Russia today offered its most outspoken support yet of the controversial nuclear programme in Iran, its neighbour and trading partner."Our advice to our Iranian colleagues and friends is to complete work with the International Atomic Energy Authority and to calmly continue its nuclear energy programme... and on this path we are ready to provide assistance to Iran," Sergei Kislyak, the Deputy Foreign Minister, told a security conference in Moscow.
"The search for a solution must follow the route of diplomacy, and our position is that the instrument for resolving this problem, as before, must remain the IAEA, as we don’t have another international agency that has such authority and competence in the non-proliferation area."
This pisses me off, when are the Russians and Americans going to bury the hatchet and move on.
The Russians are always taking the opposite stance of the U.S., and vice versa. When both sides should be leaning on each other, and really dealing with the largest issues facing the freedom and security of the world, namely the Islamic threat.
The U.S. is every bit as guilty as the Russians are on this one. When can we get a clear idea on where each of these superpowers stand? The U.S. always backs Turkey and Chechnye (sorry don't care to know how to spell it), Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Bosnia, Kosovo all at the expense of other groups. The continual backing of these rogue states creates nothing but confusion on where you are going to stand on the next issue.
Why don't they get together, make a real plan and cut off the Isamic world from the west, and the rest of the world. Leave them in the mid east alone where they can spread their hate amongst themselves.
The U.S. is in Iraq now, and its President(George W.)is talking about Islam being a divine religion. Get out of there now as it's apparent he's lost his nerve and has no focus. Who will the U.S. back next? It seems no one cares who they back as long as it serves their own purpose in the interim. The U.S. and Russia are both guilty of always making alliances with people who hate them, without thinking to the future prospects of these alliances.
This comes out one week away from the April 28 deadline for the IAEA report, as Russia holds out for "proof" that Iran is does not have solely peaceful purposes in mind:

BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) — Troops in southern Thailand struggled through mountains of mud Tuesday in an effort to reach thousands stranded by floods and landslides that have killed at least 35 people.
Late Monday, 60 soldiers reached a village in Yala province where 2,000 people had been stranded for three days without food, said Samrerng Wongmuneeworn of the Yala disaster prevention center. He said the landslide in Tanoh Buteh killed one man and damaged about 50 homes.
The government has declared nine southern provinces disaster zones after two weeks of heavy rains left much of the area under water or buried in mud.
The affected area includes the Muslim-majority provinces of Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat, where more than 1,100 people have died in separatist violence since January 2004."

Don't be so hard on the Russians, the more iran spends on aa systems the less they have for nukes. We have fought Russian equipment enough to know how to defeat it. iran should buy bomb shelters.

I don't know what you were talking about with Mohideen, but I used to work at an earthquake lab and we regularly had mining blasts show up on the seismometers as magnitude 2 and 3 earthquakes on the Richter Scale.

Russia just had 3 more earthquakes today in the SAME region - one being a 6.0 - bringing the total up to around 30 earthquakes over a three day period of time - wow! And I saw the earthquake that hit Japan listed on IRIS too.

I'm interested in this whole idea of natural disaster as religious punishment, does your theory have any explanations for the hurricanes that have hit florida and the southern US in the past 2 years?
Also, have are you open to alternate versions of this concept? for example, could it be that people who live in natural disaster zones develop societies that tend towards instability? and, could this question be at all related to the issue of solving the very real problem of violent jihad?

I do not think the Russians are giving this much thought.
The IAEA has never uncovered a clandestine program, even when the governments program under inspection has been a part of the NPT.
As I have said before, Russia and China are both interested in promoting their Economies, without which they would be unable to continue playing in the international game.
The trouble with this situation is that Russia and China are being allowed to participate in a very highly skilled game, with poor equipment and no training.
They simply should not be on the Security Council if they cannot recognise the seriousness of this situation.
Isreal on the other hand must ensure its security, Iran is always declaring peaceful intentions, though surrounding their saintly protestations with warlike rhetoric.
Iran behaviours is appalling, but Russias's and China's behaviour is just not good enough.

As far as the connection between "natural disasters" and "religious punishment" goes - I do believe that God uses the forces of nature to send judgement. God is described as both loving and wrathful in the bible; so I hope that answers your first question.
Concerning your second question, I really don't subscribe to a particular "theory", other than the one I mentioned above. In other words, I don't believe that Israel has some kind of scalar weaponry that can influence weather or that can create an earthquake. I've never been presented with hard proof that scalar weaponry, or any other theories, are in fact true.
The hurricanes that hit Florida and the southern part of the US - in my opinion - are simply due to global warming. It's been proven that global warming is a real problem, and that's what has caused an increase in hurricanes.
Your last question is a little unclear to me. Am I open to "alternative versions"? Well, maybe, it all depends on what the alternative version is. What is it?
And do I think that "societies tend to live in natural disaster zones". Uh - no - but again, I'm not too sure what you mean. Perhaps you could explain that a little more. Thanks!

This may surprise you, but I happen to agree with your post. I like to study earthquakes, tectonic plates, etc; and you're right, there are certain areas that are more active than others - BUT - I also believe that God can/does shake things up when He wants to!
I don't want to come across like some God-know-it-all by saying, "For SURE - God is shaking-up Russia". But I do consider it an interesting coincidence that Russia has had over 30 earthquakes in three days; at a time when they've been supporting Iran - who happens to hate Israel.
In the bible God says He will "bless those who bless Israel, and curse those who curse Israel".
....and that isn't what Russia is doing!
