Rice Gets an Earful From British Muslims

From the New Duranty Times:

BLACKBURN, England, April 1 — Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice faced more protests and public embarrassment here on Saturday that have turned a trip meant to be a friendly follow-up to an American trip by Foreign Secretary Jack Straw into a two-day run through a raucous, mishap-ridden gantlet.

She was heckled by protesters and faced criticism from Muslim leaders hand-selected to meet with her by the Foreign Office during a visit here, the hometown of Mr. Straw. He visited Ms. Rice's hometown in Alabama in October...

In a news conference, Ms. Rice said she was "enjoying this visit very much." She described the meeting with the Muslim leaders as "immensely stimulating and interesting."

Although the names of the 21 Muslim leaders had been made public, several of them requested that their names not be published or broadcast, for fear of repercussions. Five who agreed to be interviewed clearly feared they might be viewed as traitors.

"We are here to represent the views of the thousands of protesters out there," said Kamrudden Kotha, the leader of a business federation. "We talked to them about the perceived double standard of American foreign policy. But I am not naive enough to think we will change American foreign policy."..

On Friday, Ms. Rice had to content herself with a visit to the Liverpool school where Paul McCartney studied instead of meeting him — and had to face a short line of students wearing T-shirts that said: "No torture. No compromise." During a visit to a school in Blackburn, she was greeted with chants of "Condi Rice go home!"...

Did she care?

No Muslim should ever use the term "double standard" as an insult. My hypocrimeter pegged and I may have to replace it. The more they push for the ethnic cleansing of Jews from the Disputed Territories the more I feel justified in calling for their deportation from every nation in the West.

In response to the shouting that interrupted her speech, Condi said:"they make my point. A democracy is the only system of government that allows people to be heard peacefully."

How tawdry and meaningless.

The administration needs a more confident response than that.

This could be a good thing or it could be a particularly nasty type of dissumulation ie to pretend and give the impression that muslims are just as liable to get death threats as non-mulims from muslims.

No compromise on torture??? None will be given.

Yankee go home??? When we get ready.

It is interesting that these students have the brain power to dress themselves and speack in sentences.

Sounds like this summer's blockbuster movie.

With Kevin "Silent Bob" Smith as Abu Hamza.

Do you feel the 'benevolence in the heart of Islam',now Condi?

Protest seem to be the in thing.Id rather listen to her speeches. But its probally the same spin weve been hearing from repblcans and dems for so many years. So sure why not take a visit to mary old UK.Give a sppech or to.And then back home.At least she met with a few Muslum reps.Lets hope she wasnt easlaly saduced.

muslims leaders who agreed to be interviewed clearly feared they might be viewed as traitors.

are these muslims weinnies or what! dont they know they are living in a western country and not back home in arab land where you might be killed for this crap..and they want to keep this culture of death?
l have never heard of so much crying the blue by these wimps who dont realize how well they have it in the WEst! l say youdont like it, !$@#@# get out!

A Muslim population is a disloyal population. That's how the so called imam functions in liberal Western nations. All one has to do is look at the "example" the lying Imams of Denmark have set. Look at the "example" of the rioting French Muslims. The British Muslims must compete with their European brothers lest they be ridiculed.

My question is: who was the genius who thought it would be a good idea to parade a member of the current administration through one of the most Muslim parts of Europe, let alone Britain? There are plenty of places in Britain where Dr.Rice would have been received with a minimum of courtesy, but nooooo! She had to go and visit Jack Straw's constituency, for no reason anyone could possibly see. Well, everyone got what they deserved.

A Day in Her Life:

I read the news today, oh, girl.
‘Bout an unlucky gal in Bush-bash land.
And though the news was no surprise.
Well, I just had to gri-i-in,
Hearing the Muslim spi-i-in.

She blew their minds when she appeared.
They raged and ranted and then hurled some jeers.
That crowd of seethers stood and snarled.
They hoped to see her tears,
Hoped she’s not as steady as she gen-er-al-ly is when she appears.

