Will the present Neville Chamberlain, please step forward...

Dear Robert

Superb site. I notice the following on BBC in respect of the Arab League Summit in Sudan:

The summit's host, Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, used his inaugural address to praise January's Palestinian legislative elections and to denounce Israel and the West for threatening to cut off aid to the Palestinian Authority after the victory of the militant group, Hamas.

"We call on the international community to respect the will of the Palestinian people and fulfil its responsibility to support the Palestinian government which came about through free and fair elections."

Mr Bashir also called on the international community to force Israel to stop "state terrorism" against the Palestinians.

Sudan is also hoping for Arab support in the continuing conflict in the troubled western region of Darfur."

How about calling on your own Government to stop the state terrorism and racism against the people of Darfur.

This slimeball belongs on All Star Wrestling.

But on All Star Wrestling we know it is fiction.

What's the difference here ?

This puke will kill you if he got the opportunity.

Now there’s a good one! They want to repair their WHAT??? …their “ECONOMY”??? Novel concept, that. The “palestinians” have an “economy”! Would like more details about it. For example, of what does it consist, primarily? I suppose something other than languishing in the “camps” for generations waiting for one to be handed over, pre-made? Seems that didn’t work either last time …unless you count the scrap material salvage value garnered from tearing up the greenhouses. Couldn’t be confusing the Israeli economy, in which some of them work for the only non-martyrism, non-tape-a-bomb-to-me-and-blow-me-up paychecks available in the area, for “their” economy… could they? Entrepreneurialism, Economic Vitality, Dynamic Creativity, Competitive Productivity = palestinian? Think I’ll double-check that against the entire world history of all middle eastern societal accomplishments and contributions to mankind …hold-on …this’ll take a second …

It's times like this where I think of the crowd of thousands at the end of the "French Revolution" section of Mel Brooks' History of the World, Part I yelling "bull----!"

Precisely that emphatic a response is in order.

Posting the same damn thing in multiple threads over multiple days is bad form.

As is writing in all caps.

Coming soon from the Shinoliite Press: The Shinoliite Manual of Style, by Shinoliite (with a grant from the Department of Redundancy Department).

Shinoliite-Redundancy isn't alll bad. Remember that Yogi said, "repitition is the mother of learning."

In the spirit of Yogi:

I actually heard the Rollong Stones song "You can't always get what you want" played with the new words "Islam is a religion of intolerance" yesterday. In the new version the Vienna boys choir intones "Islam is a religion of intolerance, Oh Islam is a religion of intolerance, and if you are tried sometime you get what you don't need...." And the song goes on about bloodstained hands and such....

Truth4u,

As you say yourself, such a scheme would "create havoc", and I doubt Robert, even if he had the time and the money to do as you suggest, would want to do that.

And it's not as if these people need prodding to show themselves up for what they are, anyway. They can do it all by themselves. There are instances appearing as new items up here every day.

I guess if you want to make a suggestion direct to Robert you might be better to use the contact form at the left, because he's said he's sometimes too busy to read the boards.

Amazing how "principles" fly out of the window when there's some cash to be made out of the gullible useful idiots who keep coughing up for this depraved regime.

Reminds me of a Soviet bigshot at the height of the cold war sitting behind his desk topped with 10 telephones. The number of telephones on one's desk back then was directly proportional to one's importance and influence in the corrupt Soviet bureaucracy.

londongirl-

You are so right. Erric Hoffer once said something to the effect that every cause for "the people" begins on supposedly sacred "principle," but eventually turns into a business, and finally ends as a racket.

When The Hamas leadership drops the 'destroy Israel' stuff from their charter, and the PA does the same, they might be worth listening to...untill then, they are all terrorists. This guy, (ANOTHER muslim doctor), is as full of 'it' as any of the rest of them...he tries to sound like he has good intentions, but another Prophet has already said that the road to hll is paved with good intentions. But of course, they dont listen to 'that' Prophet. Only Mohammad needs to be obeyed because he was the last and most perfect Prophet. Dont let Bush or Condi read his words, they will want to send him a check, a big one...

"Every great cause," said longshoreman-philosopher Eric Hoffer, "begins as a movement, degenerates into a business and ends up as a racket"

Who care if they say we want a state solution to some BBC correspondent? Will they say it at a Friday prair, will they say it all of the speeches in Arabic, will they say it as their official position on Al-Jazeera? And lets say they do, don't you know anything about Sharia? It permits lies in the times of war if it is meant to produce an outcome permissible under Koran, which is defending "muslim" land. If it is meant to produce an outcome obligatory under Sharia, against spreading islam and defending muslim lands, they must lie to in order to accomplish that objective.

If the Egyptian arabs referred to as palestinians wanted a two-state solution, they would not have elected a terrorist group, but a politician to negotiate the best terms. They want to kill Jews and Christians and take over all Israel because that is mandated by Sharia. Which part is confusing here. If they are true muslims, that is that they must do.

Why in the hell does the US and EU give them money? Why is Egypt the second largest recepient of US foreign aid and together with Jordan, they recieve as much as Israel? Half of Palestinian GDP is foreign aid. I mean, even homeless people make don't live solely on donations. Stop the aid, let's see if Arabs really care about them and will put their money their their mouth is. The arabs will not give them any money and this "vehement" verbal support for poor Palestinians will be a non-issue since they will not help them at all. Let's expose the lying nature of an arab and let them take care of their palestinian brothers.

Me neither, so for the record:
"They are ignorant"
Mr Ape Pig

If the Palestinians would cease and desist all terrorist activity the free world would give them virtually everything they want. Lord knows the world loves a victim. Only an ignorant terrorist would fail to see that

"please help us secure this goal" hmm, I think we all know what this goal is, though he doesn't specify.

It always amazes me how vague and slippery the newspaper quotes are when they interview islamist leaders, and how weak the journalists are in not insisting on precise meanings.

Shinoliite - I don't mind a little bit of repetition if it is important, because new viewers are always coming in and may not have seen the previous posts.

Regarding caps, using them is MUCH quicker and easier than the hassle of creating URL bold

Yes, our NZ government is just talking about a free trade agreement with gulf states. When asked about the human rights aspect, the Trade minister said that if we didn't trade on those grounds, we wouldn't be able to trade with 2/3 of the world, and that we raise human rights issues through the UN.

I guess your governments are just as 'principled' about trade. While the countries in question threaten/implement boycotts on the grounds of a few cartoons, stifling our freedom of speech. I'm sickened.

Sorry, technical hitch

Don't be fooled - Hamas is simply following Yasser Arafat's two-faced example!!
