Clashes broke out between Muslims and Coptic Christians in Alexandria in Egypt, after the funeral of a Coptic worshipper killed in church on Friday.Police fired tear gas and tried to separate the groups, who threw stones and attacked each other with sticks.
This followed the funeral of Nushi Atta Girgis, 78, who died after being stabbed in one of three knife attacks at Alexandria churches.
Christians have accused the government of failing to protect them.
Mourners shouted anti-government slogans as the funeral procession - attended by an estimated 3,000 people - turned into a protest outside the church where the funeral was held.
At least 15 people were injured and four vehicles were burned out, an interior ministry source said.
'Crushed by Muslims'
The government has announced the arrest of a "deranged" man it says was responsible for all the attacks, but some Copts believe they were carried out simultaneously as part of an anti-Christian plot by extremist Muslims.
A judge remanded Mahmoud Salah-Eddin Abdel-Raziq, 25, into custody.
"Certain papers speak of a madman. I don't believe a word. It is propaganda to silence us and to make us believe it is an individual incident," said Karim, a 78-year-old Copt at the funeral.
"We have always been peaceful, but we are always crushed by the Muslims," said 30-year-old Girgis Mina. "If the state does not protect us, we will do it ourselves."...
Some Copts argue that previous attacks on them have gone unpunished or have drawn light sentences.
l will copy this and fax it to the local paper, and say next time some one from a muslim group wants to say how oppressed they are in the West, l will say whan was the last time one of your people was killed on the way to their mosque!
Somehow, nothing but the ascension to power by the Muslim Brotherhood will force the West to take of its blinders to the Jihad that is actively on in Egypt. Sad that the Copts have no other country to go.

From someone who knows the sad stories of several Coptic asylum seekers: I ask you, did this country "lose its freaking mind" sending oppressed people back to hell and bringing in the oppressors!!!! The reports keep streaming in about fanatical Muslims and useful-idiot Dhimmis who are completely hostile to Christians and wholly sympathetic to the most fanatical Muslims controlling the asylum and immigration process. The other day I saw on american tv an iman in the bay area, they call him the modern iman. He was playing up how he was modern and tolerant. And the first thing out of his mouth was"there is a misunderstanding people in the middle east think the west is on a christian crusade to convert the middle east to christianity, i hope they are wrong of course" I wanted to spit at my tv. the lying sob there is no way anyone thinks that. This deranged story has been going on for too long. Insanity is just a lousy excuse for their behaviour. What if this muslim man is proven insane in the courts, sent to asylum, six months down he is declared mentally fit, would he be tried for the murder or let loose? In the UK at least and in Europe, we have had several attacks were a so-called “deranged” Islamic man goes berserk on the population. Often when they go crazy - they usually pick up a knife or sword and head straight for a church, to exact their madness – or is it to carry out their religion instruction.
Perhaps we can take some comfort - that for now - it is only the “madman” of Islam, who is crazy enough to carry out this religious instruction.
when a muslim attacks and kills non muslims, he is called deranged..only the non government non pc people know its islam! l know of a doctor from Nigera immigrated to my area, with her family and husband. she goes to a Christian church, a friend of mine who works with her, never grew up with any religion, she is now going to church with this doctor. any how her sister also clueless is reading the koran, so l asked her to talk to the doctor from Nigeria, about islam and Christianity..the Doctor said NEVER Islam! and proceded to tell her of atrocities committed by these people of the religionof peace, aka islam..

I can't agree with your optimistic assessment that only after the Muslim Brotherhood has taken over Egypt, that then, finally, the West will wake up to the danger of jihad in Egypt. I'm afraid that if --God forbid-- the Ikhwan takes over Egypt, that such an eventuality will be used to demand more concessions for Islam and da'awa and jihad in the West, and by the West in the Middle East, such as betraying Israel more than heretofore. The West simply does not care for the Copts or the other Middle Eastern non-Muslims. The West has had plenty of time to show that it does care for non-Muslims in the Middle East --and has failed the test.

In fact, this ignorant argument was first used more than fifty years ago against Israel. And it was used not only by Arabs but by the Western sympathizers of Arabs, such as officials of the American Near Eastern Relief [ANERA]. This body, by the way, was first set up to help the Armenians, in the early 1920s I believe. But it became a pro-Muslim, pro-Arab outfit by the fifties. It was said by spokesmen for the pro-Arab lobby --what I.L. Kenen called the "petro-diplomatic complex"-- that the Arabs had always treated the Jews well and kindly, etc., in contrast to the European Christians [thus disarming some of the potential criticism of their pro-Arab position]. Therefore, the Jews --by setting up a state and allegedly treating the Arabs cruelly-- had displayed ingratitude to their historic friends and protectors.

hey I used to live in Egypt but so far everybody that posted here said everything I would say. I just wanna thank everybody for understanding how my muslim country works and I truly wish that every person that posted here were government officials, wouldn't life be sweet if that was true.

I become more and more convinced everytime i hear of the murderous possessed evil islamic thugs. Check out the extermination of the Christian population at the island of Doti in Indonesia for example. If you are able to that is, nice peace loving muslims are just defending themselves ofcourse. No i become more convinced that the best charity would be to give arms to Christian/Jewish/Hindu communities on the fringes of large moslem populations, for at least then they may be able to have a 'choice'in at least being able to defend themselves and their children from death and forced conversion to the cult of all death cults. Either that or the call must go out for a united (all faiths except islam) Crusade against this scourge, and give them a taste of their own medicine, convert to something else or die defending yourself.

I think USA and the western world have underestimated the jihad threat for decades as they were occupied with WWII and the Cold War.
I am afraid it seams to have been too late for proper actions and avoidance of 9/11.
Above this I don't see a glue in the American policy on South Eastern Europe where Muslim organizations (in Albania, Kosovo, Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece) supported by the US since the Serbian War are still tollerated and take care of virtual "enslavement" of the non Muslim population.
The moral and ethic problem with the existence of Israel is also not quite clear to me. And the palestine people have been really oppressed by Israel.
I hope that in future USA and the Western World will correct their politics in favor of the Christians in the border regions like Egypt, the Balkans, India and so on. The Christians from those regions (we) should feel first above all - safe.
Until this doesn't happen I have to addmit that I don't want to take a side in this struggle.