She heard their whines today, oh, girl.
‘Bout Palestinian democracy.
They think that voting makes you free.
But I must disagree.
Jihad is ty-ran-ny.
They love to turn to hate…

(Jaunty interlude by Paul McCartney)

I read the news today, oh, girl.
Four thousand gripes in Blackburn, Lancashire.
And though the gripes were rather large,
She listened to them grouse.
Now she knows how many gripes it takes to fill the Bush White House.
They’d love to turn her off…

(Sound gets louder and louder, culminating in thunderous crash)

Muslims are the most inventive and peace living people in the world,so they invented the comercialized terror, and they just love to kill they brothers too.And here is one example of the inventive Muslims
History of the Hashshashins
Although known as early as the 8th century, the foundation of the Assassins is usually marked as 1090 when Hasan-i Sabbah established his stronghold in the mountains south of the Caspian Sea at Alamut. A Yemeni emigrant and an Ismaili Shiite, Hasan set the aim of the Assassins to destroy the power of the Abbasid Caliphate by murdering its most powerful members. Hasan ibn Sabbah was also known as "The Old Man of the Mountain", however, this is likely to have been a mistake in translation, since "Old Man" is the literal translation of "Sheik". Much of the current western lore surrounding the Assassins stems from Marco Polo's supposed visit to Alamut in 1273, which is widely considered mythical (especially as the stronghold was allegedly destroyed by the Mongols already in 1256).

The group inspired an aura of fear out of all proportion to their power. Legends stated that the Assassins were trained using ideology and drugs to convince them that they were assured a place in paradise if they were successful in murder with their golden daggers. They subdued, kidnapped, drugged and seduced the fiercest caravan guards, convincing them with elaborate means that they had died and awakened in Paradise. Thereafter, on subsequent raids, they fought furiously, believing that their death would only return them to that Paradise. The training technique was sophisticated for its time, especially the use of Ismaeeli dogma, drugs, and sex in contradictory combinations.

However, the "hashshashin" (often anglicized "hashishim") name was likely given to the Assassins by their enemies, and there is no evidence that the Assassins ever used drugs for this or any other purpose.

Most of the victims of the Assassins were Sunni Muslims. There were some extremely highly placed victims including Nizam-ul-Mulk. Christians were largely untouched by the depredations of the Assassins; it was not until the middle of the 12th century that they had even really heard of them, although Conrad of Montferrat - the King of Jerusalem - was a victim (the Assassins may have even been hired by Richard the Lionheart).

The power of the Hashshashin was destroyed by the Mongol warlord Hulagu Khan, but several smaller sects remain to this day, such as the sect led by the Aga Khan. During the Mongol assault, the library of the sect was destroyed, and thus much information about them was lost.

The assassins figure in several conspiracy theories.

Aint Bin Laden a Yemeni also??

"She was heckled by protesters and faced criticism from Muslim leaders hand-selected to meet with her by the Foreign Office..."
-- from the article above

If not Rice herself, what are those in the State Department who concern themselves with Europe, making of this, and all the other indicators that as the Muslim populations of Western Europe grow -- if they are allowed to grow -- European politicians will necessarily appease them, and part of that appeasement will neessarily be policies that will be opposed to those of the United States, and hobble the ability of both European and American Infidels to take decisions based purely on a desire to defend themselves.

The Muslim population of England is smaller than that in France or Germany. What will happen when it is twice its current size? Three times? Who will be watching Muslims invited into the army, into the other security services? Or will inviting them in, and promoting them, be just the thing to render them unshakeably loyal to the government of the United Kingdom, despite its Infidel nature that, according to Islam, cannot be allowed in the end to stand, for "Islam is to dominate and is not to be dominated."

Or is the thinking here absent as well?

One suspects that within the State Department there will be divisions. Between those who see and those who will not see. Between those who are either serving in Europe now, or have been studying closely what is going on, and are worried, and those apologists for Islam still entrenched, if entrenched they are, in the assorted desks assigned to deal with Arab and other Muslim countries.

Instead of criticizing something called the "State Department," one will have to differentiate between those whose focus is on Europe, and who are more likely to wish form stronger, and cleverer, measures taken to limit the power of Islam, and those who want the mixture as before -- that is, nothing but appeasement in dealing with Islam. But now those Arabists, as they are called, but it is more than Arabists, will have powerful enemies within the State Department. For a long time they only had to worry about those who deplored the repeated pressures on Israel, the assorted pushers of assorted Rogers Plans, whereby this or that bit of territory would be surrendered to the Arabs, this or that attempt to defend themselves, or even to insist on their own legal, moral, and historic rights, were so often pushed aside, always by those who took process for substance, and never learned the first thing about Islam, so despite all their frantic busyness, never got close to understanding the Arab opposition to Israel, and how unassuagable, unappeasable, it was -- such people as the deplorable Dennis Ross.

