After Ibrahim Hooper finishes his mission in Baghdad, he will need to book a flight to Algiers, in order to explain to these mujahedin that murder does not demonstrate the greatness of God.
Of course, as far as I know, Hooper (the spokesman for the Council on American Islamic Relations) is not going to Baghdad or Algiers. But stories like this, which we have documented in abundance here since the site began in October 2003, demonstrate that his loud protestations that Islam is a religion of peace and only bigots think otherwise are hollow: he may find it easy to convince Western non-Muslims that Islam is peaceful, but let's see him try to convince the mujahedin of Iraq or Algeria or anywhere else.

SUSPECTED Algerian Islamist militants shouting "God is Greatest" killed 13 customs agents in the north African oil producer's southern desert, a customs official said.The official, who declined to be identified, confirmed media reports today that said the 13 were killed, and 10 wounded, in an ambush yesterday on a party of customs officials travelling in a convoy of all terrain vehicles 200 km from the country's biggest oil producing town of Hassi Messaoud.
One agent was also reported missing after the ambush in the southern province of Ghardaia, some 700 km southeast of the capital Algiers, state radio said.
It was the worst attack by suspected Islamist militants since the launch of an amnesty for rebels aimed at ending more than a decade of conflict in the OPEC oil-exporting country.
Those killed included senior customs officials including the regional director of the national customs service, Abdelkrim Khebouza.
Customs officials play a key role in security in the south, where groups of Islamist gunmen are believed to maintain links with bandits who run cross-border smuggling networks across Africa's Sahel region.
Independent newspaper El Watan said the assailants were chanting "God is Greatest" during the attack on the agents who were heading for the oil area of Ouargla to attend a seminar.
More horror. I really hold Cooper, or anyone else, in any denomination, that provides cover for these lunatics by not changing things from the inside of their religion as part of the problem.
The murdering Jihadists are Islam's responsibility, just like the child molesting priests are still Chrisitanity's responsibility. It's people like Hooper who keep the cloak of religious respectability up to shelter the radical's murdering of innocents.
Why he is not as vocal about the atrocities commited by Muslims as he is about the good works done by Muslims, only contributes the perpetuation of the problem.
The accusation of bigotry is simply a pre-emptive attempt to disqualify anyone who wants to challenge him. That way noting is discussed reasonably and the facts are not put out in the open.

DEBKA-Net-Weekly 242 of Feb. 17, 2006, covered US defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld’s mid-February visits to Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia, to pull North and West Africa together for a revival of the Trans-Sahara Counter-Terror Initiative.
He acted in response to the mounting threat of al Qaeda and its offshoots from bases scattered among local tribes in the Sahel belt and the Sahara desert. The fundamentalist terror group designates this region Zone 9.
Al Qaeda’s main instruments of operation in the region are the Algerian Salafist Group of Preaching and Combat – the GSPC and the North African Jam’a in Morocco.
This week, DEBKA-Net-Weekly reports, affirmative responses to Rumsfeld’s plan were received in Washington from Morocco’s King Muhammed VI and Algerian president Abdel Aziz Bouteflika. The two rulers gave the US government the go-ahead for the establishment of what would amount to a special inter-African response force for counter-terror operations in Zone 9.
Our sources run down the first steps planned for the coming months.
A joint African command will be set up to supervise logistical and intelligence collaboration for the anti-al Qaeda war among nine nations – Chad, Niger, Mali, Mauritania, West Sahara, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Senegal, and possibly Libya at some stage.

Most of the high ranking officers will be Algerian. They adamantly insisted on having the top positions so that their president could be seen by his people to have secured every possible mark of respect for Algerian national dignity.
That took care of the outer aspect of the force. In practical terms, it will be run by American and French officers. The Moroccans, who found it hard to swallow the high ranks awarded Algerian officers, were compensated by a secret pact concluded with Rumsfeld for Algerian officers to be barred from the disputed territory of West Sahara and for Moroccan officers to command field operations alongside their US and French counterparts.
The Americans agreed to deploy satellites for surveillance of the 3,000 sq.mile territory. Incoming data will be passed on to Moroccan and Algerian intelligence units working with the special force and its coordination center.
Algerian and Moroccan air forces will conduct patrols and surveillance. They will swap the images and intelligence data each of their flight crews gathers from the ground.
All the African governments which joined the anti-al Qaeda initiative agreed to Rumsfeld’s proposal to draw up a treaty as a sort of road map for joint combat to eradicate terrorism from the Sahara and the Sahel regions. The precise practical steps for preventing al Qaeda from settling in those regions will be outlined in the document.
The US secretary of state and ambassadors conducting the negotiations with local leaders quickly discovered that the entire counter-terror project would stand or fall by an extensive US economic aid program. Washington saw there was no way out of offering the African participants a kind of Marshall Plan. The cost of this program plus the outlay for setting up the inter-African counter-terror force could run to $2-3 billion over the next five years.
Rumsfeld and the ambassadors were informed bluntly that al Qaeda’s West and North African networks are rolling in ill-gotten cash from crime and dope smuggling. They have millions of dollars to spare for bribes to buy the services of local military and intelligence agencies for derailing the American initiative.

Recently on US-TV I watched Ibrahim Hooper from CAIR telling this story, which you call bogus in a debate with Mr. Mohammed Asadi.
I was looking for this story in the Koran and other sources, but you are quite right, there is nothing. Would Hooper go on national TV and tell outright lies about Mohammed? I wouldn't put it past him. I'm only puzzled that nobody refuted him.

As children we used to read that once Ali the butcher wanted to behead a man and that man spat at his face. So Ali did not kill him. When asked why, he replied that he spat on my face which made me angry and I did not want to kill him out of revenge. I only kill "in the way of Allah" (as if this is okay). Recently I found out this story was an old samurai tale that the Shiites have plagiarized. Muslims are shameless liars..."
