Banda Aceh, 26 April (AKI/Jakarta Post) - The Indonesian government has insisted that Muslims and non-Muslims alike in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam district of Muslim-devout Aceh province should be tried by a planned Islamic Court. Non-Muslims accused of committing crimes such as theft and adultery, would be tried under the Sharia inspired bylaws, state secretary Yusril Ihza Mahendra told the special committee deliberating a crucial bill on Aceh's future administration.Mahendra, responding to the proposals of several legislators who wanted non-Muslims to be given the freedom to choose under which law they would be tried, said it would only create legal uncertainty.
"Should such freedom be given, non-Muslims will certainly choose to be tried under the Criminal Code, because it carries more lenient punishment," Yusril told the hearing, held to discuss the authority of the planned Islamic Court, also known as Mahkamah Sharia.
Yusril said that in the case of adultery, non-Muslims who committed adultery with Muslims would undoubtedly opt for trial by Indonesia's penal code, because it was more lenient than stoning or other forms of corporal punishment stipulated under Islamic Law.

Once again, the islamic world shows that it does not appreciate when the infidel shows compassion. Humanitarian aid is supplied by the west out of compassion. Yet they have no compassion for us.
This is why I have said before that the west should never give any aid to the muslim countries for anything, especially a natural disaster. Perhaps it is God's way of punishing them for their cruelty and moral defunct character.

Let this be a warning as to what non-Muslims can expect if any Western European country gets a Muslim majority. Too many stupid people still believe that if Western Europe does become majority Muslim or Muslims become the biggest religious group, our existing laws will be respected, but they'll get a shock. Sharia for all will be in once Muslims make up 40% or more of the population. No pop music. No pubs, bars or clubs. No art. Burkas everywhere, and their wear enforced by religious police busybodies. Sullen uneducated mullahs pulling all the strings, and those non-Muslims who managed to get an education when it was possible to do so hightailing it out on the last flights to the US and Australia. Our way of life gone forever, and lifes pleasures existing only in the distant memories of elderly people. But try to get our dhimmified PC-inebriated population to believe that. People can call me a fascist, a racist, a bigot or whatever they like, but it is their children and grandchildren who will suffer through the stupidity of those who refused to learn about what is at stake.

As an Indonesian I had seen it coming and Sharia is continuing to be slipped in by regulations , decisions etc. all through Indonesia!
Various regional governments have passed laws based on Syariah.
The Christian minorities are helpless. All they can do is pray. The few Christians who are in leadership positions are either afraid or have a dhimmi attitude. I just can' see how this slowly started but quickening of pace of Islamic strangulation could be stopped.

Historically, trade relations and humand rights issues have frequently been tied together. If Indonesia effectively eliminates minority legal rights in its imposition of Sharia on non-Moslems, Western nations should impose trade sanctions.
Indonesian Hindu and Christian minorities should join East Timor and insist upon their own homelands.
The western democracies' boycotting of anything made in Indonesia would be a good start towards combating this and other such horrible political developments over there.