Time to stop it the nonsense and the diversions. The diversion of "two-state" "solutions." Anyone who can speak of "solutions" to the Arab Muslim refusal to ever accept the permanent existence of an Infidel state on land once possessed by Muslims, cannot be taken seriously, and must simply be ignored as a threat to Infidels everywhere. And anyone who thinks that "democracy" is the antidote to Islam, when all the most important changes -- for the better -- have come from such relatively enlightened despots as Ataturk and Bourguiba and the Shah of Iran -- also needs to be marginalized.

Instead, there is talk of making Rice a candidate for President. She is dumb, and therefore, she is dangerous. We have tried dumb these past six years. It hasn't worked. It has been a very expensive lesson.

Very interesting pictures, Nord. I often wonder if that bunch will enjoy sharia.

Hugh, you said it right - she is dumb and dangerous. If I were in her position, there would be no way on this green earth anyone could talk me into that kind of situation. The number of dummies who talked her into this is even more dumb and dangerous. The longer this babysitting goes on, the closer it will come when the citizens will have to take action and put a stop to all this. When that happens, it will be a world disaster. The governments will not do what they are elected to do, then the citizens have no choice. It’s beyond common sense.

Hugh sez:

'Condi dumb & dangerous...'

Me sez:

Depends how dumb. Some people learn from experience. Is she unable to learn anything from this experience? Do you think she is completely unable to draw her own conclusions on what Islam does once it invades a community?

Doe you really believe she is not going to ask the 'right' questions after this?

And why not?

"— and had to face a short line of students wearing T-shirts that said: No torture..."

The only legitimate "torture" is the insipid euro drivel that bores me catatonic. Condy should have bucked up face to face with the little cretins and told them stop their incessant whining or she will wire tap their asses.

Hugh writes; "Instead, there is talk of making Rice a candidate for President. She is dumb, and therefore, she is dangerous. We have tried dumb these past six years. It hasn't worked. It has been a very expensive lesson."

Well don't leave us hanging Hugh - just who should be in the oval office? As "W" is a two termer, by inference you are stating? suggesting? that the electorate is also "dumb." That makes you smarter than sixty million Americans - quite a feat...

Ms. Rice had a clearly interesting time with these students who were clearly geniuses because they clearly knew who she was when most children their ages clearly don't know anything in any clear manner about politics. Clearly, she was impressed.

She needs to go home and attend to the clearly pressing issues at hand with the clearly militant groups who are clearly attempting to take back their continent. Which was clearly stolen by the Europeans but was clearly theirs, not the Indians.

It will clearly be an interesting upcoming few years.

Fan-of-Hugh

Rice will need harder knocks than this to penetrate her dhimmi skull.

A pity she is in that robotic mode that all politicos segue into.

Platitudes instead of a functioning intellect.

No ability to think on her feet.

Nothing within to draw upon in order to challenge those who shout fatuous simplicifications of complex reality.

She should read the extract in A. Koestler's work "Bricks to Babel" entitled "The Seven Deadly Fallacies". (A little dated in some aspects to the Soviet era, but that should only lend some charm due to her supposed original area of expertise.)

Especially number five: "The Sentimental Fallacy". Where you mistake past allegiances for present truth.

