-basically- tells us that the US should rather put Moussaoui in a happy home, with trees & flowers, that he is a nut-case and could be cured in 6 months with proper psychiatric help & TLC.

I think that these interviews are western masoquism, clearly, Moussaoui is an islamic terrorist and he dreamed to be another terrorist, he must be killed.

I thought he was from France. I can't imagine anyone of Arab origin in France not having a gang to rampage after anyone who called them a dirty arab. That sounds more like their terminology to me.

This woman seems pretty honest to me. She admits that her son is an Islamic fundamentalist. True, she does attribute his initial attraction to it to racism he experienced in France (only an idiot intent on avoiding reality, however, would jump up and down and point to that as the "root cause") but she also refuses to take the easy way out to save her son by going along with the defense's claim that he is psychiatrically insane. She appears to be genuinely struggling to grasp the contrast between her own generation's experience as immigrants with the radicalized path taken by at least 2 of her children. This is a story which will undoubtedly be repeated ad nauseum in the coming years in Europe. But at least she isn't taking the easy way out. She knows her son isn't insane.