"As "W" is a two termer, by inference you are stating? suggesting? that the electorate is also "dumb."
-- from a posting above

Why is that suggested? Many intelligent people voted for Bush, and also for his opponents. For those many, on either side, there appeared to be little choice. They all took a chance. Those who voted for Bush took a chance. Then took it again. For those who took it again, for years later, allowing themselves to believe that surely, by this time, after all that has happened, in the world and in Iraq, he knows far more about Islam than he is letting on. He must. He can't really mean those things he is saying about remaking the Middle East, or that Rice is saying with even greater conviction. Surely he will pull the troops out of Iraq and stop this nonsense about a Light Unto the Muslim Nations, and wait to let them fight among themselves. Surely. But he did mean it. He hasn't taken the time since September 2001 to study, study, study. And she certainly hasn't. Just think, if instead of this idiotic visit to Blackburn, if Rice had stayed home for four days, shut herself up in a room, and read, say, "Onward Muslim Soldirs," "The Myth of Islamic Tolerance," "Why I Am Not a Muslim," and made a good start on both "Islam and Dhimmitude" and "The Legacy of Jihad." My god, how many billions might be saved, how many American lives not lost or subject to further colossal disruption. But she had to go to Blackburn, to pay a return visit to one of the most ignorant, and most limited, foreign secretaries in the history of Great Britain. What could she conceivably have learned that would have outweighed what she could have learned from reading, and then allowing that reading to slowly be absorbed, over time?

Did I mention that just as those in the Administration who cling to tarbaby Iraq, who wish like busybodies to "bring democracy" everywhere (what craziness) and will withrdaw support from all non-democratic regimes, when the only semi-progress made anywhere in the Islamic countries has been through not the demos but through the efforts of the enlightened despot, whether Ataturk, Bourguiba, or the Shah of Iran. Imagine Franklin Roosevelt, in 1941, and 1942, and so on through the war, insisting that because this is a "war for democracy" the United States "will never support any undemocratic regimes" and therefore there would have been no convoys to Murmansk, no aid to the Russians and the Red Army. And then what?

Not everyone is dumb -- so why are they not speaking out? Why are so many remaining loyal and attakcing, in the manner of, say, Victor Davis Hanson, the silliest straw men, the easiest of targets, all those most obvious and wrong-headed of MoveOn.org critics, but never take on the dangerous and unanswerable criticism of Bush's plans for "success" in Iraq, and how those plans are unworkable, and that very definition of "success" is the reverse of what he should be trying to achieve -- in other words, what has been said here, for nearly two straight years?

And why are the political opposition, that is the Democrats, so unable to criticize Bush except using all the wrong arguments, for they seem to think he has been too aggressive (he hasn't been aggressive in the right way, or nearly enough), and that it is the situation in Iraq that "creates terrorists" (no, it's the Qur'an, the Hadith, and the Sira), and who show as little interest in the other instruments of Jihad -- money, Da'wa, demographic conquest -- as has the Bush Administration. And what is still worse, the Democrats appear to deplore the measures taken within this country to protect people -- measures which are not too strong, but if anything not strong enough.

One would have some sympathy for them if they could just offer -- and the field is wide open -- for beginning to suggest that the phrase "war on terror" mistates things, that it would be good to leave Iraq and at least to hint -- no, don't say it point-blank -- that the Iraqis "sink or swim on their own" and that "if they cannot get along, we are afraid that that is a problem outsiders cannot be expected to solve" and to further publicly state, "after all, teh Shi'a have been ill-treated by the Sunnis for a long time, and the Sunni-Shi'a split is nearly as old as Islam." Is there a single Democrat willing to say that? And to add, "of course, we may have interests to defend, particularly the interest of promoting the self-determination, as expressed by the Kurds" but that "need not require our troops to remain there." And "Iraq has become a misallocation of resources and a diversion from other, more pressing problems, including that of Iran's possible acquisition of nuclear weapons," and "profound challenges to the civilization of Europe" (words to that effect). The first person to utter those words in that way gets my vote. Whatever his or her other views, that is what counts. That, and the environmental problem -- which happens to require the same measures to be taken, in the field of energy, that the war of self-defense against the Jihad also requires. Why no candidate can put those two things together, and ride to victory on that, continues to puzzle.

It is not too late to reverse the gains made by Muslims through the OPEC trillions, and the millions of migrants, and the exploitation of Western technology. But it may soon be too late to reverse the changes in the climate. These matters need to be understood together, in order that a grand and unstoppable political coalition can be formed. How long must one wait?

it's sharia my good friends... that is it... not a war on terror at all...

it is all about allowing sharia to flourish or not!

Condi... george... Hilary... Gulianni... the question is about sharia?

On Friday, Ms. Rice had to content herself with a visit to the Liverpool school where Paul McCartney studied instead of meeting him — and had to face a short line of students wearing T-shirts that said: "No torture. No compromise."

If Condi is still that big a Beatles fan, why didn't she simply arrange meetings with Paul or Ringo - was she afraid of being snubbed?

A number of beheadings (jobwise) need to happen at the State Department for suggesting her this trip.

Given the opposition by most Europeans to the Iraq war, I have a theory that secretly, the Administration is wishing for Europe to be overrun by the demographic Mujahiddin, so that those leftist cretins in London, Paris, Rome, Madrid, et al get to know what real bigotry is, as opposed to the imaginary bigotry that enough Europeans stereotype the President with - a stereotype that overflows into the Left in the US. That, rather than the Saudi stake, may be a reason for FNC to use the Paris riots as a stick to beat the French with, rather than recognize the truth about Islam. Also given the perception about European ingratitude about WWII, I doubt too many Americans may want to save Europe's bacon again, even if they did happen to agree about the threat of Islam.

Instead, there is talk of making Rice a candidate for President.
By Hugh.

Rice is a political corps and as dumb as she is, she probably feels it herself.
There is no chance for her to become a President.
Her British counterpart looks and acts so stupidly, sometimes I even think he pretends to be dumb.

To those who say that Hugh's sentences are too long or too complex, who else is saying these things? In the decades of debate over the Middle East there have been millions of long and complex sentences spoken and written; who else has said what Hugh can say in this one short simple sentence?

Then there is this:

And why are the political opposition, that is the Democrats, so unable to criticize Bush except using all the wrong arguments, for they seem to think he has been too aggressive (he hasn't been aggressive in the right way, or nearly enough), and that it is the situation in Iraq that "creates terrorists" (no, it's the Qur'an, the Hadith, and the Sira), and who show as little interest in the other instruments of Jihad -- money, Da'wa, demographic conquest -- as has the Bush Administration.

Jesus H. Chrysanthemum! There are probably 3 or 4 ideas in there worthy of a full article in themselves, in one sentence. Why can't anyone, Democrat or Republican, just state one of the points that Hugh does here? Lesser minds have posted criticisms that his writings go on for too long. I think the opposite is true, there are ideas literally bursting out all over his writings; if anything there is too much information jammed into each sentence and each article. It's like being a 300 baud modem trying to access information from a gigabit ethernet link.

Muslims in Britain demonstrating against our troops being in Iraq and by that very act showing us that our troops need not be in Iraq but right hear at home, cleaning Britain up first, getting our own house in order before anywhere else.

Rice stated in her speech at the State Department Iftar dinner:
... Muslims around the world have demonstrated the qualities of generosity and benevolence that are at the heart of religious traditions ...

How much does she know about this part of religious tradition:
http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=19891_Dark_Ages_Via_Satellite&only

This from Dr. Muhammad Wahdan a religious sheik, from Al-Azahar University:
In Egypt we have four and a half million spinsters. The definition of a spinster is a woman who has reached 30, without ever receiving a marriage proposal. We have a spinster problem in the Arab world, and the last thing we want is for them to be sexually aroused. Circumcision of the girls who need it makes them chaste, dignified, and pure.

Now Rice is over 30 and unmarried; so does she agree that such women should be subjected to such benevolence, such generosity to keep them as nothing more than two legged camels?

Hugh wrote:

Yes, and imagine how anti-American Europe will become if Turkey is brought into the fold!

Bush needs to reconsider his eagerness to get Turkey admitted as a full member of the EU. It's going to be a disaster for the EU, and it's going to be a disaster for the US, too.

Hi all

As far as I am concerned Condoleeza Rice has very clearly laid out the Wests position, Sharia Law is OUT, and democracy is IN.

We should never do business with warlords, gangsters, and dictatorships.

We must never allow a nation to become an ISLAMIC STATE, as this is a denial of a persons right to choose which religion or none to choose to live by, it places the population in a state of civil war with each other, because they will have to kowtow to peer pressure as regards their piety. In short (Afghanistan) they canot reveal their true feelings.

"Sharia Law is OUT, and democracy is IN."

?

I think you have to look at the people who were protesting. Lines of Pakistani-British school children!?! What do they know about the war besides what their parents told them?

It really puzzles me when they talk about Abu Ghraib and the torture. Fine - one down for the US and the coalition - but everyday in Iraq, Islamic extremist kill between 20 and 30 people - just going about their daily lives and no one in the Islamic community will talk about it.

The only thing that they are allowed to say is that it is the American's fault. Islamic people are like back seat drivers. Full of Blah! Blah! Blah! Highly critical and doing nothing useful in reality. Stopping the suicide bombing in Iraq would be very useful to getting that country up an running, the children in school and the lights on. But many of these Muslims are in support of the bombers.

And the other protesters where mostly those Anti-War people, who would be against anything - many are on the fringes of politics and are from parties like the Socialists Worker’s Party - like no hope - no chance politics.

So - Go Condi!

I think she had a good time in the North of England - she said many people waved at her on the streets and she appreciated that.

Some decisions are tough – Truth is the Arabs are weak, as they are controlled by the clerics and Saddam understood this and he was about to control them and the world’s oil.

Think ‘Butcher of Baghdad Controls World’s Oil!’ – I wonder what he would have demanded for that!

We don’t drive our cars around on an illusion – there is real petrol in there.

So, when is the invasion of Saudi Arabia scheduled? Or does this policy only apply to 50 lb. weaklings like Afghanistan?

How many American and British lives are to be spent forcing all the Islamic states in the world to give up their cultural and religious heritage? They've already proven that they're not ready to give up their bloodthirsty Sharia law without a fight. I say let them keep it, and focus our attention on something a little less testosterone driven, like keeping Islamic influence out of our own countries. I've got more productive things to do than fly around the world saving people who don't want to be saved.

Think about the Cold War. Was it our policy to fight and conquer the Soviet Union and China to make sure there were no COMMUNIST STATES in the world? How about a policy of "live and let live, and if you mess with us, you'll be very very sorry"? Not like the Administrations policy, "if you mess with us, we'll come improve your lives by building you an infrastructure and bestowing freedoms on you and donating massive amounts of foreign aid to you". Ooh, that's really got them shaking in their boots, er, sandals.

"As far as I am concerned Condoleeza Rice has very clearly laid out the Wests position, Sharia Law is OUT, and democracy is IN."--breadwinner

As Hugh pointed out earlier in the thread, when "freed" from their oppressive regimes and given the chance to vote... they vote for...wait for it... more Sharia. So, in muslim dominated cultures, democracy (when we are led by people stupid enough to bestow it upon these "poor, oppressed" fanatics, at the cost of someone else's risking and losing their life in Honorable Service to the nation) it would seem, is now going to be used as an excuse for not confronting the actual threat inherent in Islam itself.

After all, "they voted for it" and we can't judge another culture based on our nonenlightened, Christian-biased worldview, can we?
/sarcasm

This, from a posting above, cracked me up:

"...Yes, and imagine how anti-American Europe will become if Turkey is brought into the fold!"

Not to worry, mate:

They can't possibly hate America any more then they already do.

The accession of Turkey might finally force them to take a look in the mirror...

If that happens, they will love America to death by trying to immigrate away from Eurabia...

>>"...Yes, and imagine how anti-American Europe will become if Turkey is brought into the fold!"

Watching Condi Rice and Jack Straw on London Channel 4 TV News on Saturday evening I was left pondering a question no-one in the media seems to have asked (or if so I have missed it) - just what did Jack Straw attempt to accompany Condi to a mosque for in the first place and why did Condi agree to this silly stunt? Then have both of them suffer the public humiliation of being told they couldn't visit it as no-one could guarantee their safety. I don't suppose for a moment that a Hindu Temple or a Sikh Gudawara were on the agenda for a visit - but then Hindus and Sikhs aren't the voters Straw needs to be seen with are they? Straw and Condi were shown shaking hands with a line of friendly looking Asian worthies somewhere but most of them looked like Sikhs and Hindus although this wasn't made clear in the commentary. Meanwhile the odious scenes outside the building of Pakistani and other Muslims and their Socialist Worker Party self-hating white dhimmis shouting abuse and waving placards made me wonder what's going to happen when British Muslim numbers reach the point where Sharia Law becomes imposed on us by stealth? If Turkey joins the EU it will probably emerge retrospectively in some obscure EU directive.
